Our beloved "Mom", "Jackie", and "Missus Reynolds" was called home on Friday, April 5th, 2024.&nbsp;

She was a fabulous mother and person. Jackie was always there when anyone needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in North Platte.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Andrew and Caroline Theresa Cline, her brother, Sam Cline, her husband, Dick Reynolds, and her much-loved, Jeffrey Pearson.&nbsp;

Jackie is survived by her daughter, JulieLynn Reynolds, her dog, Bailey, and about four thousand kindergarteners.&nbsp;

Graveside services and a celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Plainview Cemetery in Maxwell, NE. &nbsp;Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Jacqueline Reynolds (1942-2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Kathleen “Kat” Bradley was born on June 23, 1961 in McCook, Nebraska to James and Deloris (Dauphineais) Biggins. &nbsp;She attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1979. &nbsp;Kat was united in marriage to Doug Bradley on December 11, 1999.&nbsp; The couple made McCook their lifelong home.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Kat enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns for sport. &nbsp;She loved time spent with family and friends as well as reading a good book. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Kat passed away on April 7, 2024 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. &nbsp;She was 61 years of age.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmy Biggins.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Kat is survived by her husband, Doug of McCook; son, Jesse Hayden and longtime partner, Christina Lee of McCook; daughter, Randi Crawley and husband, Colin Crawley of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren: Alex Wagner, Aubrie Hake, Sage Hayden, and Sawyer Hayden; and a half-brother, Steve Fleek of Seward, Nebraska.

Kathleen Bradley (1961-2024)

Rita West, age 67, has finally stopped renewing her subscription to this mortal coil and, after a spirited showdown with cancer, checked out at North Platte Care Center on April 11, 2024. Born on February 26, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a true force of nature from the get-go, courtesy of Richard and Beatrice (Jacobs) West.

Rita's love for her large family was as vibrant as her personality, especially her brother Roy, whom she always hoped to reconnect with. Rita held her faith close to her heart, and her well-thumbed Bible was as steadfast a companion as her quick-witted, spicy sarcasm.

After seasoning the streets of Tucson, Arizona, for 25 years with her fiery charm, Rita decided it was time for a change of scenery and shifted her base to Nebraska. Here, she continued to spice up the lives of her many friends and caregivers, who found her spirit and sharp humor utterly irresistible.

Rita often said she couldn't wait to see her mama again, and while those of us left behind might not be ready to let her go, we take comfort in knowing there's one heck of a reunion happening on the other side. In lieu of flowers, requests that donations be made to a local cancer charity, in hopes of giving cancer the boot once and for all.

Cremation was chosen. Services are pending. &nbsp;Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home will be orchestrating Rita’s final standing ovation. &nbsp;We'll miss her fiercely.

Jentry Lobner, 46, of Lewellen passed away Friday, April 12, 2024 in Denver.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Lewellen Tiger Den with Brenda Tophoj, PMA officiating.&nbsp; Private burial in the Fairview Cemetery will be held prior to the service.

Jentry Alexander was born December 12, 1977 in Ogallala to Conrad and Peggy (Frahm) Lobner. &nbsp;He joined Stephanie and Cameron and completed the family. &nbsp; He was raised on the family ranch north of Lewellen attending at District 38 the went in to town and graduated from Lewellen Rural High School in 1996.

After high school he joined his family working on the 07 Ranch working next to his father and brother. &nbsp; For the last few years, Jentry ventured off and pursued his passion for ranching on his own. &nbsp;&nbsp;

In March 2009 he met Tiffany Fisher of Lewellen, and they began a family together welcoming son, Alexander Conrad in 2012. &nbsp;Together they raised Dominic, Olivia, Daniel and Alex on their family farm.

Jentry is survived by his wife, Tiffany of Lewellen, parents, Peggy and Conrad Lobner of Lewellen; children, Dominic, Olivia, Daniel and Alex all of Lewellen, siblings, Stephanie Lobner and partner Christina Nord of Lewellen, &nbsp;Cameron and wife Lacey Lobner of Lewellen; nieces and nephews, Wyland, Wilsie, and Willow; uncle, Aaron Lobner and family; aunt, Garnet Storer and family; &nbsp;mother and father in law, Gary and Patty Fisher of Lewellen; brother-in-law, George Fisher; and other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alex and Miller Lobner, maternal grandparents Clayton and Opal Frahm, and uncles Bryce Frahm and Welby Anderson.

Nita Susan (Wroot) Miller, 68 of North Platte, went home to be with her Lord &amp; Savior Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family, after losing her battle against endometrial cancer. &nbsp;She was born, March 6, 1956, in Hastings, Nebraska to Marie Jane (Batterman) and Eugene Willis Wroot. &nbsp;She lived in Hastings, then Arkansas, later in Colorado with her husband Jim. &nbsp;Then the couple settled in North Platte to be close to her family and loved ones.

Nita was a devoted member of Parkview Nazarene Church in North Platte. &nbsp;Her mission was to bring everyone to The Lord. &nbsp;She was a devout person of faith. &nbsp;Praying for and helping anyone who had a need. &nbsp;Her prayer group was a very special part of her life. She learned from them, and she shared with them. &nbsp;Nita walked her walk with the Lord in everything she did. &nbsp;Nita was the best person. &nbsp;She always had a happy smile on her face. &nbsp;When you spent time with her, most likely that time was exchanging stores of kids, grandkids, her niece and nephews, and most recently the newest addition to her circle of love was her great nephew. &nbsp;Her pride was in their lives and their accomplishments This was evident in everything around her. &nbsp;Pictures, LOTS of pictures on the walls and on the fridge. &nbsp;She made each child feel special. &nbsp;Casey, Kylie, Kade, Mike and David, affectionately call her “Dig” or “Nini”. &nbsp;They could all tell stories of her spoiling them rotten, venturing out in the middle of the night to pick up ice cream, always being there for them in every situation. &nbsp;Her family was her heart. &nbsp;She will always be theirs. &nbsp;She and Jim had a wonderful life. &nbsp;The couple was married for 38 years. &nbsp;They raised their family and built a life of love and respect for each other. &nbsp;Nita loved their “Little House on the Prairie.” Gardening, both food and flowers, brought her joy. &nbsp;Being outdoors with all of the things God had put in her view, gave her strength when hers was failing. &nbsp;Nita Miller was a fighter for the lives of unborn Children. &nbsp;She was a vital part of the PRO-LIFE movement;&nbsp; making sure that everyone in charge of anything to do with PRO-LIFE knew her name. &nbsp;As she stepped through the Gates of Heaven, she heard the words, “Well done, thy Good and Faithful Servant.”

Nita was preceded in Death by her parents Eugene and Marie Wroot; brother, Timmy Eugene Wroot.

Survivors of Dianne include her children, Danny (Dana) Walker of Eddyville, Johnny (Kathy) Cline of Eddyville, LouAnne Cline of North Platte; grandchildren, Katie (Jason) Hissong, Dalton Walker, Chris Walker; great grandchildren; sister, Jannet (Bruce) Peck of North Platte; brothers, Clifford (Peggy) Walker, William Walker, Roger (Diane) Walker, all of Cozad; sister-in-law, Patricia Walker of Smith Center, KS; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dianne "Nanna" E Cline (1952-2024)

Clare Hinman Mesmer, 90, of North Platte, Nebraska, died on April 11th, 2024 at Great Plains Health. Surely heaven’s chorus is sounding more vibrant for it. &nbsp;She was born in 1934 to York and Helen Hinman in North Platte, Nebraska. She involved herself in church activities, Jobs Daughters, Camp Fire, and 4-H in which she won trips to the State Fair in music, sewing, and cooking. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1952 where she was active in many activities including vocal and instrumental music.

Clare graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1956 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She was president of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, and involved in many campus organizations including Mortar Board Society. She sang in many groups, including the First-Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln. &nbsp; On July 14th, 1956, she married Theodore Joseph Mesmer in North Platte. Their family grew as they raised three children: Elizabeth, John and Helen Ann. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught for 5 years in North Platte as a speech pathologist, then later for 4 ½ years for ESU 16. Her community activities included: P.E.O. Chapter EB, Junior Women’s Club, Goodfellow Shoe Fund, an organizing member of the Chamber of Commerce Hostesses, a Campfire leader for 10 years, and a Boy Scout den mother. If she wasn’t sewing badges onto uniforms, she was organizing activities and outings, and corralling neighborhood kids to play and eat at 814 W. 2nd. She made that house a home where all were welcome. Quite frequently, the home was stuffed with family feasting in the formal dining room with the kids eating in the backroom. The roaster was going, the stovetop was full and the oven was hot. Mesmers, Armstrongs, Hinmans, Reeds, and Carters came, watched the Huskers and reveled in the joyous, rambunctious atmosphere of family loving each other.&nbsp;

In 1979, the family moved to Gallup, New Mexico, where they owned/operated a Holiday Inn. Instead of being intimidated by the new environment, Clare dug in and taught us one of the most valuable lessons she could have: bloom where you’re planted. In Gallup, she became a member of P.E.O. She was asked to help with the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial jewelry show, in which she almost knocked Robert Redford over. She hosted many friends and family in which she embraced the local cuisine whole-heartedly, even after she mistook jalapenos for green chilis in a recipe. &nbsp;In 1983, the family moved to Taos, N.M., still involved with Holiday Inns. She was a Girl Scout leader and helped at the hotel wherever possible. The family bought a half-built property in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in which she transformed into a large, comfortable home in which many visited and enjoyed her hospitality. When times became tough, Joe went to Mesa ahead of her and she ran the Taos hotel until we were ready to join him in Arizona. &nbsp;In Arizona, Clare taught for 15+ years, retiring on 5/30/2002. She was a beloved member of P.E.O. Chapter AL in Tempe, AZ. She had her Realtor license as well served as a tour guide for a short period of time for Pointe Resorts. She loved the arts community and went to countless musicals and plays. She saw the Monet, Keith Haring, Annie Leibowitz exhibits, and many others and made sure we each could see them as well. When we attended the opera (whether in Santa Fe or in Phoenix), she would have us read the libretto so we’d understand the plot.

In 2005, Clare and Joe returned to North Platte. She demitted to P.E.O. Chapter EB, was involved as a hospital volunteer, and served as president and a buyer for Goodfellow Shoe Fund. She also spent time reading, playing bridge, and sewing. However, she was happiest spending time with family and friends. She loved watching Megan grow and succeed and she thrived under Megan’s care during the pandemic; she was care-taker to Tony and championed him as he grew healthier and became a young adult; and welcomed Nastia from shores afar and beamed with pride as she became a United States citizen.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children: Elizabeth (Boone) Dailey; John (Natalia) Mesmer; and Helen-Ann Mesmer; her grandchildren: Megan (Brittney Ogborn) Dailey, Anastasia Barmina (Arman), and Tony Mesmer; and her beloved sister Jeannie (Butch) Armstrong, Fred (Pam) Mesmer and Dick Reed, along with an abundance of nieces and nephews who all shared in her hospitality. Clare was especially loved by furrgrands Walter, Kyiv, and Frankie. Clare was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; their infant son Theodore Joseph; her parents York and Helen Hinman; her in-laws Fred and Anne Mesmer; sister Diane Reed and brother Bob Hinman; and innumerable dogs who all knew her spirit was magical. Family suggests memorials to the Goodfellow Shoe Fund.&nbsp;

Services are Thursday, April 18th, at 11am, Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with luncheon at The Moose following. &nbsp;

 </figure>Clare Hinman Mesmer, 90, of North Platte, Nebraska, died on April 11th, 2024 at Great Plains Health. Surely heaven’s chorus is sounding more vibrant for it. &nbsp;She was born in 1934 to York and Helen Hinman in North Platte, Nebraska. She involved herself in church activities, Jobs Daughters, Camp Fire, and 4-H in which she won trips to the State Fair in music, sewing, and cooking. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1952 where she was active in many activities including vocal and instrumental music.Clare graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1956 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She was president of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, and involved in many campus organizations including Mortar Board Society. She sang in many groups, including the First-Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln. &nbsp; On July 14th, 1956, she married Theodore Joseph Mesmer in North Platte. Their family grew as they raised three children: Elizabeth, John and Helen Ann. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught for 5 years in North Platte as a speech pathologist, then later for 4 ½ years for ESU 16. Her community activities included: P.E.O. Chapter EB, Junior Women’s Club, Goodfellow Shoe Fund, an organizing member of the Chamber of Commerce Hostesses, a Campfire leader for 10 years, and a Boy Scout den mother. If she wasn’t sewing badges onto uniforms, she was organizing activities and outings, and corralling neighborhood kids to play and eat at 814 W. 2nd. She made that house a home where all were welcome. Quite frequently, the home was stuffed with family feasting in the formal dining room with the kids eating in the backroom. The roaster was going, the stovetop was full and the oven was hot. Mesmers, Armstrongs, Hinmans, Reeds, and Carters came, watched the Huskers and reveled in the joyous, rambunctious atmosphere of family loving each other.&nbsp;In 1979, the family moved to Gallup, New Mexico, where they owned/operated a Holiday Inn. Instead of being intimidated by the new environment, Clare dug in and taught us one of the most valuable lessons she could have: bloom where you’re planted. In Gallup, she became a member of P.E.O. Connor Jon Amsberry was born on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at 2:41 p.m. to parents Wade and Hannah (Jakubowski) Amsberry of Ansley, Nebraska at Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. He was a perfect baby boy, weighing 1 pound 5.5 ounces and was 12 inches long. Connor spent the last moments of his life being loved in his parents’ arms before joining his heavenly home that day. With extremely broken hearts and unconditional love for our sweet boy, we know that he is now in the hands of the Lord and wrapped in the arms of his Grandma Kara.

Charles K. Trumbull, 84, of Callaway, Nebraska, died on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway, Nebraska.

He was born June 12, 1939 to Ray and Grace (Latin) Trumbull in Stapleton Nebraska. Charles attended school at McPherson County High School and graduated with the class of 1957. &nbsp;He joined the National Guard in 1957 and proudly served his country until 1963 when he was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to Elsie Parks on September 12, 1966, in Bridgeport, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: Kent, Dan, and Willy. The family moved to Callaway, Nebraska from Grand Island in 1982. Charles was a heavy equipment mechanic and worked several years for the Custer County Department of Roads.&nbsp;

Charles loved his Model A, you would see Charles cruising around town, participating in parades and showing his car at shows. Charles and Elsie loved to travel and go on vacations. He always looked forward to spending time with his buddies at the café for coffee and lunch. Family was important to Charles, and he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He always enjoyed following their activities as well.

Charles was a past member of the Golden Rod Car Club, Flatlanders and Model A Restorer’s Club. &nbsp;

Survivors include his sons, Kent and his wife Molly of Callaway, Dan and his wife Jolleen of Callaway, and Willy and his wife Christie of Broken Bow; eight grandchildren, Sandy (Mike) of Broken Bow, Allison of Callaway, Kelsey (Rusty) of Arnold, Brittany (Devon) of Callaway, Natalie (Quincy) of Broken Bow, Calvin, John and Clyde of Broken Bow; three great-grandchildren, Skylar of Broken Bow, Rylee and Rayden of Arnold; sister, Jacque Trumbull of Stapleton, Nebraska; sister in-law, Katherine Chu of Kearney, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Grace Trumbull, wife Elsie, his in-laws Homer and Maxine Parks, and great grandchild Mack Wyckoff.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Callaway Community Church in Callaway with Pastor Dean Haidle, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.

Charles K Trumbull (1939-2024)

Donald “Don” E. Reiners touched the lives of many with his kind heart and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Don's journey came to a peaceful close on April 11, 2024, at his home on the farm outside of Indianola, NE surrounded by his loved ones.&nbsp;

Don was born on April 19, 1941, in McCook, NE to parents Franklin and Irene (Cotton) Reiners. &nbsp; He grew up on the family farm southwest of Indianola with his 4 siblings, which was also the home place he farmed his entire life.

Graduating from Red Willow High School with the Class of 1959, he was a three-sport athlete earning All-State honors in both football and basketball. &nbsp;One of his fondest memories was the success of his Red Willow Zephyrs football, basketball and track &amp; field teams. During his junior and senior seasons, they went on an unprecedented run of 5 state championships (Football-1957, Track-1958, Football-1958, Basketball-1959, Track &amp; Field-1959 and one state runner-up finish (Basketball-1958). The Nebraska High School Hall of Fame inducted the Zephyrs 1958/59 football, basketball and track &amp; field teams in 2008 for their success under Coach Don McKillip. &nbsp;After high school Don went on to play football and run track while obtaining an associate degree in education at McCook Community College and then attended Kearney State College for two years. After college his sense of duty to his country and community started, evidenced by his service in the United States Army from 1964-1966.

Upon returning home, Don met the love of his life, Lois (Roth). The two were married at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on April 15, 1968, and the couple made their home southwest of Indianola with their four children: Angela, John, Joe and Michelle to become the 3rd&nbsp;generation to farm the Reiners homeplace. He had the belief in that hard work solved many problems and carried this into his love of farming and raising cattle on the family farm. Don truly cherished his relationships with all his neighbors and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

A true family man, Don enjoyed coaching his kids in basketball, t-ball, and serving as a 4-H leader. Don &amp; Lois first met at a dance in 1967 and their love for dancing continued through square-dancing, weddings and many other functions. Vacations were a big part of Don’s love of family as he, Lois and the kids enjoyed many trips to the Rocky Mountains, the Black Hills, Kansas City, and Yellowstone to name a few. One of the highlights on the numerous trips would be finding the local catholic church to attend mass on Sunday, giving the family the opportunity to see so many beautiful churches across the country. He and Lois faithfully attended his children and grandchildren’s many school and sporting events. His children recall one of his more famous quotes being, “Why would you ever come to a track meet without a stopwatch!”

Many of Don's proudest accomplishments were not only personal, but also community oriented. A man of deep faith, Don was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola where he was a lector and taught CCD classes for many years. Don had an unwavering commitment to the school system, which is evident in his 25+ years of driving the school bus, serving on the Republican Valley School Board, as well as being a mentor for the Good Friends Program at the local elementary school. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the local American Legion Post #344 of Indianola, Tri-State Livestock Commission and McCook Elks, contributing to the betterment of society. Past roles on the Red Willow County 4-H Council, the local Co-op Board and the Nebraska Stockgrowers Association fostered his positive commitment to his community.&nbsp; In addition to these achievements, Don leaves behind a loving family who meant the world to him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Reiners of Indianola, NE; children, Angela (Bart) Nichols of Gothenburg, NE, John (Jennifer) Reiners of Spearfish, SD, Joseph (Heather) Reiners of New Port Richey, FL and Michelle (Andrew) Hedke of McCook, NE. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh Jones) Smith, JC (Molly) Smith, Allison Nichols, Vincent Nichols, Preston Nichols, Dylan (Carol) Reiners, Ashtyn Reiners, Addi Reiners, Kali Reiners, Ava Reiners and four great-grandsons, Trindon Jones, Charles Reiners, Madden Smith and Koen Smith. &nbsp;Don is also survived by two sisters Carol VanCleave of Aurora, CO and Colette Reiners of Denver, CO, along with numerous other extended family members and lifelong friends.&nbsp;

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dick and sister Connie Reiners; infant brother, William; and granddaughter, Grace Reiners.

Jeremiah VanLinda, 24, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Jeremiah was born on January 21, 2000, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Richard C. and Lisa M. (Sulak) VanLinda.

Jeremiah was a spirited and dynamic individual whose enthusiasm for life was contagious.

After completing his education in Ogallala, Jeremiah carved out a niche for himself as a mechanic, a handyman, and a jack of all trades. His profound love for anything with a motor and wheels was evident to all who knew him, as he always loved riding motorcycles and tinkering with engines. Beyond his mechanical skills, Jeremiah was an outdoorsman, delighting in fishing and searching for turtles and snakes.

Jeremiah had a vibrant spirit and zest for life. He was a cherished friend, known for his unwavering loyalty and the fun he brought to gatherings. He was a reliable source of laughter and fun, making every moment spent together memorable.

Jeremiah leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Lisa VanLinda of North Platte; father, Richard VanLinda of Idaho; siblings, Jon (Sarah) Dinkel of North Platte, Justin (Kimberly-Ann) Dinkel of Big Springs, Josh Dinkel of North Platte, Zack Cornelius of South Bend, IN, and Sarah VanLinda of WY. He was a fun and affectionate uncle to Trevor, Kanoa, Ivana-Dawn, and Luke Dinkel. His best friend, Jordan Fricke of Ogallala, and many other relatives and friends will deeply miss his presence and smile. Jeremiah was preceded in death by his sister, Denae.

Jeremiah VanLinda (2000-2024)

Wesley Leon Holland, 80, of Grant (former longtime Lemoyne resident), passed away on April 8, 2024, at his home.

Wes was born on April 24, 1943, to Wesley Lafayette Holland and Della Maxine Shaffer in Denver, CO. Wesley attended high school in Denver and then entered the US Army shortly after. He later married Maria Trujillo, and together they adopted a son, Steven Holland. Later on, they also adopted their granddaughter, Nichole Ross.

The family made their home in Denver, CO, where Wes worked in telecommunications. In 1974, they relocated to a house they built north of Lake McConaughy.

Wes was a skilled builder and a tinkerer. He was also a father figure, a loving husband, and a valued member of his community. He served as a charter member of the Keystone Lemoyne Fire and Rescue. He served the organization from 1978 to 1990, four of those years as treasurer. He also served on the Ogallala Rural Fire District board for 14 years. Both organizations will miss his valuable experience.

Wes was also a longtime member of the Martin Bay Community Church, where he served on the board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maria Holland; son, Steven Holland; and three siblings. He is survived by his granddaughter, Nichole Ross and her husband Benjamin Ross of Grant; his brother, Larry Holland and his wife Diane Holland of Denver, CO; and many other relatives and friends.

Wesley Holland (1943-2024)

Ronald LeRoy Evans, 70, of rural Lemoyne, passed away on April 12, 2024 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, Nebraska.&nbsp; Ronnie, as he was known in his early years, was born in Denver, Colorado to LeRoy Evan Evans and Carol Alice Schou Evans on August 14, 1953.&nbsp; He and big brother, Roger, grew up on the family homestead north of Elizabeth which was known for the Uncle Sam mailbox at the highway and big red barn and silo which stands to this day.&nbsp; He attended all 12 years of schooling in the small town of Elizabeth Colorado and graduated with 9 other seniors in 1971.&nbsp; He worked at his family’s dairy and beef cattle operation while in high school helping to milk cows before and after school.&nbsp; He drove a country school bus after graduating and worked part-time for the local veterinarian learning many minor surgical procedures and treatments for beef cattle ailments.&nbsp; He also had his own business artificially inseminating and pregnancy-checking cows in several counties both in Elbert County and later in Keith and Garden County, Nebraska.

In 1984, the Evans family felt Denver overtaking their cattle pastures and chose to re-locate their cowherd, looking at several different ranches in Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska before settling on a ranch on the north shore of Lake McConaughy.

Ron was an avid supporter of 4-H and county fairs and served on the Elbert County Fair Board for several years.&nbsp; This volunteerism is where he met and fell in love with the local Extension Agent.&nbsp; How many people can say their first date was to the junk yard after the fairground clean-up day?&nbsp; Ron and Melissa Miller were married in a quiet ceremony at the Julesburg Courthouse on October 18, 1985 and settled in the ranch house north of Lemoyne where Ron had moved the previous year.&nbsp;&nbsp; To this union two children, Lacey Jane and Ridge Lee were born and raised on the family ranch.&nbsp;

Ron was an excellent livestock evaluator and selected A.I. sires to produce champion show steers in their own herd.&nbsp; The ranch competed at the National Western Stock Show and won Grand Champion Stocker Feeders with a set of Hereford show steers in 1989, against all other breeds and great odds.&nbsp;&nbsp; The ranch sold show steers to several distant states and maintain close relationships with those exhibitor’s families to this day. &nbsp;He was most proud of the year one of the ranch’s Hereford steers won the Arizona National Livestock Show.&nbsp; &nbsp;Lacey and Ridge loved to ride with their dad during calving season because the rule was “whomever claims the calf first, gets to show it at the county fair as a Stocker Feeder and the next year as a Market Steer”.&nbsp; For several years it was tough keeping track of the lists for Ridge and Lacey.&nbsp; They were each able to win Grand Champion steer at the Keith County Fair with homegrown steers.

When Lacey and Ridge were old enough for 4-H, he became involved in the Keith County Ag Society and volunteered for the 4-H program.&nbsp; He was honored with the “Friend of 4-H” award in 2008 and served as scale master and breed classifier for the Keith County Fair for several years until this past January. &nbsp;&nbsp;He also served on the National Western Stock Show Feeder Calf Committee with his brother, Roger.&nbsp; The Evans Family was honored with a plaque on the NWSS Hall of Fame in the Livestock Sale Pavilion for their many years of competing at the Stock Show.&nbsp;

Ron loved to hang out at the local sale barn, “monitoring the market”, while visiting with the regular order buyers and sandhill ranchers marketing their calves.&nbsp; Ron was a magnet for small children who were drawn in by his sense of humor and big heart.&nbsp; He loved giving nick names to those around him, and it was common knowledge, “If he didn’t tease you, he didn’t like you.”&nbsp; His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved teaching them to drive in the pastures.

He was preceded in death by his mother Carol Evans and brother Roger Evans.&nbsp;

Ron is survived by his wife, Melissa; one daughter Lacey (Mitch) Williams of Elm Creek, one son Ridge (Taylor) Evans of Lemoyne; father LeRoy (Sue) Evans of Elizabeth, Colorado; one granddaughter Canyon Evans of Lemoyne, four grandsons Karder, Knox and Kowen Williams of Elm Creek and Ryatt Evans of Lemoyne; &nbsp;Mother-in-Law Marilyn Miller of Paoli Colorado; Sisters-in-Law Diane Evans of Castle Rock Colorado and Melinda Groshans of Paoli Colorado,&nbsp; Brothers-in-Law Mitchel (Julie) Miller of Parker Colorado and Michael (Marlene) Miller of Holyoke Colorado, and several very special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.&nbsp;

Ron passed away only eight days after checking calving pastures in his Polaris Ranger due to complications from a very rare, aggressive cancer.&nbsp; He was cared for with compassion and love by the staff at Perkins County Hospital in Grant during those eight days.&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20th,2024&nbsp; at 11:00 a.m. MT, at Figure Four Traditions on the Historic Haythorn Ranch with Pastor Matt Waitley officiating.&nbsp; Cremation was chosen and Ron’s cremains will be scattered into the winds on the family ranch at a later date. &nbsp;

Angel&nbsp;Quinonez died April 12, 2024, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, at age 66.

Angel was born October 1, 1957, to Guadalupe and Irene Quinonez in Mexico. &nbsp;He grew up in Ciudad Juarez then moved to North Platte when he was a teenager. &nbsp;Angel worked at the local packing plant for many years. &nbsp;

On August 26, 2011, Angel married Maria "Carmen" Martinez and they made their home in North Platte. &nbsp;They were together until Carmen died in 2020.

Angel loved his dog, Shadow, and was supportive and always willing to help his family and others when they need it. Family was most important to Angel, he was their hero. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and four siblings.

Survivors include his siblings and their spouses, Mario and Anna Quinonez of North Platte, Jorge and Dorothy Carmona of Sutherland and Daniel and Mary Quinonez, Noe and Carina Carmona and Lorena and Raul Burciaga of Texas; many nieces, nephews and other family.

Family and friends gathered for a final viewing and memorial service in remembrance of Angel at noon on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte.

Loretta Lee Griffith, 81, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, in Broken Bow, Nebraska while surrounded by family. She had been battling complications from parathyroid cancer for many years.

Loretta was born January 18th, 1943, to Wesley “Max” and Velma (Waggoner) Stewart at her grandparents’ home in Comstock, Nebraska. Loretta and her younger sister Meredith grew up on their parents’ farm seven miles west of Sargent, Nebraska. Loretta attended country school through 8th&nbsp;grade and then lived with her grandma Rilla in Sargent while she attended high school. She graduated from Sargent High School in 1961.

After high school she attended Grand Island Business School where she graduated in 1962. She then returned to Sargent where she worked in a doctor’s office until 1964.

Loretta married Walter Earl Griffith in Sargent on July 12th, 1964, and then moved to Broken Bow. Both Loretta and Walter accepted Christ as their personal savior within the first year of their marriage. Loretta worked at the Custer County Social Service office until Ken was born in 1965. &nbsp;Then she quit her job to stay home and raise her family. Walt and Loretta had five children: Ken, Mark, Tom, Stephen, and Tricia. Stephen passed away shortly after he was born.

Walt and Loretta moved their young family from Broken Bow to Berwyn, then to Gates where they farmed and raised cattle. &nbsp;Eventually they moved back to Broken Bow where all the kids graduated from high school.

Over the years Loretta taught Sunday school and helped disciple youth in AWANA at the Berean Church in Broken Bow. She worked in the USDA Farm Service Agency office in Broken Bow for nearly 25 years. She made many friends in the FSA office as well as many area farmers she helped along the way.

Walt and Loretta had been married for 56 years when Walt passed away in 2020.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, mom and dad, son Stephen, father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Loretta is survived by: &nbsp;Children - Kenneth Griffith (Janet) of Broken Bow, Mark Griffith (Sonya) of Kearney, Thomas Griffith (Heather) of Merna, and Tricia Sabin (Jeff) of Ashland; Sister - Meredith Orthman (Bill) of Lexington; Grandchildren – Kathrine Obradovich (C.J.) of Kearney, Cody Griffith (Courtney) of Ansley, Jacob Griffith (Megan) of Kearney, Ethan Griffith (Elizabeth) of Arnold, Jobeth Winkelman (Brian) of Callaway, Elizabeth Griffith of Omaha, Amanda Field (Estin) of Memphis, TN, Nathan Sabin of Lincoln, Victoria Holt (Gage) of Holdrege, Jentry Griffith of Arnold, and Josiah Griffith of Merna. Loretta also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Loretta Griffith (1943-2024)

Longtime former Lexington resident, Irene Ruth (Biltoft) Lahm, 94, was called home Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Bryan East Medical Center. Irene was born Friday, December 13, 1929, in Ruskin, Nebraska to James and Olive (Young) Biltoft.

Irene grew up on a farm helping with chores, kitchen duties and housework. Her favorite memory was riding horses. At the age of three the family home burned down. That event and the depression taught her the value of frugality. She served as the captain of her high school volleyball team and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1947.

On September 20, 1948, Irene married Don Lahm in Cozad where they lived until 1952 when they moved to Lexington. Four children were born to this union: Ruby Irene (Iszler), Rita Ilene (Beck), Dennis Edward and Dona Ruth (Sabby).

Irene was a dedicated mother and homemaker and also worked at JM Donalds department store. &nbsp;After sewing her two daughters’ wedding dresses people learned of her talent as a seamstress. &nbsp;She did alterations for clothing stores in Lexington and made many friends by taking in alterations. Irene treated each job as an urgency getting them in and out quickly. She helped Don with his auctioneer business by cataloging and sprucing up items for the sale. Irene never flustered when Don would call and say I’m bring an implement customer home for lunch. She instilled in her kids the value of hard work, saving and cleanliness. Another talent Irene had was pie making. It was fun to see how many pies she would make for a family gathering and family could always count on strawberry pretzel salad to be part of the meal. If she came to visit, she would surely bring you toilet paper. &nbsp; Everybody uses toilet paper!

Irene and Don celebrated 64 years of marriage. When Don’s health declined, Irene was his faithful, loving caregiver until his death in 2013. Following Don’s death, Irene decided to sell the family home and moved to Legend Oaks. &nbsp;She enjoyed playing cards at the Lexington Grand Generation Center, participating in numerous clubs, doing jigsaw puzzles and word finds, and watching game shows. She kept her mind sharp throughout it all.

In October 2023, Irene moved to Nebraska City to live in Rita and David’s carriage house. They were wonderful, dedicated caregivers getting her to appointments, sharing meals and tending to household chores. &nbsp;She loved their beautiful gardens and would pull weeds while sitting on her walker whenever she could. She was looking forward to Spring and Summer and being outside.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Don, two brothers, three sisters, son, Dennis, daughter, Ruby, grandchildren Melissa Major and John Beck and great granddaughter Maddie Everitt.

Irene is survived by daughters, Rita (David) Beck and Dona (Larry) Sabby, grandchildren Shelly (Dustin) Everitt, Kevin (Kammi) Beck, Kirk (Robin) Major, Jessica (Mark) Lamphear, Sarah (Ryan) Major and eight greatgrandchildren.

In memory of Irene, please send someone you appreciate a handwritten thank you note. It may sound old fashioned, but gratitude never goes out of style. Irene was a classy lady with that kind of style.

Graveside inurnment will be Monday, April 22, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. &nbsp;A presentation of flowers at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds Love Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor David Irwin.&nbsp;

Irene Ruth Lahm (1929-2024)

Jessie C. McCormick, a longtime North Platte resident who dedicated her life to her family, friends and community in Lincoln County, died on April 11, 2024. She was 90.

Jessie was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Loup City, Nebraska, to A. R. Rex and Helen (Fisher) Hoppie. She moved with her family to North Platte in 1945 and graduated from North Platte High School in 1951.

She went to work at the North Platte Municipal Light &amp; Water Department, where she met her future husband, William H. "Bill" McCormick. The two married on May 29, 1954, in North Platte, where they raised two daughters, Patricia and Carol.

Jessie also was known for being a dedicated caregiver: She took care of her mother, Helen, who lived with the family for 11 years. She balanced this, for several years, with caregiving for her mother-in-law, Margaret, and raising her daughters.

Jessie also was an accomplished businesswoman. She worked as a bookkeeper-secretary at First United Methodist Church for 18 years. In 1978, she and Bill established Lazy K Angus by purchasing half interest in 42 registered Angus cows. For 30 years, they raised purebred seedstock cattle, which they sold throughout the area and Nebraska, growing their herd to as large as 130. Jessie kept the business's books and enjoyed working alongside Bill in all their endeavors.

Jessie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and a former member of Area 8 Nebraska Cattlewomen. She was very generous with her time volunteering at her church, the Bargain Bin and at the Golden Spike Tower, among other places.

Jessie's family will remember her most for being loving, caring, warm and supportive. They will also remember her quick-witted vocabulary and sarcasm, honed over thousands of crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her brother Rex Hoppie and his wife Norma of Parkersburg, West Virginia; brother-in-law Bob McCormick (Sandy) of Thomasville, North Carolina; and her brother-in-law Francis McCormick of North Platte.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years; her two daughters, Pat Mittan of Salome, Arizona, and Carol McCormick (June Focken) of Glenwood, Iowa; her grandson, Kyle Mittan of Tucson, Arizona; her sister, Beth Ann Fairfield, of Glenwood; and her sister-in-law, Sister Rosella McCormick of Louisville, Kentucky.

Memorials suggested to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment.

Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 415 N. Chestnut St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10. Michael David Hartsough, 46, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Born on October 16, 1977, in Denver, Colorado, to Rex J. and Mary Ann (King) Hartsough, Michael grew up in the Denver area, embracing Colorado's natural beauty, a passion that defined his life.

In 2008, Michael made Ogallala his home, where he continued to nurture his deep connection with the outdoors. Whether he was mowing lawns, assisting an electrician, or immersing himself in landscaping projects, Michael found joy in spending every minute he could outdoors. His love for nature was paralleled by his fondness for animals. Michael's gentle spirit made him an animal magnet. He was also a person who respected and cared deeply for people from all walks of life, often extending kindness and humor in unexpected ways.

Michael's garden was his sanctuary, where he could spend entire days nurturing the plants and observing the different bugs and animals, typically capturing the beauty through the camera lens. Michael was also an avid fisherman in earlier years.

Michael's legacy of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering love for the natural world leaves an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Michael is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents. Survivors include his parents, Rex (Mary Ann) Hartsough; sisters, Michelle Hartsough of Littleton, CO, and Kristina Kleewein of Roxborough, CO; niece, Caden Kleewein; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Kelly Ray Hoffman, 65 of Aurora CO, passed away January 14 at his home.

 Kelly was born August 5, 1958 in Grant, NE to Orval Hoffman and Catherine(Mildred) Cullinan.  Kelly grew up in North Platte and spent most of his adult years in Colorado. Kelly had great accomplishments when it came to riding and racing motorcycles in his earlier years.  Kelly was known around North Platte as the guy who could fix those old VW Bugs.  But he could just about fix any thing.

Kelly married Judy Saighman and a son was born Kelly Ray II, they later divorced. Kelly is proceeded in death by his parents and brother in law, Tom Hoover. Kelly leaves behind his sons Kelly Ray of Windsor, CO and Justin Kelly of North Platte; his grandchildren Jaden, Jeremiah, Boston, Silas and Remi; Siblings Terry (Jim) Witt, Cindy (Jackie Nolan) Hoffman of North Platte, and Joel Hoffman of Seattle, WA;&nbsp; &nbsp;Nieces Tanya (Michael) Hollis, Randee Hoffman; Nephews Sean (Deb) Hoover and Adam Hoover.

Berenice was born in Dundy County, Nebraska on January 11,&nbsp;1931,&nbsp;to William and Nora Reiman. Berenice married DeWayne “Shad” Caress in May of 1952.&nbsp;Berenice and Shad&nbsp;had three&nbsp;children:&nbsp;Robert, Roxi and Robin.&nbsp;The Family&nbsp;resided&nbsp;for many years in Benkelman, NE before moving to Leadville, CO where Berenice accepted a job with Lake County School District as an&nbsp;Elementary&nbsp;School&nbsp;Teacher. The couple returned to Stratton, NE during their retirement years due to Shad’s health.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Berenice took pride in her educational accomplishments having earned her&nbsp;Bachelor’s in Education&nbsp;from Kearney State College and her&nbsp;Master’s in Education&nbsp;from Adams State College.&nbsp;She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for many years.&nbsp;Berenice was a devout Catholic who dedicated her free time to&nbsp;The Third Order of&nbsp;Franciscans&nbsp;and The&nbsp;Altar and Rosary Society. Berenice could always be found with a book in her&nbsp;hand,&nbsp;and&nbsp;spent many enjoyable hours at the library.&nbsp;She had a love for animals,&nbsp;and especially enjoyed the companionship of her dog Skeeter.&nbsp;Spending time with her family was one of her greatest passions and enjoyments.&nbsp;Her love for people was&nbsp;evident&nbsp;in the way she would always offer her support and prayers for any in need. Berenice was thoughtful,&nbsp;generous,&nbsp;and kind to&nbsp;anyone who&nbsp;had the pleasure of&nbsp;crossing paths with her.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Berenice is survived by two of her children, Robert “Bob” Caress (Gloria) and Roxi Garrett (Mike), seven grandchildren,&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;great-grandchildren,&nbsp;nieces,&nbsp;and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

(Central Time) Immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. (Central Time)&nbsp;with Fr. Matt Eickhoff officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Inurnment&nbsp;will&nbsp;follow at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Benkelman Cemetery,&nbsp;Benkelman, NE at 2:00 PM&nbsp;(Central Time).&nbsp;&nbsp;Online condolences may be left for the family at&nbsp; &nbsp;<a href="http://www.liewerfuneralhome.com/" target="_blank">www.liewerfuneralhome.com</a>&nbsp;Benkelman Memorial Chapel&nbsp;entrusted with arrangements. &nbsp;&nbsp;
