&nbsp; Tanner Christian Aston, 28 of North Platte, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2023, while vacationing in California. Tanner was born March 2, 1995, in Phoenix, AZ, to Boyd &amp; Shae.&nbsp; He began his adventurous lifestyle very early on, learning to ride a bike at 2, a motorcycle at 3 and started racing at 7 years old. He was an excellent baseball player and could usually be found on a skateboard, mountain bike, BMX bike, or with a racquet or golf club in his hand. Tanner affectionately earned the nickname Blue Gradient because of the helmet he wore at competitions. At the age of 13, Tanner became a big brother to Piper Caldwell and they soon discovered a love of all things Toy Story. 7 months later, he earned the title again to Thomas Aston. His faithful companion was his black pug, Isabel. After Tanner graduated from North Platte High School in 2013, he hit a 5-year roadblock in the vicious cycle of addiction, yet overcame it to become a drug and alcohol counselor. His most recent passion was being a drone pilot. He would build drones of all sizes, for any project and fly any chance he got. Tanner passed away just 4 days after a drone competition in Oregon proclaiming it was the best time he's ever had. He owned Blue Gradient FPV, a successful drone company, creating videos, commercials and more. His smile would light up any room and his laughter would fill that room. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Eunice M. Shepherd, age 92, resident of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at her niece's home in Gothenburg, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Eunice was born on May 17, 1931 in Oconto, Nebraska the daughter of Gerald Earl Horn and Velma Hazel (Garrnger) Horn. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She attended school in Lexington, Nebraska and graduated from Lexington High School.&nbsp; On June 12, 1950, she married Ivan Shepherd in Lexington, Nebraska and together they had two children.&nbsp; Eunice worked as a bookkeeper at her husband, Ike's, Standard Service Station in Arnold, Nebraska, and various other jobs in the Arnold area.&nbsp; They lived and raised their family in the Arnold, Nebraska area for many years.&nbsp; Following retirement, she and Ike moved to North Platte, Nebraska and worked together as camp hosts at several National Parks.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, D.A.V. Auxiliary, and the Handy Anns Extension Club.&nbsp; She was an active volunteer with the MOPS program, Golden Spike Tower, North Platte Senior Center, and the RSVP group.&nbsp; Eunice volunteered over 16 years and 5 months with lifetime hours of 7,878.&nbsp; She volunteered as recently as April of 2023, only taking off from volunteering when she was having health issues.&nbsp; Eunice loved meeting new people through her volunteer work.&nbsp; She enjoyed latch hook, gardening, yardwork, listening to all kinds of music, walking, traveling, and was an avid reader.&nbsp; Eunice will be missed by all who knew and loved her. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Gregory Ivan Shepherd of Minden, Nebraska; grandchildren, Victoria Shepherd, Robin Shepherd, and Samantha (Jason) Hopkinson; great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; sister, Wanda Howell of Cozad, Nebraska; brother, Gary (Kathy) Horn of Elwood, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stombaugh and Karen Horn, both of Kearney, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; her husband, Ivan; a daughter, Sally Perry; and by brothers, Glenn, Dwight, Clifton, and Ronald Horn; sisters, Beverly Stark and Phyllis Shepherd; brothers-in-law, Vernon Shepherd, Eldred Shepherd, and Ronald Howell; sisters-in-law, Mable Hicks and Velma Garringer and their spouses. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A memorial service and celebration of live will be held at 12:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte, Nebraska with Rev. Eunice M. Shepherd  (1931-2023)

Anita Louise Brown was born on August 20, 1936 in Dupree, South Dakota to Charles Leach and Ula Marjorie Brummet, and passed away on July 28, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 86 years old.

Anita grew up in Dupree, South Dakota and graduated from Dupree in 1954.&nbsp; She had 3 siblings: Valera, Earl, and Chuck.&nbsp; She moved to Arnold, Nebraska and met Loren Brown in 1958, and married him in August of 1959.&nbsp; Together they had 5 children and raised them in Stapleton, North Platte, Sutherland, and Tryon in Nebraska.&nbsp; They settled in Arnold, Nebraska in 1990.&nbsp; She worked in the health care field as a CNA and later in childcare.

Anita loved camping, fishing, and boating and she cherished her grandchildren and spending summer with them.

Anita was loved by many and was kind and caring to everyone she met.&nbsp; She loved to cook, and Christmas was very important to her as she always wanted her family together.&nbsp; She took great joy in hosting family reunions in Arnold, NE.&nbsp; She loved to garden and had a beautiful yard and flowers.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marjorie Leach; in-laws, Alma and Gladys Brown; son, Mark Brown; grandson, Tucker Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Valera and Clyde Pickett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Charlotte Nansel; and brother-in-law, Jim Brown.

Anita is survived by her beloved husband, Loren, of North Platte, Nebraska; son Rod (Twila) of Paxton, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Tina Warner of Carthage, Texas; son, Todd (Kathy) Brown of North Platte, Nebraska; son Derwyn (Carolyn) Brown of North Platte, Nebraska; daughter, Heidi (Bart) Sinner of Springtown, Texas; brothers Earl (Pat) Leach of Carter Lake, Iowa and Chuck (Dianna) Leach of Grand Island, Nebraska; as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Memorial Services will be on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. CST at the First Baptist Church in Arnold, NE with Pastor Irv Jennings officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Arnold Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mark Wells age 56 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from injuries sustained in an accident.

Funeral Services will be Monday, September 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating. On November 1st, 1966, Mark Francis Wells was born to Reid Wells and Shirley (Keefe) Gottula. &nbsp;Mark grew up in the Gates area and attended the Gates community grade school through the 8th grade. &nbsp;He graduated from Anselmo-Merna high school in 1985 and went on to Southeast Community college in Lincoln to earn a welding degree in 1990. &nbsp;

In 1993, Mark married his high school sweetheart Kristine Leibhart. &nbsp;They lived in Lincoln for their first year of marriage before moving to Grand Island and then to Doniphan in 1995 after purchasing their first home. &nbsp;In 1997 they welcomed their first daughter, Sydney Marie and their second daughter, Ellie Rose, in 2000. &nbsp;In 2001 they decided it was time to move home to be closer to their families. They made their home west of Broken Bow and completed their family with the birth of another daughter, Haley Jo, in 2003.&nbsp;

Mark’s circle of friends was large as he never had a job where he didn’t make lasting friendships. &nbsp;From his earlier years at V-Bar Trailer Sales, Duncan Aviation, Burlington Northern, Sargent Pipe to Custer County Highway Department, City of Broken Bow and lastly Nebraska State Department of Roads. &nbsp;If you were lucky enough to be in this circle, there were many hunting and fish stories shared. &nbsp;In these last years, his deer hunting days were shared helping Ellie and Haley find the big deer. &nbsp;His girls all have a love of the outdoors because of their dad. Taking three girls fishing was challenging but Mark wouldn’t have had it any other way. Baiting their hooks and fixing their snagged lines with patience and gritted teeth. His giggle was contagious, and his signature drink of Old Milwaukee Light was well known. &nbsp;Many say he knew he wouldn’t have to share his drink with others with his unique choice. &nbsp;His phone calls to let you know “there is a storm coming your way” and his crazy practical jokes will be missed for sure. His mind was always thinking of ideas to play a joke on a neighbor, co-worker, or unsuspecting buddy. Mark was always down for a good time. His greatest loves were his family and his wonderful caring mother known to all as Nana.

Mark was proceeded in death by his father Reid, stepfather Stan Gottula, father-in-law Keith Leibhart, niece Jade Wells, great nephew Kellen Charron, along with his grandparents, Francis and Audrey Keefe and Frank and Gretchen Wells. &nbsp;

Mark leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Kristy and their three daughters Sydney and Haley both of Lincoln, Ellie (Keenan Stupka) of Broken Bow and their faithful (who some might believe to be his favorite girl) miniature schnauzer Roxie. &nbsp;Also, brothers Mike (Tammy) Wells of Anselmo and Mitch (Kari) Wells of Axtell along with sister Melinda Kennel of Norfolk. Mother Shirley Gottula, Mother-in-Law Jeanne Leibhart, brothers-in-law Larry (Cathy) Leibhart of Anselmo, Randy (Kim) Leibhart of Merna; and sister-in-law Kathy (Jim) Eberle of Broken Bow and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was born on February 2, 1935 in Montgomery City, Missouri to Melvin and Selma (May) Brown.&nbsp; Marilyn lived in Missouri until 1949, when her family moved to Lexington, Nebraska.&nbsp; Marilyn graduated from Lexington High School with the Class of 1953.

While in High School, Marilyn met the love of her life, Jim, during a High School Church Fellowship.&nbsp; Marilyn was united in marriage to James "Jim" Biehl on February 14, 1954 in Lexington, NE at the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; Two children were blessed to the union:&nbsp; Roger James and Janice Kay.&nbsp; The family made their home in the Lexington, NE area where Marilyn focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising her children.

Marilyn was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington and a 70 year member, where she was active in many church organizations.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Grant Extension Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and past member of the Nebraska Cattlewomen.

Marilyn and Jim enjoyed traveling together, and she thoroughly loved following her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and in her later years, when the great-grandchildren came along, they were the highlight of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She also enjoyed quilting, square dancing, and traveling to different wineries in Nebraska and Missouri with friends.&nbsp; Marilyn decided to take charge of her health and began the Weight Watchers program where she lost over 100 pounds.&nbsp; This was a great accomplishment in her life.&nbsp; Above all, Marilyn has left a tremendous legacy of love and faith to her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Lexington, NE; her daughter, Janice (Lynn) Lans of Lexington, NE; eight grandchildren: justin (Da'Lacy) Lans, Jillian (Justin) Dowdy, Jacey (Austen) Klemm, Brandy (Cody) Popken, Amanda Christensen, Aleah Biehl, Isaac Biehl, and Rachel (Connor) Lemke; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jacob, Joslynn, James &amp; Jorgianna Lans, Jackson &amp; Jamie Dowdy, Bodee &amp; Shaya Klemm, Kamryn Pike, Kinley Popken, and Giana &amp; Malik Christensen; her brother, Leroy (Lettie) Brown of Roseburg, Oregon; and sister-in-law, Patricia (Donald) McAnallen of Lakeview, Oregon; brother-in-law, Buss (Carolyn) Biehl of Kearney, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Roger Biehl; grandson, Jason Lans; brother, Richard Brown; sisters-in-law Casey Biehl and Bernice (Phil) Pebley; and in-laws, Wesley &amp; Else Biehl.

A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Chuck Olsen officiating.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE.

Marilyn May Biehl  (1935-2023)

Gerald "Jerry" Witte, age 99, of Cambridge, Nebraska passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on August 30, 2023.&nbsp; He was born in Lawrence, Nebraska on November 9, 1923 to Clement and Elisabeth (Ostdiek).&nbsp; The family moved to Cambridge, Nebraska when Jerry was seven years old.

Jerry was united in marriage to Jean Ohlson on August 31, 1949.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on August 8, 2021.&nbsp; Jerry was a life member of the St. John the Baptist Church, a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pro-Life Representative, and Marriage Encounter.&nbsp; He served his community over his life span on schoolboard, Cambridge Co-Op Board, NE Cattleman's Association, and ECO Fallow Board.&nbsp; As a teenager, Jerry's family would to to Indianola, Nebraska and get prisoners of war to help on the farm.&nbsp; Jerry and Jean loved to travel, taking many Jerry Petersen bus trips, along with trips all over the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; daughter, Janet Davis; grandchildren, Bryan Miller, Shelly Ann Witte, Abby Witte, and Ryan Witte; siblings and their spouses, Elvin (Charlotte) Witte, Gilbert (Ruth) Witte, Herb (Lucille) Witte, Wilber (Viola), Arthur (Agnes) Witte, Edwin Witte, Irene (Francis) Kubik, Vera (Bob) Laughlin, and Pat (Gene) Young.

Jerry is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Duane) Phillips, Brenda (Mark) Miller, and Sharon (Kelly) Evans, all of Cambridge, NE; three sons, Steven (Connie) Witte of Cambridge, NE, Roger (Nan) Witte of Cambridge, NE, and Mark (Deb) of Castle Rock, CO; son-in-law Larry Davis; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Karen Ann (Pincheon) Sizer, age 80, of Arthur, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Nebraska.

Karen was born December 9, 1942, at Ft. Edward, N.Y. to Frank A. and Doris L. (Ingram) Pincheon. She spent her childhood in Hudson Falls, N.Y. In 1955 the family moved to Ogallala, Nebraska where Karen started junior high. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1961 and then attended Kearney State College for one year where she met her future husband.

Karen married David Sizer on August 22, 1964, in Ogallala, Nebraska. They resided in Kearney, Nebraska for a year. The couple moved to Hershey, Nebraska in 1965, then to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1966 where their first two children were born. In 1969 they moved to Tyndall, S.D. where their youngest son was born. Karen and David moved to Arthur, Nebraska in 1972.

Karen loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and Sunday and holiday dinners. She was an excellent baker and known for her pies. She also decorated many cakes for family special occasions. Karen also enjoyed sewing, and making clothes and costumes for her family and friends. She sewed doll clothes, comforters, and other items to give as gifts. Karen enjoyed crafts, knitting, gardening, canning, bookkeeping and reading.

Karen worked for the Arthur County Co-op Association, and later, the Bank of Keystone, for many years. She owned and operated a ceramic shop in Arthur for a few years. She also served as clerk for the Village of Arthur. In 1988 she started working for The Arthur Enterprise, eventually becoming the owner and publisher.

Karen was an active member of the Arthur Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, served as Sunday school superintendent, helped with Awana and youth group, sang in the choir for cantatas and specials, and helped wherever she could. Karen was a member and officer of the Arthur Project Club, helped with 4-H, was a Cub Scout leader, served on the Arthur County School Reunion committee, helped with the Arthur County Diamond Jubilee history book, and was a member of the Pack Backers Booster Club, receiving the Pack Backer of the Year award twice.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dean Wilson; and brothers-in-law Wilbert Sizer, Harold Sizer, and Jim Sizer.

Karen is survived by her husband, David of Arthur, NE; daughter Michelle and husband Bill Simpson of Arthur, NE; sons Steven and wife Patty Sizer of Bellevue, NE, and Timothy and wife Kim of Arthur, NE; grandchildren Asa, Aiden, Drew, Amos, and Aly Sizer, and Nathaniel and Kaela Sizer; brother Ron and wife Linda Pincheon of Gladwin, Michigan; sister Linda and husband Dan Crouse of Hyannis, NE; sisters-in-law Virginia Sizer of Ogallala, NE, Susan and husband Doug Wilson of Arthur, NE, Kathy and husband Henry Vedder of Ogallala, NE, Marjorie and husband Dale Leistritz of North Platte, NE, brother-in-law John and wife Linda Sizer of Lemoyne, NE; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Karen Ann (Pincheon) Sizer  (1942-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David Vapenik, age 45, of rural Grant, Nebraska passed away on August 29, 2023 at his home. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David was bon on May 7, 1978 in Grant, Nebraska to Daniel and Patricia (Heine) Vapenik.&nbsp; He graduated from Wheatland High School with the Class of 1996 and earned a Business Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2000. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Following graduation, David worked at Target in Lincoln, Nebraska, operating in Human Resources &amp; Management.&nbsp; In 2004, he returned to Grant, where he worked at Valley Bank, Adams Bank in Madrid, and later as financial officer at Farm Credit. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On June 1, 2013, David married Angela Hengelfelt in Golden, Colorado.&nbsp; Their union was blessed with two sons, Axel and Cruz. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave was also a lifelong Yankees fan.&nbsp; His love of baseball was ingrained in him since birth and was a major part of his upbringing.&nbsp; David also loved hunting and outdoors, especially when he was pheasant hunting with his dogs.&nbsp; He was highly active in the community and had a diversity of friends.&nbsp; Dave wasn't one to sugarcoat things, so people always knew where they stood.&nbsp; He had a great love for working on the family farm and absolutely cherished the time he got to spend there with his boys alongside him. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David was preceded in death by his father, Dan, in 2014. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Angela, and their sons, Axel and Cruz of rural Grant, NE; mother, Pat Vapenik of Elsie, NE; brother, Zane Vapenik of Oshkosh, NE; in-laws, Corwin (Nancy) Hengelfeld of Stromsburg, NE; siblings-in-law, Seth and Mandy Hengelfelt and their children Wyatt and Sydney, Leah and Jason Lonsdale and their children Devin, Emmitt, and Maya, Nathan and Kaysha Hengelfelt and their children Tinsley and Kaisyn; along with many other relatives and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in David's memory to benefit his children.&nbsp; Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.&nbsp; Services will be streamed live at ziongrant.org. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Services will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. MDT at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Heckmann officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Elsie Cemetery.&nbsp; A reception and celebration of life will be held at the Perkins County Fairgrounds directly after the committal at the cemetery. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Visitation will be on Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. MDT at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant, Nebraska.&nbsp; The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. MST. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.

 </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David Vapenik, age 45, of rural Grant, Nebraska passed away on August 29, 2023 at his home. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David was bon on May 7, 1978 in Grant, Nebraska to Daniel and Patricia (Heine) Vapenik.&nbsp; He graduated from Wheatland High School with the Class of 1996 and earned a Business Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2000. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Following graduation, David worked at Target in Lincoln, Nebraska, operating in Human Resources &amp; Management.&nbsp; In 2004, he returned to Grant, where he worked at Valley Bank, Adams Bank in Madrid, and later as financial officer at Farm Credit. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On June 1, 2013, David married Angela Hengelfelt in Golden, Colorado.&nbsp; Their union was blessed with two sons, Axel and Cruz. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave was also a lifelong Yankees fan.&nbsp; His love of baseball was ingrained in him since birth and was a major part of his upbringing.&nbsp; David also loved hunting and outdoors, especially when he was pheasant hunting with his dogs.&nbsp; He was highly active in the community and had a diversity of friends.&nbsp; Dave wasn't one to sugarcoat things, so people always knew where they stood.&nbsp; He had a great love for working on the family farm and absolutely cherished the time he got to spend there with his boys alongside him. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David was preceded in death by his father, Dan, in 2014. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Angela, and their sons, Axel and Cruz of rural Grant, NE; mother, Pat Vapenik of Elsie, NE; brother, Zane Vapenik of Oshkosh, NE; in-laws, Corwin (Nancy) Hengelfeld of Stromsburg, NE; siblings-in-law, Seth and Mandy Hengelfelt and their children Wyatt and Sydney, Leah and Jason Lonsdale and their children Devin, Emmitt, and Maya, Nathan and Kaysha Hengelfelt and their children Tinsley and Kaisyn; along with many other relatives and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in David's memory to benefit his children.&nbsp; Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.&nbsp; Services will be streamed live at ziongrant.org. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Services will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. MDT at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Heckmann officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Elsie Cemetery.&nbsp; A reception and celebration of life will be held at the Perkins County Fairgrounds directly after the committal at the cemetery. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Visitation will be on Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. MDT at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant, Nebraska.&nbsp; The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. MST. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine “Cathy” Mae Staroska (Howe), resident of North Platte, NE, passed away on August 29, 2023, 72 years old. Cathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; who was a cherished community member, and wonderful friend.

Cathy was born to Edwin and Ruth Howe (Fitzner) on July 18,1951 in Hot Springs, SD. She grew up in Custer, SD where she graduated from Custer High School in 1969. After graduation, she entered the Dietitian program at Union College in Lincoln Nebraska. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 1982 and Associates Degree in Nursing in 1995.

Cathy married Donald “Don” E. Staroska on 22 September 1982 in North Platte, NE uniting their families. Cathy had many interests in her life. She loved the Lord and actively participated in the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was the lead Deaconess. She was musically talented playing the accordion, piano, organ and violin. She spent her life fiercely devoted to the care and quality of Senior Citizens starting in Linden Court and ending her Career at the North Platte Agency on Aging. Cathy volunteered with many organizations of which her greatest affection was English Setters, fostering dogs from Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Don Staroska; Siblings: Vickie Kaufman, Chuck Howe, Laurie Howe and Jenny Tullier, Children: LTC Amy Kylar, spouse Jefferson, Rhonda Smith N.P, Stepchildren Lee Staroska, Spouse Angie, Diana Stoner, spouse Larry Sr., Joe Staroska, spouse Wendy. Grandchildren: Jamie Sinclare, Benjamin Kylar, Step-grandchildren: Zach Kylar, Sydney Kylar, Brandy and Rebecca Smith, Larry Jr. Stoner, Kaylynn Stoner, Greg Stoner (Brianna), Brittany Hinkle, Holly (Josh) Motsch, Jenna (Christian) Blundell, Jacob Staroska and step-great grandchild Jackson, Lillian, Everett Hinkle, Stanley Motsch, Hunter and Emmett Blundell.

Dorothy Joan Woodside, age 90, of Kearney, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 12 1933 in Duluth, Minnesota to Charles and Marguerite (Lains) Olds.&nbsp; She graduated from Duluth Central High School with the Class of 1951.&nbsp; She then moved on the Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota where she received her bachelor's degree in Christian Education and Psychology.&nbsp; In 1955, Dorothy moved to Lexington, Nebraska where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Woodside.&nbsp; The two were united in marriage on October 12, 1958 in Lexington, Nebraska.

Dorothy was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; It was here that she found solace and purpose.&nbsp; She also served as the Director of Christian Education for four years.&nbsp; &nbsp; In this role, she displayed unwavering dedication to nurturing the spiritual growth of the congregation she cared so deeply about.

Throughout the&nbsp; years, she also served as an elder and member of the Pastoral Nominating Committee, taught Sunday School and various Bible Studies, offering her time and talents selflessly.

She was an active member of the Lexington Women's Association and Martha Circle.&nbsp; Dorothy was also a proud member of PEO, a collective striving to provide educational opportunities for women.&nbsp; Her involvement in this organization showcased her commitment to empowering other and making a positive difference in society.

Dorothy dedicated 20 years of service to the travel industry where she employed her expertise to create memorable experiences for countless individuals.&nbsp; Following this fulfilling chapter of her life, Dorothy transitioned into working in a tax office for four years.&nbsp; Her eye for detail and problem-solving skills were invaluable during this time.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles (Linda) Woodside of Kearney, Nebraska, David (Michelle) Woodside of The Woodlands, Texas, Linda Barton of Kearney, Nebraska, and Barbara Hedrick of The Woodlands, Texas; brother-in-law, Karl Anuta of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Jerrod (Kayla) Barton, Justin (Melissa) Barton, Kathryn (Aaron) Peterson, Alexander (Emily) Woodside, Owen Woodside, and Harry Woodside; as well as 4 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Woodside; a sister, Barbara Anuta; and son-in-law, J. Larry Hedrick.

(Counce) Beezley.&nbsp; She died on August 28, 2023 after a brief illness. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Joan grew up in La Mesa, California, graduating from Helix High in 1964.&nbsp; In 1965, she graduated from James Hall College of Beauty and married Wayne W. Herald.&nbsp; They had two sons, Nicholas in 1974 and John in 1975.&nbsp; Joan and the boys moved to Hayes Center, Nebraska in November 1979.&nbsp; In 1981, she married Lawrence W. Lauenroth.&nbsp; They had a daughter, Jill, in 1982. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Joan served as the Hayes County Clerk for many years.&nbsp; She also served on several committees, including the Hayes Center Cemetery, Senior Center and Library. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She is preceded in death by parents, Robert C. and Lillian E. Beezley; husband, Lawrence W. Lauenroth;&nbsp; son, Nicholas B. Herald; and brother-in-law, George H. Miller. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Joan is survived by son,&nbsp; John R. Bonnie Jo (Keck) Tilford, age 76, joined her Heavenly Lord on August 25, 2023; as Heaven has gained a beautiful Angel. Bonnie was born Nov 16, 1946 in Columbus, NE to Wm C. Keck Sr and Shirley Blair Keck. The family moved to Grand Island, NE in 1959.

Bonnie could hunt a deer like no other. She was excellent at crocheting and knitting as she made all her nieces and nephews hats and gloves. Bonnie was also a Ham/CB Radio enthusiast.

Upon moving to North Platte, Bonnie ran the Stanford Inn Motel, she ran her own upholstery shop, where her work was beautiful and detailed.&nbsp; She also worked for the Unites States Post Office, was the deli manager at U-Save on Francis Street and after retiring, she became a CNA caring for the elderly in their homes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wm C. Keck Sr and Shirley A. Keck; two children, Tier and Billy; brothers, Edward T. Keck, Bill Keck Jr (Butch); great nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and ex-husband, Jim Tilford.

Those left to cherish and celebrate her memory are her beloved dog, Little Girl; son Jeremy and daughter Kate (Chris); grandson Zemory; brothers and sisters: Allan Keck of Grand Island, NE, Steve Keck (Cindy), Kathy Keck Buck, Kevin Keck (Alice), Kenny Keck (Teresa), Dorothy Keck Savory (Hubert), all of North Platte, NE, Richard Keck of Kearney, NE; Uncle Bon Blair of Grand Island, NE; Aunts Joy Robertson of Grand Island, NE and Patty Knutson of Omaha, NE; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.&nbsp;

He was a beloved husband, father, and grandpa to his three grandsons who meant the world to him. &nbsp; He was born May 6, 1957, in McCook, NE to Darrel and Lucile (Harris) Banzhaf. &nbsp;He grew up in Cambridge, NE, with three sisters and graduated from Maywood High School in 1975. &nbsp;He met the love of his life, Dorris (Eubanks) Banzhaf, they were married February 20, 1976, and celebrated 47 years of marriage. &nbsp;To this union, two children were born: Dustin Wade and Lacey Renee. &nbsp;They raised their family in Indianola, NE and moved to McCook, NE in 2001. &nbsp;To not miss out on watching their grandsons grow, they moved to Lincoln, NE in 2017. &nbsp;He spent time farming with his grandpa and in 1976 was employed at Electric Hose and Rubber/Parker-Hannifan until he retired in 2014. &nbsp;Russ always thought his life was blessed with many roads traveled, a loving family, a warm home, and cherished friendships.&nbsp; Russ had a passion for everything outdoors. &nbsp;He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed camping and kayaking, and loved instilling those skills upon others. &nbsp;He helped create the Republican Valley Bowhunter’s Archery Club. &nbsp;He was an instructor for Hunter Safety where he taught youth the safety of the sport. &nbsp;He completed a master naturalist course so that he could volunteer at Nebraska Game and Parks events, allowing him to share his love of these skills. &nbsp;He spent many years donating blood/platelets to the Red Cross earning many awards for his contributions to help others. &nbsp;He was passionate about his Huskers and Denver Broncos, and he took joy in watching his grandson’s baseball games and band activities.&nbsp;

Preceding him in death is his sister, Linda Banzhaf; grandparents, Paul (Velma) Banzhaf, Claude (Lottie) Harris; in-laws, Bob (Shirley) Eubanks. &nbsp;Russ is survived by his wife, Dorris; son, Dustin; daughter, Lacey (Levi)Davis; and three amazing grandsons, Hunter, Brycen, and Wyatt; parents, Darrel and Lucile Banzhaf; sisters, Kathy Banzhaf, Gloria (Brad) Masoner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in- laws. He is also survived by the second love of his life and dog, Ivy. &nbsp;Russ knows that he is loved, had been loved, and will be deeply missed. &nbsp;&nbsp;

As Russ chose cremation, a memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, September 8, 2023, at McCook Christian Church, 507 West B St, McCook, NE 69001, officiated by Pastor Clark Bates. &nbsp; Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. Russell D. Banzhaf (1957-2023)

Estella Fay Ann (Ridpath) Shedd passed away at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 89.&nbsp; She was born in Cambridge on March 30, 1934, to Leon and Berniece (Higgins) Ridpath.&nbsp; Fay Ann attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952.&nbsp;&nbsp;She moved to Colorado where she attended and graduated from the Colorado Women’s College with a degree in Library Science.

Fay Ann was wed to John Robert Davis in September of 1955. To this union four children were born: Diana, Rhonda, Robert Scott, and Larry.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family moved to Cambridge where Fay Ann was employed by Rodney Phillips at the bank, Merl’s Café, and Cambridge Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

In 1984, she met Gary Shedd near Edgewater, CO while working at a Nursing Home in Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;The couple moved to Indianola, NE while Fay Ann was employed at Hillcrest Nursing Home, McCook, NE. The couple was wed in August of 1994. Gary preceded her in 1998.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Fay Ann moved to Kenesaw, NE to be near family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She worked at the Nursing Home in Kenesaw, before retiring and moving back to Cambridge.

Fay Ann enjoyed going to meals at the Cambridge Senor Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even when her health deteriorated, she made the trek from her apartment at Parkside Manor to eat and socialize.

Fay Ann was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Robert Scott Davis; infant daughter, Diana Davis; brothers, Jim Ridpath, William (Marge) Ridpath.

Fay Ann is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Carl)&nbsp;Hellner&nbsp;of Kenesaw, NE; son, Larry (Lajuana) Davis of McCook, NE; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Helen “Gaylene” Grint, age 87, of Sargent, NE passed away August 25, 2023, at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow.

Helen Gaylene Martin Grint was born August 3, 1936, in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was the third child born to Fred Cleland Martin and Verna Vere Walker Martin. She completed elementary school at Table Rock City Schools. Later she moved in with her older sister Leila to Omaha and completed High School at Omaha Public Schools in 1954.

She married her Husband of 67 years Dale Eugene Grint on February 19, 1955, in Lincoln, Nebraska. At that time, she was employed at the Elgin Watch factory and Dale at a service station. To this union two children were born: Jerald Eugene and Debra Jo. They made their home in Havelock in Lincoln until 1967 when they moved the family to Dale's hometown of Sargent, Nebraska.

Gaylene was a "Stay at Home" Mom and took on the challenge of farm life. She enjoyed homemaking, helping with farm chores, and always made sure there was a very good meal on the table come Lunch or Supper time. Later in life she decided she should get a driver's license, so she did. She then could attend the kids' activities and run errands.

Outside of the home she was the bookkeeper at Dale's business Grint Farm Supply for many years. She was also employed at the Sargent Sale Barn. She volunteered her help for several local Bloodmobiles and worked at many Comstock elections.

She enjoyed attending Extension Club lunches, playing card and board games, cake decorating, cooking, camping, fishing, gardening, and being "Grandma". She and Dale enjoyed Country music, dancing, and traveling to many farm auctions all over the country. They also enjoyed going to the casino occasionally to test their luck. Her favorite thing of all was spending time with family.

In 2017, her health began to decline, and she began living at Brookstone View Nursing Home in Broken Bow, NE. She made many new friends there and kept busy most days crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, coloring, and helping with various craft projects. The nurses and staff referred to her as "A Gem" and "One of the Good Ones".

Gaylene is survived by her only brother Fred C. "Sonny" Martin and his wife Rosemary Martin of Lincoln, her children Jerry Grint and Debra Chanady of Sargent, son in law Luis Chanady Jr, grandchildren Louis Chanady IV of Sargent &amp; Tracie Chanady of Sycamore, Illinois, Nicole Wetgen, Kayla Gehring, Great Grand Children Trevor, Brooke, and Colton Wetgen. Brother and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.

Gaylene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, two older sisters Leila Sedam and Irene Hansel, several brothers and sisters-in-law and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Marianne Margaret Straka, 80, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Emerald Lakeview Nursing and Rehab in Grand Island.

She was born on April 4, 1943 in Lexington, Nebraska to Louis and Agnes (Benhauer) Straka. Marianne attended country school at District 56 and 7 in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1961.

Marianne gained employment with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in August of 1961. In 1964, when the Lexington offices closed, she transferred to the Grand Island location. Marianne worked for the telephone company for 35 years, retiring in 1999.

She enjoyed emailing, friendships and going out to eat. She always had a good sense of humor and a smile.

Marianne is survived by her brother, Tom Straka of Lexington, also relatives and friends.

Marianne Margaret Straka (1943-2023)

Willa Mae (Wagner) Hawinkson passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at the age of 90 in McCook, NE.

Willa Mae was born July 10, 1933, in Culbertson, Nebraska, the daughter of William Wagner and Clara (Wacker) Wagner. She lived on a farm until the age of 11 when the family moved into the village of Culbertson.&nbsp; The family also included brothers, Billy Jr., Jerry Lee and sister Elizabeth.

Her education was at the Culbertson public schools, where she graduated at the age of 16.&nbsp; She attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where she studied secretarial courses for one year.&nbsp; Most of her adult life she was employed as a secretary. She worked in the law office of Morrison &amp; Grover and the Bureau of Reclamation, both in McCook and the Social Security Administration in Scottsbluff.&nbsp; In Trenton, she worked at the Farmer’s Co-op, for attorney Jack H. Hendrix, and for the County of Hitchcock in the County Clerk’s office for 24 years.

Willa Mae and Arthur Hawkinson were married in Culbertson on April 17, 1955.&nbsp; Most of their married life they lived in the community of Stratton.&nbsp; Their children are Dianne Michelle Shafer, and Curtis Ray Hawkinson.&nbsp; Chris Reid, who is like a son to them, is also part of their family. Willa Mae’s father, William, lived with them for several years.

Willa Mae was active in many activities in the community including the Woman’s Club, Buzzin Dozen Extension Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She served in several offices in those organizations.&nbsp; She was involved in community fund drives and served on the election board and the Community Improvement group.&nbsp; She was also part of a birthday group and card club.

Willa Mae became a member of the Culbertson Evangelical United Brethren Church on March 30, 1947, and transferred her membership to The Community United Methodist Church in Stratton on October 30, 1960.&nbsp; This church was a big part of her life. She served as Chairperson of the Board, Sunday School Superintendent, financial secretary, and on many committees.&nbsp; She also sang in the choir and served as a delegate two years to the annual conference.

Willa Mae and Art enjoyed working and traveling together.&nbsp; They traveled to 49 states and to Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.&nbsp; They also enjoyed square dancing, boating, and water skiing. In later years they enjoyed long trips in their travel trailer.&nbsp; They lived in Culbertson, Pueblo, CO, McCook, Gering, Stratton, and Grove, OK.&nbsp; Her marriage, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren brought much joy to her life.

Willa Mae was preceded in death by her parents Clara in 1954 and William in 1983 and brothers Billy Junior in 1928 and Jerry Lee in 1935, as well as daughter in law Kathy Reid.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband Art Hawkinson of McCook, NE, children Dianne Shafer and husband Rick of McCook, NE, Curtis Hawkinson and partner Sheila Schmidt of Wilsonville, OR, and Chris Reid of McCook, NE, her sister Elizabeth Kisner of Kimberling City, MO, grandchildren Bryan Shafer and wife Alicia of Garden City, KS, Todd Shafer and wife Deidre of McCook, NE, Dr. Lila Hawkinson of Portland, OR, and Vivian Hawkinson of New Haven, CT.&nbsp; She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

 </figure>Willa Mae (Wagner) Hawinkson passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at the age of 90 in McCook, NE.Willa Mae was born July 10, 1933, in Culbertson, Nebraska, the daughter of William Wagner and Clara (Wacker) Wagner. She lived on a farm until the age of 11 when the family moved into the village of Culbertson.&nbsp; The family also included brothers, Billy Jr., Jerry Lee and sister Elizabeth.Her education was at the Culbertson public schools, where she graduated at the age of 16.&nbsp; She attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where she studied secretarial courses for one year.&nbsp; Most of her adult life she was employed as a secretary. She worked in the law office of Morrison &amp; Grover and the Bureau of Reclamation, both in McCook and the Social Security Administration in Scottsbluff.&nbsp; In Trenton, she worked at the Farmer’s Co-op, for attorney Jack H. Hendrix, and for the County of Hitchcock in the County Clerk’s office for 24 years.Willa Mae and Arthur Hawkinson were married in Culbertson on April 17, 1955.&nbsp; Most of their married life they lived in the community of Stratton.&nbsp; Their children are Dianne Michelle Shafer, and Curtis Ray Hawkinson.&nbsp; Chris Reid, who is like a son to them, is also part of their family. Willa Mae’s father, William, lived with them for several years.Willa Mae was active in many activities in the community including the Woman’s Club, Buzzin Dozen Extension Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She served in several offices in those organizations.&nbsp; She was involved in community fund drives and served on the election board and the Community Improvement group.&nbsp; She was also part of a birthday group and card club.Willa Mae became a member of the Culbertson Evangelical United Brethren Church on March 30, 1947, and transferred her membership to The Community United Methodist Church in Stratton on October 30, 1960.&nbsp; This church was a big part of her life. She served as Chairperson of the Board, Sunday School Superintendent, financial secretary, and on many committees.&nbsp; She also sang in the choir and served as a delegate two years to the annual conference.Willa Mae and Art enjoyed working and traveling together.&nbsp; They traveled to 49 states and to Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.&nbsp; They also enjoyed square dancing, boating, and water skiing. In later years they enjoyed long trips in their travel trailer.&nbsp; They lived in Culbertson, Pueblo, CO, McCook, Gering, Stratton, and Grove, OK.&nbsp; Her marriage, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren brought much joy to her life.Willa Mae was preceded in death by her parents Clara in 1954 and William in 1983 and brothers Billy Junior in 1928 and Jerry Lee in 1935, as well as daughter in law Kathy Reid.&nbsp;She is survived by her husband Art Hawkinson of McCook, NE, children Dianne Shafer and husband Rick of McCook, NE, Curtis Hawkinson and partner Sheila Schmidt of Wilsonville, OR, and Chris Reid of McCook, NE, her sister Elizabeth Kisner of Kimberling City, MO, grandchildren Bryan Shafer and wife Alicia of Garden City, KS, Todd Shafer and wife Deidre of McCook, NE, Dr. Lila Hawkinson of Portland, OR, and Vivian Hawkinson of New Haven, CT.&nbsp; She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Willa Mae Hawkinson (1933-2023)

Darwin Elmer Ransom, age 95, passed away peacefully at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. on August 22nd, with his family by his side. He was born June 27, 1928, in Stratton, Neb., and was the son of the late Elmer and Ruth (Craw) Ransom. He grew up on a nearly 1500-acre farm that straddled two counties and two time zones in southwest Nebraska, making last minute trips to the hardware store at 4:59 p.m. very interesting. Darwin graduated from Stratton High School in Stratton, NE. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in Japan and the Philippines, training as a heavy equipment mechanic, building on his experience on the farm fixing tractors. In 1948, he enrolled at the University of Nebraska at the main campus in Lincoln and earned a BS degree in Agriculture. Darwin spent time flying planes with friends and met the love of his life, Roseanel VanStrom. Rosie was a city girl from Lincoln studying education at the University of Nebraska. The two were married in Lincoln in 1954 and began 54 years of marriage together.

Darwin began his professional career as a County Agricultural Extension Agent in Hayes County, Neb., supporting 4-H clubs, writing soil test and seed certification recommendations, and working with farmers. This initial work experience led to a 40-year career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), taking him and his family across the country from Lincoln, Nebraska to Seattle, Washington, to Richmond, Virginia, and ultimately to Washington, D.C., where he and Rosie raised their family in the D.C. suburb of Dale City, Va. At USDA in Washington, Darwin became a renowned figure as the sugar expert at the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

While Darwin loved math and statistics, his natural inclination toward helping people emerged after his retirement from federal service when he began a lengthy career in real estate. He also manifested his interest in public service with his participation in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) through which he made some of his most lasting friendships.

Darwin also got the travel bug after retirement, joining NARFE friends at meetings around the country and traveling with family and friends to Alaska, Maine, and Florida.

Darwin was a faithful member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dale City, Va. for 48 years. Darwin is preceded in death by his wife, Roseanel (VanStrom) Ransom. Survivors include sons, Roger Ransom and wife, Rhonda of Lebanon Church, Va., Elmer Ransom and wife, Catharine of Arlington, Va.; daughters, Nancy Ransom of Woodbridge, Va., Laura Ransom and husband, Kevin McGrath of Lincoln, Neb.; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua, Hannah, Donna, Connor and Cole.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, Va., 22193. (Note: there is another Mountcastle location in Woodbridge, this event is at the Dale City location, please confirm the address before driving.) A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 14999 Birchdale Ave., Dale City, Va. 22193. Darwin E. Ransom (198-2023)

Stephen Scott Lauer, age 70, of Brule, NE passed away on August 25, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Steve was born on March 15, 1953, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Robert William and Jeanette Griffith Lauer. He grew up on a farm northeast of Cozad, where he graduated from Cozad High School in 1971. He joined the rodeo team at UNL, where he graduated with a degree in Animal Science.

After college, Steve moved to the Brule area, where he first worked at the McGinley-Shultz feedlot. Then, he went to work for Wayne Frates until 1985, when the family sold the farm. During this time, Steve acquired his own herd of cattle and started his own custom haying business, Twin Valley Commodities, along with his pilot's license, with the help of Darrel Munson.

Steve married Donna (Reichenberg) Henson in October 1986; they were blessed with two children: Scott Wesley and Jessica Lynn Lauer.

In the Fall of 2017, Steve married Karen Mostrom, and they made their home east of Brule.

Steve, being a true cowboy at heart, much preferred horses over wheels. He loved his family and his work. He was overjoyed when he got to share his passion for cowboying with his kids. From teaching them to rope or helping them with 4-H, Steve's face shined with pride when he got to pass along his love and knowledge to young ones. And if there was a dance within a 100-mile radius, Steve was there with his daughter Jess, and if she wasn't there, the ladies would line up to catch a dance with him!

Somebody once said that a cowboy's journey isn't marked by the dust he left behind but rather the trials he blazed and the tales he left in the hearts of those who rode alongside him. May he forever ride the trails of Heaven with the wind at his back and God's light shining upon his face.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Lauer of Brule; daughter, Jessie Lauer of Brule; grandson, Jaxson Scott Lauer; siblings, Dan (Teresa) Lauer of Norton, KS, Sherri (Garon) Stewart of Ogallala, NE, Terri (Brian) Commins of Ogallala, NE, Angie (Steve) Mueting of Aurora, CO; along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Susan Carr, “Sue” or “Susie”, a beloved resident of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023. Born on March 31, 1954, in North Platte, Susan's life was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

With a deep sense of pride for her hometown, Sue attended and graduated from high school in Maywood. Her formative years were spent in and around Maywood, where she developed lasting friendships and cherished memories. Later on, she made the decision to move to North Platte, where she would spend the remainder of her years.

Some of Sue’s greatest joys in life were spending time with her family. Taking country road drives with sister Teri, visiting sister Jan at her house and especially spending time with her grandchildren, Landyn and Easton. Whether it was embarking on delightful adventures together or simply enjoying quiet moments at home, she treasured every second she shared with them. Sue’s love for family knew no bounds; she held a special place in her heart for all her loved ones. Her warm smile and infectious laugh brightened the lives of everyone she encountered.

Known for her compassionate nature and playful spirit, Sue had an extraordinary ability to make people laugh. Her quick wit and humorous anecdotes brought endless joy to those around her.&nbsp;

Sue’s unwavering love extended beyond her immediate family as well. She never knew a stranger; instead, everyone she met became an instant friend. Her kind heart and welcoming nature made others feel seen and valued. Sue is survived by countless friends and family, including her loving daughter, Amanda (Ricky) Gilmore and her two grandsons- Landyn and Easton, who were the light of her life. All together, they shared a lifetime of experiences, supporting one another through thick and thin.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Nancy “Sue” Kerr, 73 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away, on August 27, 2023, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Sue was born in Oxford, on June 15, 1950, the fifth of six children, born to Melvin and Lois (Abraham) Bard. She received her education from Edison Public Schools.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On April 21, 1967, Sue was united in marriage to Jimmy Kerr in Beaver City, Nebraska, and to this union four children were born: Stephanie, Connie, Neil, and Angie. The couple made their home in Oxford.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue was a devoted mother and grandmother. &nbsp;She loved running her in-home daycare for over 30 years. &nbsp;She loved those kids and their families. &nbsp;Sue enjoyed volunteering at the Oxford Thrift Store, the Granada Theater and with Meals-on-Wheels. &nbsp;Sue had a generous heart.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue enjoyed playing cards and was an excellent cook and laundry queen! &nbsp;She enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren’s activities. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ramon Dawson.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Oxford; her four children: Stephanie Figgins; Connie Lovin and her husband, Shannon; Neil Kerr and his wife, Stacy; and Angie Kerr; nine grandchildren: Dusitn Kerr; Ciara Figgins; Karesse Figgins; Jonas Lovin and his wife, Ali; Josiah Lovin and his wife, Brooklyn; Elijah Lovin and his wife, Grace; Sydney Kerr; Tyson Kerr; and Nathan Kerr; one great-granddaughter, Elle Lovin; four brothers: Fairen Bard and his wife, Sharon; Tom Bard; Gary Bard and his wife, Cindy; and Wendell Bard; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The couple made their home in Oxford.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue was a devoted mother and grandmother. &nbsp;She loved running her in-home daycare for over 30 years. &nbsp;She loved those kids and their families. &nbsp;Sue enjoyed volunteering at the Oxford Thrift Store, the Granada Theater and with Meals-on-Wheels. &nbsp;Sue had a generous heart.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue enjoyed playing cards and was an excellent cook and laundry queen! &nbsp;She enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren’s activities. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ramon Dawson.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Sue is survived by her husband, Jimmy of Oxford; her four children: Stephanie Figgins; Connie Lovin and her husband, Shannon; Neil Kerr and his wife, Stacy; and Angie Kerr; nine grandchildren: Dusitn Kerr; Ciara Figgins; Karesse Figgins; Jonas Lovin and his wife, Ali; Josiah Lovin and his wife, Brooklyn; Elijah Lovin and his wife, Grace; Sydney Kerr; Tyson Kerr; and Nathan Kerr; one great-granddaughter, Elle Lovin; four brothers: Fairen Bard and his wife, Sharon; Tom Bard; Gary Bard and his wife, Cindy; and Wendell Bard; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the family present, at the Spirit of the Rock Church in Oxford. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A memorial has been established in Sue’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Expressions of caring and kindness can be sent to the family at www.nelsonbauerfh.com&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
