On October 9, 2021, Adah E. Ambler passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 95 years old. A lifelong Nebraskan native, Adah was well-loved and was a pillar of strength for her family. Adah was the mother of four children, grandmother to eight children, great grandmother to sixteen children and great great grandmother to three children. All were proud to call her mom and grandma. Adah was born on March 19, 1926 in Gandy, NE to Troy &amp; Jessie (Reynolds) Philpot. She was united in marriage with Russell J. Ambler on July 12, 1947, in Phillipsburg, KS. Adah retired from Monroe Automotive in 1994 after over 30 years of service and not missing a single day. Anyone who knew Adah knew what an incredible work ethic she had. Adah was an active member of the local VFW for many years, a home maker who enjoyed woodworking and crafts, making beautiful quilts, tending to her garden, and pouring all her love into her family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren often said it wasn’t broken until Grandma couldn’t fix it. Adah was preceded in death by: her husband Russell J. Della was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Orin. She is survived by her brother, Curtis (Betty) Sargent and her son, Larry. Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cozad Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Lorita (“Rete”) Wilva Fuhrer was born the fourth of five children to William and Eva Belva (Hoover) Fuhrer in Davenport, Nebraska on November 26, 1935. &nbsp; The family lived in the country until they moved into Davenport. Rete was baptized at a young age. Rete’s mother died when Rete was 15 years old, and she lost her father 3 years later. Rete graduated from Davenport High School in 1953. She married Herbert Dean Johnson on November 15, 1953. In later years, the couple divorced. They lived in the Edgar area, where she purchased the Edgar Café and ran it until 1956. In 1966, Dean and Rete and their five children moved to a farm near Oshkosh, Nebraska to grow sugar beets. Rete raised, dressed and sold chickens, as well as bushels of green beans from her very large garden. She worked at Johnson’s Café, S &amp; S Café, and Dunn’s Turkey Farm. She was a cleaner at the hospital/nursing home when it was built, until she became the head cook and kitchen supervisor at the Oshkosh Hospital/Nursing Home for several years. In 1978, she purchased the Hamburger Barn/Camper Park on Highway 26 in Oshkosh, which she owned and operated as a family business, with the help of her children and grandchildren (and anyone who married into the family), until 1999. She became known for “Best Burgers Around” as well as her famous fried chicken. By then, she had moved from the home above the Hamburger Barn to a new home built where the camper park had been. She lived there until January of 2020, when she moved to the Regional West Nursing Home due to health issues. After she sold the Hamburger Barn, Rete kept busy working at the daycare, cleaning houses, doing a little catering, and thinking about jumping back into the food business! All she needed was a partner and a place. In 2004, that golden opportunity came along, and she and her oldest daughter, Deanne (Cooper), opened the Korner Kitchen on Main Street in Oshkosh, where the tradition continued with a fast food business and lots of catering. Their plan to keep the business “for just a couple of years” turned into seven, until she decided, with input from her children, that it was time to sell the business. She continued to fry chicken and make salads for people and events from her home. Rete attended the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church, and as soon as the service was over, she was the first one out the door! Rete’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. Christmas was her greatest holiday. Even in her years as a young mother, she worked and saved all she could to ensure her children had a special Christmas, hiding their presents in great hiding places (that they usually found, though they didn’t tell her). She was a hard worker, and still made time to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. People marveled at how many of those grandchildren would fit in her El Camino when she picked them up from school! Rete always made it out to ride on the equipment when her two sons, Gary and Ted, were farming on her land. She looked forward to her family gathering for holiday meals and attending the many outings at the family’s sandpit. Through the winter months, Rete always had a card table set up with a puzzle on it. She liked country western music and could always be found watching westerns! Nearly everyone in Garden County has enjoyed food prepared by Rete. Through the years, she catered for the golf course, Lions and Lioness Club meetings, the local jail, family reunions, funeral dinners, class reunions, alumni banquets, Marshalltown Christmas parties, weddings, rehearsal dinners, a car show, Westco dinners, the Bayard prom, brandings and so many other events. Rete is survived by her five children: Deanne (Lynn) Cooper, Gary (Marie) Johnson, LuCinda Jessen, Ted (MarrLyn) Johnson, all of Oshkosh, and Sherry (Steve) Jobman of Bayard; and her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy &amp; Val Milegar, of Aurora, Colorado. Lorita "Rete" Johnson (1935-2021)

&nbsp; Peter "Todd" Peterson--a beloved father, son, brother, and friend: Born February 8, 1962 in Julesburg, CO to Lloyd C. Peterson and Rosemarie Peterson (Dixon). One of five children, and the only son. Todd was a rambunctious boy who loved anything on two wheels from the time he was young. He grew up on the Peterson farm in Big Springs, Nebraska and attended school there, graduating in 1980. He'd tell stories about freezing winters, raising hogs, inventing the mullet, summers spent in a tractor, and all the times he and his souped-up vehicles ended up in the ditch (among many other anecdotes). Todd married his first wife Denise in Loveland, Colorado, shortly after high school. The pair had two beautiful children, Elijah Daniel and Brianna Rae, who also got a taste of the farm life in Big Springs. Todd didn't just farm---he was also a skilled carpenter, woodworker, welder, and even became an airplane mechanic (until he "accidentally" polished the pitot tube on a plane). Todd met his second wife, Kerri Anne Peterson (List) playing poker with friends in 1997 (he took everybody's money that night) and the two were married in 1999. Their daughter Presley Anne was born that same year. Nobody could claim that Todd wasn't a hard worker. During plentiful times and lean times, no matter what you could find Todd working to provide for his family. "...and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need." 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NASB. In 2003, Todd began driving truck in the oilfield, which was the start of a seventeen-year career in Northern Colorado. He moved up the ranks in his company and was also able to provide a better life for his family. Todd made great sacrifices for those he cared about. That became the number one thing in Todd's life: taking care of others. Behind a tough exterior, Todd was exceedingly generous and always rooted for the underdogs in his life. Even if he knew he'd get burned, Todd would step up and lend a helping hand. He was always one to protect those who need protecting, especially when it came to his nieces (who became his daughters), Marjorie Grace and Shirley Elizabeth. Besides being a motorcycle-riding, Lynyrd Skynyrd-listening, big-hearted, fun-loving man, Todd was also a born-again Christian who had experienced the absolute goodness of God throughout his entire life. Countless times, he was brought to tears, singing, and even shouting for joy in the presence of the Lord. Those were beautiful moments to witness. Todd left a mark on every person who knew him. While we are deeply saddened that he's not with us anymore, we know that we'll be together again in heaven one day. He doesn't have to feel pain, sadness, loneliness, or fear anymore. He is alive in God's presence. Todd is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd C. Peterson, and his son, Elijah Daniel Peterson. Peter "Todd" Peterson (1962-2021)

Harold B. Zimmerman Jr, 56, of Madrid, passed away October 9, 2021, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Harold was born June 29, 1965, at Easton, Maryland, to Harold and Patricia (Moxey) Zimmerman Sr. On July 20, 1986, Harold married Sharon Yost in Wisconsin and their union was blessed with three children, Ryan, Dalton, and Karalee. The family moved to the area in September of 1996, where Harold did a number of things, from driving truck to helping farmers. Harold was preceded in death by his grandparents. Harold B. Zimmerman Jr, 56, of Madrid, passed away October 9, 2021, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Harold was born June 29, 1965, at Easton, Maryland, to Harold and Patricia (Moxey) Zimmerman Sr. On July 20, 1986, Harold married Sharon Yost in Wisconsin and their union was blessed with three children, Ryan, Dalton, and Karalee. The family moved to the area in September of 1996, where Harold did a number of things, from driving truck to helping farmers. Harold was preceded in death by his grandparents. Harold B. Zimmerman, Jr (1965-2021)

Susan Ruth Meyer, 7­­3, passed away ­­­on Thursday, October 7th, 2021, at Centennial Park&nbsp;Retirement Village in North Platte, Nebraska. Susan was born in Ogallala, Nebraska, on December 31, 1947, to Marvin M. and Gayle (Bissell) Meyer.&nbsp; As a child she was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brule, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was a 1966 graduate of Brule High School and received a degree in Special Education as a 1970 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley. Susan spent her entire teaching career in the Corvallis, Oregon, school system beginning as an elementary special education teacher.&nbsp; An appointed transfer to the junior high/high school level garnered her a “Teacher of the Year” award, but her love of teaching remained with the younger students.&nbsp; In the 1990’s she retired from special education teaching and turned her hobby of yoga into a vocation as she taught yoga classes at Benton County Community College.&nbsp; For the last ten years Susan was also a yoga instructor with the Fitness Over Fifty fitness center.&nbsp;&nbsp; Susan continually honed her gourmet cooking skills and successfully developed Susan’s Traveling Cuisine -the business of being a personal chef in the homes of many clients where a week of meals was precooked for their convenience.&nbsp; She was never a risk-taker, but ahead of the times with such an endeavor.&nbsp;&nbsp; Outside of work her love of classical music, the Oregon State University women’s basketball team, animals-especially cats, dogs, and chickens-brought her joy.&nbsp; Her dogs were favored companions in her adult years.&nbsp; Always independent, Susan was able to be avidly involved in watercolor painting lessons, backpacking, travel, movies, concerts, and folk dancing.&nbsp; Though she didn’t write it, she had a fondness for reading, hearing, and discussing poetry; and family members were frequently gifted a book of poetry.&nbsp; Susan found great delight in gardening and the beauty of nature wherever she was.&nbsp; The South Platte River was as fascinating as any mountain or ocean.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed the view of Marys Peak from the window of her home in Corvallis, Oregon. Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Gayle Meyer. Lisa Creasman (1952-2021)

&nbsp; James Luther Greer was born May 12, 1931, to Roy Earl and Eva (Spraker) Greer at Mitchell. Shortly after his birth the family moved to North Platte. He was a graduate of the North Platte High School, Class of 1949. He started working for the Union Pacific Railroad in August 1950. Jim served in the Army during the Korean War from January 1952 to January 1954. He was in Artillery. After serving In the Army he returned to Union Pacific as a equipment operator and equipment mechanic. On June 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rosalie B. Olson. Jim retired from Union Pacific in May 1996. Jim and Rosalie lived in a railroad bunk car, traveling with railroad gang work from Missouri to Washington state, for approximately five years. They eventually settled in Columbus for a short time, then moved to Grand Island. Jim served on the Grand Island City Council for several years. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Greer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jeanette Greer of Lincoln and Jeff and Melody Greer of Grand Island; one daughter, Diana Greer of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren, Samantha Greer of Lincoln, Reagan Greer of Grand Island, and Jade Greer of Nova Scotia, Canada; and one brother, Bob Greer of Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Janice E. Lichtenwalter, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on November 7, 1942 in Lexington, Nebraska to Clifford and Laura (Voss) Wilcox. She attended public schools in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1961. Janice was united in marriage to Wayne Lichtenwalter on November 23, 1963 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, this union was blessed with three sons: Mark, Michael and Matt. For Janice, keeping busy was an understatement. She worked for Darr Fertilizer for over twenty years, she then worked at Fairbanks International before retiring. She didn’t stay retired for long; Janice worked at Jackson Hewitt doing income taxes for a few years before she started J &amp; W Tax Service. She would own and operate her services until her health forced her to retire. The Red Cross was very important to Janice and she was a faithful donor of blood. She donated many units of blood which brought a lifetime of many gallons. Her hobbies included stained glass, miniature doll houses, reading books, flying with her husband Wayne, who was a pilot, going on road trips with her sisters and friends. Janice enjoyed attending the Balloon Festival in Arizona, and tending her flowers in her yard. She was multi-talented in sewing and doing upholstery on Antique Cars. She also enjoyed watching Star Trek, Doctor Who, and other Sci-Fi Television shows. In her younger years, the family would take many camping trips to the mountains in Colorado in their 1947 Buick and 1935 Indian Camper. Janice E. Lichtenwalter (1942-2021)

Edna “Joan” Smith, 82, of North Platte, passed away September 30, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; She was born September 19, 1939, to Paul E. and Emma (Fischer) Larsen, in Dickens, Nebraska. Joan graduated from North Platte High School then started working for Gibson’s in North Platte, as office manager.&nbsp; She continued working when Gibson’s sold to True Value until she retired.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Theodore (Bud) Knox in 1958.&nbsp; To this union a son Theodore (Ted) Knox was born in October of 1959.&nbsp; Then Joan married Raymond (Ray) Smith on May 27, 1978. This union was joined with Ray’s 5 children, Jim, Karen, Judy, Chris and Jackie.&nbsp; Joan enjoyed watching wild life from her kitchen table, especially the cardinals and squirrels.&nbsp; She liked visiting with her friends and family.&nbsp; She tended large gardens and enjoyed canning.&nbsp; As well, she made homemade jerky and shared it with any- and everyone.&nbsp; She was the mom who would go to the father-daughter banquet when dad wasn’t able to attend.&nbsp; She truly enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren.&nbsp; She was the glue of the family.&nbsp; Our mother loved us no matter if we’d been good or bad.&nbsp; Loving us unconditionally, if you were one of her own children or an in-law, she loved us all the same.&nbsp; Joan was preceded in death by her husband Ray; infant granddaughter, Melissa; sisters, Pauline Matthews, Joy Alread, Phyllis Serino; and a brother, Roy Larsen.&nbsp; She is survived by her children, Ted (Dee) Knox, Jim (Lori) Smith, Karen (Ron) Hepler, Judy (Tom) Hanna, Chris Gifford, Jackie (Jeff) Kelley; and sister, Shirley (Robert) Schneider; 13 grandchildren, Shelby Knox, J.R. Smith, Amber Craig, Jason Hepler, Jacob Hepler, Melinda Girdner, Tim Timmerman, Josh Kelley, Willow Kelley, Tony Willson and Doug Todd; and 12 great-grandchildren. This union was joined with Ray’s 5 children, Jim, Karen, Judy, Chris and Jackie.&nbsp; Joan enjoyed watching wild life from her kitchen table, especially the cardinals and squirrels.&nbsp; She liked visiting with her friends and family.&nbsp; She tended large gardens and enjoyed canning.&nbsp; As well, she made homemade jerky and shared it with any- and everyone.&nbsp; She was the mom who would go to the father-daughter banquet when dad wasn’t able to attend.&nbsp; She truly enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren.&nbsp; She was the glue of the family.&nbsp; Our mother loved us no matter if we’d been good or bad.&nbsp; Loving us unconditionally, if you were one of her own children or an in-law, she loved us all the same.&nbsp; Joan was preceded in death by her husband Ray; infant granddaughter, Melissa; sisters, Pauline Matthews, Joy Alread, Phyllis Serino; and a brother, Roy Larsen.&nbsp; She is survived by her children, Ted (Dee) Knox, Jim (Lori) Smith, Karen (Ron) Hepler, Judy (Tom) Hanna, Chris Gifford, Jackie (Jeff) Kelley; and sister, Shirley (Robert) Schneider; 13 grandchildren, Shelby Knox, J.R. Smith, Amber Craig, Jason Hepler, Jacob Hepler, Melinda Girdner, Tim Timmerman, Josh Kelley, Willow Kelley, Tony Willson and Doug Todd; and 12 great-grandchildren. Muriel O. Miller, age 90, of Lincoln, NE passed away Monday, October 5, 2021 in Lincoln. Muriel was born September 25, 1931 in Culbertson, NE to Axel and Ellen S. (Jacobs) Olson.&nbsp; She graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1949.&nbsp; Muriel then went on to attend Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO. Muriel married Edwin Miller on May 1, 1953 in McCook.&nbsp; The couple became the proud parents of three children.&nbsp; Along with her husband, Edwin, Muriel owned and operated Miller’s Home Decorating from 1977 to 1989.&nbsp; Muriel also volunteered her time by delivering meals through the Meals on Wheels Program.&nbsp; She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Miller; and her brother, Don D. (Donna) Olson. Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Judy Miller of Lincoln, Mike Miller of Traverse City, MI and Jana (Mike) Halverson, also of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Sarah Halverson, McKenzie Miller and Maddi Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Betty L. Potthoff, age 86, of Palisade, NE passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook.&nbsp; Betty was born April 29, 1935 in Imperial, NE to parents John A. and Bessie E. (Brown) Lawless.&nbsp; She was one of seven siblings who grew up on a farm north of Palisade, graduating from Palisade High School with the Class of 1953.&nbsp;&nbsp; Betty married Franklin J. Potthoff on April 22, 1956 at the Palisade United Methodist Church where Betty remained an active member her entire life. Frank and Betty spent their entire lives in Palisade. Together they raised two sons and two daughters.&nbsp; After her graduation, she worked for Southwest Public Power District until June of 1957.&nbsp; She stayed home to raise her family and then began her career as the bookkeeper at &nbsp;Palisade Public School in 1966.&nbsp; She worked at the school for 21 years until she retired in September 1987.&nbsp; She then worked for the Pioneer Community Credit Union for several years. &nbsp;&nbsp;She was a member of the Friendly Neighbor's Extension Club, the Community Service Club, the Pioneer Days Committee and the United Methodist Women.&nbsp;&nbsp;Frank and Betty were investors in the Pioneer Café and volunteered their time to help. Betty was an avid sports fan and never missed a chance to see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren compete.&nbsp; She loved reading and spent many hours sharing favorites with her grands. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin Potthoff in 2010; and six siblings, Eileen (George) Long, Connie (Les) Hovorka, John (Betty) Lawless, JoAnn (Chet) Mucklow, Bill (Martha) Lawless and Doris (Bob) Phillips. Lorimer, age 78, of McCook, NE, passed away at Highland Park on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.&nbsp; Jack was born in McCook, NE, July 23, 1943, to Elmer and Virginia (Troxall) Lorimer.&nbsp; He attended school in McCook.&nbsp; On October 18, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sandra Shaver in Atwood, Kansas.&nbsp; The couple made their home in McCook, NE&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In 1983, the family moved to North Platte, NE.&nbsp; &nbsp;Jack, Sandra and one daughter moved back to McCook in 1991. There, Jack ran his own tree trimming service.&nbsp; Jack enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and especially growing tomatoes. Jack liked to hunt, fish and watch westerns on TV.&nbsp; He, Sandra and their kids traveled to South Dakota and Mt. Michael Waltman (1959-2021)

Gary M. Frye, age 86, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior Jesus and was greeted by his wife Kaye on the morning of Monday, October 4th, 2021. Gary was welcomed into the world by Edward &amp; Jessie (Thompson) Frye and brothers Ted &amp; Bruce, at the sod house on their ranch north of Arthur, NE. His grade school years were spent riding a horse to school with Doris Wilson. They shared great memories of those experiences.&nbsp; Gary attended Arthur High School where he played basketball and excelled in academics, eventually graduating with honors. He’d spend his mornings at school and afternoons helping on the family ranch. During his Sophomore year, another classmate, Kaye Jensen, cooked a meal for him in home ec. It would be his last, first meal made for him by her, he knew he couldn’t let her get away. Gary enlisted in the army on January 3rd,1957 and served until April 2, 1959. He and Kaye were married on his 10 day leave, December 23, 1957 at the Arthur Baptist Church. They spent those remaining “army years” in Manhattan, KS. There they formed life-long friends, Tom &amp; Barb Barlean and Floyd &amp; Elaine Bailey. These couples enjoyed several visits to each other’s home states over the years and embarked on other traveling adventures together.&nbsp; Gary &amp; Kaye purchased their home ranch 26 miles north of Ashby in 1959. The trail roads were a challenge to move trucks of cattle and household items, Dad often told the story that a neighbor stopped in to greet them to the area and they had put all their shop tools &amp; equipment in the living room.&nbsp; On one of the trips to Gordon they noticed a new building being constructed. Next trip to town confirmed it was the future home for Pleasant Point Community Church. For many years, Gary served as a board member and it became his forever church home. Gary and Kaye hosted countless missionaries on furlough and forged lifelong friendships with those friends. In the early 60’s, Pleasant Point Church was working with a new TV station, KDUH out of Hay Springs. He was part of a quartet called Streams of Living Water, singing with Willis Orr, Eb Strasburger and Norman Hamilton; with Willis Mouttet providing the message. In 1960, their first child Jecca Rene was born 5 weeks early, disrupting the hay season that year.&nbsp; In November of 1963 their son Gregory Jay was born. Gary worked diligently to improve the ranch he purchased. He put in two circle irrigation systems and acres and acres of trees. Gary was also instrumental to the Cherry County Commission for Zoning.&nbsp; In later years, he and Kaye spent many years completing a large hay contract, with the help of their grandkids, south of Merriman at the Churn Ranch. He always enjoyed a clean cut field and rows of beautiful bales.&nbsp; Gary &amp; Kaye greatly enjoyed all their grandkids. Great times were spent fishing, gardening and playing games, his favorites being Connect Four &amp; Hearts. In the high school years, they drove all over the Panhandle, following football, volleyball and basketball games.&nbsp; Gary moved from his ranch to the Gordon Villa in 2015 and so enjoyed the residents and staff. He grew tomatoes for all his neighbors and friends and he always had time for a visit. He especially loved visits from his grandkids and great grandkids; they were the pride &amp; joy of his life. Gary loved travel and enjoyed their 25th anniversary trip to Mazatlán. He also enjoyed visiting Branson, Missouri; Florida, and Alaska and even traveled by train to California with friends Harold and Gail Glassgow.&nbsp; These two dear friends also enjoyed many years of the Black Hills Stock Show together.&nbsp; He loved flying and was always quick to share how many trips (at least 7) he’d made to Georgia to visit Tessa &amp; Natosha. His greatest adventure though was fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling to Scotland with Tessa. He got to explore Edinburgh, stand on the mountain tops, admire ancient castles, travel through Isle of Skye &amp; pet some hairy coos. He was fascinated by Scotland because of his family heritage and origins there and the stories told by a missionary they’d hosted decades prior. The trip ended with an 8-hour tour of New York City and a helicopter tour where he got to take in the city from the sky. He was in awe of the tall, tall buildings and getting to stand in Times Square- where Good Morning America was broadcast from. From Braves games, to antique stores or an afternoon at the sale barn; he never met a stranger and would strike up conversations everywhere he went, wearing his well-loved cowboy hat that seemed to draw people in.&nbsp; Gary was preceded in death by his wife Kaye of 59.5 years, brothers Ted, Bruce and Richard, parents, Edward and Jessie, and an infant grandson, Wrangler Jay Frye.&nbsp;&nbsp; He is survived by daughter Jecca (Cash) Ostrander of Gordon, NE and son Greg (Jenna) Frye of Ashby, NE. Gary was very proud of his 28 grandkids; Tessa (Robert) Swarthout of Atlanta, GA, Stetson (Courtney) Ostrander of Gordon, NE, Natosha (Casey) Voss of AZ, Sterling (Allie) Ostrander of Box Elder, SD, Steele Ostrander of Worland, WY, Wrustler (Anna) Frye of Jamestown, CO, Shianna (Kade) Blair of Arthur, NE, Tashonna (James) Ingalls, of Reva, SD, Riyatta (Colt) Gray, of Van Tassell, WY, Jennaya (Levi) Hartmann of of Oregon, Wrangler (Jacki) Frye of Williston, ND, Shakeeya (Caleb) Lewis of Lisco, NE, Duwrango Frye of Jamestown, CO, Tiyonna Frye of Lisco, NE, Onnikka, Javonna and Lattigo Frye of Ashby, NE.&nbsp; His 26 Great Grandkids; Tenley and Jensen Ostrander, Denalli, Grayett, DallieJo, TallaKaye, Ryka and Evitt Voss, Mesa, Cedar and Jackson Frye, Kale, Koven, Kwincey and Kember Blair, Tyren, Laysa, Carver, Baby Boy Ingalls due 2022, Ryder and Oaklynn Frye and Tavaeya Lewis,&nbsp; 2 more great-granddaughters and 3 step-great-grandchildren. The trail roads were a challenge to move trucks of cattle and household items, Dad often told the story that a neighbor stopped in to greet them to the area and they had put all their shop tools &amp; equipment in the living room.&nbsp; On one of the trips to Gordon they noticed a new building being constructed. Next trip to town confirmed it was the future home for Pleasant Point Community Church. For many years, Gary served as a board member and it became his forever church home. Gary and Kaye hosted countless missionaries on furlough and forged lifelong friendships with those friends. In the early 60’s, Pleasant Point Church was working with a new TV station, KDUH out of Hay Springs. He was part of a quartet called Streams of Living Water, singing with Willis Orr, Eb Strasburger and Norman Hamilton; with Willis Mouttet providing the message. In 1960, their first child Jecca Rene was born 5 weeks early, disrupting the hay season that year.&nbsp; In November of 1963 their son Gregory Jay was born. Gary worked diligently to improve the ranch he purchased. He put in two circle irrigation systems and acres and acres of trees. Gary was also instrumental to the Cherry County Commission for Zoning.&nbsp; In later years, he and Kaye spent many years completing a large hay contract, with the help of their grandkids, south of Merriman at the Churn Ranch. He always enjoyed a clean cut field and rows of beautiful bales.&nbsp; Gary &amp; Kaye greatly enjoyed all their grandkids. Great times were spent fishing, gardening and playing games, his favorites being Connect Four &amp; Hearts. In the high school years, they drove all over the Panhandle, following football, volleyball and basketball games.&nbsp; Gary moved from his ranch to the Gordon Villa in 2015 and so enjoyed the residents and staff. He grew tomatoes for all his neighbors and friends and he always had time for a visit. He especially loved visits from his grandkids and great grandkids; they were the pride &amp; joy of his life. Gary loved travel and enjoyed their 25th anniversary trip to Mazatlán. He also enjoyed visiting Branson, Missouri; Florida, and Alaska and even traveled by train to California with friends Harold and Gail Glassgow.&nbsp; These two dear friends also enjoyed many years of the Black Hills Stock Show together.&nbsp; He loved flying and was always quick to share how many trips (at least 7) he’d made to Georgia to visit Tessa &amp; Natosha. His greatest adventure though was fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling to Scotland with Tessa. He got to explore Edinburgh, stand on the mountain tops, admire ancient castles, travel through Isle of Skye &amp; pet some hairy coos. He was fascinated by Scotland because of his family heritage and origins there and the stories told by a missionary they’d hosted decades prior. The trip ended with an 8-hour tour of New York City and a helicopter tour where he got to take in the city from the sky. He was in awe of the tall, tall buildings and getting to stand in Times Square- where Good Morning America was broadcast from. From Braves games, to antique stores or an afternoon at the sale barn; he never met a stranger and would strike up conversations everywhere he went, wearing his well-loved cowboy hat that seemed to draw people in.&nbsp; Gary was preceded in death by his wife Kaye of 59.5 years, brothers Ted, Bruce and Richard, parents, Edward and Jessie, and an infant grandson, Wrangler Jay Frye.&nbsp;&nbsp; He is survived by daughter Jecca (Cash) Ostrander of Gordon, NE and son Greg (Jenna) Frye of Ashby, NE. Gary was very proud of his 28 grandkids; Tessa (Robert) Swarthout of Atlanta, GA, Stetson (Courtney) Ostrander of Gordon, NE, Natosha (Casey) Voss of AZ, Sterling (Allie) Ostrander of Box Elder, SD, Steele Ostrander of Worland, WY, Wrustler (Anna) Frye of Jamestown, CO, Shianna (Kade) Blair of Arthur, NE, Tashonna (James) Ingalls, of Reva, SD, Riyatta (Colt) Gray, of Van Tassell, WY, Jennaya (Levi) Hartmann of of Oregon, Wrangler (Jacki) Frye of Williston, ND, Shakeeya (Caleb) Lewis of Lisco, NE, Duwrango Frye of Jamestown, CO, Tiyonna Frye of Lisco, NE, Onnikka, Javonna and Lattigo Frye of Ashby, NE.&nbsp; His 26 Great Grandkids; Tenley and Jensen Ostrander, Denalli, Grayett, DallieJo, TallaKaye, Ryka and Evitt Voss, Mesa, Cedar and Jackson Frye, Kale, Koven, Kwincey and Kember Blair, Tyren, Laysa, Carver, Baby Boy Ingalls due 2022, Ryder and Oaklynn Frye and Tavaeya Lewis,&nbsp; 2 more great-granddaughters and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Gary Merle Frye (1935-2021)

Janet “Sue” (Curry) Ford, 75, of Ogallala, Ne&nbsp; passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital at Kearney, NE. Sue was born on May 4, 1946 to Robert Guthrie and Meda Lucile (Norgren) Curry, at the Lewellen Ne. Hospital.&nbsp; Sue grew up on the family farm/ranch, northeast of Ogallala, Ne.&nbsp; Sue attended country school District #18 for kindergarten to the 8th grade and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1964. During Sue’s early years and teens, she loved riding horses, and her favorites were Skeeter and Tator.&nbsp; She was active in 4-H at the fairs and rodeos. Sue was Perkins County Fair and Rodeo Queen in 1961 and she was Keith County Fair and Rodeo Queen in 1962. Sue was active in ballet and tap, where she performed in many dance revues and recitals during 1950’s.&nbsp; On December 27th, 1964, Sue married Milton R Ford, of Big Springs, Ne., at Ogallala. Sue and Mick lived at Denver, Co., Downey, CA., and Salt Lake City, UT., before returning to Ogallala in May of 1968. Daughter Siri Sue Ford was happily welcomed into their family on February 24, 1970 at Ogallala, Ne. Sue was a homemaker, helped her parents on the family farm/ranch, worked many years as a manager at Ogallala’s McDonalds and Ogallala’s Kildare Lumber.&nbsp; Because family lives matter, Sue retired in 2002. Sue began a new journey in life where she devoted her full attention to her mom and dad, her husband, daughter Siri, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Sue is survived by husband Mick, daughter Siri (Ken) Reed, Grandchildren Stephanie Steiner, Morgan Reed, and Diana Reed, and Great-Grandchildren Dallas, Aubree Lucile, Macksen, and Walker Lee, and by her brother Robert K. John C. Kaspar Jr. 42, of North Platte, passed away on October 5th,2021. John was born January 21st, 1979, in North Platte, Ne, to John (Jack) and Wanda Kaspar. John was a wonderful surprise born later in their lives, so he got to grow up with his nieces and nephews. He attended school at North Platte High School. He was a very good bowler, and he always valued the time that he spent and the friends that he made at the bowling alley. He was always a hard worker, even from a young age. One of his first jobs was mowing lawns. He started working for Lincoln County Department of Roads while still in high school. He later returned and worked there for the last 13 years. His strong work ethic, and providing for his family, were his highest priorities. On October 26, 2007, he married Laura Kramer. They dated less than 4 months, and decided to elope because they could not wait to start their life together.&nbsp; They were blessed with 3 children, Jay, Luke and Bella. His children meant more to him than anything else in the world. John's faith was important to him, and their church home was Berean Church. John volunteered on the Security Team for the Children's Area, because he always wanted everyone's children to be safe. John loved spending time with his family more than anything else. He loved taking them all fishing. He also loved his pets, several of them being kittens that he rescued himself. God blessed him with the ability to be able to fix just about anything, so he often worked on all kinds of projects around his home and others'. He also enjoyed working with wood carving, wood burning, and other crafts. He loved doing these things with Laura and the kids.&nbsp; John will always be remembered for his friendliness and orneriness. He was an equal-opportunity teaser. He was always willing to lend a hand and help those who needed it. John fit so well into Laura's family and made her family his own. Laura could not have asked for a more amazing husband and dad. His family is comforted by the fact that he is waiting in heaven for them to join him some day. He leaves behind Laura, Jay, Luke and Bella; parents Jack (Barb) Kaspar; sister Sue (Ray) Isaac and their daughters Randie (Bill) Westman and Lindsey Isaac (Josh Hawley); sister Shelley (Bud) Parks and their son Joshua (Josie)Watts and daughter Stephanie (Shawn) Noyce; numerous great-nieces and nephews; father-in-law Bill (Penny) Kramer, mother-in-law Judy Kramer, sister-in-law Lisa Kramer; sister-in-law Julie (Wyatt) Smith; brother-in-law Paul (Kerri) Kramer, and numerous nieces and nephews. James Leroy “Jim” Woodcock, 54, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away October 4, 2021, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska.&nbsp; Jim was born February 12, 1967 to Gary and Geraldine (Fahnholz) Woodcock in North Platte.&nbsp; Jim attended North Platte Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1986.&nbsp; He worked at Motel 6, Mentzer’s Oil, Union Pacific Railroad, Walmart and then worked with his family at Fahnholz Septic.&nbsp; On May 13, 1995, Jim married Tara Dimmitt in North Platte.&nbsp; The couple purchased Fahnholz Septic and continue to operate this family business.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren.&nbsp; He loved tinkering with things.&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim is survived by his wife Tara of North Platte; grandmother, Leona Fahnholz, North Platte; 3 children, Brandon Watson, Andrew (Ashley) Woodcock, and Erica Woodcock, all of North Platte; grandchildren, Camden Watson, Rylan Watson, Lilith Woodcock and 3 additional babies on the way; sister, Brenda Dimmitt, North Platte; along with numerous other family members and many friends. James "Jim" Leroy Woodcock (1967-2021)

Joyce&nbsp;Boggs, age 90, of Hershey, Nebraska, died at the Ogallala Community Hospital on October 5, 2021. Joyce was born to Cecil and Margaret Stewart on July 16, 1931, at North Platte where she grew up. After graduating from NPHS she moved to Scottsbluff where she received her teaching certificate and taught for a period of time. On December 21, 1955, Joyce married Leland Boggs at Scottsbluff and they made their home in the Hershey area. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for various business in Hershey and North Platte, milked cows at McConnell Dairy in Hershey, and worked in the kitchen at the Sutherland Nursing Home until retiring. She loved horses and her family, especially her grandkids. Joyce, along with her sister, Leota, was a founding member of the Velvet Spurs Riding Club, and remained an honorary member for life. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce is survived by her children, Alan (Cindy) Boggs, Greg (Michelle) Boggs and Scott Boggs, all of Hershey, Kenneth (Pat) Boggs, of North Platte and Cecelia Harshfield, of Sutherland; grandchildren, Joe Boggs, Matt (Jenny) Boggs, Bruce (Samantha) Boggs, Brooke Boggs, Rebecca Harshfield, Joey Boggs, Curtis Boggs and Danielle (Douglas) Lannigan; great-grandchildren, Hope, Brock, Braidyn, Bailey, Gentry, Trace, Austin, Delainey, Daren and Stetson; her sister, Leota (Bud) Kleewein, and brother, Frank Stewart, of North Platte; as well as other family. Carolyn (France) Peterson (1943-2021)

Jamie LaRae (Rogers) Mann, 53, of Brady, Nebraska, died October 4, 2021 in Brady, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born February 2, 1968 in Denver, CO to Jim and Paula (Porter) Rogers. At a very young age, Jamie came to know the love of Jesus and accepted Him as her personal Savior. She spent a lot of her childhood vacationing to Jeffery Lake, where she met the love of her life, Jim. Jamie Rogers married James (Jimmy) Mann in Gothenburg on May 28, 1989. To this union three children were born: Amanda, Kolton and Brett. Jamie always enjoyed going on family adventures, whether taking trips to Shriner’s Hospital, mini camping outings, or just being together at Jeffery Lake. For most of her life, she poured her life into raising her children and cheered them on during their different life stages. In the last few years, Jamie and Jim were enjoying their time as empty nesters (kind of, because they always had people over) at their home at Jeffery Lake. She helped plant The Crossing Fellowship Church and led its Guest Services Ministry for most of the Church's existence. Anyone and everyone who entered the doors of the Life Center was greeted by her safe and welcoming presence. If she missed someone, she would track them down to make sure they felt seen and loved. Jamie had many jobs in her life, including providing in-home childcare, being a life group leader, mentoring in youth groups, working as a paraeducator at the school, receptionist for the physical therapist at the hospital and then as an office manager for Hiebner Chiropractic &amp; New Hope Counseling. No matter what role she took, she always looked for opportunities to share the love of Jesus and to let someone to know she was a safe person to be around. Of all the positions she’d held in life, Jamie’s most treasured role was as “Jamma.” She loved teaching her grandkids all of her fun and silly sayings and games. She enjoyed taking them on boat rides and trips to the park, reading to them, singing and dancing with them. It was never boring when Jamma was around. There wasn’t a day that her grandchildren didn’t hear how much they were loved by her either in-person or video chat. Jamie no doubt had a gift of having an easy-to-talk-to spirit. She couldn’t leave any thrift store jaunt, grocery run, garage sale, vacation trip, or anywhere for that matter without finding a stranger to share the love of Jesus with. People would just share their hearts with her as if they knew her. She loved many and she loved deeply. We could write books upon books of stories of people she impacted and influenced. Her legacy will be one of love, acceptance, and meeting people where they were just like Jesus. Survivors include her husband James (Jimmy) of Brady, daughter, Amanda (Micah) Dority of Gothenburg, two sons, Kolton (Rachel) Mann of Bellevue, and Brett (Kayla) Mann of Gothenburg; four grandchildren, Lexi Dority, Eli Dority,&nbsp; Audri Dority, and Marlee Mann;&nbsp; three sisters, Cyndi (Scott) Foresman of Kearney, Pam (Scott) Gallas CO, Sheri (Keith) Wagner CO; two brothers-in-law, Tagg (Lisa) Mann of Brady, Willy (Beth) Mann of Milford; sister in law, Lisa (Dennis) Kentfield of Millard;&nbsp; Father and mother-in-law, Dave and Jody Mann of Brady, cherished nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many close friends and “adopted” kids and family. Jamie LaRae (Rogers) Mann (1968-2021)

Marjean Grant, 85, of Ansley died Monday, October 4th,2021, at Brookestone View in Broken Bow. Marjean Claire (Welte) Grant was born September 2, 1936, in Ansley, Nebraska, to Eugene and Margaret (Anderson) Welte. Marjean attended school at Ansley Public Schools. After high school, Marjean attended Kearney State Teacher’s College where she earned her degree in English and an endorsement in coaching. She student taught in Hastings and taught 1.5 years at Hayes Center. While teaching in Hayes Center, she met Richard (Rich) Grant, and the two of them were married in Ansley on June 6, 1959. They resided in Aurora, York, and Spalding and in 1966 they moved to Ansley. To this union they were blessed with five children: Listy, Karmela, Todd, Donelle, and Stacey, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Marjean taught English at Ansley Public Schools for 31 years and also coached volleyball. Along with Dale Sampy, they initiated the elementary PE program. After retirement in 1997, she enjoyed volunteering in the first-grade classroom helping with morning exercises and enjoyed reading children’s books to the students. During the summer months, when she wasn’t teaching, she loved riding in the truck with Rich all over the country. Marjean also enjoyed dancing, crafting, crossword puzzles, and going to garage sales as well as attending her kids and grandkids school activities. She and Rich also loved their Husker Volleyball, football, and each of their dogs. Marjean was preceded in death by her husband Richard, father, both mothers, grandparents, mother and father in-laws, one brother, and an infant child. She is survived by her five children, Listy (Alan) Schmidt of Kearney, Karmela (Mark) Shafer, Todd (Marilyn) Grant, Donelle (Tim) Gestwite, and Stacey (Jim) Marsh all of Ansley. Sister’s Dollene (Ray) Muth’s of Goehner, Dorene Hoffman of McCook, and numerous grandkids and great grandkids. Funeral services will be Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Marjean Grant (1936-2021)

Janice (Jan) Glenda (Thompson) Widger was born July 29, 1942, in rural Chase County, Wauneta, Nebraska, to Glenn J. and Barbara E. (Sparks) Thompson and departed this life on October 4, 2021, at her home in Imperial surrounded by her family. Janice was baptized with her children in the Methodist Church, Imperial, Nebraska, on September 18, 1966. Jan attended Hillcrest District #30 Elementary Country School and graduated from Wauneta High School with the class of 1960. After high school, she attended Central Business College in Denver, Colorado and graduated in August 1961. At the time of her mother’s death on September 16, 1961, she returned to the family farm north of Wauneta and helped her dad and younger brother, Glenn Junior. Jan loved the farm. Jan married Jackie D. Collins in February 1963 and to this union two children were born: Kirk William and Rhonda Bernice. She was remarried in 1973 to Marlin E. Widger and three children joined their household: Mari Jo, Ward and Larry. Jan worked most of her life in the health profession. She enjoyed working with the elderly and was a nurse’s aide at the Imperial Manor for a number of years. Jan was also employed as a dental assistant, X-ray tech, medical transcriptionist, and the last ten years before she retired in 2007, she was employed at Chase County Schools. Jan enjoyed traveling, yard work, reading and watching Nebraska football with old friends. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Barbara Thompson; her son Kirk; brothers Jimmie Glenn and Richard Harry; and her son-in-law Thomas Michael Wolfe. Survivors include: daughter, Rhonda (Collins) Wolfe of Climax Springs, MO; twin sister, Janette Carmin and husband Richard of Imperial, NE; brother, Glenn J. Thompson and wife Bonnie of Arvada, CO; sister-in-laws: Patty Thompson of Imperial, NE, and Sharon K. Linda Cook (1964-2021)

Charles Dean Henderson, Sr., 87, of North Platte, passed away September 30, 2021 in Burwell, Nebraska at Community Memorial Health Center.&nbsp; He was born June 5, 1934 to Clyde and Viola (Eckerley) Henderson of Marysville, Kansas.&nbsp; Charles' childhood was spent in Kansas. &nbsp;He served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1956.&nbsp; On August 10, 1957, he married LaVay E. (Hergenroder) in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1988, Charles was transferred to North Platte with the Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician. &nbsp;He retired after 47 years of service.&nbsp; Charles was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, he enjoyed his guns, horses and loved to watch western movies.&nbsp; Charles is survived by his children; Chuck (Jeanie) Henderson Jr., Omaha,&nbsp; Terri Jensen, North Platte, John (Shelly) Henderson, Ashland, Nebraska and Tony (Jennifer) Henderson, North Platte; grandchildren, Becky Henderson, Valerie (Jessica) Henderson, David (Sara Meloccaro) Henderson, Patrick (Chelsea) Jensen, Jonathan (fiancé, Amber) Henderson, Jessica (Kevin) Grimm, Kendall (Kaleb) King, Klair (Noah) Anderson, and Anthony Martinez; great-grandchildren, Layla Gail, LaVay Jensen, Caiden Meloccaro, Kaisen King, Krayten Anderson, Ainsley Grimm, and Rylie Henderson; brother, Ted Henderson, and other family members and friends.  </figure>Charles Dean Henderson, Sr., 87, of North Platte, passed away September 30, 2021 in Burwell, Nebraska at Community Memorial Health Center.&nbsp; He was born June 5, 1934 to Clyde and Viola (Eckerley) Henderson of Marysville, Kansas.&nbsp; Charles' childhood was spent in Kansas. &nbsp;He served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1956.&nbsp; On August 10, 1957, he married LaVay E. (Hergenroder) in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1988, Charles was transferred to North Platte with the Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician. &nbsp;He retired after 47 years of service.&nbsp; Charles was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, he enjoyed his guns, horses and loved to watch western movies.&nbsp; Charles is survived by his children; Chuck (Jeanie) Henderson Jr., Omaha,&nbsp; Terri Jensen, North Platte, John (Shelly) Henderson, Ashland, Nebraska and Tony (Jennifer) Henderson, North Platte; grandchildren, Becky Henderson, Valerie (Jessica) Henderson, David (Sara Meloccaro) Henderson, Patrick (Chelsea) Jensen, Jonathan (fiancé, Amber) Henderson, Jessica (Kevin) Grimm, Kendall (Kaleb) King, Klair (Noah) Anderson, and Anthony Martinez; great-grandchildren, Layla Gail, LaVay Jensen, Caiden Meloccaro, Kaisen King, Krayten Anderson, Ainsley Grimm, and Rylie Henderson; brother, Ted Henderson, and other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Viola Henderson; his wife LaVay Henderson; son, Steve Henderson; and sister LouAnn Oehm.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.&nbsp; Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 15, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Military Honors.&nbsp; Book signing will be 9 – 5, Thursday, October 14.
