Ian Miles Nichelson, age 33, of North Platte, Nebraska went to his heavenly home on October 26, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.&nbsp; Ian was born on January 27, 1987 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte.&nbsp; He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and North Platte Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 2005.

During his high school years, he worked part-time at Arby’s for his Aunt Dort.&nbsp; He learned from her at a young age what hard work was. After graduation he worked at Menards for a while then he moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to do tile work for a man he met while working at Arby’s. He had told that man that he wanted to work for him 3 years prior. When he finished school, he contacted him. He worked for Tile Kings for 2 years, traveling to many places doing tile jobs, many of them at Starbucks. He got to go to Lake Tahoe, Mt. Rushmore, many places in Colorado and Nebraska. He moved back to Nebraska a couple years later and did tile work on the side, on his own after learning the trade. He did many beautiful floors, kitchens and bathrooms. He was so proud of his work. He then went to work for the City of North Platte with the Sanitation Department. He had some wonderful times working with the men on those crews. His love for people’s back yards, gardens, kids and pets were things he talked about every day and every season. One time he said that someone called in to report a dead bird flopping around. He remembers his boss asked “what kind of bird is it?” A pterodactyl or what?” One of the funniest stories every. He worked for the city of about 8 years. He made a best friend while working there in Chris Werkmeister. In 2015 he quit the city to start his own business “Early Bird &amp; Second Mouse” putting the Old McDaid School Boiler together after it was dismantled, making a huge smoker. He had it built to his specifications, put it on a huge flat bed trailer and started cooking many, many smoked meats, turkeys and cheeses. He won the Honky Tonk BBQ 2 years in a row along with many other awards. He could season meats the way no one else could. He did many events, weddings, graduations and family meals. He was perfect in his job, not matter what he cooked. He loved seeing the looks on peoples faces when he saw them eat his cooking. His trait was homemade breakfast burritos which he has made this whole time. He also smoked cheese, olives, jalapenos &amp; chocolate covered strawberries. He had a gift in cooking for so many.

He also had a love for music. Any of his friends will tell you that. He loved Sally Erna’s letter that said “Have you ever sat &amp; thought what life would be like without music?” He had a list of his top songs, sadly, it has ended now with #410.&nbsp;&nbsp; He played guitar, teaching himself. His passion for music was like no one we have ever known. He put a speaker in the backyard and always turned it up loud when he was outside.

Ian also loved to draw. He won awards for his art and could see things in his drawings that no one else could. He was precise and very detailed in his beautiful art work.

Besides the work, the music, the art, he loved football. So many of his pictures has him and football. Since he was very young, he loved Husker football. Attending his first tailgate at about age 3 with his Uncle Francis in Lincoln, Nebraska. He played every recess in school with his classmates. We had a family get-to-gether’s in August &amp; guess what?? We all threw that footfall. His best friend &amp; “other brother”, Nathan Epley, threw countless football passes. He loved the Raiders, with the Patriots a close 2nd, but Nebraska was his favorite. He had to have every football card ever printed when he was younger. A fortune spent on football cards. When Ian was little, he had a passion for animals and creepy things too, like snakes! Our neighborhood still has an abundance of snakes because of him. He also loved to fish and to camp. He once saved a baby possum by taking it to the river because he didn’t want it to die. He loved birds, along with his cat Bobby, who passed away this summer. Then he got really close to the other cat Spirit, who never used to like him. Lover of nature, wildlife and pets for sure. All started at a young age. He loved nurturing &amp; especially taking care of our earth, too, always recycling anything.

Besides all these passions in a short life, his love for his family was the biggest. He never missed a family event in all of his 33 years, sometime hating for birthdays, holidays, weddings, Czech Days, football games, concerts and anything else to end. He had a unique &amp; robust passion for life. He never was negative. Always listening, always happy, always kind, always a good helper, and always a joy to have around. No one could ask of anyone better, ever. A life of love &amp; a passion that only God could give to him to show how to live it. He loved God. He didn’t talk about it much, but he always believed in God &amp; knew he was here.

Ian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wesley &amp; Opal Pecenka, Donald &amp; Bessie Nichelson, his Aunt Dorothea &amp; his Uncle Pete.

Cathy Lee (Janda) Province was born March 14, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William Janda and Darlene (Ballard) Janda of Wilber, Nebraska. They moved to Broken Bow Nebraska in 1952, where Cathy attended Custer Grade School and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1965. She then attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska for one year and married Wesley Province on June 17, 1966. To this union were born Angela, Justin, Jeremy, and Nathan.

Cathy passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2020.

Her nine Grandchildren are Ryan Province, Brittany (Province) Toof, Shay Province, Sadie Province, Sara Province, Cameron Province, Gabriel Province, Taylor Province and Braxton Province. Her four Great Grandchildren are Ryker Province, Adelyn Province, Sabrina Province and Delilah Toof.

She had many cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved.

Cathy enjoyed family and friends and various crafts. She was the office manager for Province Plumbing for thirty years. When they partnered with Ray Brown, Ann &amp; RJ Thomas &amp; Matt Thomas, she and Ann went about enriching the interior of the hotel, not only with furnishings but with their undying optimism and outgoing personalities. It was one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling times for her. She also looked forward to every last Wednesday of the month when she could have lunch with the girls (her classmates). She always looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Wes Province of Broken Bow, Nebraska, brother Richard Eldred of Aiken, South Carolina, and sister Taresa Brunken of Broken Bow, Nebraska. Also, three sons, Justin Province of Denver, Colorado, Jeremy Province of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Nathan Province of Kearney, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela, who died at birth.

A family memorial service will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Pastor Becky Dobitsch officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Cathy Lee Province  (1947-2020)

Betsy Ruth Hasty, age 92, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her home in Ogallala.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; She was born July 14, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska to Herbert Davis. Her mother died when she was an infant.&nbsp; &nbsp; The family made their home in Carter Lake, Iowa, where her early schooling was. They moved to Beatrice, Nebraska where she graduated from High School. &nbsp; Betsy met Lloyd Hasty in Beatrice, where they were married. The two of them moved to Kearney, Nebraska to make their home. Then, in 1958 they moved to Ogallala, Nebraska. &nbsp; We will miss you, Bets.

Betsy is survived by her niece, Anna Edwards, of Omaha, Nebraska; great-nephews, Isaac and Bradley and great-niece, Meriah Edwards; and nephews, Michael and James Corbet, of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.&nbsp;

The family chose cremation. No services are scheduled at this time.

Interment&nbsp;will be in the Filey Cemetery in Filey, Nebraska.&nbsp;

A memorial has been established in her memory.&nbsp;

Betsy Ruth Hasty  (1928-2020)

Shirley Elaine Evans, age 93, of Hayes Center, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Great Plains Regional Med Center in North Platte, Nebraska.

Shirley was born March 8, 1927 in McCook, Nebraska to parents Ross Sidney and Joyce Dee (Johnson) Mosley. She was one of eight children who grew up in southwest Nebraska, attending school and graduating from Hayes Center High School in 1944.&nbsp;

On December 30, 1945, Shirley married Hershel Evans in Hayes Center where the couple made their home and were blessed with four sons.&nbsp; Over the years, Shirley enjoyed working alongside Hershel on the farm, milking the cows and giving them each a name, gardening, planting flowers and watching football.&nbsp; She also like to crochet and volunteered as a local 4-H club leader. Together with Hershel, the couple owned and operated the Double E Café for many years where Shirley was able to share her love of cooking, especially her bread and noodles, with others.&nbsp; Shirley was a member of the Kitchen Clatter Club and the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center.&nbsp;

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hershel Evans; son, Mike Evans; three brothers; and two sisters.&nbsp;

Those left to celebrate her life include her sons, Jack (Jana) Evans of North Platte, Nebraska, Kelly (Sharon) Evans of Cambridge, Nebraska and Lanny (Ricka) Evans of Hayes Center, Nebraska; daughter-in-laws, Nancy Evans of Maywood, Nebraska and Linda Evans of Throckmorton, Texas; sisters, Priscilla (Jim) Phillips of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Judy Mosley of Durango, Colorado; sister-in-law, Pat Mosley of Salem, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and another one on the way.&nbsp;

Visitation, with family present to greet friends, will be on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, 305 West C Street, McCook, Nebraska, which is entrusted with arrangements.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hayes Center Cemetery, Hayes Center, Nebraska.

Shirley Elaine Evans  (1927-2020)

Earl William Eshleman, 102, longtime resident of North Platte, Nebraska died Monday, October 26, 2020.

Earl was born in a shack in the sandhills on July 14, 1918 and was the only child of William Henry and Clara Louise (Steel) Eshleman. Earl grew up on a ranch north of North Platte. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1935 at age 16. He joined the Army from 1945-1946.

Earl was a rancher that enjoyed dancing and playing cards. He married Helene (Beanie) Sanders at the North Platte Courthouse on August 19, 1940.

Earl is survived by a son, William (Diane) Eshleman of North Platte; granddaughter, Tamina Hartman of North Platte; two great grandsons, Keagan and Brody Hartman.

He joined the Army from 1945-1946.Earl was a rancher that enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Patrick McConnell, age 68, of Broken Bow, Nebraska passed away on October 1, 2020 at Brookstone View in Broken Bow, where he received excellent care.&nbsp; 

Pat was born on November 28,1951 to Merle &amp; Deloris McConnell in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was the oldest of 3 children.&nbsp; Pat grew up on the family farm near Sarben, Nebraska.&nbsp; He atteneded and graduated from Paxton High School in Paxton, Nebraska.

Pat spent most of his life working in the irrigation business in Kansas and northern Nebraska.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, shooting and hunting geese.

Pat moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska in 2010 where he met Ruth Cassel and they were married on March 25, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth and brother Michael; and his brother Mark McConnell of Paxton, Nebraska.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Shirley Lindekugel of North Platte, Nebraska peacefully passed away at her home in Linden Estates Cottages in North Platte on Wednesday morning, October 28, 2020 with her friends, Cathy &amp; Jim Smith, at her bedside. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Shirley was born on May 22, 1921 to Robert &amp; Myrl Frank at Marksville, Louisiana.&nbsp; She grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Joseph Kohn High School.&nbsp; Shirley went to work as a clerk-typist for a wholesale beauty and barber supply company.&nbsp; When World War II broke out, she went to work for the U.S. Army Port of Embarkation as a clerk-typist.&nbsp; During this time, many of the young girls were invited to attend dances being held to entertain soldiers preparing to be shipped overseas to join the fighting. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;At a dance, Shirley met a young Officer &amp; Gentleman, Captain Howard Lindekugel, from Hershey, Nebraska.&nbsp; They fell in love and were married on January 23, 1943 in New Orleans.&nbsp; They rode a troop train to North Platte, Nebraska where she met Howard's family and then went on to New York City where they stayed a few weeks before Howard shipped out to Europe. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Shirley continued working until Howard returned from the war.&nbsp; The couple then moved to Nebraska where they settled on a farm near Hershey and raised cattle.&nbsp; Following Howard's death, Shirley moved into town, then to North Platte. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was a member of the Catholic faith and most recently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.&nbsp; shirley was also a member of the Hershey American Legion Auxiliary and the Hershey Garden Belles. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Along with her husband, Howard, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Robert &amp; Myrl Frank; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Roberta. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Shirley is survived by her nieces Darlene (Walter) Pearson of Denver, Colorado and Barbara (Tommy) Woods of Metairie, Louisiana; special friends, Cathy and Jim Smith of Wallace, Nebraska; and many other family and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; Rosary service will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.&nbsp; Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Goodfellows Shoe Fund or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Building Fund.

Donald E. Adams  (1932-2020)

Mary Etta Gage passed away on Monday, October 19th, 2020 at North Platte Care Center. Mary was born January 15, 1937 to Clifford and Velma (Hixon) Moody in Imperial, Nebraska. She attended Wauneta Public Schools graduating in 1954, and then went on to earn her teaching certificate from McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska. On December 18, 1955, Mary married the love of her life, Keith Gage, at the Wauneta United Methodist Church in Wauneta, Nebraska. They made their home on the farm north of Wauneta in the Spring Creek Valley and Hamlet areas. Mary and Keith enjoyed the next four decades together on the family farm raising five children and making a lifetime of memories. Mary taught school in a one room country school south of Wauneta and also Hiawatha School near Champion, Nebraska. Mary enjoyed raising chickens every summer on the farm as well as gardening and canning. Everyone loved her cooking, especially her amazing fried chicken. It was a special treat requested by her grandchildren when they would come to visit. Mary and Keith did everything together, whether it be working on the farm, in the garden, building rocking horses, and fishing. They did it together. In 1998 Mary and Keith retired to the small town life of Wauneta. They spent their first year renovating the house they purchased that was close to downtown. Mary found that being idle was something that didn’t suit her well, so for the next several years she served as the cook for the Wauneta Senior Center that was conveniently located across the alley from home. She enjoyed the wonderful people she got to spend time with, and spoke fondly of her years there. In December of 2015, Mary and Keith celebrated 60 years of marriage with their friends and families in Wauneta. In 2019, Mary moved to North Platte, Nebraska to be closer to family. She was living at North Platte Care Center where she was cared for by the wonderful staff who loved her ornery sense of humor, and the social time she spent with them at the front desk. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, Lyle and Ilo Gage, husband Keith, son Robert (Bob) Gage, brother Ronnie Moody, brothers-in-law Norman Gage and Leigh Gage and Great Grandson Barrett Burenheide. Mario Delgado Silva  (1954-2020)

On May 4, 2020, Cynthia Annette Egle Nicholson, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away due to complications relating to cancer at the age of 73.&nbsp; Cindy’s cancer diagnosis came only a month earlier; her sudden passing was a heartbreaking shock to family and friends alike.

Cindy was born June 24, 1946, to Virgil and Grace Mae (Rasmussen) Egle in North Platte, Nebraska. Coincidentally, she was born the same day as her mother, a lifelong gift to both.

Growing up, Cindy was highly involved within the North Platte community and was an outstanding toe dancer. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1964. Cindy enjoyed her high school days and always spoke of the Bulldog pep rallies and migrations for high school football. Cindy’s school spirit continued to grow at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she graduated in 1968. She was a member of the Nebraska "tassels" (the equivalent of a modern-day cheerleading/spirt squad) and became a diehard Nebraska Cornhusker.

After graduating from college, Cindy moved to Colorado to begin her career as an educator. Cindy devoted over 30 years of her life to Jefferson County Public Schools in the Denver Metro Area. During this time Cindy also completed her Master’s degree at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

On June 29, 1985, at the First Christian Church in North Platte, Cindy married Greg Johns Nicholson of Iowa. She later gave birth to their only child, Thomas, in 1988.

At the time of her death, Thomas stated, "My mother knew my fears, my joys, my aspirations…but perhaps, most important of all, she knew how to make me smile." I will cherish every memory in my mind, my soul, and my heart. She was my best friend, and the greatest mother a son could ever have.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2020, at the First Christian Church in North Platte, Nebraska. Cynthia Annette Egle Nicholson  (1946-2020)

Terry&nbsp;Jacobsen, age 72, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on Monday, October 26, 2020.

Terry was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to Cleve and Ellen Jacobsen on September 18, 1948. The family lived in Boelus, Nebraska, until 1957 when they moved to Littleton, Colorado. Terry graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1967 then went to work at the Army Ammunition Depot in North Denver, then Martin Marrietta in Littleton, Colorado. Terry later began his trucking career with Sullivan's out of Grand Island and eventually bought his own truck.

On April 24, 1970, Terry married Florence Vlach in Grand Island and with his trucking career, the couple lived in various places including Casper, Wyoming. Terry drove for Grand Island Moving and Storage and Sinclair before hiring on with Walmart. It was his job transfer that brought Terry and Florence to North Platte, Nebraska in 2007 and he continued driving for Walmart until retiring in 2015.

Terry enjoyed driving and seeing the country. He belonged to Eagles Aires #2839 and a car club in Wyoming. Terry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Ellen, and his brother, Sidney.

Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence, of North Platte, Nebraska; children, Clinton Jacobsen, of Grand Island, Nebraska Gina McCoy, of Ravenna, Nebraska and Lindsey Jacobsen, of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Ryan, Summer and Chahlie McDonald and Justin and Skyler Jacobsen; great-grandchildren, Myla Markel and Kysar and Gabby Jacobsen; brother, Rodney Jacobsen, of Larkspur, Colorado; and other family.

 </figure>Terry&nbsp;Jacobsen, age 72, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on Monday, October 26, 2020.Terry was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to Cleve and Ellen Jacobsen on September 18, 1948. The family lived in Boelus, Nebraska, until 1957 when they moved to Littleton, Colorado. Terry graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1967 then went to work at the Army Ammunition Depot in North Denver, then Martin Marrietta in Littleton, Colorado. Terry later began his trucking career with Sullivan's out of Grand Island and eventually bought his own truck.On April 24, 1970, Terry married Florence Vlach in Grand Island and with his trucking career, the couple lived in various places including Casper, Wyoming. Terry drove for Grand Island Moving and Storage and Sinclair before hiring on with Walmart. It was his job transfer that brought Terry and Florence to North Platte, Nebraska in 2007 and he continued driving for Walmart until retiring in 2015.Terry enjoyed driving and seeing the country. He belonged to Eagles Aires #2839 and a car club in Wyoming. Terry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Ellen, and his brother, Sidney.Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence, of North Platte, Nebraska; children, Clinton Jacobsen, of Grand Island, Nebraska Gina McCoy, of Ravenna, Nebraska and Lindsey Jacobsen, of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Ryan, Summer and Chahlie McDonald and Justin and Skyler Jacobsen; great-grandchildren, Myla Markel and Kysar and Gabby Jacobsen; brother, Rodney Jacobsen, of Larkspur, Colorado; and other family.Cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Terry Jacobsen  (1948-2020)

Michael E. Nichelson, age 60, of Broken Bow, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Jennie M. Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Michael was born June 12, 1960, at Broken Bow, Nebraska, to Robert Lee and Patricia (McCleary) Nichelson. Michael received his education from Callaway Public Schools, in Callaway, Nebraska graduating from Callaway High School with the class of 1978.

Following graduation, Michael moved to Broken Bow and worked at Gibson’s for many years before working at Pizza Hut until his health forced him to retire.

Michael was very quiet, but had a presence about him. He was a homebody and kept his home very organized. He loved baseball and was a huge Kansas City Royals fan. He was a faithful watcher of Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith show and many different game shows. Michael also had a passion for the Callaway Kite Flight, which he attended for many years. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Honda 70 motorcycle.

Michael leaves to celebrate his life; his sisters, Debbra (Dale) Stark of Callaway, Nebraska and Twila (Paul) Bankson of Juniata, Nebraska; two uncles, Allen (Rhydonia) Nichelson of Belen, New Mexico and Jerry (Denise) Nichelson of Callaway, Nebraska; as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Jennifer.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Callaway United Methodist Church, with Pastor Shanon Williams, officiating.&nbsp; &nbsp;Burial was in the Broken Bow Cemetery at Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Cynthia “Cindy” Loree Bolton, age 60, of Lewellen, Nebraska, passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, October 23, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family.&nbsp;

Cindy was born in Kimball, Nebraska, to Ardis (Newman) and Jerry Babl on Friday, February 19, 1960. As the baby of the family, she was welcomed home by older siblings Diana, Deb, and Mike. She lived in Kimball until the 7th grade when her family relocated to Ogallala, Nebraska. There she met her lifelong friends Pam, Jeannie, Karen, and Sheila. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1978, and she and her friends would continue to live life to the fullest building their futures and families. Cindy met the love of her life, Marty, at MacDougals Bar at Lake McConaughy near Ogallala, Nebraska where she asked him to dance but he was busy bartending. A couple weeks later they crossed paths down by the Dam at the lake where Cindy flagged him down and Marty made his move. The rest is history. They married on April 10, 1982 and resided in the Ogallala area until permanently making their home in Lewellen in 1989. They raised their two daughters, Chelsey and Jessie, or “princesses”, as Cindy would say, and enjoyed the life they made. They filled their time with school and sporting events, family vacations, camping trips, and making memories.

Cindy began her fulfilling career in education in 1992, working in the Lewellen School Systems and later the Garden County School Systems. She became a paraeducator, spending much of her time dedicated to special education. She made an impact in the lives of countless students and families over her 28-year career. Although she enjoyed her career, her favorite titles were wife, mom, and Mimi. She poured her heart and soul into her family and was the sole shoe buyer for her grandbabies. She could never rest for long, always visiting her friends and family, starting a new house project, canning salsa and garden tomatoes, or finding a way to help in her beloved community.&nbsp;

Cindy was diagnosed with Stage IIIC primary peritoneal cancer, a form of ovarian cancer, on October 25, 2013. While this diagnosis was grave, she never took her fighting gloves off and lived these last 7 years with a positive determination, dignity, and grit. She used every opportunity to educate women and bring awareness about ovarian cancer. She brought joy and laughter to countless healthcare providers and fellow cancer patients, always making a new friend at the doctors’ offices or in the hallways during her hospitalizations. Cindy found great meaning in human connection.&nbsp;

Cindy is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Marty Bolton of Lewellen, Nebraska; 2 daughters and their families, Chelsey and Jamie Kennedy and children Olivia (10) and Connor (8) of Grand Island, Nebraska and Jessie and Austen Godbersen and children Arlo (4) and Everitt (1) of Wisner, Nebraska; mother Ardis Babl-Smith of Ogallala, Nebraska; siblings Diana (Duncan) Hevenor, Deb Kolste, and Mike Babl and their families; chosen sisters Pam Collins, Jeannie Reimers, Karen Peratt, and Sheila Clouse and their families; and several extended family and friends.&nbsp;

Cindy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Dr. Rex Kolste and her father, Gerard “Jerry” Babl who welcomed her into her everlasting life. While friends and family will deeply miss the physical presence of Cindy, the impact she made during her years here on earth will continue to ripple forever.

Don Earl Hollenbeck was born August 13, 1935, to Beryl &amp; Cathern Hollenbeck in Ainsworth, Nebraska. He was raised on his family’s ranch southwest of Bassett, Nebraska. Don attended a one room schoolhouse for his grade school education and graduated from Rock County High School in 1953. Don was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958. He received his basic training at Ft. Carson, Colorado and then was stationed in Hawaii for 2 years before being honorably discharged in 1960. Don earned the sharpshooter badge. Don and Sharilyn Sharp were united in marriage on August 27, 1960, in Johnstown, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born, Wayne and Mart. Don and Sharilyn continued to live on the ranch until 1995 when they moved to Long Pine, Nebraska. In Don’s younger years, he belonged to the Bassett American Legion baseball team and would always say with the arrival of a new grandkid, “You know, a left handed kiddo would make a great pitcher!” Don was also a member of the Long Pine Roping Club where they competed in several local towns. Among his many passions were flying his Piper J-3 Cub airplane to check pastures &amp; flying in to pick up the boys from school when the snow was too deep. He enjoyed raising the best greyhounds and having the ability to know his cattle without the aid of an ear tag. Don was a very proud dad and grandad, there were very few sporting events that his boys and grandkids were competing in that he did not attend. He was a very caring and giving man to all of them. Don especially loved Christmas time when we would all sit down and play cards. It was no surprise that he would bid 10 on a 4 hand and make it! He loved his sports and took deep pride in helping Hollenbeck Rodeo Co. Don passed down his enthusiasm for ranching to his two sons and grandson. Don passed away on October 17, 2020, at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bassett, Nebraska.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Cathern Hollenbeck and brother Gary Hollenbeck. He is survived by his wife, Sharilyn of 60 years; sons Wayne (Jackie) Hollenbeck and Mart (Dee) Hollenbeck both of Bassett, Nebraska. Four grandchildren: Fallon (Brent) Woods of Tripp, South Dakota; Brooke (Pat) Riha of Stuart, Nebraska; Chase (Melissa) Hollenbeck of Bassett, Nebraska and KayCee Hollenbeck and Rob Parker of Bassett, Nebraska. Nine great grandchildren, sister, Donna(Frank) Guilfoil of Lincoln, California; sisters-in-law, Carol Hollenbeck of Bassett, Nebraska, Sherri Sharp and husband Bill Stevenson of Rapid City, South Dakota; Shirley (Oliver) Painter of Rapid City, South Dakota, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services for Don will be held at a later date. Mr. Don Earl Hollenbeck  (1935-2020)

Cheryl Sue (White) Roblyer of Burwell, Nebraska passed away peacefully and surrounded by&nbsp;family on October 20, 2020, after a short bout with cancer. Her generous, loving, sweet and good-natured spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lillian Leibert White, brother Gary White Sr., sister Diane VanHouten, and brother Billy White.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, son Jason (Stacie) of Burwell, Nebraska; granddaughter Madison Roblyer (Hunter Bosard) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Jill Kostman (Rory), and grandson Killian of Cozad, Nebraska; granddaughter Jessamyn Johnson (Colby) of Ogallala, Nebraska and great-niece and favorite child, Jaylee Shaner of Hershey, Nebraska. She is also survived by brothers Danny (Karen) White of Sargent, Nebraska, Keith White of Columbus, Nebraska, Robert (Sharon) White of Kearney, Nebraska, Ronald (Suzi) White of Franklin, New Hampshire, Bradley White of Sargent, Nebraska, and Jerry White of Ord, Nebraska and a sister Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson of Burwell, Nebraska; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, close family friends and “adopted” family.

Cheryl Sue White was born the fifth oldest of eleven children on July 28, 1948 in Sargent, Nebraska to Kenneth Orville White and Lillian Mae Leibert. She attended school in Sargent and graduated in 1968.

Cheryl married Jim Roblyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell on November 30, 1968. Jim left to serve in the Navy during Vietnam shortly after their wedding, and Cheryl lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended hair school in his absence. In May 1971, they made their home in North Platte, Nebraska where they lived until 2015.

Cheryl wore many hats during the time she and Jim lived in North Platte, and after their retirement and move to Burwell in 2015. She worked most recently as the Executive Secretary of the North Platte Public Library where she served the public for 33 years before retiring. She worked at the Taylor Public Library from 2015 until September of 2020, as well. She served on the Republican Valley Library Board for many years, and served on the State Board for the Blind and Handicapped for 12 years. She and Jim were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte, where Cheryl served on the Board of Finance. After moving to Burwell, they continued to worship at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Cheryl was a prayer chain member and a prayer warrior with both fellowships.

Cheryl loved music, especially The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees, and shared her love of music with her children and grandchildren. Her children never knew a time when she didn’t have music on in the house. On one particular road trip with her granddaughters and great-niece, the speakers in Cheryl’s car were blown out by blasting her favorite Bee Gee’s song, “Tragedy.”

Cheryl's lead foot was a source of much discussion and laughter amongst her family, prompting Killian to quip "I'm pretty sure Grandma can get from Burwell to Kearney in 30 minutes".

Cheryl loved being a mom, but she cherished being a grandma to Jessamyn, Madison, and Killian (and Jaylee, of course, who called her “Grandma Aunt Cheryl”), and embraced her&nbsp; “grandsons-in-law,” Colby and Hunter as her own. She attended nearly every choir concert, band concert, quiz bowl competition, Grandparents Day celebration, Christmas program, speech meet, one-act play, musical, soccer game and awards night through the years. A trip to see her grandchildren was never long in her eyes. Cheryl also became an advocate for Autism during this chapter of her life. She was enjoying watching grandson Killian learn to drive in the months before her passing, and was looking forward to the wedding of Madison and Hunter.

She loved visiting with friends Jack and Mary Lee Nichols, and Gary and Joyce Kuhlman, often having them over for a wild game of Sequence that could go on into the late hours of the night.

She loved to garden and bird-watch, and enjoy the fresh air on her patio or porch. She bowled in a bowling league in North Platte for many years. She was an avid reader and encouraged her children and grandchildren to read from an early age. She had a great sense of humor, but was known to roll her eyes so far back in her head that she caught a glimpse of her brain when her family used the “colorful” language she didn’t approve of.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and the mark she made on this Earth will never go unnoticed by those who knew her.

Cheryl Sue (White) Roblyer of Burwell, Nebraska passed away peacefully and surrounded by&nbsp;family on October 20, 2020, after a short bout with cancer. Her generous, loving, sweet and good-natured spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lillian Leibert White, brother Gary White Sr., sister Diane VanHouten, and brother Billy White.She is survived by her husband, Jim, son Jason (Stacie) of Burwell, Nebraska; granddaughter Madison Roblyer (Hunter Bosard) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Jill Kostman (Rory), and grandson Killian of Cozad, Nebraska; granddaughter Jessamyn Johnson (Colby) of Ogallala, Nebraska and great-niece and favorite child, Jaylee Shaner of Hershey, Nebraska. She is also survived by brothers Danny (Karen) White of Sargent, Nebraska, Keith White of Columbus, Nebraska, Robert (Sharon) White of Kearney, Nebraska, Ronald (Suzi) White of Franklin, New Hampshire, Bradley White of Sargent, Nebraska, and Jerry White of Ord, Nebraska and a sister Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson of Burwell, Nebraska; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, close family friends and “adopted” family.Cheryl Sue White was born the fifth oldest of eleven children on July 28, 1948 in Sargent, Nebraska to Kenneth Orville White and Lillian Mae Leibert. She attended school in Sargent and graduated in 1968.Cheryl married Jim Roblyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell on November 30, 1968. Jim left to serve in the Navy during Vietnam shortly after their wedding, and Cheryl lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended hair school in his absence. In May 1971, they made their home in North Platte, Nebraska where they lived until 2015.Cheryl wore many hats during the time she and Jim lived in North Platte, and after their retirement and move to Burwell in 2015. She worked most recently as the Executive Secretary of the North Platte Public Library where she served the public for 33 years before retiring. She worked at the Taylor Public Library from 2015 until September of 2020, as well. She served on the Republican Valley Library Board for many years, and served on the State Board for the Blind and Handicapped for 12 years. She and Jim were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte, where Cheryl served on the Board of Finance. After moving to Burwell, they continued to worship at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Cheryl was a prayer chain member and a prayer warrior with both fellowships.Cheryl loved music, especially The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees, and shared her love of music with her children and grandchildren. Her children never knew a time when she didn’t have music on in the house. On one particular road trip with her granddaughters and great-niece, the speakers in Cheryl’s car were blown out by blasting her favorite Bee Gee’s song, “Tragedy.”Cheryl's lead foot was a source of much discussion and laughter amongst her family, prompting Killian to quip "I'm pretty sure Grandma can get from Burwell to Kearney in 30 minutes".Cheryl loved being a mom, but she cherished being a grandma to Jessamyn, Madison, and Killian (and Jaylee, of course, who called her “Grandma Aunt Cheryl”), and embraced her&nbsp; “grandsons-in-law,” Colby and Hunter as her own. She attended nearly every choir concert, band concert, quiz bowl competition, Grandparents Day celebration, Christmas program, speech meet, one-act play, musical, soccer game and awards night through the years. A trip to see her grandchildren was never long in her eyes. Cheryl also became an advocate for Autism during this chapter of her life. Cheryl Sue (White) Roblyer  (1948-2020)

Donald A. Gregory, age 78, of Overton, Nebraska passed away suddenly, Friday, October 23, 2020 in O’Neill, Nebraska doing what he loved to do, trucking.

Don was born February 21, 1942 in Blairstown, Missouri to Ora I. and Mary (Miller) Gregory.

At the age of twelve Don came to Nebraska, by himself, to work. He worked at the hay mills in Elm Creek, Nebraska and started his lifelong occupation, being a truck driver. Over the years Don had worked for many of the local trucking companies. At the time of his death he was hauling livestock for Blase Trucking. Don was well known and loved by the trucking community.

Don was united in marriage to Judy Ryles and then later met Amy Beavers, and they were together for sixteen years.

Don loved fishing, and feeding everyone. He was famous for his burnt steaks and undercooked potatoes. No one could buy a meal when Don was present. He also loved fast cars and would drive past Platte Valley Auto and see one he could not live without. He also loved his longtime companion, Rocky, a chocolate lab. Don loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his sons: David Gregory of Overton, Nebraska, Mike Gregory of Kansas City, Missouri, Eric Willets of Gothenburg, Nebraska and Greg Love of Cozad, Nebraska; daughters: Sheila of Missouri, Dian and husband Randy Miller of Rockville, Nebraska and Katie and husband Eric Johnson of Axtell, Nebraska; companion, Amy Hernandez of Gothenburg, Nebraska; one brother, Charles of Holdrege, Nebraska; two sisters: Ethel Commins of Warsaw, Missouri and Mary Ann Dempsey of Calhoun, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie, one daughter, Tina and four brothers: Ora Lee, Bob, John and Edward.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home at 106 West 8th Street in Lexington, Nebraska.

Marvin Harlan Dewitt  (1944-2020)

Rhonda J. (Snider) Becker, formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at her home in Cozad, Nebraska at the age of 63.&nbsp; Rhonda was born June 21, 1957 at Phillipsburg, Kansas to Jerome and Ruth (Lynch) Becker. She graduated from Beaver City High with the class of 1975.

Rhonda married Ivan 'Ike' Snider and their union was blessed with three children, Karen, Clint and Justina. The family lived most of their years in Elwood, Nebraska before Rhonda and Justina moved to Beaver City in 2000. She was employed at various places including Steakmaster in Elwood and Landmark in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Rhonda loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was always seen with a smile, had the best laugh, was a great listener and was always there for her friends. Those close to her always knew how proud she was of them and how much she loved them. As her niece, Megan Becker said “anyone who cries tears of joy every time one of their family members succeeds in something, knows how to love a little deeper than most. Your mom had a very deep love for her family”.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Michael 'Lynn' Becker , and a sister-in-law, Laura Becker.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Troy) Tickle of North Platte, Nebraska, Clint (Brianne) Snider of Cozad, Nebraska and Justina (Jackson) Johnson of Cambridge, Nebraska; grandchildren, Drew and Sutton Tickle, Jenna (Michael) Merrill, Ashtyn, Bryson and Braiton Snider, and Lincoln Johnson; adopted daughter, Courtney Highdale and her children, Florian and Hope; brothers, Dan (Karen) Becker and David (Julia) Becker both of Beaver City, Nebraska; four sisters-in-law that she consider sisters; a wide array of other family members.

Rhonda J. Becker  (1957-2020)

Mary Ellen Luanne (Knutson) Gaulke, age 86, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in Kearney, Nebraska.

Ellen was born April 23, 1934, in Warren, Minnesota, to parents Arnold Clifford and Ebba Margaret Jeanette (Johnson) Knutson.&nbsp; She was the oldest child, followed by brother Allyn, sister Roselyn, and brother Gary. Ellen, her siblings, and their many cousins, worked and played on the family farm, tending to cows and crops. She attended country school in nearby Thief River Falls, and graduated high school in Warren, Minnesota.

In 1954, Ellen moved to the big city, Minneapolis, and there she met the love of her life, Robert C. Gaulke. They were married on March 10, 1956, and soon had son Bob, followed by daughter Karen. In 1959, the young family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska.

Ellen was known for many things, but three things in particular stand out: her art, her marriage, and her faith. Ellen was an incredible seamstress and quilter, having learned from her mother-in-law, Irene. Ellen’s attention to detail and drive for perfection were envied by many, and later on, much of her work was enhanced by her own flairs on existing patterns, or her own designs. For years, Ellen was a seamstress for Mary Anne Vaccaro Clothing, in Omaha, a job she loved. But thread and cloth were not her only media. Ellen was an accomplished painter, most often in rosemaling (bespeaking her Swedish heritage), she knit and crocheted, made hand-drawn and painted cards, and more. It seems that anyone Ellen loved has at least a few original knick-knacks, or pieces of rosemaling, or a quilt, or a card, or a Christmas ornament or two, signed “Knute” (Bob’s nickname for Ellen), or “MEG.” They are all treasures.

For 64 years, Ellen and Bob were completely devoted to one another, and Ellen lived without Bob for only six months, as he passed away in March of 2020. As young marrieds, they enjoyed ice-cream socials and other church activities, Friday night square-dancing (complete with costumes designed and made by Ellen), and annual Labor Day trips to see best family friends in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In later years, Bob and Ellen traveled abroad, to Sweden, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. In 1991, Bob and Ellen retired to Hamilton, Montana, a life-long dream of Bob’s. There they hiked, skied, and played in the Montana pines and backyard pond with all the grandkids. As Bob’s health began to decline, the couple moved to McCook, Nebraska to be closer to family. But through all those years, never an anniversary or birthday or Valentine’s Day passed without a personal poem or a special gift shared between the two.

Ellen’s other life-long commitment was to her Lutheran faith. Steadfast Christians, Bob and Ellen were members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and Lutheran Church of the Master, both in Omaha, as well as Faith Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Montana. Ellen sewed many of the banners for these churches, served food at Swedish American dinners, and attended years and years of Bible Study and Church Circles. It comforts the family to know that Bob and Ellen are together again.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Gaulke in March 2020; her two brothers, Allyn and Gary Knutson; and her sister, Roselyn Thorkelson.

Those celebrating Ellen’s life include her children, Bob (Diane) Gaulke of McCook, Nebraska and Karen (Tom) Heyneman of Fishtail, Montana; four grandchildren and their families, Kate (Eric) Bemis of Bellingham, Washington, Libby (Nick) Moga and children Greta, Oliver and Elliott of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Bob (Stephanie) Gaulke and children Cecilia and Britta of McCook, Nebraska and Grant Brunton of Bellingham, Washington.

Ellen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in the Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, at a later date.

Buzzell, age 84, a longtime resident of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away early Sunday morning, October 25, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. (CT) on Saturday morning, October 31, 2020 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.&nbsp; Memorials may be left to the family of Eudean for future designation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.&nbsp; Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Debra Huber Smith, age 65 of Hebron, Nebraska passed into heaven in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 23, 2020 to be with family and friends.

She was born on January 12, 1955 to Phyllis and Pete Huber of Cozad, Nebraska.

Debra was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church in Cozad, and was a 1973 graduate of Cozad High School.

It takes a special person to raise a special needs child, she did this with the help of Miranda Fierce, and strong, independent and &nbsp;loving are just a few words to describe Deb.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was admired by many.

Deb had a heart of gold and was loyal to a fault. Her smile and the sparkle in her eyes will be remembered as well as her infectious laughter. She could light up a room with her smile. Deb was a successful woman in all of her ventures and an intelligent woman.

She is survived by her husband, Jay of Hebron, Nebraska; son, Gavin Hatcher of Hebron, Nebraska; daughter, Miranda Hatcher of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters, Ramona (Wes) Neben of Lexington, Nebraska, Kathy (Chuck) Brauer of North Platte, Nebraska, Shelly Enyeart and friend Capri of Palm Springs, California, Lana (Mike) Nicolen of Holdrege, Nebraska; grandchildren, Henry Hatcher, Lillianna Hatcher and Jack Casebolt all of Lincoln, Nebraska.

A memorial has been established in Debra’s name to be designated at a later date.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. October 30, 2020 at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad, Nebraska.

The service will be livestreamed via Carpenter Memorial Chapel Facebook page for those unable to attend in person. Ellie Renee Siegel, age 12, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away October 21, 2020 at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was born April 13, 2008 to Shane and Jessica (Burke) Siegel in Lincoln, Nebraska.&nbsp; Ellie was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She attended grade school at Lake Maloney Elementary in North Platte, Nebraska before going to North Platte Catholic Schools for the last two years.&nbsp; Ellie was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte.

Ellie brought so much love and joy to everyone in her life. She was a sweet and thoughtful girl who always strived to make others happy. Gentle and loving, Ellie dreamed of one day being a kindergarten teacher.

Though reserved, those who knew Ellie best got to see the goofy and quirky side of her personality and were often left laughing and only wanting more.In her short time on Earth, Ellie touched many lives and will be profoundly missed by so many.
