Lucille, age 99, passed away on April 4th, 2024, at Westview Healthcare Center in Sheridan, Wyoming, surrounded by her family.

Lucille was born August 27, 1924, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Aloysius &amp; Elizabeth Gunther. She came from a family of&nbsp;11&nbsp;brothers&nbsp;&amp; 1 sister.

When she was 24, Lucille met Jess Swick Jr at a country dance, and he became the love of her life. They were married on May 27, 1948, at the St Joseph Catholic Church. Then they moved to a small farm near Gates, Nebraska.&nbsp;

They went on to have 8 children, James (Wanda), Thomas (Brenda), Charles (Debra), Anna (William), Sharon (Phil), Jess, William, and Chancy (Teresa); 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren and their extended families. &nbsp;

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers &amp; sisters. She is survived by all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many extended families.

Lucille enjoyed reading,&nbsp;embroidery, &amp;&nbsp;cross-stitching&nbsp;gifts for her family &amp; friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on April 12, 2024, at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Father Jim Hunt officiating. &nbsp;The burial will be in the Gates Cemetery. &nbsp;Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 11th, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers. &nbsp;A rosary service will be held Thursday at 7 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Lucille Anna (Gunther) Swick (1924-2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Robert Lyle (Bob) Hein of McCook, Nebraska was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado, on November 10, 1939 to Harry and Frieda Hein. He went to his heavenly home on April 4, 2024. He grew up near Culbertson and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1957. Bob married Janet Eileen (Jan) Ficken at Salem Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska on June 17, 1960. They were married for nearly 64 years. With his forever love, Jan, those who will carry Bob’s memory include his daughter, Laura and her husband, Thomas Preston of Omaha; son, Randall and his wife, Dana Evans Hein of Overland Park; and his beloved grandchildren, Katherine Eileen Preston and Evan William Robert Hein. Bob will also be remembered dearly by his sister, Janice Kraus; brother, Eugene Baumfalk; and many other nephews, nieces, relatives, and cherished friends. He joins in heaven his father and mother; brother, Gerald Hein; stepmother, Hannah Hein (Baumfalk); and siblings, Joan Baumfalk and Kenneth Baumfalk.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Bob worked at a meat-packing plant prior to enlisting in the United States Army, serving from 1962-65 and achieving the rank of Spc-4. After completing signal training in Atlanta, Georgia, Bob served as a communications specialist in Korea and became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He joined the Burlington Northern Pacific Railroad (later BNSF) and first worked as a wire chief. Over 37 years, he held many different positions at BNSF before retiring in 2001. While working full time, Bob graduated from Kearney College in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Business. Bob had an unwavering faith and was a member of the Lutheran Church his entire life, where he served on church councils and volunteered often.

&nbsp; &nbsp; As he did with his children, Bob loved nothing more than spending time and doing projects together with his grandchildren. They will never forget sharing root beer floats, Klondike bars, or some cherry pie with ice cream. An expert genealogy researcher, Bob assembled extensive family trees and many records for us to cherish and enjoy. He loved being in his McCook community, and he loved music. Spending time outdoors and in his yard also brought Bob great joy. If there is a lawn and garden in heaven, it will be in perfect shape when we greet him again.

&nbsp; &nbsp; The best and biggest hugs in the world came from Bob. His gentle spirit, generosity, and joyfulness were immeasurable. More than anything he adored and took care of his family, all of whom are forever grateful for who he was and the many blessings and memories he left behind.

Robert "Bob" Lyle Hein (1939-2024)

Ralph E. Anderson, 87, of North Platte, passed away April 5, 2024 at Great Plains Health. &nbsp;He was born April 1, 1937 to Harry and Geneva (Larue) Anderson in his paternal grandparent’s home in Gothenburg.

Ralph attended rural schools, mainly in the Hayes Center area and then graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1954. &nbsp;He married Mary Jane Wendeborn on June 18, 1961 in North Platte. &nbsp;He worked at various ranches in Nebraska and Colorado until 1966. &nbsp;Ralph then went to work for State Department of Roads while Interstate 80 was being built. &nbsp;Following the completion of the interstate, he worked for Nebraska Public Power District for seven years. Ralph and Mary Jane moved to Phoenix and later to Congress, Arizona where he was employed by Speedie Corporation from 1981-2003 at which time he retired. &nbsp;The couple moved back to North Platte in October 2013 because of Mary Jane’s health.

Survivors include children, Peggy (Jed) Snell of Apple Valley, CA, Debbie (Chuck) Carter of Silverthorne, CO, Neal (Kelly) Anderson of Clovis, New Mexico; grandchildren, Kara (Alex) Bustrum of Kalamazoo, MI, Logan (Missy) Snell of Castle Rock, CO, Mary Beth Anderson of Clovis, NM, Brysen Anderson of Farmington, NM; great grandchildren, Jude, Bear, and Ranger Snell of Castle Rock, CO, Adalyn Walsh of Clovis, NM; brothers, Lavern (Linda) Anderson of McKinney, TX, Bruce (Linda) Anderson of Westminster, CO; sisters, Joyce (Rick) Sexton of Cedar Ridge, CO, Gail (Ted) Michals of Black Hawk, CO; sister-in-law, Pat Anderson of Lander, WY; sister-in-law, Alice Robinson of North Platte; numerous other family members and many friends.

Edna Merrell peacefully passed away at the North Platte Care Center on April 6, 2024.

Edna, the daughter of Allen and Dorothy Francis, was born November 24, 1937, at Big Springs, NE, where she grew up and attended school. &nbsp;Edna then began waitressing in Big Springs and Ogallala.

On June 6, 1961, Edna married Robert "Bob" Merrell in Julesburg, CO. &nbsp;They spent the first year living in Big Springs then moved to Colorado, living in Sterling and other places until settling in Nunn. &nbsp;They owned a shoe shop in the town of Eaton and Edna worked at the A&amp;W there so they made many trips between Nunn and Eaton. &nbsp;After Bob died, Edna moved to North Platte to be closer to her family.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Neva Francis; daughter, Rotelle Merrell; and great-granddaughter, Misty.

Survivors include her children, Robert Merrell of North Platte, Charles Merrell (Esther) of Papillion, Roberta Murphy (Robert) of Cozad and Robecca Wolever of Greeley, CO; her sister, Mary Bowker (Richard) of North Platte; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and other family.

Edna Merrell (1937-2024)

Ingrid &nbsp;Brüenner&nbsp;Levine died at her home in North Platte, NE, on March 25, 2024, at the age of 66.&nbsp;

Ingrid was born May 4, 1957, in Hassfurt, Germany, where she was raised. In 1975, she traveled to North Platte and married Terry Levine on February 29, 1976. They were married for over 40 years and enjoyed traveling together.

Terry and Ingrid made a number of trips to Germany and toured different European countries. She frequently joined Terry on trips when he was required to travel for his employer, Union Pacific Railroad. &nbsp;Occasionally, she would make spur-of-the-moment weekend trips to Omaha to visit her nephew, Doug and his family, and she once stayed a month with her nephew, Dee and his family in Rapid City. &nbsp;Just recently, Ingrid and a group of friends enjoyed a cruise to Alaska.

While she spent most of her life in the United States, Ingrid maintained a strong German identity and had a strong circle of family and friends in both places. &nbsp;She sometimes cooked spätzle, German potato salad, or gluehwein during the holidays, and she loved cheering for her favorite German soccer team, FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga League. &nbsp;She and Terry enjoyed owning a number of Volkswagens including a 1971 Karmann Ghia, and several Volkswagen Beetles.

Ingrid was known for her sometimes eclectic sense of fashion which included shirts with funny sayings and socks with individual toes! &nbsp;She was fond of amber jewelry (which she regularly wore) and during the winter, was often seen wearing one of several fur caps she owned. &nbsp;Ingrid will be remembered for her cheerful personality, easy laugh, and fondness for traveling.

She is survived by her brother, Gerhart (Margite); sister-in-law, Aurilla; niece, Diana; nephews, Dee (Twila) and Doug (Amy); great-nephew, Nikolas; and great-nieces, Ashton and Emily.&nbsp;

Ingrid is preceded in death by her parents, Heinz and Hildegard Brüenner; and husband, Terry.

Ingrid Levine (1957-2024)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lynn Marie Griffis, aged 62, of Lexington, KY, who departed this world on March 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished forever.

Born on December 12, 1961, Lynn was lovingly adopted by Elton and Adelle Griffis of Cozad. Growing up alongside her brother, Steve, Lynn enjoyed a vibrant childhood filled with cherished memories shared with her Miller cousins during holiday gatherings, where laughter and a touch of mischief were always present. Summers were particularly special to Lynn, as she dedicated her time to serving as a camp counselor, where she nurtured the hearts and minds of young campers with her warmth and guidance.

After graduating from Cozad High School, where she forged lifelong friendships and nurtured her passion for acting and music, Lynn pursued her academic aspirations with zeal. She earned her MA in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN, followed by a Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. Lynn's dedication to serving others led her to a fulfilling role as an AJOS Minister Chaplain in San Francisco from 1988 to 1989.

Lynn later crossed paths with the love of her life, Kay Cannon. They were married on April 4, 2018, and together they built a life in Lexington, Kentucky, defined by unwavering love, shared laughter, and the companionship of their beloved furry friends. Lynn's deep affection for her niece and nephews, Cory, Kylee, and Cameron, as well as her great niece and nephew, Beau and Dru, was evident in every interaction.

In addition to her brother and immediate family, Lynn also had biological family members, whom she connected with later in life, deepening their bond and enriching her family connections.

A vibrant soul with a passion for creativity, Lynn found solace and joy in crafting artwork from glass and rocks. Her keen eye for beauty manifested in simple moments of wonder, whether admiring a breathtaking sunset or marveling at the world's intrinsic beauty. As the proud owner and operator of Flatwater Spirit Studio, Lynn poured her heart into her artistry, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and inspiration.

Lynn is survived by her brother, Steve Griffis and his wife Julie, her niece and nephews, Cory, Kylee (Burke), Cameron (Natalie), and her great niece and nephew, Dru and Beau Lienemann. She is also remembered fondly by her extended family from the Miller lineage.

Growing up alongside her brother, Steve, Lynn enjoyed a vibrant childhood filled with cherished memories shared with her Miller cousins during holiday gatherings, where laughter and a touch of mischief were always present. Summers were particularly special to Lynn, as she dedicated her time to serving as a camp counselor, where she nurtured the hearts and minds of young campers with her warmth and guidance.After graduating from Cozad High School, where she forged lifelong friendships and nurtured her passion for acting and music, Lynn pursued her academic aspirations with zeal. She earned her MA in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN, followed by a Master of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA. Lynn's dedication to serving others led her to a fulfilling role as an AJOS Minister Chaplain in San Francisco from 1988 to 1989.Lynn later crossed paths with the love of her life, Kay Cannon. They were married on April 4, 2018, and together they built a life in Lexington, Kentucky, defined by unwavering love, shared laughter, and the companionship of their beloved furry friends. Lynn's deep affection for her niece and nephews, Cory, Kylee, and Cameron, as well as her great niece and nephew, Beau and Dru, was evident in every interaction.In addition to her brother and immediate family, Lynn also had biological family members, whom she connected with later in life, deepening their bond and enriching her family connections.A vibrant soul with a passion for creativity, Lynn found solace and joy in crafting artwork from glass and rocks. Her keen eye for beauty manifested in simple moments of wonder, whether admiring a breathtaking sunset or marveling at the world's intrinsic beauty. Lynn Marie Griffis (1961-2024)

&nbsp; Evelyn Mae Hutt, 100, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska.

Evelyn Mae Weaver was born to LeRoy and Ethel Koehn Weaver on August 5, 1923, on a farm southwest of Oconto, Nebraska. She attended grade school at District 231 for eight years and graduated from Lexington High School in 1941. After graduation she attended a business school in Omaha.

Evelyn worked at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant near Grand Island, Nebraska for fourteen months during WWII. She later returned to Lexington where she met her husband, Cecil, who had just returned from military duty. They were married on June 3, 1946, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

After retiring from nineteen years of employment with Prosser Co., K &amp; H Co., Lexington Alfalfa and Bicentennial Cattle Co. (all in the same office) she filled her time making quilts for her children and grandchildren and traveling with her husband in their fifth wheel camper. Evelyn was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 77 years where she served as an Elder, a Deacon, and was on the Personnel and Service Committees. She also volunteered to help assemble the church newsletter and belonged to the Southside Bible Study for several years. Evelyn was active in the Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, and Ex P.O.W. Auxiliary.&nbsp;

She is survived by four children: Judy Tomasek (Bob) of North Platte, Steve (Roxanne) of Perryville, Kentucky, Dan of Johnson Lake and Dee Weaver (Joe) of Johnson Lake. Nine grandchildren: Stacy Schultz (Thad) of Timnath, Colorado, Sean Tomasek (Rene’) of Neenah, Wisconsin, Wade Hutt of Lexington, Kentucky, May Luong (Lou) of Lexington, Kentucky, Tessa Menard (Chae) of Kansas City, Missouri, Tara Kammerer (John) of Overland Park, Kansas, Tawna Abboud of Orlando, Florida, Jamie O’Donnell (Bryan) of Lincoln, and Jeremy Jorgenson (Emily) of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Twenty-four great grandchildren: Brittany, Bethany, Alex, Connor, Ava, Belle, Luke, Maya, Shelby, Parker, Sam, Madison, Alia, Alex, Sofia, Evan, Claudia, Ell, Jones, Erza, Harper, Ivy, Graham, Callum, Claire, and Emerson. Two great, great grandsons: Urijah and Jackson.

&nbsp;Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ethel Weaver, her brothers Gerald and Floyd Weaver, her husband Cecil Hutt, and her nephew, Keith Weaver, who she considered a brother as they were raised together. &nbsp;

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating. A family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Evelyn Mae Hutt (1923-2024)

Kim Shari Falciani of McCook, NE, age 65, passed away with her family by her side on April 4, 2024, at her home in McCook.&nbsp;

Kim was born January 19, 1959, in Bristol, Connecticut to parents Joseph and Priscilla (Poplaski) Martin. &nbsp;

Kim met James Falciani while working at Ralph’s Grocery Store in Oceanside, California. The couple married on August 23,1986 at San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside, California.

In her youth, Kim enjoyed gymnastics and softball. In adulthood, she collected lighthouses, ocean and Hawaii decor, and was very creative. &nbsp;Kim loved to listen to music and was a faithful attendee of the Lighthouse Marina summer concert series at Red Willow Lake near McCook. Her grandchildren, James and Jacob, were her pride and joy and she enjoyed spoiling them any chance she got.&nbsp;

Kim was a member of the Catholic Faith and while living in McCook she taught CCD Classes at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she was also a member.&nbsp;

Kim was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Martin; mother and stepfather, William and Pricilla Paterson; brother, Gary Valente; and brother in law, Gary Brazee.&nbsp;

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Jason Hucker of California and Anita Falciani and Gina (Joe) Vetrovsky, all of McCook, NE; sisters, Diane Brazee of Pittsfield MA and Suzanne (Ronald) Oreb of Van, TX; cousin, Lori (Ray) Carver of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, James and Jacob Vetrovsky and Jade Knight; and a great grandchild, Anastasia Knight.&nbsp;

Dorothy&nbsp;Smith of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away December 26, 2023, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 96.

Dorothy was born April 4, 1927, to Edward and Josephine Hopkins in Chadron where she grew up. &nbsp;After graduating from Chadron High School, Dorothy held several different jobs, her favorite was as a bookkeeper at a Chadron Car Dealership.&nbsp; On August 17, 1947, Dorothy married Gene Smith in Chadron. &nbsp;They made their home on a farm in the Deadhorse Community where they raised their five children: Alan, Carol, David, Ruth and Daniel. &nbsp;In 1970 the family left the farm and moved to Bridgeport, then to North Platte six years later with Gene's job. &nbsp;Dorothy worked at Herberger's Department Store until retiring.&nbsp;

Dorothy was a member of Diamond K Kiwanis Club, the Extension Club, and was a faithful member of the Water Lilies swimming group at the North Platte Rec Center for many years. She also spent many hours volunteering at the Lincoln County Historical Museum.&nbsp;

Dorothy loved family get-togethers and playing games with family and friends. She could always find the good in anyone, and something positive in every situation.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; and her parents, Edward and Josephine Hopkins.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Alan (Joan) Smith of Kingwood, TX, Carol (Jerry) Young of Columbia, MO, David (Jan) Smith of McCook, Ruth (Kevin) Uhrich of North Platte and Daniel (Mary Ann) Smith of Fulshear, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jo Murner, age 93 of Indianola, passed away at the Community Hospital of McCook on April 2, 2024. She was bon in Mott, North Dakota on September 14, 1930, to Gale and Cora (Oliene) Rounds. &nbsp;She and the family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where Jo graduated from Rapid City High School.

On March 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Murner in Rapid City. &nbsp;To this union four children were born: William, David, Lorri, and Kimmie. Bill preceded her in death on March 18, 2016.

&nbsp;Jo and William owned a GM dealership in Custer, where Jo helped by keeping the books. &nbsp;The couple traveled to Hawaii and all over the United States. &nbsp;They would winter in either TX or AZ. &nbsp;In February of 2018, Jo moved to Indianola to be close to family. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Jo was an avid bird watcher and loved feeding them. &nbsp;She enjoyed the Casino’s, crocheting, making quilts and Christmas Stockings. In her younger years she and Bill would go to square dances. She loved being around family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents Gale and Cora; and a brother, Gerald Rounds.

Jo is survived by her two sons, William and wife Patricia of Custer, SD, David, and wife Colette &nbsp;of Rapid City, two daughters, Lorri and husband Ernie Schleuning of Rapid City, SD, Kimmie and husband Brent May of Indianola, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.

Jo Murner (1930-2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; James Leroy Brown, Jr. was born on March 24, 1935 at the family home outside Trenton, Nebraska to Kenneth “Mike” and Bernice (Jones) Brown. &nbsp;He attended and graduated from Trenton High School. &nbsp;Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for 14 years as an aircraft maintenance technician. &nbsp; &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; On Oct. 22, 1953, Jim was united in marriage to Leota May Porter in Palisade, Nebraska. To this union five children were born. Upon Jim’s honorable discharge from the Air Force, at the rank of technical sergeant, Jim and Leota returned home to Nebraska. &nbsp;Jim worked with Leota’s family on the farm outside of Palisade, Nebraska for three years. &nbsp;Jim retired from farming and he and Leota made their final move to Trenton where they owned and operated their own business, Jim's Garage &amp; Upholstery for many years.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim was a man who could fix anything. &nbsp;He was well known for taking things that others viewed as flawed, worthless, and broken and putting them back together with his skilled hands and determined mind. &nbsp;Upon his retirement he took to woodworking, creating countless treasured pieces that still survive today in the collections of his friends and family. &nbsp;Jim also enjoyed collecting guns and shooting sports, to say he had acquired a few firearms over the years would be an understatement. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at Community Hospital in McCook on Monday, April 2, 2024. &nbsp;In addition to his family, he will be missed by the coffee crew on top of the hill in Trenton and by his countless friends; Jim never knew a stranger.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Brown; his parents, Kenneth Michael and Bernice Katherine Brown; brother, Larry Brown; and grandson, Troy Simmons.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Survivors include his children: Rodney (Sharon) Brown, Bernice (David) Gil, Richard (Jamila) Brown, Brenda (Jim) Heiney, and Robin Klein; 14 grandsons; three granddaughters; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Penny) Brown; sisters, Peggy Graff, Carol Williams, Vicki (Bob) Adams, and Bette Freeman.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Memorial services with military honors are scheduled for 11AM on, Monday, April 8, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. &nbsp;A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

 </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; James Leroy Brown, Jr. was born on March 24, 1935 at the family home outside Trenton, Nebraska to Kenneth “Mike” and Bernice (Jones) Brown. &nbsp;He attended and graduated from Trenton High School. &nbsp;Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for 14 years as an aircraft maintenance technician. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; On Oct. 22, 1953, Jim was united in marriage to Leota May Porter in Palisade, Nebraska. To this union five children were born. Upon Jim’s honorable discharge from the Air Force, at the rank of technical sergeant, Jim and Leota returned home to Nebraska. &nbsp;Jim worked with Leota’s family on the farm outside of Palisade, Nebraska for three years. &nbsp;Jim retired from farming and he and Leota made their final move to Trenton where they owned and operated their own business, Jim's Garage &amp; Upholstery for many years.&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim was a man who could fix anything. &nbsp;He was well known for taking things that others viewed as flawed, worthless, and broken and putting them back together with his skilled hands and determined mind. &nbsp;Upon his retirement he took to woodworking, creating countless treasured pieces that still survive today in the collections of his friends and family. &nbsp;Jim also enjoyed collecting guns and shooting sports, to say he had acquired a few firearms over the years would be an understatement. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at Community Hospital in McCook on Monday, April 2, 2024. &nbsp;In addition to his family, he will be missed by the coffee crew on top of the hill in Trenton and by his countless friends; Jim never knew a stranger.&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Brown; his parents, Kenneth Michael and Bernice Katherine Brown; brother, Larry Brown; and grandson, Troy Simmons.&nbsp; &nbsp; Survivors include his children: Rodney (Sharon) Brown, Bernice (David) Gil, Richard (Jamila) Brown, Brenda (Jim) Heiney, and Robin Klein; 14 grandsons; three granddaughters; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Penny) Brown; sisters, Peggy Graff, Carol Williams, Vicki (Bob) Adams, and Bette Freeman.&nbsp; &nbsp; Memorial services with military honors are scheduled for 11AM on, Monday, April 8, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. &nbsp;A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Mary Lou Crews, age 84 of Brule died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Edgewood Memory Care Facility in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Mary Lou was born on January 22, 1940, in Brule, Nebraska to James and Ella (Bauer) Comer. She attended Brule schools and graduated from Brule High School in 1957.

Mary Lou married Paul D. Crews on June 14, 1959, at the First Congregational Church in Brule, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Ogallala and had such a great love for Lake McConaughy that they built a log home on the lake.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Crews; a daughter-in-law Melodee Thompson Crews; a brother Jimmy Comer and, a sister Maxine Kipp.

Mary Lou is survived by her son Craig (Wendy) Crews of Summerset, South Dakota; her daughter Julie (Kim) Hothan of Ogallala, Nebraska; brother Kenny (Fran) Comer of Brule, Nebraska; sister Lois Schuett of Kearney, Nebraska and sister-in-law Rosie Comer; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and other family and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am in the&nbsp; Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, Nebraska with Reverend Curt Magelky of the United Methodist Church of Ogallala officiating.

Mary Lou Crews (1940-2024)

Beth died peacefully at Great Plains Hospital in North Platte, NE, April 3rd, with family by her side. &nbsp;She was born on April 6, 1977 in Skagway, Alaska to Del and Kay Almond. &nbsp;She completed their family joining sisters Kelly and Jennifer.

The family soon moved to Alliance, Nebraska and into a neighborhood filled with friends and family including her cousins, Travis, Trevor, and Todd.

She attended St. Agnes Academy, graduating from Alliance High School with the Class of 1995. She furthered her education by attending LPN school receiving her diploma alongside her childhood friend Hilary (Bauer) Gomez.

Beth was united in marriage to Chris Cook in July of 2001, and to this union Hunter Thomas and Kennedi Kay were added making their family complete.

Her desire to continue in her nursing profession led her to receive her R.N. and BSN. &nbsp;She worked in the North Platte area most of her career. She always had a love for the elderly and disabled. &nbsp;This led her to a new career role at the North Platte Opportunity Center while still carrying on her duties in the nursing field at Lighthouse LLC.

Her greatest joy without a doubt were her children, Hunter and Kennedi. &nbsp;She was their biggest cheerleader and advocate in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her father, Delton.

Elizabeth "Beth" Almond Cook (1977-2024)

Marilyn Kay Licking 79, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, died on March 29, 2024 at the Bickford Estates in Lincoln, Nebraska where she spent the last year of her life.

Marilyn was born on May 31, 1944 in Lincoln, Nebraska to David and Marie (Kaiser) Filbert. Aside from a short period in Columbus, the family spent most of Marilyn’s early years in Lincoln. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church near the state Capitol building where she was baptized and confirmed.

Marilyn graduated with high academics from University High School in Lincoln. From there she went to study pharmacy at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she met Charles Licking at a Towne Club sorority gathering. The two fell in love, courted, and married at Trinity Lincoln on April 13, 1968. They lived on the Licking Angus Ranch in the Sandhills until 1981 when they moved to Lexington. Their marriage lasted almost 55 years with Marilyn’s beloved husband Charlie preceding her in death on Easter 2023 shortly before their anniversary.

Two children blessed their union, a daughter Kim (Kimberly) and a son Chris (Christopher). Kim lives and works in Lincoln while Chris and his wife Ami and their daughter Jasmine live and work in Lacey, Washington.

Marilyn worked at several family-owned pharmacies over the years until her retirement. She was heavily involved at her church Trinity Lutheran of Lexington in worship and bible studies, LWML, service guild groups, vocal and handbell choirs, and other committees as the need arose. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends in a variety of ways.

Preceding Marilyn in death include her husband, Charles; parents, David and Marie Filbert; brother and sister-in-law, David and Alice Filbert; sister, Carol Ann Filbert; parents-in-law, Clyde and Vera Licking; sister-in-law, Virginia French and Virginia’s husband Albert.&nbsp;

Survivors include daughter, Kimberly; son, Christopher and his wife Ami; granddaughter, Jasmine; brother, Richard Filbert and his wife Raydene; sister-in-law, Charlotte Renner and her husband Terry; and many nieces and nephews with their families.

Marilyn Kay Licking (1944-2024)

Michael Julius Soper passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the age of 68 at Sedgewick County Health Center in Julesburg, CO.

Michael was born August 2, 1955, in Ogallala, NE, to Max and Phyllis Soper.&nbsp; He attended school in Big Springs, NE.&nbsp; Living in the Big Springs community his entire life, he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Jimenez, where they pursued their love for farming and ranching while raising their 3 daughters.&nbsp; Michael was not only Judy’s husband, business partner but also her best friend.&nbsp; While on the farm, the girls worked alongside Michael and Judy as a family.&nbsp; During his farming, Michael won the High 10 Sugar Beet award.&nbsp; He served on the Big Springs CO-OP elevator board and 4-H livestock board.&nbsp; Michael’s fondest memories were the years that he spent with his daughters on their market steers.&nbsp; Michael found so much joy in following his children and then his grandchildren to their sporting events, school activities, and the Deuel County Fair.&nbsp; After years of farming and ranching, his health began to deteriorate but he still tried to help where he could.&nbsp; Farming was Michael’s life, and he took much pride in raising his crops.&nbsp; His friends and family will miss his rough exterior but heart of gold, his orneriness, and his ability to always tell a story.

Michael is survived by his wife, Judy and three daughters, Jessica (Chet) Brooks - Alliance, NE, Jennifer (Zach Ziegler) Evans - Big Springs, NE and Joy (Michael) Cearns - Big Springs.&nbsp; He is survived by his father, Floyd “Max” Soper - Big Springs and 4 sisters, Mary Rochlitz - Big Springs, Melodie (Ken) Woodworth - Big Springs, Michelle (Mark) Armstrong - Big Springs and Mona (Christopher) Garcia - Cheyenne along with numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He has 4 granddaughters, Aubrey DeNae, Makala Gene, McKinley Saige, and Trinity Jo and 5 grandsons Cooper Jacob, Conner James, Hudson Duane, Ryker Ray, and Max Michael.

Michael is preceded in death by his infant son, Michael Julius Soper, II; his mother, Phyllis Soper, and his grandmother, Margaret Soper.

Ken went home on March 25th due to health complications in North Platte, NE at the age of 66. Ken was raised in Manlius, NY and graduated from Fayetteville Manlius High school in 1975. He was involved in basketball, baseball and golf. After school, Ken was employed in the auto and heavy equipment business in sales and service management. He retired in 2022 and resided in Berwyn, NE until his passing.

Ken is predeceased by his wife Georgia Weaver Fountain and mother JoAnne Gordon Fountain. He is survived by his father Richard K. Fountain Sr. sister Lynda Ramirez (Albert), brother Gregg (Sheila).

A Memorial service and reception will be held on Monday May 20th 2:00 p.m. at St. James Church in Cazenovia, NY.

R. Kenneth Fountain, Jr. (1957-2024)

Janice “Jan” Kotschwar, age 57, of McCook, NE, passed away at her home in McCook on April 2, 2024.

Jan was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on February 26, 1967, to her parents Gerald and Judith (Hogeland) Thompson.

Janice, known to friends as "Jan," had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of love. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1986 and went on to build a life surrounded by family and friends who meant the world to her.

On June 6, 1987, Jan married Joseph Kotschwar in Fairfield, NE. The couple was blessed with three children.&nbsp;

In her free time, Jan found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought out her creativity and sense of adventure. From crafting and painting to playing APA pool and collecting rocks, she had a diverse set of passions that showcased her unique personality. Jan also had a deep appreciation for attending music concerts, especially the Pondstock Music Festival in Trenton. Her love for sunflowers, dogs, and motorcycle rides reflected her appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Thompson; sister, Susan Thompson; and foster father, Gene Smith.&nbsp;

 </figure>Janice “Jan” Kotschwar, age 57, of McCook, NE, passed away at her home in McCook on April 2, 2024.Jan was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on February 26, 1967, to her parents Gerald and Judith (Hogeland) Thompson.Janice, known to friends as "Jan," had a vibrant spirit and a heart full of love. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1986 and went on to build a life surrounded by family and friends who meant the world to her.On June 6, 1987, Jan married Joseph Kotschwar in Fairfield, NE. The couple was blessed with three children.&nbsp;In her free time, Jan found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought out her creativity and sense of adventure. From crafting and painting to playing APA pool and collecting rocks, she had a diverse set of passions that showcased her unique personality. Jan also had a deep appreciation for attending music concerts, especially the Pondstock Music Festival in Trenton. Janice "Jan" Kotschwar (1967-2024)

&nbsp; Steven Mitchell Harden, 78, of Lemoyne, passed away on March 25, 2024, in Kearney, NE.&nbsp; Steve was born on August 16, 1945, in Tolono, Illinois, to Orville Clyde Harden and Anabel Miriam (Dodge) Harden.&nbsp; In 1966, Steve joined the United States Navy, serving until 1969. Following his service, he worked as an electrical engineer for PBX for many years. On July 13, 1977, Steve married Roslyn R. Schellhorn. The couple would eventually settle north of Lake McConaughy, where they enjoyed a slower pace of life.&nbsp; Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy Wilson and Joan Harden. He is survived by his wife, Roslyn of Lemoyne; daughter, Stahsha (Greg) of North Platte; son, Chris of Arvada, Colorado; grandkids Issac, Shyanne, Sage, Tabor, Terick, Gavin, Danika, and Gabriel; three great-grandsons, Ryker, Levi, and Leo; a brother, John (Margie) Harden of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Jerilyn (Steve) of Brighton, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Merl “Buzz” Kettleborough age 89, formerly of Sargent, died April 1, 2024, at the Emerald Lake Care Home in Grand Island.

Merl “Buzz” Dean Kettleborough was born on October 29, 1934, at home in Comstock, NE to John and Verna (Newcomb) Kettleborough. He grew up in Custer County, NE. Buzz lived southwest of Anselmo where he farmed for many years. After selling the farm he met Alta Wilson, they married, and then the couple moved to Sargent. They bought and ran a carnival for many years. Later, they sold the carnival, and the couple moved to Taylor. Buzz took up trucking to support his family. Buzz and Alta ran the Bar/Café in Sargent and Taylor for many years. Alta passed away on July 4, 2005. Buzz continued to drive truck until 2017, when he finally retired and moved to Sargent. Buzz said, “I’ve backed more miles than most guys have drove.” He also liked to say that he had driven coast to coast and border to border. Due to failing health, Buzz became a resident at the Emerald Lakeview Care Home in Grand Island in 2022.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Buzz is survived by his children; Danny Kettleborough, Debbie (Rich) York, LeAnn (Scott) Weaver, Tim (Julie) Kettleborough, John (Brenda) Kettleborough, and Casey Kettleborough, stepchildren; Daisy Jackson and Robbie (Cindy) Wilson, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alta, a stepdaughter Laurie Rudnick, a stepson Randy Wilson, and brothers Glen and Gary.

Virginia Ann Nelson was born on August 3, 1938, at Hazard, Nebraska to Oscar and Virginia (Miller) Hunter. &nbsp; She grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska and graduated from Thedford High School. &nbsp;After high school, Ann taught in a moveable one-room schoolhouse for 3 years. &nbsp;Ann was married to Kenneth “Red” Nelson on August 9, 1956. &nbsp;

Ann worked as the manager of Stockman’s Café in Broken Bow and later as a waitress at the Tumbleweed Café in Broken Bow. &nbsp;She spent over 40 years serving the customers of Broken Bow. &nbsp;Ann was also well-known in the community for her 52 years of selling Avon. &nbsp;Ann enjoyed bowling with the local women’s bowling leagues. &nbsp;Ann was a member of the Broken Bow Doe’s and Rebekah’s.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Red”, and a daughter Kennetha.

Ann is survived by daughter Kenda (Mike) Ekdahl of North Platte, son Troy (Betsy) Nelson of Falls City, grandchildren Mick Ekdahl, Luke Ekdahl, Mackensie Nelson, Riley Nelson, and Connor Nelson, and unofficial adopted daughter Carmen (Anson) Bumgarner.

Justin Sprague, age 43 of Thedford, NE passed away March 30, 2024, due to injuries from an auto accident.

Justin Jesse Sprague was born on April 9th, 1980, in Alma, Nebraska to Dale and Jane Sprague. &nbsp; Justin was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and remained a devout member throughout his life. He spent his younger years riding and driving horses with the family and was active in junior rodeos and 4H. &nbsp;Justin attended Wilcox Public Schools and graduated in 1999. &nbsp;He high school rodeoed in Nebraska, riding bareback, saddle broncs, and bulls.

Justin went on to attend Colby Community College where he rodeoed as well. After college, he continued to ride bareback and was a qualifier for the Mid-States Rodeo Association and Nebraska State Rodeo Association year-end finals several times.

Justin had another passion he picked up along the way, bullfighting. He was voted Bull Fighter of The Year in the Mid-States Rodeo Association 3 times. Whether it was while he was competing, or fighting bulls, Justin met an innumerable amount of friends along the rodeo trail and loved to share stories and memories from those travels.

Justin worked on multiple ranches over the years, where he met lifelong friends and became part of communities that were always close to his heart. Most recently he enjoyed his work at the Upper Loup Natural Resources Department in Thedford, NE.

One of the proudest moments for Justin was when Emmett Dale was born on April 4th, 2011.

Justin never knew a stranger and was happy to visit for hours with anyone he happened to cross paths with. &nbsp;He loved catching up with an old friend or anyone he had met throughout the years. &nbsp; Justin had the biggest heart and would go out of his way to help someone out.

Justin’s special friend, Amy, and her daughter, Braylee, were also a special light in his life.

Justin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Warren &amp; Jayne Sprague, maternal grandparents Jim &amp; Katherine Eliker, and a stepson, Taylor Rowan.

Justin is survived by his son Emmett Sprague, parents Dale &amp; Jane Sprague of Huntley, NE, sister Jill (Kelie) Bates of Kearney, brother James (Megan) Sprague of Tryon, nieces, and nephews Bailey Bates (fiancé Coby Cassidy), Gabriel Bates, Ryder Sprague, &amp; Piper Sprague, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
