Edward Elmer Claflin, 88, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away September 16, 2023 at Gothenburg Health in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born February 3, 1935 at home near Stockville, NE, son of Wayne and Fay Claflin.

Ed was a member of Nebraska State Callers, and Caller Lab. He enjoyed calling Square Dancing, doing woodworking, collecting, hunting, fishing, camping. On June 2, 1957 Ed married Shirley Meester, to this union two daughters were born, Michelle and Melissa. Ed worked for Co-op for many years and later as a diesel mechanic for Lepp and Osterloh. After retiring Ed drove cars for Pony Express as well as continued to call square dances, and served many years on the Gothenburg Honor Guard. In his later years Ed enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren working on cars, traveling, riding his motorcycle, taking his car to car shows and cooking any chance he got. &nbsp;He enjoyed supporting the Guardians of the Children, especially cooking chili for there fundraisers.&nbsp;

Survivors include his two daughters, Michelle (Mike) Courtney of Lincoln, Melissa (Terry) Walker of Gothenburg, grandson, Levi (Mackinzie) Walker, granddaughter, Courtnee (Jordan) Magnuson, sister, Cindy (Ron) Sabin and their son Colby (Christin) Claflin, brother, Mike (Deb) Claflin, great-grandchildren, Khloe, Oakley, Onyx Magnuson and Josephene, honorary grandson Keyan Anderson and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Edward was preceded in death by wife, Shirley Georgene, parents, Wayne and Fay, grandson, Tyler Lee Walker, sisters, Nita, Donna, Marilyn, Ruth, in-laws, Walter and Hannah Meester.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Monday, September 25, 2023, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 10:30 am with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating. &nbsp;

Interment will follow in the American Lutheran Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.

&nbsp; Treva Mae Lynes peacefully passed away at Linden Court on September 18,2023, at age 94. Treva, the daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth Leach, was born at home near Lemoyne, NE, on December 16, 1928.&nbsp; The family moved close to Sutherland in 1932 then, after work began on the Sutherland Reservoir, they moved again, this time to a farm 10 miles southwest of North Platte. Treva's schooling began in 1934 when she attended rural school. She then attended Leth Rural School and North Platte High School through the spring of '45.&nbsp; Treva went on to earn her teaching certificate from Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis then taught in Lincoln County rural schools from 1946-48. During the War years of 1942 to '46, it was hard to find men to work in the fields so Treva and her sister, Twila, helped their dad.&nbsp; Because they had to use horses to work and herd cattle Treva learned to love riding horses. In 1949, Treva married Willard Connor and they had a son, Arlis. On December 31, 1952, she wed Clive Lynes and they made their home at Paxton.&nbsp; After Clive passed away in 1990, Treva had a long time companion, Bob Boettger. Treva and Clive moved to North Platte in 1956 and went to work on the Leach Ranch until 1970.&nbsp; In the fall of '75 Treva started working for J.M. McDonald and was there until the store closed 8 years later.&nbsp; She then worked at Alco for 27 years and retired in 2008. Along with working, Treva was a 4-H leader for 10 years and served as Director on the District 122 School Board for several years.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, embroidering, and taking care of her house plants. Along with her husband, Clive, Treva was preceded in death by her daughter, Mavis Poland; companion Bob Boettger; her parents; infant brother, Gavin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Twila and Bill Kruger, Lela and Myron Morash and Jenevie and Delbert Tobey; and sisters-in-law, Shadra Leach and Char Leach. Treva is survived by her brother, Ebert Leach of North Platte; children, Arlis Lynes (Bev) of California, Vernene Kanive of Kearney, Deb Nelson(Kevin) of Omaha, and Lois Lynes-Miles and Clive "CJ" Lynes (Kandi) of North Platte; her grandchildren, Christy Sheets (Clint), Carrie Ritter (Tom), Brad Biggins (Terri), Elizabeth Vrbka (Danny), Terry Poland(Elizabeth), Lonnie Bruce (Kimberly), Jon Miles (Kayla), Brendan Lynes, and Seth Lynes (Grace Eilert); 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members. Treva Mae Lynes (1928-2023)

Elaine M. Soncksen, age 90, of Hayes Center, NE passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Elaine was born July 11, 1933 in Blue Hill, NE to parents Fred J and Louise S (Buck) Luhn. She was the youngest of five siblings. The family moved to McCook in 1940 and Elaine graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1951.

On June 14, 1953, Elaine married the love of her life, Arthur Soncksen in McCook. They were blessed with three children: Beverly, Michael and Bradley. &nbsp;Arthur and Elaine recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Elaine was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she enjoyed serving in a variety of ways. She was also local 4-H Leader and member of the Sunny Hills Stitcher’s Club.&nbsp; Elaine was a key member of the family’s farming operation and will be remembered for the many large gardens she grew over the years. &nbsp;

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Beverly Soncksen; and siblings, Gertrude (Gus) Schultz, Vera (Rue) Troester, Marlin (Dorthy) Luhn and Wilma Jean Luhn.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Art Soncksen of Hayes Center, NE; sons, Mike (Lynn) Soncksen of McCook and Brad (Patti) Soncksen of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Christopher (Alicia) Soncksen and daughter, Kinley, of Lincoln, NE, Peter Soncksen of McCook, NE,&nbsp;Erik Soncksen of Lincoln, NE, Joseph Soncksen and fiancée, Rylie Egle, of McCook, NE and Abigail Soncksen of Johnson City, TN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.&nbsp;

Elaine M Soncksen (1933-2023)

&nbsp; Lynn Gordon Haarberg was born July 10, 1941, in Imperial, Nebraska to Henry and Esther (Buss) Haarberg. Lynn grew up in the Wauneta area and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church and was baptized on July 27, 1941 and later confirmed into the faith on April 3, 1955.

Lynn graduated from Wauneta High School in 1959 and worked briefly for Frontier Airlines in Lincoln, NE. This lasted a short period of time until Lynn was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from 1964-1965 during the Viet Nam Conflict.

Upon his return from service, Lynn met and married the love of his life, Darlene Baldonado on November 26, 1967 a love which lasted until 2016 when Darlene passed away. The couple farmed and ranched Charolais Cattle on the North Divide until retiring in 2004 when Lynn and Darlene decided to move into Wauneta.

Lynn is survived by his daughter, Theresa Haarberg of Lincoln, NE; his brother, Kent Haarberg and wife Elaine of Kearney, NE; sister-in-law, Sharon Haarberg of Wauneta, NE.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Haarberg; his parents; and brother, Lavon Haarberg.

Public Visitation for Lynn will be held from 5:00 p.m. MT - 7:00 p.m. MT on Tuesday, September 19 at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta. Lynn Gordon Haarberg (1941-2023)

On September 17, 2023, Angela “Angel” Therece Robinson, died at Great Plains Health, at the age of 51. &nbsp;She was born to Stanley and Sandra (Brown) Pittman on January 20, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Angel attended school in Barnesville until the start of her middle school career when she then moved to Marysville, California with her family. &nbsp;In 1988, she met Benny Robinson, as a sophomore in high school. &nbsp;Upon graduating Maysville High School in 1990, the couple was wed. &nbsp;In 1993, they decided to move to Nebraska and start a family. &nbsp;The two adopted their daughter, Rebecca, 1994. &nbsp;Angel worked here and there in customer service jobs but was most proud of being a mother and a wife. &nbsp;She was incredibly artistic, from painting to macramé. &nbsp;Angel was headstrong but also very kind, always putting others needs before her own. &nbsp;

Survivors of Angel include her husband, Benny Robinson; daughter, Rebecca (Travis) Beck; granddaughter, Taniah; siblings, Linda Scarlet, Priscilla, Daniel “DJ”, Denise, Shirley, and Stanley Pittman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Sandra.

Angela "Angel" T. Robinson (1972-2023)

Larry G. Harvill passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his home in Cozad at the age of 84. Larry was born May 29, 1939 to Cleo Alden and Hazel Margaret (McElravy) Harvill at the family home in Surprise, Nebraska. His family moved to Gresham, Oak and finally Tilden, Nebraska where Larry graduated from Tilden High School with the class of 1957. Larry was a National Merit Scholar finalist and was offered a full ride scholarship to three colleges: Brown, Stanford and Tulane. Larry chose Tulane and studied Civil Engineering for three semesters before changing his major to theology and lost his scholarship. He returned home for a short time and decided to join the U.S. Air Force in 1959. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He was then sent to Stanford to become a Russian linguist and to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas for extensive cryptology specialist training. Following basic training he was sent to Berlin, Germany. During the day, he would listen to radio communication from Russian and German pilots for any intelligence. He managed the base theater in the evenings, where he met his future wife, Gertrud. They were married on November 28, 1963. Larry returned home to the USA with his wife and children after 9 months of marriage. He worked for Tip Top Products in Omaha as a cost accountant clerk, at Omaha Steel as assistant controller and then National Crane in Waverly as cost accountant manager. At this time he purchased the State Theatre in Auburn, Nebraska and operated it for 18 months. The family moved to Cozad, Nebraska in 1978. He was CFO at Nebraska Plastics until 2014. He started his own business, Harvill Tax Service and continued to serve the community until his retirement. Larry was a faithful and devoted member of the Cozad United Methodist Church, serving as financial secretary, sound specialist, and past board member of Camp Comeca. He was a current or past member of, or held a position at:&nbsp; Cozad Food Pantry, American Legion, Wilson Public Library Board, Cozad Housing Authority Board, Cozad Grand Generation Board, Henri Museum Board, MENSA, World of Entertainment Board, Habitat for Humanity, Dawson County Red Cross, City Council, Legion Dist. 5 Baseball, Cub Scouts and Junior Achievement Program. He was a past member of the Masons, Elks Lodge and Eagles organizations. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrud; brother, Leo Harvill; and sons, Christian and David Harvill. He is survived by his daughters, Gabriele (Bill) Graham of Cozad and Karen (Wes) Harmoney of Amherst; grandchildren, Kelly (Amber) Graham of Cozad, Rebeccah (Kyle) Buell of Cozad, Victoria Harmoney of Amherst, Katelyn Harvill of Cozad, Shawn (Kat) Graham of Amarillo, TX, Holly Graham of Reno, NV, Kasey (Eric) Weller of North Platte; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; siblings, Roger Harvill of Omaha, Mike (Carolyn) Harvill of Shawnee, KS, and Mary Harvill Ryan of Norfolk; sister in law, Joyce Harvill Johnson of TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

 </figure>Larry G. Harvill passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his home in Cozad at the age of 84. Larry was born May 29, 1939 to Cleo Alden and Hazel Margaret (McElravy) Harvill at the family home in Surprise, Nebraska. His family moved to Gresham, Oak and finally Tilden, Nebraska where Larry graduated from Tilden High School with the class of 1957. Larry was a National Merit Scholar finalist and was offered a full ride scholarship to three colleges: Brown, Stanford and Tulane. Larry chose Tulane and studied Civil Engineering for three semesters before changing his major to theology and lost his scholarship. He returned home for a short time and decided to join the U.S. Air Force in 1959. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He was then sent to Stanford to become a Russian linguist and to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas for extensive cryptology specialist training. Following basic training he was sent to Berlin, Germany. During the day, he would listen to radio communication from Russian and German pilots for any intelligence. He managed the base theater in the evenings, where he met his future wife, Gertrud. They were married on November 28, 1963. Larry returned home to the USA with his wife and children after 9 months of marriage. He worked for Tip Top Products in Omaha as a cost accountant clerk, at Omaha Steel as assistant controller and then National Crane in Waverly as cost accountant manager. At this time he purchased the State Theatre in Auburn, Nebraska and operated it for 18 months. The family moved to Cozad, Nebraska in 1978. He was CFO at Nebraska Plastics until 2014. He started his own business, Harvill Tax Service and continued to serve the community until his retirement. Larry was a faithful and devoted member of the Cozad United Methodist Church, serving as financial secretary, sound specialist, and past board member of Camp Comeca. He was a current or past member of, or held a position at:&nbsp; Cozad Food Pantry, American Legion, Wilson Public Library Board, Cozad Housing Authority Board, Cozad Grand Generation Board, Henri Museum Board, MENSA, World of Entertainment Board, Habitat for Humanity, Dawson County Red Cross, City Council, Legion Dist. 5 Baseball, Cub Scouts and Junior Achievement Program. He was a past member of the Masons, Elks Lodge and Eagles organizations. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertrud; brother, Leo Harvill; and sons, Christian and David Harvill. He is survived by his daughters, Gabriele (Bill) Graham of Cozad and Karen (Wes) Harmoney of Amherst; grandchildren, Kelly (Amber) Graham of Cozad, Rebeccah (Kyle) Buell of Cozad, Victoria Harmoney of Amherst, Katelyn Harvill of Cozad, Shawn (Kat) Graham of Amarillo, TX, Holly Graham of Reno, NV, Kasey (Eric) Weller of North Platte; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; siblings, Roger Harvill of Omaha, Mike (Carolyn) Harvill of Shawnee, KS, and Mary Harvill Ryan of Norfolk; sister in law, Joyce Harvill Johnson of TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Larry’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Bellarmee Milosi officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Darlene Mae (Muir) (Kinnaman) Haines, 93, of North Platte, Nebraska, gained her angel wings on September 13, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Linden Court Nursing Home in North Platte. She was born on November 1, 1929, on the farm below the Harlan County Reservoir (Republican City) to Robert Henry and Lillie Fae (Richter) Muir. She grew up in Naponee and attended District #42 country school up to the &nbsp;6th grade, and then graduated from Naponee High School with the class of 1948. Darlene then attended Kearney State College.&nbsp;

After graduating college, she taught school for four years at Naponee. She was joined in marriage to Manard Kinnaman and was blessed with a daughter, Janice. She was widowed shortly after Janice’s birth.&nbsp;

Darlene was united in marriage to Johnnie “John” Haines in 1953, to which two children were born: Theresa and Rickie. Darlene returned to being a full-time mother and housewife while living on the farm, north of Naponee for 14 years. In 1963, Darlene and family moved to North Platte. Darlene returned to work for North Platte School System for six years.&nbsp;

In 1979, she was blessed to raise three beautiful grandchildren with a lot of good memories. Darlene had a great bond with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all very much. Darlene was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 364 for 69 years and the Congregational Church at Naponee.&nbsp;

Darlene’s hobbies included spending time with family, canning, sewing, cooking, and baking, with dancing being her favorite. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, always keeping them in the center of her life. She always had her arms open to anyone in need. Darlene had a smile we will never forget. She always sang “happy birthday” to each family member on their birthday.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Manard Kinnaman and John Haines; a daughter, Janice; her parents; her grandparents: two brothers: Bobby (Jackie), and Donnie (Margaret); one great-grandchild, Bentley Hinrichs; and numerous relatives and friends.&nbsp;

Survivors include: her children, Theresa (Doug) Kelley of North Platte; and Rickie (Kristina) Haines of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren: Becky Smith-Matthewson, Bernie Smith, Kerri (Corey) Harvey, Tamara (Nolan) Clouse, Jason (Callie) Haines, Timothy (Mary Beth) Kelley, Tonya (Chris) Hinrichs, Jeremey Haines, Leigh KaRenn (Daryl) Strecker, Trishelle (Wayne) Barton, Tara (Beau) Sheets, and Brett Warta; 26 great-grandchildren: Kellie Matthewson, Abby (Tevin) Erickson, Larry (Christy) Erickson III, Hannah Strecker, Kamdyn Sheets, Ty Sheets, Avery Strecker, Matthew Erickson, Clay Sheets, Drew Strecker, Keeghan Clouse, Braeden Clouse, Kennedy Sheets, Will Kelsey, Briawna Hinrichs, Karsyn Sheets, Olivia Barton, Dax Strecker, Ava Barton, Faith Haines, Korbin Haines, Mila Smith, Gatlyn Kelley, and Huxlee Kelley; many extended family members and friends.

Darlene Haines (1929-2023)

Mona Faith Cooper (Robson) (92) passed away on September 12, 2023. Mona was born on June 11, 1931, in South Shields, England, to Leonard and Jennie (Bird) Robson. After departing school at the age of 14 (the required age at that time), she worked at Barwells Tyre Renewing Factory and at the Land Settlement Association in Fen Drayton.

Mona met the love of her life, Alvin, in England, in 1951 and married him in Nebraska after a five year correspondence courtship. &nbsp;She vowed to love, honor, and protect her beloved husband, Alvin, all their days in sickness and in health. Throughout their 65 years of marital bliss, she kept that promise to the end of his days and she left this world reluctantly, slipping through the veil to rest, refresh, and be reunited with those she loved who went on before her. Surely, we can picture in our minds their joyous reunion.

Aside from her love if being a devoted partner, she enjoyed sewing. In particular, she loved redressing and fixing used dolls (whereby no two dolls were alike) for charity. In Alabama, Mona belonged to the NCO Wives Club, Ceramics Club, and Commonwealth Club. &nbsp;In Uehling, she enjoyed her involvement with the Happy Hour Club and visiting the New-To-You Shoppe.

Mona was one of a kind to be sure! She was thoughtful, caring, loving, and never expressed any sadness she might have had but she was sure to advise and encourage people during their misfortunes. Anyone who knew Mona, loved her deeply for she was everyone’s aunt!

Mona is predeceased in death by her parents, her brothers, Kenneth Robson and Bernard Robson, and her husband, Alvin Cooper. Mona is survived by her sister, Noreen (Robson) Bradwell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mona Cooper (1931-2023)

Wanda&nbsp;Jenkins, age 92 of North Platte, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2023, at David Place in David City where she had been residing.

Wanda was born in Wellfleet on December 25, 1930, to McKinley and Dena (Rucker) Goodwin. &nbsp;She grew up in Lincoln County and graduated as valedictorian of Hershey High School in 1948. &nbsp;Wanda later graduated from Kearney State College in 1971 with her BA in Education and her MA in Administration in 1981. &nbsp;She taught in many rural schools around Lincoln County and was Frontier County Superintendent of Schools from 1974-79. &nbsp;She later worked in bookkeeping for several businesses.

On December 30, 1948, Wanda married Wilber Lightfritz at Hershey. &nbsp;They had 5 children and were married for 23 years when he unexpectedly passed away in 1971. &nbsp;She married Cecil Imler at Sutherland in 1984. &nbsp;After Cecil's death in 1991, Wanda married John Jenkins at Council Groves, KS, on September 5, 1992, and they were together until his passing in 2003.

Wanda was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, R.S.V.P., and a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. &nbsp;When Wanda and John were together, they belonged to the Mission Service Corps. and traveled to Oklahoma, Arizona, Missouri, Florida, Alaska, and many places in-between. &nbsp;After his death she did mission work for the Oregon&nbsp;Trail&nbsp;Baptist Association (O.T.B.A.) for 7 years. Wanda enjoyed being a volunteer and playing music for residents at South Oak Manor. She was kind and generous with her time and talents.

Along with her husbands, Wanda was preceded in death by her infant son, Johnny Lightfritz; daughter, Shirley Szwanek; her parents, McKinley and Dena Goodwin; brothers, Lyle and Dale Goodwin; and sisters, Iola Eckhoff, Mary Russell and Cora Mae Whittaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay (Doug) Reznicek of Rising City, NE; sons, Michael Lightfritz of Columbus and Scott (Tammi) Lightfritz of Sidney; son-in-law, David (Mary) Szwanek of North Platte; stepchildren, David Jenkins, Tommy Jenkins and Joyce Jenkins; brother-in-law, Melvin Eckhoff of Sutherland; sister-in-law, Altene Goodwin of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Gary, Dannille, James David, Brandy, Scott, Jamie, Shelby, Shawna and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Santana, Anyssa, Tristan, Colton, Lexie, Sophia, Hazel and Autumn; great great-grandson, Zayvier; as well as many other family.

Wanda Jenkins (1930-2023)

Richard Helvey, 77, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska.

Richard (Dick) Dennis Helvey was born December 13, 1945, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Wilbur and Adelaide (Naviaux) Helvey. He attended North 17 grade school and graduated from St. Ann’s High School in Lexington with the class of 1964. He graduated from Kearney State College in 1968 with degrees in math and accounting and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.&nbsp;

Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an accountant and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.&nbsp; After college, he was a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department. Later he was an accomplished banker, entrepreneur, and real estate investor.&nbsp;

He married Carol Jean White from Ulysses, Nebraska on June 12, 1970, at the Kearney State College Campus Newman Center. They were the parents of Dori Anne, Jason Thaine, and Carmen Elizabeth. They raised their family in Lexington and moved to Johnson Lake in 2014. Dick and CJ both loved evenings with friends at Dance Club and playing cards. When their kids were young, many summer weekends were spent camping, canoeing and teaching the kids to water ski. They also enjoyed many trips to the mountains with friends where he spent countless hours teaching the kids to snow ski. Later, many fun days were spent teaching his eleven grandkids a variety of things from picking up sticks and branches for pennies to the importance of how to take care of vehicles and other household items.

He was incredibly involved in his community. His involvement included serving in various roles in the St. Ann’s Catholic Church parish community, Lexington Housing Authority Board of Directors, Lexington Council for Economic Development, Dawson County Veterans Service Board, Johnson Lake Area Development Board, Greater Nebraska Workforce Development Board, Sunridge Homeowners Association Board, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, as well as other community organizations.

Dick always had a trick to show, a story to tell, and a joke to make you laugh. He made the world a better place for his family, community, and the less fortunate among us. He had an innate kinship with and devotion to other victims of spinal cord injury. His life exemplified and raised the bar on overcoming adversity.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Adelaide; mother-in-law, Anita (Cordes) White; father-in-law, Morris White; younger brother, Al; brother-in-law, Con Ogden; and brother-in-law, Don White.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean of Johnson Lake; daughter, Dori Moomey and her husband, Travis, of Kearney; son, Dr. Jason Helvey and his wife, Sarah, of Omaha; daughter Carmen Pleskac and her husband, Steven, of Fremont; sister, Marjorie Ogden of Littleton, CO; and his grandchildren: Hallett and his wife, Sophie Moomey, Phillip Moomey, Jillian Moomey, Camille Moomey, Marigold Helvey, Marley Helvey, Wesley Pleskac, Lucia Pleskac, Jaxon Pleskac, Derek Pleskac, and Rosalie Pleskac.&nbsp; He is also survived by a niece, Laurie; nephew, Brett; aunt, Sr. Mary Helena Naviaux; and many other dear relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating. Mass will be live - streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington.

 </figure>Richard Helvey, 77, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska.Richard (Dick) Dennis Helvey was born December 13, 1945, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Wilbur and Adelaide (Naviaux) Helvey. He attended North 17 grade school and graduated from St. Ann’s High School in Lexington with the class of 1964. He graduated from Kearney State College in 1968 with degrees in math and accounting and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.&nbsp;Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an accountant and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.&nbsp; After college, he was a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department. Later he was an accomplished banker, entrepreneur, and real estate investor.&nbsp;He married Carol Jean White from Ulysses, Nebraska on June 12, 1970, at the Kearney State College Campus Newman Center. They were the parents of Dori Anne, Jason Thaine, and Carmen Elizabeth. They raised their family in Lexington and moved to Johnson Lake in 2014. Dick and CJ both loved evenings with friends at Dance Club and playing cards. When their kids were young, many summer weekends were spent camping, canoeing and teaching the kids to water ski. They also enjoyed many trips to the mountains with friends where he spent countless hours teaching the kids to snow ski. Later, many fun days were spent teaching his eleven grandkids a variety of things from picking up sticks and branches for pennies to the importance of how to take care of vehicles and other household items.He was incredibly involved in his community. His involvement included serving in various roles in the St. Ann’s Catholic Church parish community, Lexington Housing Authority Board of Directors, Lexington Council for Economic Development, Dawson County Veterans Service Board, Johnson Lake Area Development Board, Greater Nebraska Workforce Development Board, Sunridge Homeowners Association Board, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, as well as other community organizations.Dick always had a trick to show, a story to tell, and a joke to make you laugh. He made the world a better place for his family, community, and the less fortunate among us. He had an innate kinship with and devotion to other victims of spinal cord injury. His life exemplified and raised the bar on overcoming adversity.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Adelaide; mother-in-law, Anita (Cordes) White; father-in-law, Morris White; younger brother, Al; brother-in-law, Con Ogden; and brother-in-law, Don White.He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean of Johnson Lake; daughter, Dori Moomey and her husband, Travis, of Kearney; son, Dr. Jason Helvey and his wife, Sarah, of Omaha; daughter Carmen Pleskac and her husband, Steven, of Fremont; sister, Marjorie Ogden of Littleton, CO; and his grandchildren: Hallett and his wife, Sophie Moomey, Phillip Moomey, Jillian Moomey, Camille Moomey, Marigold Helvey, Marley Helvey, Wesley Pleskac, Lucia Pleskac, Jaxon Pleskac, Derek Pleskac, and Rosalie Pleskac.&nbsp; He is also survived by a niece, Laurie; nephew, Brett; aunt, Sr. Mary Helena Naviaux; and many other dear relatives and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating. Jack Sidbury (1946-2023)

Johnnie Archuletta, 97, of North Platte, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Sept. 13, 2023. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

He was born Oct. 6, 1925 in Thompson Springs, UT to Jose and Soccoro Archuletta. Johnnie attended school at Thompson Springs, UT; Moab, UT; and Carbon County High School, UT.

A early special graduation in his senior year was held for 18 year old men to graduate and to be inducted into military service for World War II. &nbsp;He was assigned to Fort Douglas in Utah. &nbsp;He served in World War II from 1943 to 1946. &nbsp;A majority of his time was served in the Philippines and New Guinea. &nbsp;He also served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. &nbsp;He was privileged to be able to fly on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2017. &nbsp;He was also the recipient of a Quilt of Valor in 2020. &nbsp;He was very proud of his service in the military and considered it an honor to serve his country.

Johnnie married Josephine Quintana on Nov 18, 1946 in Greeley, CO. To this union three children were born: Phillip, Richard, and Deborah. &nbsp;They lived in Cheyenne, WY where he began his 40-year career with the Union Pacific Railroad. He was transferred to North Platte in 1949, retiring in 1986.

He liked to stay active with fishing, riding his bike to work, gardening and growing peaches in his backyard and playing with his grandchildren. &nbsp;He was a man of many talents ranging from cooking, carpentry to mechanical. &nbsp;He was very meticulous about his yard as evidenced by winning a yard of the week award. &nbsp;He enjoyed listening to music from the Big Bands era of the 1940’s and 1950’s. &nbsp;Family was very important to him and he was a loving and caring father. &nbsp;Johnnie loved all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren dearly, but shared a special bond with his two grandsons that lived in North Platte: Cosmo, Jr. and Johnathan. &nbsp;He also had a special relationship with the Mike and Donna Coleman family, including their children Debbie, Michele (John), Dawn and Michael (Jennifer). &nbsp;He had a special place in his heart for all children and people needing help. &nbsp;He will always be remembered as a very soft-spoken man who never said a bad word about anyone.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; brothers, Jim, Tony, Albert, and Stanley Archuletta, Alfonso (Andy) Ybarra; sisters, Rose, Margaret, Josephine, and Adeline; and grandson, Cosmo Contreras, Jr.

Survivors include his children, Phil (Betty) of Gladstone, MO, Rick (Rita) of North Platte, Deb (Johnny) Navarrete of North Platte; eight grandchildren, Scott Archuletta, Matthew Archuletta, Kelly (Jeff) Dodd Hay, John (Anni) Archuletta, Jim (Amy) Archuletta, Terri (Ben) Studley, Johnathan (Ashley) Navarrete and Angela (Reagan) Shopp; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Peter (Sherry) Aperges of Salt Lake City, UT; and other family members.

Mildred “Midge” Eilene Hansen, age 74 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE.

Midge was born to Curtis and Mildred (Delatour) Huckfeldt, June 14, 1949 in Lewellen, NE.&nbsp; She attended school in Lewellen and graduated from Lewellen High School in 1967. Midge went on to attend Nursing School in Denver, CO. She then returned to Ogallala, NE, where she worked for Indian Hills Manor and Chapel Nursing Home and then Perkins County Nursing Home until her retirement in 2015 from healthcare.

She enjoyed having holidays with her Grandchildren and loved attending their school activities. She also found joy in making blankets for the hospital and her friends.

She is survived by her Sons, John (Gretchen) Nowak of North Platte, NE, and Scott (Megan) Nowak of Keystone; Grandchildren, Bentley and Landen Nowak of North Platte, NE, and Kolby and Presley Nowak of Keystone, NE; Two brothers. Steve Huckfeldt of Morell, NE, and Melvin East of Seward, NE; and two sisters, Monia Biehn of Boulder, CO, and LaVaughn (Melvin) Shipman of Yankton, SD.

James (Jimmy) William Legas, 60, formally of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away September 2, 2023 in Fullerton, Nebraska. &nbsp;James was born on September 14, 1962 to Nick and Esther Legas in North Platte.

James attended North Platte Schools and EUS School in North Platte. &nbsp;James was a very special person. He enjoyed books, magazines and loved to watch wrestling along with drinking chocolate malts.

He is survived by two brothers, George Legas, North Platte and Chris (Bobbie) Legas, North Platte; two sisters, Rose Schrotberger, North Platte, and Clara Legas, Fullerton, Nebraska.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Esther Legas; three brothers, Nick, Donald and Jerry; and one special aunt Clara Negley all of North Platte; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James will be missed deeply. &nbsp;He was a loving son and brother.

Leonard Eugene Franzen, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 13, 2023, at Hilltop Estates, in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born November 27, 1927 in Gothenburg, NE, son of M.G. and Helen Franzen.

Leonard grew up in the Gothenburg area and attended Etna School and 81 R schools before graduating from Gothenburg High School. Leonard married Esther Marie Jensen on February 22, 1948 at Gothenburg. She preceded him in death on October 18, 1952. &nbsp;He then married Marye Lou Jensen on May 26, 1953 at Gothenburg. Leonard spent his life farming and ranching in the Gothenburg/Brady area.

Survivors include daughter, Wenda (David) Keiser of Gothenburg; Five Sons, Darwin Franzen of San Antonio, TX; Eldon (Susan) Franzen of North Platte; James (Barbara) Franzen of Gothenburg; Bryce (Melany) Franzen of Aurora; Bryan (Brande) Franzen of Brady; two sisters, Lola Jean Widholm and Lynette (Ed) McPherson, 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Leonard was preceded in death by wives, Esther Marie and Marye Lou, his parents, M.G. and Helen, his brother Leigh and his wife Anne Franzen and brother-in-law Andy Widholm.

Leonard Franzen (1927-2023)

Terrence L. Bechtel, 77, of Brule, passed away September 11, 2023, at his home in Brule, NE.

Terry was born March 26, 1946, at Ogallala, NE, to Orville and Bonnie Jean (Caudy) Hoffman. Bonnie would eventually marry Guy Bechtel, and Guy would adopt Terry and love him as his only son. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1965. Terry also proudly earned the distinction of Eagle Scout before studying business at Chadron State College.

Terry would go on to marry Crystal Ludeman. The couple made their home in Denver and were blessed with two children: Lana and Mark. Terry worked at Wells Fargo Bank before taking a job with United Airlines, where he worked as a flight operations analyst for many years. Following his retirement, Terry moved to Brule to be closer to family.

On October 13, 2013, Terry was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's in Ogallala. On October 22, 2016, he married Geraldine (Grigsby) at St. Paul's. The couple resided at Brule, where Terry served on the Village Board. Terry also enjoyed working at Sapp Brothers for 32 years and driving bus for Ogallala Public Schools for 13 years.

Terry's faith was renewed and deepened later in life with his entry into the church at St. Paul's. It was there that he enjoyed a wonderful sense of family and community, drawing him further into the mysteries of God by experiencing the love and connection of His people. Terry loved going to church and hearing the Word, in addition to being involved in all the activities.

Life is filled with all manner of hills and valleys, but Terry's hope was in the Lord, who provides for and accompanies those who love Him. May he find eternal rest in Him who calms the seas with only His whisper.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Bonnie Bechtel, and other beloved family, Andrew Biel and Beverly Biel.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Brule; daughter, Lana Bechtel; son, Mark (Sherry) Bechtel and their children, Keala and Sydney; sister, Kerri (Lane) Anderson and their children, Hunter (Trisha) Anderson, Lindsey (Tim) Krab; beloved family members, Jim (Misty) Biel and their children, Jamie and Jasmine; Julie (Brad) Johnson and their children, Alyssa and Colton; Twila Biel and her children, Mason and Kailey. Survivors also include his sisters-in-law, Joan (Dale) Clark &amp; Barb (Steve) Woodrum, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

 </figure>Terrence L. Bechtel, 77, of Brule, passed away September 11, 2023, at his home in Brule, NE.Terry was born March 26, 1946, at Ogallala, NE, to Orville and Bonnie Jean (Caudy) Hoffman. Bonnie would eventually marry Guy Bechtel, and Guy would adopt Terry and love him as his only son. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1965. Terry also proudly earned the distinction of Eagle Scout before studying business at Chadron State College.Terry would go on to marry Crystal Ludeman. The couple made their home in Denver and were blessed with two children: Lana and Mark. Terry worked at Wells Fargo Bank before taking a job with United Airlines, where he worked as a flight operations analyst for many years. Following his retirement, Terry moved to Brule to be closer to family.On October 13, 2013, Terry was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's in Ogallala. On October 22, 2016, he married Geraldine (Grigsby) at St. Paul's. The couple resided at Brule, where Terry served on the Village Board. Terry also enjoyed working at Sapp Brothers for 32 years and driving bus for Ogallala Public Schools for 13 years.Terry's faith was renewed and deepened later in life with his entry into the church at St. Paul's. It was there that he enjoyed a wonderful sense of family and community, drawing him further into the mysteries of God by experiencing the love and connection of His people. Terry loved going to church and hearing the Word, in addition to being involved in all the activities.Life is filled with all manner of hills and valleys, but Terry's hope was in the Lord, who provides for and accompanies those who love Him. May he find eternal rest in Him who calms the seas with only His whisper.Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Bonnie Bechtel, and other beloved family, Andrew Biel and Beverly Biel.He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Brule; daughter, Lana Bechtel; son, Mark (Sherry) Bechtel and their children, Keala and Sydney; sister, Kerri (Lane) Anderson and their children, Hunter (Trisha) Anderson, Lindsey (Tim) Krab; beloved family members, Jim (Misty) Biel and their children, Jamie and Jasmine; Julie (Brad) Johnson and their children, Alyssa and Colton; Twila Biel and her children, Mason and Kailey. Terry Bechtel (1946-2023)

Ronald “Ron” E. Hudson, 79, of Shelton, NE died on Monday, September 11, 2023 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.&nbsp;Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the &nbsp;American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating. Burial will take place in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.&nbsp;

Ron was born on March 13, 1944 in Gothenburg, NE to Earl and Gladys (Hite) Hudson. He grew up and received his education from Gothenburg High School, graduating with the class of 1962.&nbsp;

He entered the United States Army on November 16, 1964 and served during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged on August 31, 1968. He was united in marriage to Carol Gronewold on October 16, 1966 in Gothenburg, NE. After which the couple spend two years in Japan while Ron was in the Army before moving back to Nebraska. After his service, Ron attended Kearney State College and received his bachelor’s degree in education.&nbsp;Rons teaching career began in Axtell, where he was a History teacher and helped coach basketball. His first principal job was at Sterling. Then becoming the principal at Fairmont before moving to Shelton where he was the Principal and Athletic Director for many years before retiring in 2000. He was known for flipping a coin to see if kids would get in trouble. He always let the kids pick “Heads or Tails” and still always managed to come out on the winning side.

He was a member of the Shelton American Legion. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to as many of his grandchildren’s events as he could, but most of all he loved being in education. Spending 60-80 hours a week at school between school and various sporting events.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Mark (Heather) Hudson; daughter, Stacey (Pat) Winters; four grandchildren: Layne, Hank, Kade, and Pete; and his brother, Jerry (Joyce) Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Tony and Berniece Gronewold.

Lora Jane Bevington, 77, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at North Platte Care Center.

She was born on April 24, 1946 in Ft. Madison, Iowa the daughter of Loyd R. and Jane A. (Prichett) Bevington.

Lora graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA and attended college in Youngstown, Ohio. &nbsp;She became a cytotechnologist lab pathologist and worked for many years in North Platte. &nbsp;She was a great animal lover, especially her dear rescue greyhounds, and other rescue dog breeds from local shelters. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her beloved pet dogs, Mitzi, Rusty aka “Mooie”, Dasie D. Dog, Morgan Fairpuppy, Shylo, Jack, Shocker, Sparks, MaGoo, Nikki, Morgan, Cassie, Buddy, Taz, Talia, Big Red Ted, and Rock.

She is survived by her brother, Kent (Bobbie) Bevington of Missoula, MT; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Alicia Tschetter Brittenham, Kira Kautz, Karan Erickson, and Robin Fisher; and many other dear friends.

She was preceded by her parents, Loyd and Jane; and by a brother, Gary.

A celebration of Lora’s life will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, where friends may gather from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Lora Jane Bevington (1946-2023)

Ronald Pluard, Sr., of North Platte, passed away at the Ogallala Hospital on September 12, 2023, at age 74.

Ron was born to Fred and Evelyn Pluard on August 21, 1949, in Eureka, CA. &nbsp;He grew up in northern California then enlisted into the U.S. Army following high school. &nbsp;Ron served as a demolition specialist and combat engineer who disarmed bombs in Vietnam. &nbsp;

In 1971, he returned to California after his honorable discharge and got married. &nbsp;Ron married Mardella Cooley and became a father of four. &nbsp;He was a great dad who loved taking his kids places and just being with them.

Ron worked as a welder, an auto mechanic, and was good with electricity; he was basically a jack-of-all trades. &nbsp;He also enjoyed being a scout leader but his favorite thing was being a dad. &nbsp;Ron's priorities in life were: #1 Family, #2 Believed in God, #3 Fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Ron Jr. and Clayton Pluard; his friend, Tracy "Porky" Smithers; and Mardella.

Survivors include Ron's children, Robert Pluard of North Platte and Brandy Pluard of California; stepson, Bryan Eichhorn of Ohio; son-in-law, Billy Glassburn (Wendy) of Ogallala; his siblings, Carol Perry (Wayne) of Massachusetts and Fred Pluard (Joyce) and Rosie Henson (Sam) of California; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Ron Pluard, Sr. (1949-2023)

Byron Gene Woodward, of League City, Texas passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, in Webster, Texas at the age of 65. &nbsp;He was born on March 1, 1958, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Stanley and Racine Woodward.&nbsp;

Byron loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing with his buddies and buying a meal for anyone. He was just as happy staying home, cooking breakfast and visiting with family and friends. We will miss his sense of humor and kindness towards others.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Woodward, and brother, Jason Woodward.

Byron is survived by his adoring wife Melissa, his loving mother Racine, daughter Brynn and husband Dave, son Ryan and wife Val, and son Brent. Also survived by brother Mark and wife Mary, and brother Jeff and wife Denise. Grandchildren: Taylor, Matt, Karly, Landon, Cohen, Jayden, Lily, Ava, great-granddaughter Madilyn and many other loving family and friends.

&nbsp;A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 10:00am at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573 with Reverend Bill Cole presiding.

Byron Woodward (1958-2023)

Arlan Earl Rathe, age 87, of Culbertson, NE passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Arlan was born April 7, 1936 in Culbertson, NE to parents Albert E and Ella M (Alberts) Rathe.&nbsp; He was one of three children who later graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1953.&nbsp;

On October 6, 1957, Arlan married the love of his life, Beverly Ann (Schlager) Rathe in Culbertson, NE. To this union, five children were born.&nbsp;

Arlan was a lifelong farmer who also enjoyed wood and leather working, square dancing and playing cards, especially pinochle. He took great pride in his family and his farm where he was especially fond of his animals.&nbsp; Arlan served as the District #23 School Board President for a number of years and was also active in St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as Treasurer.&nbsp;

Arlan was preceded in death by his parents; and his two sisters, Gladys Skinner and Florence Potthoff.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Beverly Rathe of McCook, NE; children, Robin Haynes of McCook, NE, Ryan (Deb) Rathe of Palisade, NE, Rhonda (Tracey) Refior of McCook, NE, Rachelle Steinhour of Minden, NE and Randal (Erin) Rathe of Ainsworth, NE; fifteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren with two on the way; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.

Arlan E. Rathe (1936-2023)

&nbsp; Phyllis Lucille (Mead) Stinnette was born to Russell and Anna (Hall) Mead on June 12, 1922 in a two-room house SW of Champion, NE. She passed away on September 8, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 101.

She was the second of six children of Russell and Anna Hall Mead. She attended kindergarten through 10th grade at the Champion grade and high school. She and her two brothers and one sister rode horses the 3¼ miles to school when she was in the 6th grade, the only year in which she did not miss a day of school. In 1938 she, along with her Mother and two sisters and one brother, moved to Imperial so she could attend the rest of her high school. In 1939, her Dad and younger brother moved to Imperial. Phyllis graduated with high honors and, after working in a café for a short while, taught school for 5 years in Chase and Dundy Counties.

In 1936 she joined the Presbyterian Church in Champion and then joined the Evangelical Church in Imperial (which later united with the Methodist Church). She was pianist at the Evangelical Church for several years and also taught Sunday School.

On July 20, 1947 she was united in marriage to Francis Stinnette of rural Wauneta (they eloped and were married by a minister in McCook!). They made their home for a short time in Imperial and then moved to a farm east of Imperial. They were blessed with three children: Bing, Kelly, and Becky.

In June of 1958 the family moved to a farm three miles north of where they were and did some custom farming along with their own. Phyllis raised chickens and dressed and sold many, as well as selling eggs directly to Denver. Phyllis took to farrowing out 29 sows and selling the pigs either locally or at McCook (she loved pigs, and one of the proudest moments of her life was when the auctioneer announced that her pigs sold for the most money of any others that day). She enjoyed sewing and made many decorated western shirts for her husband and 2 sons, as well as clothing for herself and the entire family. Her hobbies included ceramics, counted cross stitch, crocheting and knitting many items, some of which she gave to friends. She was also a 4-H Leader for several years.

Due to hard times, Phyllis and Francis had to sell their farm equipment and other personal items in 1970. They moved to Indianola where Francis worked for MIC and Phyllis continued selling pigs and raised a big garden. Her yard was her pride &amp; joy. She also did: Property Reevaluation in Indianola for the County Assessor’s office; worked at a clothing store for several years, and at Stritt Hardware store until it closed in 1987.

Phyllis became a member of the Nebraska Genealogical Society in 1999 and did extensive research on the Mead and Stinnette families. She also cataloged several rural cemeteries in surrounding areas.

She and Francis moved to an acreage west of Indianola in 1978, where she continued to live with Kelly after her husband passed away in 1993. Phyllis always put family ahead of herself. In 1974 she took up quilting, and made 61 quilts along with several wall hangings. Her stitches were always perfect, and she received many purple and blue ribbons at the fair. Phyllis quilted with the Methodist Church ladies in McCook for several years, with all proceeds going to the church. She loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team beginning in 1960 (or earlier), and would listen to them on the transistor radio while building fence or other jobs on the farm. Phyllis was a Huskers fan to the end, and rarely missed watching or listening to a game.

She moved to El Dorado Manor in Trenton in 2009 due to Parkinson’s Disease, and lived there until her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents (Russell &amp; Anna Mead), husband Francis in 1993, an infant brother, as well as three brothers and a sister.

Phyllis graduated with high honors and, after working in a café for a short while, taught school for 5 years in Chase and Dundy Counties.In 1936 she joined the Presbyterian Church in Champion and then joined the Evangelical Church in Imperial (which later united with the Methodist Church). She was pianist at the Evangelical Church for several years and also taught Sunday School.On July 20, 1947 she was united in marriage to Francis Stinnette of rural Wauneta (they eloped and were married by a minister in McCook!). They made their home for a short time in Imperial and then moved to a farm east of Imperial. They were blessed with three children: Bing, Kelly, and Becky.In June of 1958 the family moved to a farm three miles north of where they were and did some custom farming along with their own. Phyllis raised chickens and dressed and sold many, as well as selling eggs directly to Denver. Phyllis took to farrowing out 29 sows and selling the pigs either locally or at McCook (she loved pigs, and one of the proudest moments of her life was when the auctioneer announced that her pigs sold for the most money of any others that day). She enjoyed sewing and made many decorated western shirts for her husband and 2 sons, as well as clothing for herself and the entire family. Her hobbies included ceramics, counted cross stitch, crocheting and knitting many items, some of which she gave to friends. She was also a 4-H Leader for several years.Due to hard times, Phyllis and Francis had to sell their farm equipment and other personal items in 1970. They moved to Indianola where Francis worked for MIC and Phyllis continued selling pigs and raised a big garden. Her yard was her pride &amp; joy. She also did: Property Reevaluation in Indianola for the County Assessor’s office; worked at a clothing store for several years, and at Stritt Hardware store until it closed in 1987.Phyllis became a member of the Nebraska Genealogical Society in 1999 and did extensive research on the Mead and Stinnette families. She also cataloged several rural cemeteries in surrounding areas.She and Francis moved to an acreage west of Indianola in 1978, where she continued to live with Kelly after her husband passed away in 1993. Phyllis always put family ahead of herself. In 1974 she took up quilting, and made 61 quilts along with several wall hangings. Her stitches were always perfect, and she received many purple and blue ribbons at the fair. Phyllis quilted with the Methodist Church ladies in McCook for several years, with all proceeds going to the church. She loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team beginning in 1960 (or earlier), and would listen to them on the transistor radio while building fence or other jobs on the farm. Phyllis was a Huskers fan to the end, and rarely missed watching or listening to a game.She moved to El Dorado Manor in Trenton in 2009 due to Parkinson’s Disease, and lived there until her death.Preceding her in death were her parents (Russell &amp; Anna Mead), husband Francis in 1993, an infant brother, as well as three brothers and a sister.She is survived by her sons, Bing (Carlene), Kelly; daughter, Becky; her sister Carol &amp; (Frank) Medsker of Hastings, many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. (MT) Monday, September 18, 2023 at Imperial Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Loy officiating. Visitation to be held one hour prior. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church of Imperial or the American Heart Association.
