Parker E. Martinson, age 78 of Arthur, Nebraska passed away on February 17, 2021, at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. Parker was born July 7, 1942, at Haxtun, Colorado, to John and Esther (Newbanks) Martinson. He attended school in Colorado before going to work in ranching. Ranch work would eventually bring Parker to Nebraska for a time before he moved back to Colorado to work on the feed elevators at Paoli. On April 22, 1961, Parker married Sharon Kay Wilson, and their union was blessed with two sons, Glenn and Bruce. The couple moved to Tucson, AZ, where Parker worked in copper mining and trucking before working for a ready-mix outfit driving a mixing truck. The family bought a farm in Montrose, Colorado which brought them to live in the area for thirty-five years, intermittently back and forth from Tucson. Eventually, Parker went to work in precious metal mining, which he enjoyed for several years before working at XL Drilling as a supervisor over several drilling rigs. Ever the entrepreneur, Parker left XL and purchased some excavating equipment, owning and operating Martinson Backhoe Service. In the early 2000s, the couple moved to Arthur, Nebraska, to be closer to family. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, his parents, and a brother, John II. Survivors include his sons, Glenn Martinson (Anita McArthur) of Wascum, TX; Bruce (Renee) Martinson of Pembroke, NH; four grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and good friends. William "Bill" Fleischer, age 84, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 21, 2021 at Gothenburg Health.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born January 27, 1937 in Gothenburg, NE, son of William Ernest and Elna (Franzen) Fleischer.

Bill grew up on the family farm north of Gothenburg, and attended New Hope, District 153 for his elementary days and then attended and graduated from high school in Gothenburg.

Bill married Marlene King in Central City, NE on February 26, 1961. They were married for almost 60 years.&nbsp;

Bill enjoyed all kinds of sports, and also enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. He always had a garden that he loved to share with family and friends.&nbsp; Bill was also known for his ability to make homemade jellies and his famous fudge. Most of all, Bill loved his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending his time studying the word of the Lord.&nbsp; He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran church where he served on the church council and was very involved and active in the church.&nbsp; Bill never met a stranger, he had the ability to talk to anyone and carry on a conversation as if they were life long friends.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Gothenburg; two daughters, Janet (Marion) Douglass of Grand Island, NE, Becky (Scott) Simants of Gothenburg, NE; two sons, William (Traci) Fleischer III of Cozad, NE and Wade (Jennifer) Fleischer of Ayr, NE; 14 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Roine Ecklund of Gothenburg, NE, Elnora "Tip" (Arlan) Ronnekamp of Gothenburg, NE; sister-in-law Charlotte Burruss of Clarks, NE; brother-in-law Wayne King of Lady Lake, FL; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.&nbsp;

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Elna, and brother-in-laws William Ballmer, Norris Ecklund, and Jay R Burruss.

William "Bill" Fleischer  (1937-2021)

Garneta Junell Bauerle was the oldest of three children born to Charles Leon and Cora Leona (Glasgow) Kimberling. She was born June 26, 1925, at the Kimberling Ranch southwest of Champion. Garneta passed away peacefully in hospice on Feb. 20, 2021, at the Imperial Manor. Garneta attended Crete Grade School about a mile from home. She attended Chase County High School, graduating when she was just 16 in 1942. Following high school, Garneta went to business college in Hastings, followed by studying at Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, where she graduated as an RN in 1946. She first met her future husband, Irvin Bauerle, in band at Chase County High School. They were married on April 13, 1947, when he finished military service. Garneta and Irvin lived near Champion for a few years before moving into the farmhouse on the hill in 1956. Together they raised six children: Mary Lynn, Marcia Ann, Marla Kaye, William (Bill), Michael (Mike) and Margaret. In her late 40s, she developed an autoimmune condition and was given six months to live. During this time, she began working on what became “Country Cooking”—the Bauerle cookbook—which was later featured in an article in Family Circle magazine. In addition to raising six children, Garneta was an active member of the Champion and Imperial communities. She was a founding member of POMPOMS, active in the Champion Women’s Club, was an election official and Cancer Society volunteer. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, where she was active in UMW, attended Bible studies, taught Sunday school, mentored confirmands, quilted with the peacemakers, sang in the choir and was part of the restoration of the stained glass present in the church today. Garneta also worked with the veterans’ auxiliary, the hospital auxiliary and was a Boy Scout den mother. She worked day shifts at the clinic and night shifts at the hospital. Her skills also turned her into a country nurse, seeing patients at her home who couldn’t make it into town. Garneta also dedicated time to the food pantry and local 4-H clubs, where she did numerous baking demonstrations. Family was very important to Garneta. Her six children blessed her with 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She made a personalized quilt for each of her grandkids when they graduated high school. Other hobbies and interests included painting, puzzles, arrowhead hunting, journaling, genealogy and music. She will be remembered as a positive and selfless woman who never gave handshakes; only hugs. Garneta was able to remain at the farm with Irvin up until her time in hospice thanks to the outstanding help of caregivers Kala Holmes, Dawn Weber and Mary Ann Eaglin. Garneta is preceded in death by her parents; sister Oneta Silvester and Bill Silvester; and sister-in-law Betty Kimberling. Garneta J. Bauerle (1925-2021)

Dale William Haller, age 77, of Merna, NE passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Kearney, NE at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Dale was born October 14, 1943 at Litchfield, NE to Leo Edward and Carrie (Obermiller) Haller. Dale grew up in Litchfield, graduating with the class of 1961. He was Baptized at the Christian Church in Litchfield at a young age.

On August 5, 1962, Dale was united in marriage to Kathryn Mooney at the Christian Church. Three children Kimberly Kay, Keri Jo, and Scott Dale were born to this union. They made their home in Ravenna, NE where Dale was employed at Ravenna Grain Company.&nbsp; &nbsp;Dale and family moved to Merna in 1971 where he worked for Farmers Coop Grain Company as general manager for 33 years.&nbsp; He retired in 2004. Dale was the past director of Willow Island Central Non-Stock Coop, Ravenna and Merna Fire Department, and a member of the Merna United Methodist Church.

Dale enjoyed his many Merna coffee buddies, he has not been able to attend since COVID hit. Some memories about Dale include grilling steaks for all his nieces, nephews, and grandkids “Juicy for Kelley Jo”. &nbsp;Dale was the “High Kicker” at the hot tub party with grandchild Trev and buying old Lincoln cars for toooo much money. He was a great tomato farmer. Dale was tough on the outside but was a soft, caring, and sharing grandpa.&nbsp;

Dale William Haller  (1943-2021)

Thomas Ingram, age 80, passed away December 22, 2020 in Houston, Texas after an illness. He showed great fortitude and overcame many health obstacles always remaining optimistic and determined to get the most out of life. 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy Ingram and a brother, James Lee of Cozad, Nebraska. 

Tom is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patsy of Katy, Texas; son Timothy; grandsons James and Jeffrey Ingram of Katy, Texas; daughter, Kathryn and son-in-law, Chad Donnelly; granddaughters, Samantha and Allison Donnelly of Magnolia, Texas. Brothers, Douglas, wife, Mary of Cozad, Nebraska; Richard, wife, Carol of Greer, South Carolina. 

Tom was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his family. 

Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery on March 18, 2021

Thomas Ingram  (age 80)

Marion Jeanne Henderson departed from this world, Tuesday, February 18, 2021 at the age of 80 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Jeanne was born January 7, 1941 to William and Viola (White) Kotschwar in Farnam, Nebraska. She was the youngest of thirteen children.

Jean was united in marriage to Ivan Jerrold Henderson on June 26, 1959. Three children were blessed to the marriage; Terri, Todd and Troy.

She lived a very full life as a wonderfully devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. She was a committed mother first and foremost. She loved and treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She worked hard instilling strong morals and values in her children that served them well.

She was a very gentle soul that easily made friends wherever she went. While she will be remembered by some for her revered culinary skills, keeper of an immaculate home, accomplished gardener of flowers and vegetables, seamstress, secretary, avid Husker fan, she will be remembered by most for her generosity, selflessness, thoughtfulness and warmth. She was completely beautiful inside and out.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Terri (Ben) Brinck of Burlington, Iowa, Todd (Summer) Henderson of Mesa, Arizona, Troy (Cindy) of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandson, Jace Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa; siblings, Alice Fickenscher of Surprise, Arizona, Mabel Conklin of Sterling, Illinois; sister-in-law, Muriel Kotschwar of Elwood, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Gladys Thrasher, Bettye Cross, Viola Iburg and Maxine Kotschwar; brothers; Clyde Kotschwar, Leon Kotschwar, Anton Kotschwar; and infants Stanley and Robert.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Face coverings will be required.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating. Marion Jeanne Henderson  (1941-2021)

Delores Mae (Skraback)&nbsp;Gohl, age 89, of McCook, NE passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.&nbsp;

Delores was born January 5, 1932 in Max, NE to parents Carl and Doretta (Agena)&nbsp;Skraback.  Delores attended country school at District #55 for eight years and graduated from Culbertson High School with the Class of 1949. She worked at Eat a Bit Café in Culbertson while attending classes, working nights and weekends.&nbsp; After graduation, she worked at Great Drug Store and Moffitt’s Café.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On December 30, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Harold Arvene Gohl.  To this union four children were born: Teresa,&nbsp;DeLynn, DeWayne and Debra.  The family made their home on a farm near Palisade, Nebraska. While she did love farm life, including taking care of baby calves and small pigs, she did not care for&nbsp;milking&nbsp;cows.&nbsp;After Harold retired, he and Delores moved to Culbertson, Nebraska. &nbsp;

Delores was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, painting mailboxes, embroidery and collecting angel&nbsp;figurines.  Delores worked as a waitress at Cook's Cafe and as a custodian for Culbertson High School for seventeen years.&nbsp;

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; daughter, Teresa; and two brothers,&nbsp;Kenneth&nbsp;and Harvey&nbsp;Skraback.  &nbsp;

Those left to celebrate her life include her sons,&nbsp;DeLynn&nbsp;Gohl of Elsie, NE and DeWayne (Terri) Gohl of Kearney, NE; daughter, Debra Gohl of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren, Tim, Lori, Shaina, Megan and Michael; as well as nine great grandchildren, Kierstyn, Nyla, Eli, Cameron, Ryleigh, Charlie, Devin, Sariah and Logan.&nbsp;

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Nebraska.

June Donnelly  (1925-2021)

Annice Mae Weidner of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away February 16, 2021, at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was 96 years old. Annice was born May 23, 1924 in Lancaster County, Nebraska at the home of her parents east of Kramer, Nebraska. She was the fifth child of six children born to Fred and Katie (Schlichtemeier) Kattau and the last remaining grandchild of Franz and Kathrina Schlichtemeier. She was baptized on June 8, 1924 at her parent’s home and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church, Kramer, Nebraska. She attended St. John Parochial School (District #72) all eight years, graduating in 1938.

She was married to Herman C. Weidner on April 6, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church, Kramer. They set up housekeeping on a farm southwest of Culbertson and farmed their entire life. They were blessed with two children.

Annice took an active role in their farming operation. She worked side by side with Herman planting crops and tending the cattle. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors. It was always a happy day when the wild turkeys returned for their summer visit. Before glaucoma robbed her of her eyesight, she enjoyed watching the birds come to the bird feeder. She kept a meticulous yard with beautiful flowers and grew a big garden. During the winter months she enjoyed appliqueing quilts and embroidery work. She made two sequin/bead calendars every year for 30 years. She also enjoyed growing African violets.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman on July 29, 2014; parents, Fred and Katie Kattau; brothers, Freddie, Raymond, and Dewayne Kattau; sisters, Wilhelmina Kattau, LaVerne (Elmer) Wendelin; brothers-in-law, Carl A. (Blanche) Weidner, Frank Weidner; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Herbert) Ketelsen.

Annice is survived by daughter, Marilyn Weidner and son, Ron Weidner; sisters-in-law, LaVerna “Kate” Kattau, sister-in-law, Olga (Frederick) Weidner, nieces, Diane Gropp, Carleen Andersen, Denise Slama, and Deb Ourada; nephews, Bill Weidner, Russell Weidner, Dennis Kattau, Doug Kattau.

Annice Mae Weidner  (1924-2021)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta Junell Bauerle was the oldest of three children born to Charles Leon and Cora Leona (Glasgow) Kimberling. She was born June 26, 1925, at the Kimberling Ranch southwest of Champion, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta passed away peacefully in hospice on Feb. 20, 2021, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta attended Crete Grade School about a mile from home. She attended Chase County High School, graduating when she was just 16 in 1942. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Following high school, Garneta went to business college in Hastings, Nebraska followed by studying at Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado where she graduated as an RN in 1946. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She first met her future husband, Irvin Bauerle, in band at Chase County High School. They were married on April 13, 1947, when he finished military service. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta and Irvin lived near Champion for a few years before moving into the farmhouse on the hill in 1956. Together they raised six children: Mary Lynn, Marcia Ann, Marla Kaye, William (Bill), Michael (Mike) and Margaret. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In her late 40s, she developed an autoimmune condition and was given six months to live. During this time, she began working on what became “Country Cooking”—the Bauerle cookbook—which was later featured in an article in Family Circle magazine. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In addition to raising six children, Garneta was an active member of the Champion and Imperial communities.&nbsp; She was a founding member of POMPOMS, active in the Champion Women’s Club, was an election official and Cancer Society volunteer. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, where she was active in UMW, attended Bible studies, taught Sunday school, mentored confirmands, quilted with the peacemakers, sang in the choir and was part of the restoration of the stained glass present in the church today. Garneta also worked with the veterans’ auxiliary, the hospital auxiliary and was a Boy Scout den mother. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She worked day shifts at the clinic and night shifts at the hospital. Her skills also turned her into a country nurse, seeing patients at her home who couldn’t make it into town. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta also dedicated time to the food pantry and local 4-H clubs, where she did numerous baking demonstrations. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Family was very important to Garneta. Her six children blessed her with 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta Junell Bauerle was the oldest of three children born to Charles Leon and Cora Leona (Glasgow) Kimberling. She was born June 26, 1925, at the Kimberling Ranch southwest of Champion, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta passed away peacefully in hospice on Feb. 20, 2021, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta attended Crete Grade School about a mile from home. She attended Chase County High School, graduating when she was just 16 in 1942. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Following high school, Garneta went to business college in Hastings, Nebraska followed by studying at Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado where she graduated as an RN in 1946. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She first met her future husband, Irvin Bauerle, in band at Chase County High School. They were married on April 13, 1947, when he finished military service. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta and Irvin lived near Champion for a few years before moving into the farmhouse on the hill in 1956. Together they raised six children: Mary Lynn, Marcia Ann, Marla Kaye, William (Bill), Michael (Mike) and Margaret. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In her late 40s, she developed an autoimmune condition and was given six months to live. During this time, she began working on what became “Country Cooking”—the Bauerle cookbook—which was later featured in an article in Family Circle magazine. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In addition to raising six children, Garneta was an active member of the Champion and Imperial communities.&nbsp; She was a founding member of POMPOMS, active in the Champion Women’s Club, was an election official and Cancer Society volunteer. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, where she was active in UMW, attended Bible studies, taught Sunday school, mentored confirmands, quilted with the peacemakers, sang in the choir and was part of the restoration of the stained glass present in the church today. Garneta also worked with the veterans’ auxiliary, the hospital auxiliary and was a Boy Scout den mother. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She worked day shifts at the clinic and night shifts at the hospital. Her skills also turned her into a country nurse, seeing patients at her home who couldn’t make it into town. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta also dedicated time to the food pantry and local 4-H clubs, where she did numerous baking demonstrations. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Family was very important to Garneta. Her six children blessed her with 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She made a personalized quilt for each of her grandkids when they graduated high school. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Other hobbies and interests included painting, puzzles, arrowhead hunting, journaling, genealogy and music. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She will be remembered as a positive and selfless woman who never gave handshakes; only hugs. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta was able to remain at the farm with Irvin up until her time in hospice thanks to the outstanding help of caregivers Kala Holmes, Dawn Weber and Mary Ann Eaglin. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Garneta is preceded in death by her parents; sister Oneta Silvester and Bill Silvester; and sister-in-law Betty Kimberling. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She is survived by husband Irvin; brother Cleon Kimberling of Fort Collins, Colorado; children Mary Lynn (Brian) Horst of North Platte, Nebraska; Marcia Ann (Jim) Lindau of Axtell, Nebraska; Marla Kaye (Terry) Hill of Danville, Illinois; William (Marcia) Bauerle of Imperial, Nebraska; Michael (Jill) Bauerle of Imperial, Nebraska; and Margaret (Jeff) Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Brock (Lisa) Lindau of Blair, Nebraska; Carrie (Marc) Regier of Henderson, Nebraska; Brandon (Lisa) Lindau of Seward, Nebraska; Brett (Marissa) Lindau of Grand Junction, Colorado; Courtney (Dale) Hemker of Danville, Illinois; Jeremy (Nagehan) Hill of Saint Charles, Missouri; Laura Lynn Horst of Lincoln, Nebraska; Maika (Scott) Leibbrandt of Imperial, Nebraska; Megan (Kevin) Kelley of Imperial, Nebraska; Lucas Bauerle of Clovis, New Mexico; Andrew Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; Quinn Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; Anna Bauerle of Lincoln, Nebraska, Emma Bauerle of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jack Bauerle of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Bennett Bauerle of Crete, Nebraska; 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning, February 27, 2021, 10:30 A.M., at the First United Methodist Church of Imperial, Nebraska with Pastor Debra Copple officiating. Garneta Junell Bauerle  (1925-2021)

Theresa M. “Teri” Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2021, at her home, with family by her side.

Teri was born on June 19, 1945, at Baltimore, Maryland to John J. and Helen R. Garrick. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska until moving to North Platte at the age of twelve. During her teen years, she attended St. Patrick’s school and worked for her father at Johnny’s Cafe. She was united in marriage to Bill Kummer on August 24, 1962, in Taos, New Mexico. The couple then made their home in North Platte. Teri spent many years raising her four children before returning to school and graduating in 1995. Teri was employed as a Registered Nurse at Great Plains Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2005.

She was known for her love for the Lord, and served as a prayer warrior and a spiritual advisor to her children, grandchildren and several other individuals in her life. You could always count on her for an encouraging word and a shoulder to lean on. She shared a special bond and friendship with her youngest daughter, Lisa. Teri spent many hours attending her grandchildren’s games and activities. She attended Harvest Christian Church and participated in various ministries and Bible studies during her time. She was the cornerstone for her immediate and extended family and will be sorely missed by all.

Teri is survived by her husband, Bill Kummer, Sr of North Platte, Nebraska; children, Billy, Jr (Carla) Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska, Brenda (Gary) Brooks of North Platte, Nebraska, Debra (Smoke) Cornelius of Cozad, Nebraska,&nbsp; and Lisa Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Austin Brooks (Sarah Ziegler), Jack Cornelius, Kylin Brooks (Brandon Cue), Molly Cornelius, Shayla Kummer, Hannah Kummer, Kaleigh Kummer and Abigail Cornelius; twin sister, Jerry Gustin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sisters; Patricia (Paul) Kaminiski of Omaha, NE, Susan (Bob) Ohlson of Fort Collins, CO, brother; Donald (Pam) Garrick of North Platte, NE; as well as several nieces nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Garrick; her brothers, John Garrick Jr, David Garrick, and Mark Garrick; sister-in-law, Sherry Bryant; and her brother-in-law, Dusty Gustin.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Harvest Christian Fellowship in North Platte, Nebrasa with the Reverend Jeremy Rinke officiating, followed by the burial at Floral Lawns Cemetery near North Platte. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with family receiving friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics or Harvest Christian Church.

Tomasita “Tommie” Reyes, age 81, of Hershey, NE, passed away on February 19, 2021 at her home.

She was born September 22, 1939 in Lyons, KS to Modesto and Angela Perez.&nbsp;&nbsp; As a child her family lived in various locations in Kansas, but she grew up in Hershey, NE where her parents settled with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Tommie married Don Reyes in 1961 in Ogallala, NE. The couple moved to Hershey and she worked at the Hershey Truck Stop for many years.

She will always be remembered for her amazing cooking and putting on the Hershey Aztec Basketball Tournament for many years. She never knew a stranger, made friends wherever she went and everyone will always remember her wonderful hugs. Tommie was avid Nebraska Cornhusker Fan.

Survivors include her husband Don of Hershey, NE; children, Debbie (Dennis) Lindsay of Topeka, KS, Donna Fuentes (Jack Meyerhoeffer) of North Platte, NE, Derek Reyes of Memphis, TN, Delores (Richard) Chadwick of Sutherland, NE, Victor Reyes of Lincoln, NE; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cruz Vargas of Wichita, KS, Jay Vargas of Omaha, NE, Ray (Shortie) Vargas of Topeka, KS, Jennie Cuellar of Rosco, TX, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Harris E. "Luke" Kreiling, age 76, passed away February 16, 2021, at his home west of Big Springs, Nebraska. Luke was born January 18, 1945, in Minatare, Nebraska to Charles Hubert and Zada Bernice (Van Winkle) Kreiling. He lived in Minatare through high school. Luke married Ruth Pauline Woolsey on October 20, 1963, and their union was blessed with three daughters, Zada, Charla, and Daughn. Luke began his career as a long-haul truck driver in 1963. He delivered coast to coast, border to border. Over his career, he hauled to all 48 contiguous states and many places in Mexico and Canada. He logged approximately 5 million miles with only one accident. After retiring and the passing of Ruth, his true love and partner of 46 years, he began working with Sauers Farms, learning to run farm equipment and work cattle. Luke was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, and two nephews. Survivors include his daughters: Zada and Michael Sauers of Big Springs, NE, Charla and Deorman Stout of Broadwater, NE and Daughn Kreiling of Arvada, CO; grandchildren: Amanda Mathis, John and Chelsea Sauers, Jennifer Sauers, Heather and Ryan Holman, Brett Brown, Denise and Tyson Meininger, David Brown, Patrick Teppert, Gray Norval, Spencer Norval, Chandler Norval; and soon to be, eight great-grandchildren; his sister Karren Reed of Gering, NE; and numerous old and dear friends. Harris E. "Luke" Kreiling  (1945-2021)

June Wescott, age 93, passed away February 11, 2021 of natural causes at home where she lived with her daughter in Colorado Springs, Colorado. June was born in Brewster, Nebraska on June 20, 1927. She was one of nine children born to Edward and Anna (Motyka) Woodward. She married Francis Wescott and they made their home just north of Brewster where their children, Rozan and Kevin, were raised. June was a native of the Nebraska Sandhills and she was proud to be as strong as these hills. She survived many health issues in later years that knocked her down and yet she came up strong as ever – even growing her famed garden mostly on her own in 2013 and 2014.

She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in January 2016. She made friends quickly and thrived.

Junk Jaunting in Nebraska every year was an event she looked forward to and enjoyed greatly. Her grandchildren, their spouses and her great-grandchildren were the lights of her life.

She loved finding Church on the Ranch as her new church home to attend every Sunday. She also loved Husker football and volleyball.

June was preceded in death by her husband Francis; and all but one of her siblings.

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Jo) Woodward; children Rozan Anderson and Kevin Wescott; grandchildren Nikki Myers, Brittany Godsell, Heather Costley, Rachel Cox, Adrien Youngblood, Grant Anderson, Ashley Morrison, Cameron Anderson and Ezra Wescott; great-grandchildren Andrew, Alison, Thomas, Daniel, Alaina and Dakota Godsell, Elizabeth and Stephen Myers, Ian, Xavier and Marcel Anderson of Majorca, Spain, Everly Anderson, Rebekah, Rachel, Zeke and Jacob Costley, Kyle and Kallan Cox, Lillian, Brandt, and Zadie Youngblood and Wells Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends and relatives including every hospice caregiver who tended to her needs during the last few months. A memorial service will possibly be held in the summer of 2021.

She survived many health issues in later years that knocked her down and yet she came up strong as ever – even growing her famed garden mostly on her own in 2013 and 2014.She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in January 2016. She made friends quickly and thrived.Junk Jaunting in Nebraska every year was an event she looked forward to and enjoyed greatly. Her grandchildren, their spouses and her great-grandchildren were the lights of her life.She loved finding Church on the Ranch as her new church home to attend every Sunday. She also loved Husker football and volleyball.June was preceded in death by her husband Francis; and all but one of her siblings.She is survived by her brother, Bob (Jo) Woodward; children Rozan Anderson and Kevin Wescott; grandchildren Nikki Myers, Brittany Godsell, Heather Costley, Rachel Cox, Adrien Youngblood, Grant Anderson, Ashley Morrison, Cameron Anderson and Ezra Wescott; great-grandchildren Andrew, Alison, Thomas, Daniel, Alaina and Dakota Godsell, Elizabeth and Stephen Myers, Ian, Xavier and Marcel Anderson of Majorca, Spain, Everly Anderson, Rebekah, Rachel, Zeke and Jacob Costley, Kyle and Kallan Cox, Lillian, Brandt, and Zadie Youngblood and Wells Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends and relatives including every hospice caregiver who tended to her needs during the last few months. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ann L. Bluel, age 82, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 17, 2021 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ann L. Bluel, was one of three children born to Walter and Anna Cappel.&nbsp; She was born July 10, 1938 in Hastings, NE. In her younger years, the&nbsp; family moved several times before settling in North Platte, Nebraska. Ann was confirmed in the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. She then went on to work for Northwestern Bell Co. as a switch operator. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Ann married Henry Janssen, December 15, 1957. They settled north of Gothenburg, NE and together they had five children. She helped in managing the farm business and was active in W.I.F.E. (Women Involved in Farm Economics). She stayed busy raising 5 children and all of their extra curricular activities.&nbsp; She was committed to her faith and was a long time active member of Zion Lutheran Church. There she taught Sunday School, Confirmation, Sponsors of Luther League, and served in Lutheran Church Women's Organization.&nbsp; In the mid 1980's, Ann went back to work at the Homestead Restaurant, KK&nbsp; Appliance&nbsp; before working&nbsp; at Skyview&nbsp; and retiring. In 1989, the couple moved into Gothenburg. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;After Henry's passing she remarried Gary Bluel on February 27, 1999. The couple resided in Gothenburg where they enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and volunteering at the Senior Center. She dearly loved her family, especially the grand and great grandchildren, they would bring her joy. Agnes Sigrid "Aggie" Petersen  (1928-2021)

Kent William Sierks, age 55 of Dunning, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home in Dunning.

Kent William Sierks, of Dunning, was born October 12, 1965 to Tom and Doris (Saner) Sierks in Broken Bow, Nebraska. He attended grade school in Dunning and Halsey and graduated from Dunning High School in 1983. While in high school he excelled in football, wrestling, track, and FFA. Kent grew up on his family ranch east of Dunning, working in the hayfield, raising cattle (including milking Rosie the cow) and living by the moto “working smarter, not harder”.

He attended Milford Tech School in Milford, NE, earning an associate of applied science degree in Nondestructive Testing Technology. After college, he moved to Denver, CO and went to work for Martin Marietta, testing cranes. He then moved to Topeka, KS to work for Independent Testing Labs as a Quality Inspector. While living in Topeka, KS in 1989, he met Sandra Dee.

On April 17, 1990, Kent married the love of his life at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV.

He then moved to Wichita, KS, working for Boeing Aircraft Company as a Quality Inspector. In 1992, Kent and Sandra moved back to Dunning, NE, where they owned and operated Duffs Bar.

On March 19, 1997, Kent and Sandra were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Frankie Aline. In 1997, they moved back to Wichita, where he went back to work for Boeing Aircraft Company. In 1999, they moved back to the family ranch where he continued ranching until the time of his death.

Kent was a member of the Dunning Volunteer Fire Department where he held many offices including president and PR man, organizing many fundraisers. He was briefly a member of the Sandhills Public Schoolboard. Kent was generous with his time, volunteering for many community activities and events.

He loved to travel with his friends and family, shoot trap, golf, fish, play pool, and he really loved gambling (craps and blackjack were a couple of his favorites). He also enjoyed playing Pinocle with his friends Dan Sheets, Timmy Christen, and John Seeley. Kent’s greatest joy was his wife, daughter, and a huge crowd of family and friends.

Kent was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. He continued to live life to the fullest and if you ever asked him if he had a good day, his response would be “every day is a good day”.

A special thank you to Chuck and his family for all they did to help Kent fulfil his dreams to the very end. Not only was he a great hired man, but he was also a great friend.

Kent is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra Dee; his daughter, Frankie Aline (Joey Johnson); mother, Doris; brother, Monte (Cris); sister, LaTonne (Jim Davis); brother, Tim (Annette); mother-in-law, Nadean Maiden; and special relationship with cousins Mark and Judy Mulligan and family.

Kent is preceded in death by his father, Tom; and father-in-law, Frank Maiden.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Sandhills High School Gymnasium in Dunning, NE. The funeral will be livestreamed at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.govierbrothers.com/">www.govierbrothers.com</a>.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Dunning Cemetery in Dunning, NE.

Kent William Sierks  (1965-2021)

Galen Frances Morris, age 73, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Lexington Regional Health Center.

Galen was born Sunday, July 6, 1947, at 2:45 a.m. in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Woodrow Wilson Morris and Sadie Marie (Rowe) Morris, as the 6th&nbsp;of 7 sons. The family was noted in the Omaha World-Herald’s “Believe it or not” column after his younger brother was born because each son was born on a different day of the week.

The family moved to Lexington, NE on May 13, 1951. Galen attended Morton Elementary, and Lexington Jr. &amp; Sr. High Schools, graduating in 1966. At least one of his school years, he was honored with Perfect Attendance. He excelled in athletics, being a starter for the football team as both offensive and defensive end. Galen was also a starter on Lexington’s State ranked basketball team, which won the Holiday Tournament in 1965-66, and were SWC Champs in 1965. Galen also played city league basketball and was on the championship city league fast-pitch softball team. Galen was on the “Cameo teams that played against the Husker champion football team in basketball and against the Harlem Travelers Team. 

Galen began working as a young boy at Hodges Neighborhood Market, stocking shelves and making deliveries. He mowed lawns, cleared snow, detasseled corn, hoed beans, and worked at a turkey farm. During his high school years, he worked at Platte Valley Packing, and for National Construction putting in curb and gutter. He began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1970, eight of his years as Post Master in Bertrand, Nebraska. He was instrumental in establishing the 911 address system for rural patrons in Dawson County. In 2001, he received the State of Nebraska Benjamin Franklin Community Newspaper and Postal Partnership Award. In February, 2009, Galen was honored for 40 years of Government Service. He took no sick leave during that time until he suffered three strokes that ended his career.

On December 30, 1966, Galen married his high school sweetheart, Joan Millikan. Their union was blessed with one son, Lanny Dean Morris. That same year Galen was inducted in to the U.S. Army, serving his Country for two years active duty, and as a reservist for four years. His training was at Fort Bliss, near El Paso, TX. He declined Officer Candidate training, not wanting to be career military, but did become an instructor. In October, 1967, his orders sent him to Vietnam with the 1st&nbsp;Infantry Division, Ready &amp; Reactionary Force, engaging in the TET Offensive. On R&amp;R he celebrated his 21st&nbsp;birthday in Hawaii with his wife, before returning to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Galen was honored to be chosen for the first Dawson County Hero Flight to Washington, DC in 2016. He was also given a Quilt of Valor that same year at this 50th&nbsp;class reunion. He cherished the responsibility of putting flags at military graves in Greenwood Cemetery, and the solemn duty of flag folding and presentation to families of veteran’s at their grave site.

Galen also served his church as a Deacon, Teacher, Youth Leader, Camp Counselor, Greeter, and Usher. He was a Gideon Member, A Lion’s Club member, serving in many offices including president. He was a member of the Lexington Board of Education for 10 years. He had been a member of the VFW, was Pershing PTA president, Campus Life Advisor, on the Boy Scout committee, Community Education committee, youth league athletic coach. Galen suggested the sites for the current Library and the Grand Generation Center. He was the recipient of the 1970 Lexington Sertoma Club’s Service to Mankind Award.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents, W. Wilson and Sadie Morris; brothers, Oliver (Sonny), Elden, Rex, and Morris Lee Morris; and a nephew, Elden Morris, Jr.

Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 54 years, Joan, of Lexington, Nebraska; son, Lanny and wife Ladina Morris; grandsons, Caleb and Jonah Morris, all of Grand Island; step-granddaughter, Miranda and her two daughters of Hastings, Nebraska; brothers, Leo Morris of Murdock, Kansas, and Terry Morris of Elwood, Nebraska; 8 nephews, 5 nieces, and several sisters-in-law.

Galen was a blessing, a faithful worker, wrapped in God’s love and care, and encouraged by many. He enjoyed the beauty of creation, hunting, fishing, travel and coffee time with friends. He was delivered and now has been returned to his sender!

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Nathan Rhea, officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, NE.

Galen Frances Morris  (1947-2021)

My name is Linda "Lynn" Marie (Cooper) Kolbet.&nbsp; I was born November 14, 1947 in Imperial, Nebraska to James (Bill) and Anna Cooper. I was raised in Hayes County, Nebraska and graduated in 1966 from Hayes County High School and went on to graduate from Central Business College in Denver, Colorado. I found peace on February 17, 2021 surrounded by love and warmth.

On a blind date, I met and fell in love with Roger Kolbet; the love of my life. We married on August 30, 1969 at St Patricks Church in McCook, Nebraska. We made our first home in McCook, and after a year or so, we moved to Culbertson, Nebraska, where we made our forever home. In 1984, I became the Village Clerk in Culbertson, where I loved working for 30 years until I retired. I also managed Westside Manor and helped my husband with farming life.

My husband and I were blessed with 3 children; a daughter Camilla Kaye, and 2 sons Aaron Phillip and Jeramy James.&nbsp; I tried and was successful to teach my children to be fair, to love, to be happy, and to be genuinely good humans. They are my light. There are too many favorite family memories to share, but hosting the 4th of July for many years with my family and many friends to celebrate Independence Day is at the top of my list. My goal in life was simple: enjoy every single moment given to you and lucky triple 7's.

My most cherished blessings are my amazing grandkids; Coleton and wife Jordan, Kailee, Karsyn and my great-great-grandson, Case They have brought me more joy and happiness than I thought possible. I am so very proud of them.

I was blessed enough to enjoy many cruises throughout the years I enjoyed camping, and of course playing and trying my luck at the slots! I so loved deeply my many friends and family that were a part of my adventures.

There were countless ways I tried to improve our cherished little community. I was one of many to start the Culbertson Baseball Association, with volunteering for the beginning and progression of the baseball program. I was one of the original volunteers for the Culbertson Pantry and the Christmas boxes. I found a need in the community for special education for our son and was successful in achieving a special education program for him and others. I was also a part of numerous fund-raising events from my kids school to other community events.

I was so blessed to have an amazing 51 years with the love of my life, Roger. You are and always have been my rock. You have been there for me through thick, through thin, good and bad, and as always the better. For these reasons and many more I am forever grateful.

My spirit and love is carried and passed on through my husband, Roger; daughter Camilia and husband Gregg; sons, Aaron and wife Tammy, and Jeramy; through my grandkids Coleton and wife Jordan, Kailee, and Karsyn; and great-grandson, Case; my sister, Carol and brother, Monte, and my many brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

For this rollercoaster of a ride called life, I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of the ride in the ups and downs. Remember to give love, be patient, be kind, and of course laugh. What an amazing and blessed ride it was. I love you more.

Pauline Marie Hart, age 76, of Ogallala, Nebraska passed away, Saturday, January 23, 2021.&nbsp;

Pauline was born May 22, 1944 to Verne and Lorna (Cushing ) Conger in Melbeta, Nebraska and attended school in Chadron, Nebraska.&nbsp;

In 1960 she married Carl Serres in Chadron, NE. Four children were born to this union.&nbsp; In the Spring of 1973 she married Ronald D. Barnhill in Julesburg, CO.&nbsp; The couple had one son.&nbsp;

Pauline made her home in Ogallala since 1972. She worked for TRW as well as many local restaurants as “the salad lady” including the old Holiday Inn, Stage Coach Inn, and North Shore.

In the fall of 1998 she was wed to James E. Hart, Sr. in Alliance, NE.&nbsp; They owned and operated the Lazy K Motel and Hart Mowing Service until their retirement.&nbsp;

Pauline is survived by her children:&nbsp; Carol Serres, of Henderson, NV; Charlotte Johnson, of Ogallala, NE; Ronald Serres, of Chadron, NE; Connie (Henry) McLeod, of Ogallala, NE; Brian Barnhill, of Grand Island, NE; step children: Eddie Hart Jr., of Big Lake, MN; and Jesse Noteboom of Ogallala, NE;5 brothers and one sister ; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, and the love of her life,&nbsp; her husband, “Jimmy”.&nbsp; &nbsp;

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Ogallala Cemetery with Wes Harmon of New Life officiating.

Interment will be held at the Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Pauline Marie Hart  (1944-2021)

Kathleen Ann Hesterwerth of McCook, NE passed away on February 16, 2020, at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Kathy was born June 8, 1948 in McCook, the youngest of John J. and Dorothy C. (Meehan) Hesterwerth's three daughters.&nbsp;Kathy grew up in McCook where she also attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and McCook High School graduating with the Class of 1966. Following high school, she attended McCook Community College. After graduating from college, Kathy moved from Nebraska, living in a variety of places, including California and Washington, D.C. She returned to McCook in 1995, where she lived until her passing.

Kathy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds as well as other wildlife that visited her acreage.

Kathy is survived by two nephews, Mike (Holly) Horton and Robert (Jen) Horton; three nieces, Karen Howell, Christina (Kenneth) Koslowski and, Nanette (Josh) Fisher; as well as her cousins and extended family members.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Loretta Jane (Gerald) Moser and Delores (Robert) Horton; and one nephew, Justin Moser.

Memorials are suggested in Kathy's name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 409 East F St., McCook, NE 69001.
