&nbsp; Edwin Murrell Thompson was born an only child to Murrell and Irene (Phifer) Thompson on October 30, 1942 in Benkelman Nebraska. Eddie grew up in Benkelman and graduated from Dundy County High School in 1961.

Throughout his life, Ed had a variety of different careers. He enjoyed many years with Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. He was proud to be the owner of Eddies Recreation until selling to Beth in 1989 and finished his working years in Blackhawk, CO as a greeter for casinos. He was affectionately known as “Eddie the Waiver”. So good at hospitality, he earned a nickname and a write-up in the Blackhawk newspaper.

Eddie loved motorcycles and the freedom they afford. He enjoyed long distance bike rides. In his free time, if Ed wasn’t riding the bike, hunting deer or pheasant, he could be found watching an old western film or any football game while in season.

Eddie loved football and enjoyed watching the sport. He never claimed complete allegiance to any one team, but he did seem to favor the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Dallas Cowboys.

Ed is survived by his children; Tami (Marty) Cline of Callaway, NE, Scott (Becky) Thompson of Gretna, NE, Michelle (Brad) Baney of Parks, NE; grandchildren, Tanner (Shayla) Cline, Connor Thompson, Brayden (Molly) Baney, Mckinzie Baney; one great-grandchild, Charlie Cline; his aunt, Naomi Davis; and numerous cousins.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. MT Tuesday, October 24 at Benkelman Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Gleason officiating.

&nbsp; Alan Wayne Blecha was born to Walt and Margaret Jean (Howard) Blecha on February 19, 1951 in Benkelman, NE. Alan grew up in north of Benkelman at Twin Lakes and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1969. Alan briefly attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln for a semester. His love for farming and animals was strong and he decided to return to Benkelman and farmed with his dad.

In the summer of 1972, he married Ellen Ham. As they built the farm together they created a family with three children, Ben, Char, and Dee.

Alan was blessed with a keen sense for animal behaviors and was without a doubt, a forward thinker. Alan focused much of his time on feed rations and improving farming equipment long before such ideas were commonplace. He would rebuild a new piece of equipment before he even put it in the field. He built a farrowing system far ahead of its time.

In 1979 Alan was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer Dundy County for his animal husbandry and general farming abilities.

Arm wrestling champion and pulling guard, he was a powerful man. His eyes would light up at the notion of Benkelman beating Wray his senior year.

He loved his kids as best he could, taught them to dream and always look to make the world a better place. His smile radiated so much you could feel how much he cared for you.

Due to health reasons beyond his control, Alan was no longer able to continue along the path he hoped for and was forced into early retirement at a young age.

In his later stages of life, Alan was blessed to become a resident of the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. He enjoyed his time at the manor and the numerous friendships that were formed. Alan was well cared for and genuinely loved everyone who cared for him over the years.

Through it all, Alan never stopped dreaming and smiling.

Alan is survived by his children, Benjamin (Renee), Charlene (Curtis) Sohm, and Deidre Blecha; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Madison, Emma, Lila, Henry, Hattie and J.J., his brother, Larry Blecha (Linda), sister-in-law Jean Blecha; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Cynthia Fries.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 A.M. MT Monday, October 23 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman with Pastor Jim Gleason officiating.

Alan Wayne Blecha (1951-2023)

Kimberly Kae Allen was born in McCook, Nebraska on July 7th, 1960, to Larry and Janet(Eckhardt) Rich. She grew up in Littleton, Colorado and lived there until returning to raise her family in the same small town of McCook that she loved to visit during the holidays and summer months.&nbsp;

Kim was married to Leo Wyatt in 1980 and from this union they birthed two sons: Tyler and Travis Wyatt.&nbsp; Kim was widowed in 1990.&nbsp; Relocating to McCook a few years later, she met Robert Allen. They were married in the fall of 1995 and a year later they birthed their daughter, Katlyn Wilson(Allen). They continued to live and raise the family in McCook. Kim had a passion for care. Which was easy to see in her lifelong career of nursing care. She was a beacon of compassion not just to the patients in her care, but to her friends and family. She would always make sure everyone was doing as best they could, crack a joke or sing a funny song to get the spirits lifted. The one thing Kim was most passionate about, was animals of all kinds. From rescuing them, to having her own personal zoo at times, there was never an animal she didn’t want to befriend and love.

She was fortunate enough to get the title of “Grammy Kimmy” in 2015 and took a lot of pride in being “a cool grandma” as she would always remind us. She loved watching her grandkids grow up, especially sharing her sense of humor with them, it really reignited the little kid within her spirit all over.

Kim passed away at her home in McCook on October 16, 2023 due to health complications. She never lost her sense of humor, and her passion to care for others, even when she needed the care herself.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garrett and Dorothy Eckhardt(McCook) and Royal and Louise Rich(McCook), her first husband, Leo Wyatt.&nbsp;

Kim’s spirit will live on through the lives her parents Janet and Larry Rich, of McCook, Neb, her sister Stacy(Mark) Marra of Phoenix, Ariz., cousin Chris(Eckhardt)(Mike) Bannister of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and of course through her children, Tyler Wyatt of McCook, Neb and Travis (Lisa) Wyatt of Castle Rock, CO, and her daughter Katlyn(Tyler) Wilson(Porum, OK). As well as through all seven of her grandchildren, nephews and nieces.&nbsp;

Dorothy Schwartz, 93, formerly of Chappell passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 in Greeley, Colorado.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell with Reverend Neil Carlson officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time Wednesday at the church.

Dorothy was born in Denver, CO, March 14th&nbsp;1930. Her parents were Albert and Helen (Schwynoch) Huston of Julesburg, CO. She attended school at Sedgwick County High School in Julesburg as well as worked at Shaw’s Bakery.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Myron Schwartz in Chappell Sept. 7th, 1947. To this union they had four children: Myra Lynne,&nbsp;LeAnne&nbsp;Helen, Darrel William and Dennis Duane. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.&nbsp;

Myron and Dorothy farmed from 1947 to 2003 east of Chappell on the Schwartz family farm. She also worked at the Bonus Shop and Gambles hardware for several years. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time socializing. Active in the church with Sunday school, many school activities and later provided daycare for several children in the community.

Dorothy was loved and cherished by her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Schwartz; daughter, LeAnne&nbsp;Sewald; son-in-law, Michael Potter Sr; her parents Albert and Helen Huston.

She is survived by her children: Myra Potter, Darrel Schwartz (Kathy), Dennis Schwartz. Grandchildren Michelle, Melissa, Michael, Tyler, Trevor, Kalie, Kyle, Erin, Emilee and Nicholas. Great-grandchildren: Marcus, James, Sam, Shawn, Amanda, Alexis, Jayson, Taya, David, Ava and&nbsp;Aunikah. As well as six great-great-grandchildren: Michael, Jaxton, Thomas, Breanna,&nbsp;Broedyand&nbsp;Paislee.

Buddy was born on April 6, 1951, to Orville and Darlene Stinnette. Buddy graduated from Perkins County High School.

Buddy enjoyed collecting matchbox cars and antique toys. He liked to go to drag races. He loved his dogs and spent a great deal of time doting on them. Buddy also loved to go for drives and make the rounds with his canine companion by his side. He spent many years working with his father in elevator construction.

He is survived by his sister, Judy Brown of Lincoln; niece, Melissa, and her husband, Ryan Schmidt; and great-niece and nephew, Madelyn and William. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Darlene Stinnette, and his brother-in-law, Stan Brown.

Buddy Stinnette (1951-2023)

Bruce Kevin Brown, age 67, of Ogallala, Nebraska (formerly of Sierra Vista, Arizona) died peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in Ogallala.

Born in Arrington, Cambridgeshire, England on August 23, 1956, our dad became child number four of seven, to the late Rosvil and June Brown. Being an Air Force military brat, he “blessed” three school districts by attending their high schools and showed them all how to “have a good time”.&nbsp; He was an amazing athlete in both football and track. As a track star, he broke school records to include a US Defense Europe track record in the 400 and 200 meters. After leaving Europe, he graduated from Belton High School in Belton, TX.

He is one of the strongest men we know. Battling Stage IV cancer since September 2016, he was given only six months to live, but he said it would take a lot more than that for him to give up. It is&nbsp; no surprise that his favorite child was chosen to write his obituary. She is a lot like her dad, and she chose herself for this task. She is me, so hold onto your pearls because our dad was a retired boozer who loved being the “supervisor” of this thing called life.

As a young, driven entrepreneur, he started two cable businesses in the San Francisco Bay area. This created a passion for cable which guided him to bring his family to southern Arizona, establish roots, and finish his 30-year cable career. After retiring from a career in cable, he decided to become a trucker and get paid to see beautiful America. Being on the road for a little over 10 years, he fell in love with Ogallala, NE, which he was proud to call home.

If there was anything that our dad loved in this lifetime, it was his family. He and his now ex-wife, Kim, ran off as wild teenagers to get married in Carson City, Nevada, in April of 1976. He succeeded in one of his most important goals in life, which was to have six children within 10 years. In the late summer of 1977, they welcomed a strong-willed son, Michael, and in the winter of 1979, they were blessed with a princess named Sally. Our dad and mom needed a little break but started up again to have a special son, Dustin, in the spring of 1984, a beautiful daughter, Pauline, in 1985, another daughter in 1986, who later became his favorite child, Erica(me), and a baby boy Barret in 1987 who has been waiting in Heaven for his daddy since he was two years old.

Aside from his love for his family, our dad loved music, which meant he was the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave. He was known for jamming out on his guitar and harmonica with his buddies and cousins and dancing the night away at every Oktoberfest that Sierra Vista had while we lived there.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Rosvil and June Brown, a brother Scott Brown, a nephew Christopher Brown, two grandsons Liam and Maximus Bush, and a son Barret James Brown.

Our dad is survived by us children: Michael (Chris) Brown of Buckeye, AZ, Sally (Mike) McGeoghegan of Sierra Vista, AZ, Dustin Brown of Rocklin, CA, Pauline (Manny) Brown Montero of Las Vegas, NV, and Erica (Jeff) Bush of Ogallala, NE; his grandchildren: Barrett, Claire, Paige, Dillon, Devon, Ethan, Bella, Mateo, Baby M, David, Brandon, Cameron, Ella, Mario, Anica, and Sophia; siblings: Becci, Julie, Marty, James, and Russel; several nieces and nephews, life-long friends, and neighbors that became friends.

A small celebration of life will be held in Arizona at a later date.

He and his now ex-wife, Kim, ran off as wild teenagers to get married in Carson City, Nevada, in April of 1976. He succeeded in one of his most important goals in life, which was to have six children within 10 years. In the late summer of 1977, they welcomed a strong-willed son, Michael, and in the winter of 1979, they were blessed with a princess named Sally. Our dad and mom needed a little break but started up again to have a special son, Dustin, in the spring of 1984, a beautiful daughter, Pauline, in 1985, another daughter in 1986, who later became his favorite child, Erica(me), and a baby boy Barret in 1987 who has been waiting in Heaven for his daddy since he was two years old.Aside from his love for his family, our dad loved music, which meant he was the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave. Maeve came into the world early on March 22, 2022, eager to change the lives of everyone who knew her. In her time with us, she faced many challenges with bravery, smiles, and snuggles. She was a loving and gentle soul who could be a real rascal. Maeve touched the hearts of all who knew her, whether it was family, friends, nurses, doctors, or strangers. She loved swimmy time in the bathtub and was lovingly called “Snoozy Suzie” for her ability to nap just about anywhere and anytime. Maeve gave us so many gifts in her 18 months ~ 24 days: patience, grace, kindness, acceptance, and so much love. Her final gift was her strong heart, as she was able to donate her heart valves and help two babies live on in her memory.

Maeve Joy Marie Stefka (March 22, 2022 - October 16, 2023)

Joyce Elaine Schaeffer, 90, passed away October 15, 2023 at her home in Lincoln, NE. Joyce was born April 24, 1933 to Floyd and Mabel Dickerson Fowler in McPherson County Nebraska.

She was the youngest of eleven children and grew up in the sandhills north of Ringgold and in Gandy. On November 26, 1949 she married Cecil Burnside at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton. They made their home in North Platte before returning to his family farm NW of Stapleton in 1976 where they lived until Cecil’s death in 2001 and Joyce’s subsequent move into Stapleton. Joyce and Cecil had two daughters, Patricia (Trisha) and Connie.&nbsp; One of Joyce’s loves in life was teaching Sunday School for many, many years; while in North Platte at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church and while in Stapleton at the First Presbyterian Church. She also loved to cook and garden. Joyce was a member of the Banner Mothers Extension Club in Stapleton and had formed many lasting friendships through this club.&nbsp; In 2004, Joyce married George Schaeffer, of Stapleton, and they were together until George’s death in 2019. In 2021, Joyce moved to Lincoln where she lived close to her daughters.

Survivors include her two daughters, Trisha (Dave) Lewis of Lincoln, and Connie (Daryl) Luers of Wahoo; four grandchildren, Jon Lewis of Lincoln, Julie (Josh) Schlote of Norfolk, Katie (Dan) Frieden Buffalo Gap, SD, and Kelsy (Tyler) Hays of Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, Jace Eddy, Jaden Eddy, Luke Frieden, Robin Frieden, Jesse Frieden, and Harley Mae Hays; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by George’s children and extended family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Cecil Burnside and George Schaeffer, five brothers and wives; Wesley (Alma), Herbert (Ora), Ervin (Merna), Mildford (Lucille), and Norman (Grace); five sisters and their husbands, Shirley (James) Dobbins, Golda (Gerald) Franklin, Thelma (Vernon) Johnson, Freida (Guy) Simpson and Lyla (Don) Blevins.

Joyce Elaine Burnside-Schaeffer (1933-2023)

BRIAN J. CONLEY, 55, of Ogallala, passed away on October 13, 2023, at Ogallala Community Hospital.

Brian was born on January 2, 1968, in Syracuse, NY, to James and Mary Jo (Ochwat) Conley. At a young age, Brian and his family relocated to Aurora, CO, where he completed his high school education.

For many years, Brian worked as a bartender at Senor Ric's in Aurora, CO. It was there that he met and fell in love with Michele Green. The couple eventually settled in Ogallala, Nebraska, a place they had come to love during their summer camping trips. In Ogallala, Brian was employed in warehousing at Ogallala Community Hospital.

Known for his immense compassion, Brian found his greatest joy in the company of his family. A dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he recently fulfilled one of his last wishes by attending their home opening game.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents and aunt.

He is survived by his wife, Michele Conley of Ogallala; son, Jacob Conley of Ogallala; mother, Mary Jo Perry and Barry Redecker of Ogallala; father, James Conley of Syracuse, NY; brother, James Conley of Lakewood, CO; brother Paul Conley of Syracuse, NY; sister Olivia Conley of Syracuse, NY. He also leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends.

Brian Conley (1968-2023)

Phyllis Dianne Biggs age 76, of Wilber, NE (formerly of Ogallala, NE) died Sunday, October 15, 2023, peacefully at home while in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Alliance, NE on February 27, 1947, Phyllis was the daughter of Charles and Lillabelle Grafford. She grew up in the Mullen, NE area and graduated from Mullen High School in 1965.&nbsp; She continued her education at Chadron State College from 1965 – 1966 and then moved to Alliance, NE.&nbsp; After her first daughter, Kristi, was born in June of 1968, she and her family moved to Ogallala.&nbsp; Ogallala is where she met Ronald Turner and married in February 1974.&nbsp; After his death that same year, her second daughter, Rona, was born.&nbsp; While working at the VFW, she met Paul Biggs.&nbsp; They married on June 16th, 1978.&nbsp; In 1979 they welcomed her 3rd daughter, Elaine.&nbsp;

Phyllis worked for 11 years in the Ogallala School lunch program from 1982 – 1993.&nbsp;&nbsp; In 1993, her family moved to Wilber, NE, and continued working in the school lunch program there until she retired in 2010.&nbsp;

One of the things Phyllis treasured most in life was her family. &nbsp;She cherished spending time with family and made a point of visiting with siblings, nieces, nephews, and others as much as she could.&nbsp; Her warm smile, kind words, and profound loyalty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.&nbsp;

In addition to her family, Phyllis enjoyed researching and documenting family history, puzzles, games, and being a competitive card player where she loved to engage in a lively match using her sharp strategy and sense of humor at the table.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Paul Biggs, daughters, Kristi Grafford of Omaha, NE, Rona Boyd of Douglass, KS, and Elaine (Salvador) Regalado, of Wilber, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp; Siblings, Arnold (Helen) Grafford of Lewellen, Tom (Kathy) Grafford of Keystone, NE, John Grafford of Sutherland, NE and Nora (Steve) Deaver of Holyoke, CO.&nbsp; Eight grandchildren, M’Kailalyn (Lindsay), Grant, Kayleigh, Kennedy, Gavin, Ethan, Abygail, and JT, plus 3 bonus grandchildren, Lizzie, Miranda, and Brody. She also held a special place in her heart for every one of her nieces and nephews and their families.&nbsp;

The Funeral Service will be Friday, October 20th, 2023 at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M., officiating will be Pastor Mark Baldwin of Paxton United Methodist Church.

Internment will take place on October 20th, 2023 in the Ogallala Cemetery, Ogallala, NE.

Lyle Dean Coleman was born July 25, 1953, in Broken Bow, NE to Donald and Jennie (Lepant) Coleman. Lyle grew up in the Broken Bow area, graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1972. Lyle married Cindy Main in Broken Bow. The couple made their home in Broken Bow. To this union two daughters were born: Amy and Holly. Lyle worked for Jim Coleman farming, then later he went to work for Adams Land &amp; Cattle working as a feed truck driver retiring in 2012.

Lyle enjoyed gardening, mowing, tinkering in the garage, and working on old tractors. Lyle’s pride and joy was his grandsons.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jennie.

Lyle is survived by his daughters Amy Coleman of Broken Bow, and Holly Coleman of Broken Bow, three grandsons Tristan Baburek, Teaghan Leverington, and Travin Wright, and sister Connie (Joe) Dembowski of Grand Island.

A veteran of the Korean War, from September 9th, 1953, to September 8th 1955 Carl courageously served his country and defended the values he held dear. After his military service, he returned home to his true calling as a hardworking farmer and rancher. Carl's dedication to the land and the livestock he cared for was unwavering. He toiled in the fields, nurturing the earth, and tending to his animals with a passion that reflected his love for nature.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and a deep connection to the land. Carl's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will endure in the love and memories he leaves behind.

Michael James Thiem, age 64, of North Platte, died October 14, 2023 at his home. &nbsp;He was born on June 10, 1959 in Kearney, NE to Thomas James “TJ” and Linda (Denman) Thiem.

Michael graduated from North Platte High School in 1977. &nbsp;He married Rachelle Carpenter in North Platte. To this union two children were born: Mathew and Jennifer. &nbsp;Mike started a career with Pepsi and worked there from 1981 until 1998. &nbsp;He started Great Plains Vending in 1999 and has operated it since. &nbsp;Mike enjoyed camping and hunting, especially with his close friend Tim Hinde. &nbsp;He was a football fan, especially for the Huskers. Mike was very social, and loved having a good time with his friends and family. &nbsp;He had a great appreciation for the people he worked with, too.

Barbara (Barb) Jean Vanarsdall, 78, passed away, October 14, 2023 at Linden Court in North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp;Barb was born on October 31, 1944 in North Platte, the daughter of Wilbert and Ingeborg (Carlson) Godfrey. &nbsp;

She graduated from Hershey High School with the class of 1963. &nbsp;After high school, she married John L. Vanarsdall on November 16, 1963 and lived north of Hershey. &nbsp;Together they built a beautiful life in the country. &nbsp;This union was blessed with four boys: Matthew (Mark), Robert (Scott), Daniel and James. &nbsp;Barb was known for her hard-work and dedication to raising her family. &nbsp;She maintained the family farm while John was away at work. &nbsp;Once the boys grew up, Barb worked outside the household in North Platte at Kmart for 10 years. Upon closing their doors, she later was employed by Hershey Public Schools as a custodian and in the cafeteria. &nbsp;Barb will always be remembered for her beautiful yard, lily pond and garden. &nbsp;She worked non-stop in her yard. &nbsp;If she didn’t have a shovel or a pair of trimmers in her hand, she would be planting flowers or pushing a lawn mower and she would have a smile on her face the entire time. &nbsp;If Barb was not working in her yard she was cooking in her kitchen. &nbsp;There was always room at her table for an unexpected guest. &nbsp;She could whip up a meal to feed an army at any moment. &nbsp;Her family and friends will always remember her for her famous cinnamon rolls and potato salad. &nbsp;In her spare time, she enjoyed time with her family and shopping with her sisters and nieces. &nbsp;Barb could “design-on-a-dime” and turn something old and broke into a masterpiece. &nbsp;She had a unique way of decorating and it always turned out beautiful. &nbsp;She had a heart of gold and never spoke ill of anyone. &nbsp;She always found the good in people.

Barbara "Barb" Jean Vanarsdall (1944-2023)

Virgil Walter Eggleston, (67), of Keystone, Nebraska, passed away on October 12, 2023, in Ogallala, Nebraska.

&nbsp;Virgil, fondly known as Rusty, was born to Russell and Peggy Eggleston on April 13, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois.&nbsp; Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to Federal Heights, Colorado, and later moved to Broomfield, Colorado, and then Lafayette, Colorado prior to settling in Montrose, Colorado.&nbsp; Virgil was a very talented athlete and set a state record in the one-mile run while on his high school track and field team.&nbsp; He also enjoyed playing basketball and football in high school.

Upon graduating from Montrose High School in 1974, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Signal Basic Operator and was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged in July 1977.&nbsp; After the Army, Virgil began his career as a food service delivery driver for Westman Commission Company.&nbsp; He later became a long-haul truck driver for Nations Way Transport before moving on to become a Fleet Safety Supervisor with Air Liquide America and Driver Trainer with Trans Service in Denver, Colorado before joining FedEx in Nebraska.&nbsp; He was proud to receive an award for over 4 million miles driven accident-free over the length of his career.

Virgil met his future wife, Susan Darlene Ward in July 1977.&nbsp; The two were wed on December 4, 1978, in Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; Of this union three children were born: Erika in February 1982, Angela in September 1985, and Ryan in February 1988.&nbsp; Virgil and Susan raised their family in Thornton, Colorado.&nbsp; Over the years their family had a tradition of spending their summers at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, where they created wonderful memories with friends.&nbsp; Once their children were grown, Virgil and Susan decided to relocate to Keystone, Nebraska.&nbsp; They finally got their “little piece of paradise” in Keystone.

In his free time, Virgil enjoyed fishing at Lake McConaughy with his wife, children, and grandchildren, elk hunting with his good friends, spending time with his family, poker nights with the guys, and big family barbeques.&nbsp; He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was adored by all who knew him.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Susan D. Eggleston; his children: Erika (Brian McDaniel) Eggleston, Angela (Scott) Young, Ryan (Ruby) Eggleston; his grandchildren: Kaitlyn Young, and Ryan Eggleston Jr.; his sister: Carolyn (Fred) Mueller; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his brother, Mother, and Father.

Mike was born on April 7, 1952 in Valentine, Nebraska to Michael and Elaine (Boardman) Higgins in Valentine, NE. He graduated from Thedford High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.

He married Mary Carlini and to this union two children were born. His biggest joy in his life were his two children: Nikita White and Frankie Higgins; they were his everything. He was incredible ornery and good, not always appropriate, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being able to help anyone in any way. And greeted each day with a kind smile.

He is survived by his children, Nikita White, Corpus Christi, TX and Frankie Higgins, Hastings, NE: sister, Tammi Hall, North Platte, NE and brother, Terry Higgins, Thedford, NE; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elaine Boardman.

Michael "Mike" H Higgins, Jr. (1952-2023)

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gale Callison Allen was born February 25, 1935 to Jack Albert and Dorothy Leona (Lyle) Allen on the family farm south of Cambridge, Nebraska.&nbsp; He attended grade school at three country schools around Cambridge.&nbsp; Gale attended high school in Cambridge, Edison, and Beaver City, where he graduated in 1952.&nbsp; He joined the United States Navy in 1955 and was honorably discharged in January of 1959.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gale was united in marriage to Janice Ruth McQuiety on August 16, 1959.&nbsp; To this union a daughter, Janice Elaine and a son, Anthony Gale were born.&nbsp; Gale worked at Robertson’s Chevrolet in Oxford for thirteen years until it closed.&nbsp; He was a mechanic for Robertson’s stockcar number 45.&nbsp; He worked at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege for thirteen years and was a substitute rural mail carrier while at B-D.&nbsp; Gale became a full-time rural mail carrier in 1985 and retired on February 25, 2000.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gale was a member of the Methodist Church in Beaver City and transferred to the Oxford United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Legion and had been a Jaycee.&nbsp; Gale served on the volunteer fire department and was an EMT.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gale liked to travel; he and Janice visited all fifty states and enjoyed cruising on ships with Tony and Jan and Dale.&nbsp; After retirement, he enjoyed golfing with the 1:00 PM group on weekdays.&nbsp; Late on Sunday afternoons, he would take Janice for a ride in the country to look for wildlife.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gale passed away at the Mount Carmel Home in Kearney, Nebraska on Friday, October 13, 2023.&nbsp; He was 88 years of age.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jimmy Carroll, Gerald Patrick, Robert Jack and wife, Georgia Mae, and Donald Albert and wife, Shirley Ann.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Janice; children, Janice “Jan” Cramer and husband, Dale Glen Cramer of Cambridge and Anthony “Tony” Allen of Oxford; grandsons, Jeremiah Quincy Wehland and Rachel Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona, Ryan Anthony Cramer of Cambridge, and Drew Richard Cramer and wife, Kimberly LiAnne of Cambridge; as well as his great-grandchildren, Irmina Zophia Cramer, Mason Allen, Elisabeth Jean, and Emmett Ward Cramer all of Cambridge.

Gale C. Allen (1935-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; I, William Rick Johnson, passed away on October 13, 2023, while feeling the warm embrace of all those who loved me.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; I was born to Bill and Jackie Johnson on July 16, 1954. My sister Debbie completed our family four years later. I led an idyllic childhood in McCook and somehow survived a reckless youth.

&nbsp; &nbsp; On August 28, 1986 Karmon Hohl (Felker) and I were married. This union completed my family with a wonderful wife and three children, a daughter and two sons: Dayle Johnson, Aaron Felker and Clint Johnson. We raised our new family on an acreage west of McCook. Love, kids, cats, dogs, horses, and flowers - it really doesn’t get better than that.

&nbsp; &nbsp; I was blessed with five grandchildren. Dayle married Brandon Laird and gave me Brohdy and Ghrey Laird. Aaron married Nen Felker (Sheahan) and gave me Jeremy, Isaiah and Gabriel Goertz. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; After college I ran my own farm and livestock business for just over 20 years. I then managed farms and sold Real Estate for Farmers National Co. for another two decades until I retired.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; I was preceded in death by my parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles and several first cousins.

&nbsp; &nbsp; The depth of my life was the unbearable loss of my daughter Dayle on Christmas Eve 2022.

&nbsp; &nbsp; At my mother’s clear direction, I have done the best I could to live according to the teachings of Jesus. So, I told Karmon, if such a place as Heaven exists, I’ll be there waiting for her.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Tyler Thiessen officiating. &nbsp;

William "Rick" Johnson (1954-2023)

Walter William “Walt” Pepper, aged 64, of North Platte, passed away on October 13, 2023, at his home in North Platte. &nbsp;On May 13, 1959, he was born to William Edward Pepper and Darlene Marie Osborn, the youngest of five and only boy, in San Antonio, TX.

As a child, Walt moved around frequently due to his father’s position in the military. &nbsp;He attended Tri Center High School near Neola, IA. &nbsp;After high school, Walt moved to Florida where he worked on the shrimp boats, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. &nbsp;He then attended a trade school to learn HVAC. &nbsp;He used this knowledge to work for Knobels in North Platte, where he moved to in 2010. &nbsp;Walt was always quiet and reserved, having a few very close friends that he would do anything for. &nbsp;He loved the ocean, hunting, and fishing. &nbsp;Those that knew him well, knew his fun personality, great sense of humor, and witty comebacks.

Survivors of Walt include his siblings, Linda Pace of Altamonte Springs, FL, Su Harper of North Platte, Kathy (Dan) Shea of North Platte, and Alyce Troll of Sioux Center, IA; 6 nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and nephews; other family.

Those preceding him in death are his parents, William and Darlene.

Walter "Walt" William Pepper (1959-2023)

On August 2, 2002, in Hastings, NE, Nick and Chantel Tonkinson were blessed with the first addition to their family of boys, Parker James Tonkinson. &nbsp;He came into the world with so many gifts and talents and his parents knew he would do great things. &nbsp;

 </figure>On August 2, 2002, in Hastings, NE, Nick and Chantel Tonkinson were blessed with the first addition to their family of boys, Parker James Tonkinson. &nbsp;He came into the world with so many gifts and talents and his parents knew he would do great things. &nbsp;One of these gifts was the art of storytelling. &nbsp;He loved to crawl up on people’s laps and ask for stories about dragons. &nbsp;Parker would then add his own twists and turns to it. &nbsp;Parker never wanted the dragon stories to end so he continued to ask, “what else?”. &nbsp;He loved movies and as a child, his favorite parts were the “coming soons”. &nbsp; He came up with his own names for things like a statue of a giraffe at his nana’s house he called “Buddy Buck” or his babies and blankets that he carried around everywhere.Parker was also blessed with his dad’s humor and wittiness; he loved to make people laugh. &nbsp;His silly side carried him through some of his stress and often helped those around him. &nbsp;He could often be found making his younger brothers the butt of his jokes.He was compassionate and loving. &nbsp;If you had the honor to be in Parker’s inner circle of friends and family, he loved so deeply. &nbsp;He watched out for those he loved and put their needs ahead of his own. &nbsp;Parker felt when people were hurting and wanted to make sure they were okay.Parker loved the outdoors; he loved to hunt and fish. &nbsp;The annual deer camp in November was something he looked forward to and spent weeks planning with his dad and brothers. &nbsp;He had several trophy deer in his apartment to show off to anyone who came around.Perhaps his greatest blessing was his talent for music. &nbsp;Parker was drawn to music at an early age. &nbsp;He could often be found in his car seat dancing to “I like the way you move” by Outkast. &nbsp;His love truly developed when he learned to play instruments; first, the trumpet, then the guitar, and self-taught piano. &nbsp;He was most recently learning to compose and put out original instrumentals. &nbsp;Parker earned several awards including superior ratings at All State Music and the Nebraska Young Artist Award given to only forty students in Nebraska.After graduating from North Platte High School in 2020, this talent led Parker to pursue his dream by auditioning for the Cornhusker marching band of which he was a member for one year. &nbsp;His love of music also led him to some of his most treasured friends.Parker’s loss will leave a void in so many people’s lives but most of all his three younger brothers: his companion for life, Caleb, 19; his target for all of his “big brother antics”, Blake, 16; and his brother who idolized him in every way, Gabriel, 13; his parents, Nick and Chantel, who will never fill the hole he leaves; his nana and papa, Kay and James Tonkinson, who supported his every adventure and endeavor; his grandma, Carmen Luellman, who spent many evenings telling dragon stories. &nbsp;He leaves behind a number of extended family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as numerous friends, teachers, and others who impacted his life.He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronald Tierney and Steve Luellman; and his great grandfather, James Ruberson.Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Jesse Dunn as officiant. &nbsp;Burial will follow in North Platte Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 12 PM to 7 PM with family present from 5 PM to 7 PM at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home. &nbsp;Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
