Cynthia “Cindy” Loree Bolton, age 60, of Lewellen, Nebraska, passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, October 23, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family.&nbsp;

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. (MT) on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Lewellen Tiger Den in Lewellen, Nebraska with Pastor Seung Ho Park of the Lewellen United Methodist Church officiating.&nbsp; A celebration luncheon will follow. A private family burial will take place at Ash Hollow Cemetery in Lewellen.&nbsp;

Cindy was born in Kimball, Nebraska, to Ardis (Newman) and Jerry Babl on Friday, February 19, 1960. As the baby of the family, she was welcomed home by older siblings Diana, Deb, and Mike. She lived in Kimball until the 7th grade when her family relocated to Ogallala, Nebraska. There she met her lifelong friends Pam, Jeannie, Karen, and Sheila. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1978, and she and her friends would continue to live life to the fullest building their futures and families. Cindy met the love of her life, Marty, at MacDougals Bar at Lake McConaughy near Ogallala, Nebraska where she asked him to dance but he was busy bartending. A couple weeks later they crossed paths down by the Dam at the lake where Cindy flagged him down and Marty made his move. The rest is history. They married on April 10, 1982 and resided in the Ogallala area until permanently making their home in Lewellen in 1989. They raised their two daughters, Chelsey and Jessie, or “princesses”, as Cindy would say, and enjoyed the life they made. They filled their time with school and sporting events, family vacations, camping trips, and making memories.

Cindy began her fulfilling career in education in 1992, working in the Lewellen School Systems and later the Garden County School Systems. She became a paraeducator, spending much of her time dedicated to special education. She made an impact in the lives of countless students and families over her 28-year career. Although she enjoyed her career, her favorite titles were wife, mom, and Mimi. She poured her heart and soul into her family and was the sole shoe buyer for her grandbabies. She could never rest for long, always visiting her friends and family, starting a new house project, canning salsa and garden tomatoes, or finding a way to help in her beloved community.&nbsp;

Cindy was diagnosed with Stage IIIC primary peritoneal cancer, a form of ovarian cancer, on October 25, 2013. While this diagnosis was grave, she never took her fighting gloves off and lived these last 7 years with a positive determination, dignity, and grit. She used every opportunity to educate women and bring awareness about ovarian cancer. She brought joy and laughter to countless healthcare providers and fellow cancer patients, always making a new friend at the doctors’ offices or in the hallways during her hospitalizations. Cindy found great meaning in human connection.&nbsp;

Cindy is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Marty Bolton of Lewellen, Nebraska; 2 daughters and their families, Chelsey and Jamie Kennedy and children Olivia (10) and Connor (8) of Grand Island, Nebraska and Jessie and Austen Godbersen and children Arlo (4) and Everitt (1) of Wisner, Nebraska; mother Ardis Babl-Smith of Ogallala, Nebraska; siblings Diana (Duncan) Hevenor, Deb Kolste, and Mike Babl and their families; chosen sisters Pam Collins, Jeannie Reimers, Karen Peratt, and Sheila Clouse and their families; and several extended family and friends.&nbsp;

Cindy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Dr. Rex Kolste and her father, Gerard “Jerry” Babl who welcomed her into her everlasting life. While friends and family will deeply miss the physical presence of Cindy, the impact she made during her years here on earth will continue to ripple forever.

Cynthia "Cindy" Loree Bolton  (1960-2020)

Don Earl Hollenbeck was born August 13, 1935, to Beryl &amp; Cathern Hollenbeck in Ainsworth, Nebraska. He was raised on his family’s ranch southwest of Bassett, Nebraska. Don attended a one room schoolhouse for his grade school education and graduated from Rock County High School in 1953. Don was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958. He received his basic training at Ft. Carson, Colorado and then was stationed in Hawaii for 2 years before being honorably discharged in 1960. Don earned the sharpshooter badge. Don and Sharilyn Sharp were united in marriage on August 27, 1960, in Johnstown, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born, Wayne and Mart. Don and Sharilyn continued to live on the ranch until 1995 when they moved to Long Pine, Nebraska. In Don’s younger years, he belonged to the Bassett American Legion baseball team and would always say with the arrival of a new grandkid, “You know, a left handed kiddo would make a great pitcher!” Don was also a member of the Long Pine Roping Club where they competed in several local towns. Among his many passions were flying his Piper J-3 Cub airplane to check pastures &amp; flying in to pick up the boys from school when the snow was too deep. He enjoyed raising the best greyhounds and having the ability to know his cattle without the aid of an ear tag. Don was a very proud dad and grandad, there were very few sporting events that his boys and grandkids were competing in that he did not attend. He was a very caring and giving man to all of them. Don especially loved Christmas time when we would all sit down and play cards. It was no surprise that he would bid 10 on a 4 hand and make it! He loved his sports and took deep pride in helping Hollenbeck Rodeo Co. Don passed down his enthusiasm for ranching to his two sons and grandson. Don passed away on October 17, 2020, at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bassett, Nebraska.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Beryl and Cathern Hollenbeck and brother Gary Hollenbeck. He is survived by his wife, Sharilyn of 60 years; sons Wayne (Jackie) Hollenbeck and Mart (Dee) Hollenbeck both of Bassett, Nebraska. Four grandchildren: Fallon (Brent) Woods of Tripp, South Dakota; Brooke (Pat) Riha of Stuart, Nebraska; Chase (Melissa) Hollenbeck of Bassett, Nebraska and KayCee Hollenbeck and Rob Parker of Bassett, Nebraska. Nine great grandchildren, sister, Donna(Frank) Guilfoil of Lincoln, California; sisters-in-law, Carol Hollenbeck of Bassett, Nebraska, Sherri Sharp and husband Bill Stevenson of Rapid City, South Dakota; Shirley (Oliver) Painter of Rapid City, South Dakota, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services for Don will be held at a later date. Cheryl Sue (White) Roblyer of Burwell, Nebraska passed away peacefully and surrounded by&nbsp;family on October 20, 2020, after a short bout with cancer. Her generous, loving, sweet and good-natured spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lillian Leibert White, brother Gary White Sr., sister Diane VanHouten, and brother Billy White.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, son Jason (Stacie) of Burwell, Nebraska; granddaughter Madison Roblyer (Hunter Bosard) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Jill Kostman (Rory), and grandson Killian of Cozad, Nebraska; granddaughter Jessamyn Johnson (Colby) of Ogallala, Nebraska and great-niece and favorite child, Jaylee Shaner of Hershey, Nebraska. She is also survived by brothers Danny (Karen) White of Sargent, Nebraska, Keith White of Columbus, Nebraska, Robert (Sharon) White of Kearney, Nebraska, Ronald (Suzi) White of Franklin, New Hampshire, Bradley White of Sargent, Nebraska, and Jerry White of Ord, Nebraska and a sister Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson of Burwell, Nebraska; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, close family friends and “adopted” family.

Cheryl Sue White was born the fifth oldest of eleven children on July 28, 1948 in Sargent, Nebraska to Kenneth Orville White and Lillian Mae Leibert. She attended school in Sargent and graduated in 1968.

Cheryl married Jim Roblyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell on November 30, 1968. Jim left to serve in the Navy during Vietnam shortly after their wedding, and Cheryl lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended hair school in his absence. In May 1971, they made their home in North Platte, Nebraska where they lived until 2015.

Cheryl wore many hats during the time she and Jim lived in North Platte, and after their retirement and move to Burwell in 2015. She worked most recently as the Executive Secretary of the North Platte Public Library where she served the public for 33 years before retiring. She worked at the Taylor Public Library from 2015 until September of 2020, as well. She served on the Republican Valley Library Board for many years, and served on the State Board for the Blind and Handicapped for 12 years. She and Jim were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte, where Cheryl served on the Board of Finance. After moving to Burwell, they continued to worship at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Cheryl was a prayer chain member and a prayer warrior with both fellowships.

Cheryl loved music, especially The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees, and shared her love of music with her children and grandchildren. Her children never knew a time when she didn’t have music on in the house. On one particular road trip with her granddaughters and great-niece, the speakers in Cheryl’s car were blown out by blasting her favorite Bee Gee’s song, “Tragedy.”

Cheryl's lead foot was a source of much discussion and laughter amongst her family, prompting Killian to quip "I'm pretty sure Grandma can get from Burwell to Kearney in 30 minutes".

Cheryl loved being a mom, but she cherished being a grandma to Jessamyn, Madison, and Killian (and Jaylee, of course, who called her “Grandma Aunt Cheryl”), and embraced her&nbsp; “grandsons-in-law,” Colby and Hunter as her own. She attended nearly every choir concert, band concert, quiz bowl competition, Grandparents Day celebration, Christmas program, speech meet, one-act play, musical, soccer game and awards night through the years. A trip to see her grandchildren was never long in her eyes. Cheryl also became an advocate for Autism during this chapter of her life. She was enjoying watching grandson Killian learn to drive in the months before her passing, and was looking forward to the wedding of Madison and Hunter.

She loved visiting with friends Jack and Mary Lee Nichols, and Gary and Joyce Kuhlman, often having them over for a wild game of Sequence that could go on into the late hours of the night.

She loved to garden and bird-watch, and enjoy the fresh air on her patio or porch. She bowled in a bowling league in North Platte for many years. She was an avid reader and encouraged her children and grandchildren to read from an early age. She had a great sense of humor, but was known to roll her eyes so far back in her head that she caught a glimpse of her brain when her family used the “colorful” language she didn’t approve of.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and the mark she made on this Earth will never go unnoticed by those who knew her.

Memorials in Cheryl’s honor can be made to Noah’s Ark Daycare at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell, Nebraska and the Burwell Volunteer Fire Department.

Donald A. Gregory, age 78, of Overton, Nebraska passed away suddenly, Friday, October 23, 2020 in O’Neill, Nebraska doing what he loved to do, trucking.

Don was born February 21, 1942 in Blairstown, Missouri to Ora I. and Mary (Miller) Gregory.

At the age of twelve Don came to Nebraska, by himself, to work. He worked at the hay mills in Elm Creek, Nebraska and started his lifelong occupation, being a truck driver. Over the years Don had worked for many of the local trucking companies. At the time of his death he was hauling livestock for Blase Trucking. Don was well known and loved by the trucking community.

Don was united in marriage to Judy Ryles and then later met Amy Beavers, and they were together for sixteen years.

Don loved fishing, and feeding everyone. He was famous for his burnt steaks and undercooked potatoes. No one could buy a meal when Don was present. He also loved fast cars and would drive past Platte Valley Auto and see one he could not live without. He also loved his longtime companion, Rocky, a chocolate lab. Don loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

Don is survived by his sons: David Gregory of Overton, Nebraska, Mike Gregory of Kansas City, Missouri, Eric Willets of Gothenburg, Nebraska and Greg Love of Cozad, Nebraska; daughters: Sheila of Missouri, Dian and husband Randy Miller of Rockville, Nebraska and Katie and husband Eric Johnson of Axtell, Nebraska; companion, Amy Hernandez of Gothenburg, Nebraska; one brother, Charles of Holdrege, Nebraska; two sisters: Ethel Commins of Warsaw, Missouri and Mary Ann Dempsey of Calhoun, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie, one daughter, Tina and four brothers: Ora Lee, Bob, John and Edward.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home at 106 West 8th Street in Lexington, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple, officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Reynolds Love Facebook Page.

Interment will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton, Nebraska.

Marvin Harlan Dewitt  (1944-2020)

Rhonda J. (Snider) Becker, formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at her home in Cozad, Nebraska at the age of 63.&nbsp; Rhonda was born June 21, 1957 at Phillipsburg, Kansas to Jerome and Ruth (Lynch) Becker. She graduated from Beaver City High with the class of 1975.

Rhonda married Ivan 'Ike' Snider and their union was blessed with three children, Karen, Clint and Justina. The family lived most of their years in Elwood, Nebraska before Rhonda and Justina moved to Beaver City in 2000. She was employed at various places including Steakmaster in Elwood and Landmark in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

Rhonda loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was always seen with a smile, had the best laugh, was a great listener and was always there for her friends. Those close to her always knew how proud she was of them and how much she loved them. As her niece, Megan Becker said “anyone who cries tears of joy every time one of their family members succeeds in something, knows how to love a little deeper than most. Your mom had a very deep love for her family”.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Michael 'Lynn' Becker , and a sister-in-law, Laura Becker.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Troy) Tickle of North Platte, Nebraska, Clint (Brianne) Snider of Cozad, Nebraska and Justina (Jackson) Johnson of Cambridge, Nebraska; grandchildren, Drew and Sutton Tickle, Jenna (Michael) Merrill, Ashtyn, Bryson and Braiton Snider, and Lincoln Johnson; adopted daughter, Courtney Highdale and her children, Florian and Hope; brothers, Dan (Karen) Becker and David (Julia) Becker both of Beaver City, Nebraska; four sisters-in-law that she consider sisters; a wide array of other family members.

Rhonda J. Becker  (1957-2020)

Mary Ellen Luanne (Knutson) Gaulke, age 86, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in Kearney, Nebraska.

Ellen was born April 23, 1934, in Warren, Minnesota, to parents Arnold Clifford and Ebba Margaret Jeanette (Johnson) Knutson.&nbsp; She was the oldest child, followed by brother Allyn, sister Roselyn, and brother Gary. Ellen, her siblings, and their many cousins, worked and played on the family farm, tending to cows and crops. She attended country school in nearby Thief River Falls, and graduated high school in Warren, Minnesota.

In 1954, Ellen moved to the big city, Minneapolis, and there she met the love of her life, Robert C. Gaulke. They were married on March 10, 1956, and soon had son Bob, followed by daughter Karen. In 1959, the young family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska.

Ellen was known for many things, but three things in particular stand out: her art, her marriage, and her faith. Ellen was an incredible seamstress and quilter, having learned from her mother-in-law, Irene. Ellen’s attention to detail and drive for perfection were envied by many, and later on, much of her work was enhanced by her own flairs on existing patterns, or her own designs. For years, Ellen was a seamstress for Mary Anne Vaccaro Clothing, in Omaha, a job she loved. But thread and cloth were not her only media. Ellen was an accomplished painter, most often in rosemaling (bespeaking her Swedish heritage), she knit and crocheted, made hand-drawn and painted cards, and more. It seems that anyone Ellen loved has at least a few original knick-knacks, or pieces of rosemaling, or a quilt, or a card, or a Christmas ornament or two, signed “Knute” (Bob’s nickname for Ellen), or “MEG.” They are all treasures.

For 64 years, Ellen and Bob were completely devoted to one another, and Ellen lived without Bob for only six months, as he passed away in March of 2020. As young marrieds, they enjoyed ice-cream socials and other church activities, Friday night square-dancing (complete with costumes designed and made by Ellen), and annual Labor Day trips to see best family friends in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In later years, Bob and Ellen traveled abroad, to Sweden, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. In 1991, Bob and Ellen retired to Hamilton, Montana, a life-long dream of Bob’s. There they hiked, skied, and played in the Montana pines and backyard pond with all the grandkids. As Bob’s health began to decline, the couple moved to McCook, Nebraska to be closer to family. But through all those years, never an anniversary or birthday or Valentine’s Day passed without a personal poem or a special gift shared between the two.

Ellen’s other life-long commitment was to her Lutheran faith. Steadfast Christians, Bob and Ellen were members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and Lutheran Church of the Master, both in Omaha, as well as Faith Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Montana. Ellen sewed many of the banners for these churches, served food at Swedish American dinners, and attended years and years of Bible Study and Church Circles. It comforts the family to know that Bob and Ellen are together again.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Gaulke in March 2020; her two brothers, Allyn and Gary Knutson; and her sister, Roselyn Thorkelson.

Those celebrating Ellen’s life include her children, Bob (Diane) Gaulke of McCook, Nebraska and Karen (Tom) Heyneman of Fishtail, Montana; four grandchildren and their families, Kate (Eric) Bemis of Bellingham, Washington, Libby (Nick) Moga and children Greta, Oliver and Elliott of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Bob (Stephanie) Gaulke and children Cecilia and Britta of McCook, Nebraska and Grant Brunton of Bellingham, Washington.

Ellen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bob, in the Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, at a later date.

Eudean M. Buzzell  (1936-2020)

Debra Huber Smith, age 65 of Hebron, Nebraska passed into heaven in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 23, 2020 to be with family and friends.

She was born on January 12, 1955 to Phyllis and Pete Huber of Cozad, Nebraska.

Debra was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church in Cozad, and was a 1973 graduate of Cozad High School.

It takes a special person to raise a special needs child, she did this with the help of Miranda Fierce, and strong, independent and &nbsp;loving are just a few words to describe Deb.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was admired by many.

Deb had a heart of gold and was loyal to a fault. Her smile and the sparkle in her eyes will be remembered as well as her infectious laughter. She could light up a room with her smile. Deb was a successful woman in all of her ventures and an intelligent woman.

She is survived by her husband, Jay of Hebron, Nebraska; son, Gavin Hatcher of Hebron, Nebraska; daughter, Miranda Hatcher of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters, Ramona (Wes) Neben of Lexington, Nebraska, Kathy (Chuck) Brauer of North Platte, Nebraska, Shelly Enyeart and friend Capri of Palm Springs, California, Lana (Mike) Nicolen of Holdrege, Nebraska; grandchildren, Henry Hatcher, Lillianna Hatcher and Jack Casebolt all of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Debra Huber Smith  (1955-2020)

Ellie Renee Siegel, age 12, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away October 21, 2020 at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was born April 13, 2008 to Shane and Jessica (Burke) Siegel in Lincoln, Nebraska.&nbsp; Ellie was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She attended grade school at Lake Maloney Elementary in North Platte, Nebraska before going to North Platte Catholic Schools for the last two years.&nbsp; Ellie was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte.

Ellie brought so much love and joy to everyone in her life. She was a sweet and thoughtful girl who always strived to make others happy. Gentle and loving, Ellie dreamed of one day being a kindergarten teacher.

Ellie was a driven and motivated girl who always took pride in doing her very best. She had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. Ellie enjoyed art, spending countless hours drawing and making crafts. She loved exploring the beauty in nature, always on the lookout for scenic views and breathtaking sunsets.

Ellie loved spending time with her friends. She was an avid Harry Potter fan and was obsessed with ice cream and shopping. Ellie’s favorite sport was volleyball, and she also enjoyed swimming, dancing, and running. Though reserved, those who knew Ellie best got to see the goofy and quirky side of her personality and were often left laughing and only wanting more.

In her short time on Earth, Ellie touched many lives and will be profoundly missed by so many. We all take great comfort in knowing that Ellie is now at peace and is with the Lord, dancing with the angels in Heaven.

She was a sweet and thoughtful girl who always strived to make others happy. Gentle and loving, Ellie dreamed of one day being a kindergarten teacher.Ellie was a driven and motivated girl who always took pride in doing her very best. She had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. Ellie enjoyed art, spending countless hours drawing and making crafts. She was an avid Harry Potter fan and was obsessed with ice cream and shopping. Ellie’s favorite sport was volleyball, and she also enjoyed swimming, dancing, and running. Ellie Renee Siegel  (2008-2020)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jerry E. Jerry was born on September 13, 1942 in North Platte, Nebraska to&nbsp; Raymond William Florer and Serina Lena Sorenson.

Jerry graduated for high school in North Platte with the Class of 1963.&nbsp; He then joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged.

Jerry married Iolia B. McQueen on April 19, 1964 in Ogallala, Nebraska.&nbsp; Jerry loved his family and friends, as well as loved to hunt &amp; fish.

Jerry was preceded in death by both his parents: William &amp; Serina Florer of North Platte, Nebraska; and by his sister, Wanda Irene, who died at birth.

He is survived by his wife, Iolia Florer; three daughters ShanDey (Paul) Page of Marietta, Ohio, Carlene (Russell) Minzel of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kim (Tony) Garrelts of Ogallala, Nebraska; two grandsons Andrew (Tiffany) and Michael; three granddaughters MyKayla (Brandon), Kristine (Nick), and Kelsea; and two great-grandsons Alex and Link.

She was a member of the coast Guard Auxiliary with her husband for 5 years.&nbsp; Debra enjoyed going to bingo and playing slot machines.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Debra is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Kenna (Steve) Smith, Mark Wiezorek (Kim Cotton), and Paul (Nikki) Wiezorek; and her beloved grandchildren Megan, Lyndsey and Emily Spurgin, Kelsey and Kaylee Smith, and Sam and Dylan Wiezorek.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Delores Herold; brother Clifford "Gene" McCarty; grandson Daniel Wiezorek; and a granddaughter Alexis "Lexi" Wiezorek.

He married Cheryl (Collins) Nichols on February 10, 1986.

Chuck grew up in Iowa and graduated from High School in Loveland, Colorado. He married Jeanette Wright in Fort Collins, Colorado. Chuck lost Jeanette to cancer in 1989. He learned the plumbing trade from his father-in-law and family and became a master plumber.

Chuck married Janet Cecil in 1990 at Big Thompson Canyon in Colorado. The couple lived in Loveland where he owned and operated Stille Sanitation. They moved to New Raymer, Colorado where they had a ranch and an open-door policy to whoever wanted to come by. The couple moved to North Platte, Nebraska around 2000 where Chuck worked at Briggs Supply and worked with Mastre Homes in Grant, Nebraska, where he did their plumbing.

Chuck loved to fish, camp, and do woodworking. He was very proud of his cattle and loved to work with his tractor. Chuck was very involved with Prairie School by the ranch, he even drove the school bus. Chuck, Janet and the rest of the family loved antiquing, they collected Blue Ridge pottery. He enjoyed helping youth, especially having the young fellas at the ranch.

Chuck was Janet’s hero, as he saved her life.

Survivors include his wife Janet of North Platte, Nebraska; three children, Terri Lynn Earl of Grand Junction, Colorado, Tyler (Kelli) Stille of Tabor, Iowa, Brandon (Tanya) Stille of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Stephanie (Spencer) Linton, Tucker Stille, Jacob Stille, Clayton Stille, Jessica (Stephen) Hren, Benjamin (Heather) Earl, Michaela (Jake) Hoppe; great grandchildren, Kieran Rosenberg, Willow Ferguson, Jackson Hren, Jayden Hren, Oliver Hren; numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Claude and Melva Cecil; a sister; and a brother-in-law.

Ernest C. "Chuck" Stille  (1942-2020)

William Robert Joseph passed away on October 20, 2020 at his home in Valentine, Nebraska.&nbsp; Known widely as Bill and to many friends and family as Bill Bob, he was a fixture in the local community.&nbsp; Bill was born to John &amp; Gloretta "Toots" Joseph on October 7, 1937 in Valentine, Nebraska. He enjoyed his early years with older siblings Corrine &amp; Jack, graduating from Valentine High School in 1955.

On August 8, 1955 he was married to Betty Mulligan and recently celebrated a 65th anniversary with family.&nbsp; Their marriage was blessed with three children, Debra, Roger &amp; Cindy.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bill's was a tireless entrepreneur and was faithfully at work at one of his businesses on the morning that preceded his death.&nbsp; Bill worked with his father and brother at the Corner Market grocery at 2nd &amp; Main in Valentine until his partners agreed to his relentless desire to build a new, and larger store on the next block. Success in retail allowed the family to begin ranching, feeding fat cattle &amp; even raising quarter horses.&nbsp; With son, Roger, Bill transformed a property north of town in to a productive feedlot and the duo began to acquire more cattle of their own.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The pressure of the mid-1980s cattle market drove Bill back to town where he found incredible success transforming a condemned hotel and cafe in to the Peppermill Restaurant.&nbsp; Bill &amp; Betty's venture at 1st and Main Street in Valentine quickly became a destination for travelers and local patrons. Bill took great pride in serving beef, as he had now raised cattle, been a butcher in his own market and now presenting steaks that so impressed clientele he was asked to provide T-bones to parties hosted by President Reagan.

Bill built the Comfort Inn with two family friends in 1995 and sold the restaurant to Roger in 1996.&nbsp; In the next 25 years of "retirement" Bill found still worked tirelessly and added to his resume.&nbsp; After working as a host in a Las Vegas restaurant he moved on to one of his most beloved positions, handling donors and ticket sales at UNLV.&nbsp; He would enjoy additional success back home in Valentine as well, turning the old Dunes Motel into the improved, and much larger Econo Lodge Inn &amp; Suites, in addition to being the foreman for the construction of the new Peppermill on Highway 20.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father, &amp; brother Jack.&nbsp; 

He is survived by wife Betty, daughter Debra Higgins (Tom), son Roger Joseph (Jayne), and daughter Cindy Galloway (Keven). Surviving grandchildren include Robert Joseph (Lacey), Rachelle Borchers (Jeff), Lacey Hoefs (Dustin), and Brandon Bennett.&nbsp; Great-grandchildren, the love of Bill's life, included Blake and Halle Borchers, Kylee Hoefs, and Cruz and Lennon Joseph and sister Corinne Tangeman (Larry)

Roger Lee Jensen, age 70 of Dunning, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Roger was born March 11, 1950 in Anselmo, Nebraska to Raymond Wallace and Lois (Glause) Jensen.

Roger attended school in Anselmo, Mullen, Hildreth, and Kearney, graduating from Kearney High School.

On January 2, 1968 Roger married LaDonna Meadow, and to this union a daughter Tami was born, LaDonna passed away October 13, 1999. On July 23, 2001 Roger married Vickey Coffman in Kearney, Nebraska. Roger and Vickey made their home in Dunning, and loved the sandhills area. Roger enjoyed fishing and visiting with his many friends.

Roger is survived by wife Vickey (Coffman) Jensen of Dunning, daughter Tami (Jim) Thompson of Kearney, granddaughter Kristen (John) Orlowski of Madison, grandson Geoff, two great grandchildren Elayna and Collin, and a sister Jennifer Nakazawa.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Wallace and Lois (Glause) Jensen, first wife LaDonna, a great-grandson John Thomas Orlowski IV, two brothers Raymond and Gary, and a sister Jeane.

Mary Harmon  (1939-2020)

Verna Cecilia Kellogg, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away at home surrounded&nbsp;by her family on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the age of 95. Verna was born January 31, 1925, to John and Mary Goonan in Greeley, Nebraska.&nbsp; She attended Sacred Heart School in Greeley for 12 years, graduating from high school in 1943, as valedictorian of her class.&nbsp; She then accepted a secretarial position with the U.S. Federal Government at the Grand Island Air Force Base. In June of 1946, her work transferred her to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, where she was secretary to the Chief Executive Officer of the Flight Test Division.&nbsp; This position involved recording by shorthand and transcribing many top secret meetings of a highly technical and newsworthy nature.&nbsp; During these years, Verna had the opportunity to work with many interesting and highly honored military personnel, including Captains Chuck Yeager and Glen Edwards.&nbsp; Capt Yeager made the historic flight of breaking the sound barrier in an X-1 research rocket plane at Muroc Air Force Base in California. Capt Edwards, a test pilot, was killed in the crash of a new, experimental aircraft, "The Flying Wing", at Muroc Air Force Base.&nbsp; The base was later renamed, Edwards Air Force Base in his honor.&nbsp; Both Captains were friends of Verna's, having a working relationship on a daily basis.&nbsp; Verna was proud of the years she worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. In 1949, Verna resigned her position to return to her hometown of Grand Island, then accepted a position as secretary to the Commanding Officer at Kearney Air Force Base until it closed. She then transferred to Bergstrom Air Force Base, Austin, Texas, where she held a temporary position as secretary to the Base Adjutant. After a few months, she returned home and became reacquainted with longtime friend, Don Kellogg, and they had a whirlwind courtship of three months.&nbsp; They married at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island, Nebraska on&nbsp;November 26, 1949.&nbsp; The couple moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1953 with their&nbsp;three young children and later welcomed five more children.&nbsp;&nbsp; Verna was&nbsp;a stay-at-home mother and homemaker for the following 11 years. She went back to work for the U.S. Federal Government in 1964, working in the newly built Federal Building in North Platte. She worked for the General Services Administration for 12 years then transferred to the IRS for another 12 years.&nbsp; Verna retired in 1988 having completed 30 years with the Federal Government. Verna had a strong Catholic faith.&nbsp; She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for over 30 years, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for 15 years and was currently a member of Holy Spirit.&nbsp; Don and Verna's faith also guided their four boys and four girls to complete 12 years of education at St. Patrick's Catholic School.&nbsp; A Catholic education for their children was most important to Verna and Don. Over the years, Verna was secretary for St. Patrick's Boy Scout Troup, assistant leader for the Blue Birds Club, a member of the Altar Society, St. Patrick's School Board as well as the Eagles and Elks Clubs.&nbsp; Verna belonged to several bridge clubs and she and Don belonged to a poker club with their longtime friends for over 60 years.&nbsp; For the past several years, her favorite pastime was attending dances at the Senior Center, Eagles and Elks, sometimes dancing two or three times a week. Verna's children and their families were always an important part of her life.&nbsp; She looked forward to the many family get-together occasions to celebrate birthdays, weddings, holidays and family reunions.&nbsp; She and Don were devoted parents who took pride in their eight children, at one point having 6 children ages 7 and under.&nbsp; Verna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a passion for her faith and dancing and&nbsp;lived life to the fullest. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and daughter, Julie Buehler; parents, John and Mary Goonan; infant brother, William; sister, Mary Ellen and husband, Holly 'Jack' Donohue; brother-in-law, Charles and wife, Jean Gallagher; and son-in-law, Duane Beck. Survivors include her seven children, Nancy (Rick) Bodenhamer, of Hershey, Janet Beck, of Omaha, John (Rhonda) Kellogg, of Council Bluffs, IA, Tom (Bev) Kellogg, of Omaha, Sally (Jim) McMurtry, of North Platte, Patrick Kellogg (Patty Martin), of Grand Island, and Dennis (Jennifer) Kellogg, of Lincoln; son-in-law, Neil Buehler, of Belmont, MI; her special friend, Leon Sullivan, of North Platte; 31 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; as well as other family. She went back to work for the U.S. Federal Government in 1964, working in the newly built Federal Building in North Platte. She worked for the General Services Administration for 12 years then transferred to the IRS for another 12 years.&nbsp; Verna retired in 1988 having completed 30 years with the Federal Government. Verna had a strong Catholic faith.&nbsp; She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for over 30 years, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for 15 years and was currently a member of Holy Spirit.&nbsp; Don and Verna's faith also guided their four boys and four girls to complete 12 years of education at St. Patrick's Catholic School.&nbsp; A Catholic education for their children was most important to Verna and Don. Over the years, Verna was secretary for St. Patrick's Boy Scout Troup, assistant leader for the Blue Birds Club, a member of the Altar Society, St. Patrick's School Board as well as the Eagles and Elks Clubs.&nbsp; Verna belonged to several bridge clubs and she and Don belonged to a poker club with their longtime friends for over 60 years.&nbsp; For the past several years, her favorite pastime was attending dances at the Senior Center, Eagles and Elks, sometimes dancing two or three times a week. Verna's children and their families were always an important part of her life.&nbsp; She looked forward to the many family get-together occasions to celebrate birthdays, weddings, holidays and family reunions.&nbsp; She and Don were devoted parents who took pride in their eight children, at one point having 6 children ages 7 and under.&nbsp; Verna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a passion for her faith and dancing and&nbsp;lived life to the fullest. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and daughter, Julie Buehler; parents, John and Mary Goonan; infant brother, William; sister, Mary Ellen and husband, Holly 'Jack' Donohue; brother-in-law, Charles and wife, Jean Gallagher; and son-in-law, Duane Beck. Survivors include her seven children, Nancy (Rick) Bodenhamer, of Hershey, Janet Beck, of Omaha, John (Rhonda) Kellogg, of Council Bluffs, IA, Tom (Bev) Kellogg, of Omaha, Sally (Jim) McMurtry, of North Platte, Patrick Kellogg (Patty Martin), of Grand Island, and Dennis (Jennifer) Kellogg, of Lincoln; son-in-law, Neil Buehler, of Belmont, MI; her special friend, Leon Sullivan, of North Platte; 31 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; as well as other family. Services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; Rosary will be 7&nbsp;p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 and Mass of Christian Burial will be 8:30 a.m. Monday,&nbsp;October 26, 2020.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Ft. McPherson National&nbsp;Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.&nbsp; Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Odean Colonial&nbsp;Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore in North Platte and from 6-7 p.m. with family greeting friends at&nbsp;Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Verna Cecilia Kellogg  (1925-2020)

Patricia Anne 'Patsy' Vigil, of North Platte, passed away at home with her husband by her side on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at the age of 79. Pat was born June 21, 1941, in Shelby, Montana, to Lloyd and Evelyn (Lohr) Hellinger.&nbsp; She graduated from Shelby High School in 1959 then went to beauty school in Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; Pat continued living in the Denver&nbsp;area where she got married, raised three children, and worked as a&nbsp;florist for 30 years. In 1992 Pat met Dave Vigil and they were married on July 9, 1993, in Arvada, Coloraado then made their home in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; They enjoyed traveling and&nbsp;RV'ing together.&nbsp; Pat liked fine arts, plays, musicals and was an&nbsp;artist.&nbsp; She was good at painting and enjoyed teaching kids how to&nbsp;paint.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Prairie Art Center.&nbsp; Pat loved her&nbsp;family, especially her grandchildren near and far. Donnie Joe Pool, age 62, of Overton, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 19, 2020 at his home.

Donnie Joe was born January 16, 1958, at Kearney, Nebraska to Donnie and Delores (Warta) Pool. Donnie received his education from Overton Public Schools, graduating from Overton High School with the class of 1976. Following graduation, Donnie started working for System Buildings in Lexington, Nebraska. He then spent the next thirty plus years working for Overton Sand and Gravel.

Donnie was united in marriage to Cheryl Lynn Carlson on May 21, 1983 in Overton. The couple was blessed with one son, Christopher. They made their home south of Overton. Their marriage would later end in divorce.

He was very artistic and was a talented drawer. He never would admit it, but Donnie loved animals, especially his dogs, Missy and Diego. Donnie was an avid reader and faithful listener to KRVN. He had a dry sense of humor and loved his cold beer. In his younger years, he enjoyed nice cars.

Donnie Joe leaves to celebrate his life, his son, Christopher (Sharon) Pool of Lexington, NE; step-daughter, Amanda (Nick) Haussler of Overton, NE; three grandchildren, Dylan, Isaac and Alyssa; three brothers, Gene Pool of Sultan, Washington, Cliff (Shelly) Pool of Swisher, Iowa and Dale (Cyndi) Pool of New Hartford, Iowa; three sisters, Laura Reinick of Elwood, Cindy (Jason) Crockett of St. John, Kansas and Tammie (Paul) Reinick of Lincoln; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tom Reinick.

A visitation with a time of sharing with family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 12:00 – 2 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE.

Burial will follow at Overton Cemetery at Overton, NE.
