Gordon Allen Gosnell, 83, of Maxwell, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023 at North Platte Care Center.

Gordon was born on September 2, 1940 in Gothenburg, NE the son of Alfred and Maria (Madsen) Gosnell. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1958, and married Sandra Anne Lyon in North Platte on October 23, 1960. Gordon was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad as a pipefitter and retired as a supervisor in 2002. Along with railroading, Gordon bought a farm in 1977, and farmed and ranched up until just last year. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and car racing. His passion was racing pigeons, which he did for over 35 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte and inducted into the North Platte Bowling Hall of Fame.

Those left to cherish Gordon’s memory are his son, Chris (Amber) Gosnell of North Platte; grandson, Samuel Gosnell of North Platte; granddaughter, Juliet Gosnell of North Platte; brother, Alton (Marsha) Gosnell of North Platte; sister, Rojean (Darrell) Einspahr of North Platte; and numerous other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra; and a daughter, Mindy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte with Rev. Patrick Sipes officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 15th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the family for future designation.

Gordon Gosnell (1940-2023)

Virginia Rose Crook died at home on Sept. 25, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She passed surrounded by her loving daughter, Cathryn Collins, and son-in-law, Dennis Collins.

Virginia was born on Aug. 8, 1927, in Sutherland, to Harry Lee Sr. and Velma Joyce (Purdy) Coleman. She grew up with her brother, Harry Lee Jr., in the Sandhills of Nebraska. She would often tell stories of her childhood, one being of how Jr. would shield her from harsh weather while they would ride their horse to and from school.

When Virginia grew up she became a teacher and then a manager at the McDonald drive-up bank in North Platte. Faith has always been a pillar in the Crook family, raising all of their children in the church, sharing her love for God by playing organ and/or piano for church services for many years and teaching Sunday School which is where she met her future son-in-law, Dennis, when he was only 5 years old. She gave him his first Bible.

In 1945, she met Ronald Dean Crook and while it wasn’t love at first sight, they did end up living happily ever after with Dean passing away on their 65th anniversary. He was the love of her life and they had three children together: Rex, Mark and Cathryn.

Virginia lived a life that was full of faith, love and beauty. She was caring, and sweet, and would always bake copious amounts of goodies for the holidays. She filled her home with treasures and could play a great game of pinochle. She will be dearly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her and even more so by those who had the privilege to love her.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; and her son, Rex.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Becky) and Cathryn (Dennis); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jen (Zach and Lily); Ashley; son, Jordan (preceded in death); Katie; Cassie; Stephanie (Tony) and children; Jessica (John) and children; brother-in-law, Gary (Rosa) Crook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Inurnment is at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. The Springs Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Rose Crook (1927-2023)

Myron Lynn Reynolds, age 74, of Broken Bow died Monday October 9, 2023, at the Arbor Care Home in Fullerton, NE.

&nbsp;Myron Lynn Reynolds was born on January 9, 1949, at Sargent, NE to Verne and Helen (Hunt) Reynolds. &nbsp;Early in Myron’s childhood he lived in the Cliff Table region west of Merna, later moving to the Ortello Valley and the Merna Valley. &nbsp;Myron graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School in 1967. &nbsp;With the Vietnam War taking place during his high school years Myron chose to enlist prior to graduation. &nbsp;He attended basic training at the US Naval Training Center in California. He was sent to the Macon Delta River region of Vietnam. During his time in Vietnam, he was sprayed with “Agent Orange” and this product caused some major health problems later in his life. &nbsp;He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on November 14, 1969. &nbsp;Myron was proud to be recognized for his service during patriotic programs and observations such as Veterans Day.

Upon his return from Vietnam, he started farming with his father. &nbsp;Farming was his life. &nbsp;He loved raising corn, soybeans, cattle, and hogs. &nbsp;He farmed with his parents until 1991 and continued to farm till just 10 years ago. &nbsp;Myron loved to drive around and look at the crops and livestock. &nbsp;That gave him a lot of joy over the years. &nbsp; After retirement he drove a truck for Overton Sand and Gravel and even helped his son Kent with their trucking business. &nbsp;

In 1970, Myron met Beverly Petrick Allen and they were joined in marriage on August 29, 1970. &nbsp;Through this marriage, Myron gained two sons, Scott (3 years old) and Todd (18 months old). &nbsp;He adopted these little boys and always treated them like they were his very own. &nbsp;Myron and Beverly had another son, Kent, in December of 1972. &nbsp;They continued to raise their family around agriculture, living west of Merna from 1972 until 2000. &nbsp;Moving to the new farm home east of Gates in 2000, this remained their forever home. &nbsp;

Myron was blessed with five grandsons and two granddaughters. &nbsp;He was always delighted when they stopped by to visit and enjoyed holiday gatherings with all present. &nbsp;He particularly enjoyed their sporting events and tried to attend most of them. &nbsp;

Myron and Bev enjoyed traveling. &nbsp;Whether this was family ski trips to Colorado to visit cousins, or Amtrack train rides to Michigan to see other cousins. &nbsp;A trip that none of the family will forget was when Myron and Bev took the whole family to Phoenix, AZ in 1995 to watch the Huskers stomp the Gators. &nbsp;Myron and Bev had season tickets to the Huskers for 45 years. &nbsp;Myron loved his Huskers but wasn’t afraid to cuss them out when deemed necessary. &nbsp;They also enjoyed trips to time shares in Palm Desert, CA, and Hawaii. &nbsp;This allowed them to get together with family members and “just have a good time telling stories and reminiscing with family and friends”!

Myron always enjoyed the Nebraska One Box Pheasant Hunt. &nbsp;Myron and Bev have helped host many teams over the years. &nbsp;He gained many dear friends through this event. &nbsp;Being a Past Shooter Guide for the hunt, he was able to refresh those friendships every year. &nbsp;

Being around people and having fun was always a priority for Myron. Whether you wanted to talk agriculture, Husker Football, grandkids … he was ready to stop and talk. Myron relished friends, both old and new.

Myron is survived by his wife Beverly of Gates: sons Scott (Elizabeth) Reynolds of Ansley, Todd (Lori) Reynolds of Broken Bow, and Kent Reynolds of Broken Bow, grandsons are Austin Reynolds, (fiancé Ellie) of Broken Bow, Dylan Reynolds (fiancé Gabi) of Fayetteville, AR, Grant Reynolds of Hays, KS, Cash Reynolds of Norfolk, and Nathan Reynolds of Broken Bow, granddaughters are Brittany Reynolds (Kylen Thompson) of Anselmo and Lauren Reynolds (Cole Ulmer) of Broken Bow. Also surviving is sister Karen (Jerry) Safranek of Merna, other family includes cousins, nieces, and nephews and he will be missed by a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 13, 2023, at 4:00 pm at the One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Broken Bow Cemetery. Myron Reynolds (1949-2023)

Gary Lee Glendy, the youngest son of William (Bill) and Elsie (Pflaster) Glendy was born September 29th, 1946, in Broken Bow, NE. Gary grew up on the Glendy Ranch near Pressy Park gaining his love and knowledge for the cattle and hills from his father Bill, Grandpa LO, and Uncle Elden. He attended Tuckerville school north of Oconto up to the 8th grade and graduated from Oconto High School in 1965. Gary attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln majoring in Agronomy. Gary was a member of the Tuckerville 4-H club, forming many lasting friendships while Range Judging and as part of the Custer County Square Dance team. Gary was very active in Custer County 4-H participating in Junior Leaders, showing Hereford cattle, South Down sheep, and was crowned Custer County 4-H King in 1965. Sports were a big part of Gary's life from playing short stop with the Broken Bow Junior Legion, playing men's soft ball, and coaching the Oconto Ladies softball team. Gary was an avid horseshoe player winning the championship horseshoe tournament at UNL. He was a walking encyclopedia of baseball and football statistics. Gary loved music and had an extensive library of cassette tapes, CD s, and iPod songs. He documented 385 songs that he had performed by memory. He spent countless hours playing accordion and singing with Ram Rods, Blue Stem, and the South Loup Sunrise at gigs throughout Nebraska. He was able to travel with friends to Washington DC, Washington State, Branson, and Colorado which became cherish able memories to him. Gary married Donna Van Cleave Glendy on July 15th, 1985, and became a part of her children, Brian, Brenda, and Layne's lives.

Gary was an avid historian and worked extensively on his family genealogy. He was very active in the Seven Valley's historical society and spent countless hours documenting over 10 thousand graves throughout the southwest corner of Custer County. He wrote a book about the Oconto Cemetery called End of the Trail. Gary loved a good card game and playing cribbage, pitch, canasta, and jokers with anyone who had a free minute. Often beating them.

Gary peacefully passed from this life on October 6th, 2023, at his home east of Callaway. Leaving behind his wife Donna, children, Brian Glendy (Suzanne), Layne Glendy, and Brenda Still (Richard), grandsons Logan Glendy (McKayla Bacon), Colter Glendy, and Marshall Still (Mykelsi), granddaughters Rebecca Eggleston (Wyatt), Kalie Glendy, and Emalee Glendy (Zach Warnken). great granddaughters Esmae and Etta Eggleston, and great grandson Tripp Glendy.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Bill (2002) and Elsie (2006) Glendy, brother Jerry Glendy (1978), in laws Harlen (1996) and Alice (2010) Van Cleave, and great granddaughter Eden August Eggleston (2021).

Gary Glendy (1946-2023)

John Less age 79 of Broken Bow, NE passed away October 6, 2023, at his home in Broken Bow.

John Francis Less was born December 27, 1943, in Cascade, Iowa to Henry and Johanna (McDermott) Less.

John served his country in the US Army from December 18, 1961, to December 19, 1947.

John married Kay Wilson in 1966. To this union three children were born: Randy, Rhonda, and Stacey. The couple divorced in 1983. After his divorce John moved to Kearney and worked for Broadfoot as a gravel crusher. This is where John met Carolyn Barthel. John also worked for Liman Ritchie in Grand Island.

April 15, 1993, John was united in marriage to Carolyn Barthel in Las Vegas, NV. John gained two stepsons Kalin and Brian Barthel. The couple made their home in Kearney until 2001, then moved to Worms, where John helped at the Fonner Park Racetrack with track maintenance, John always had horses and loved them. In July of 2022 the couple moved to Broken Bow. John was a big part of the family. He took exceptionally good care of Carolyn and was a good many who was loved by all.

John is survived by wife Carolyn Barthel of Broken Bow, children Randy Less, Rhonda, Less, and Stacey Less, stepson Kalin Bathel of Farmers Branch, TX, brother Henry Less, Jr. and sister Ann.

John was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Johanna Less, stepson Brian Barthel, two brothers Raymond Less and Joey Less.

John Less (1943-2023)

On October 7, 2023, Shirley Mae Sylvan, of Brady, NE, passed away at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 79. &nbsp;The daughter of LeRoy and Violet (Gosnell) Gage, Shirley was born on February 23, 1944, in Maxwell, NE.

On July 21, 1962, Shirley was wed to Leo Sylvan; they spent over 61 years of marriage together. &nbsp;To this union, three children were born, Sue, Loren, and Nancy. &nbsp;The couple lived North of Gothenburg until 1997 and then moved to Brady, where they resided until her passing. &nbsp;Shirley worked various jobs throughout her life but she most enjoyed being a caregiver.&nbsp; Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.&nbsp; Roses were her favorite flower and her home was always decorated during the Christmas season. &nbsp;Shirley gave her life to the Lord at a young age and stayed committed to Him for the entirety of her life. &nbsp;

Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her husband, Leo; children, Sue (Ron) Coles, Loren (Heather) Sylvan, Nancy (Federico) Garcia; grandchildren, Kristina Buhrman, Jeff (Jamie) Buhrman, Tiffany Gleason, Logan Sylvan, Dalton Sylvan, Cameron (MaKenna) Sylvan, Brandon Sylvan, and Ernesto Rodriguez; six great grandchildren, Peyton and Peysley Buhrman, Stella and Charlotte Buhrman, Easton Sylvan, and Byn Sylvan; brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Gage; sister, Donna (Everett) Hunt; numerous other family members and friends.

Shirley Mae Sylvan (1944-2023)

Wilma J. Tackett, 69, of North Platte, was promoted to glory on October 6, 2023 at Great Plains Health.

Wilma was born March 25, 1954 to William and Geraldine Gilbert in North Platte. &nbsp;She grew up with her seven siblings, attending school in North Platte and graduating in 1972. &nbsp; The Gilbert family was proudly involved with the Salvation Army Church, which influenced Wilma’s life, and after graduation, she continued her work within the church volunteering. &nbsp;During this time, Wilma met the love of her life, Richard, who also volunteered with the church, and the couple married in 1974. &nbsp;They then started their new life together in Rapid City, South Dakota where Richard was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. &nbsp;After Richard’s time with the Air Force ended, the couple relocated to North Platte, and were blessed with two wonderful children: Joanna and Nathan.

Because of her devotion to the Salvation Army, Wilma began working there as a part-time janitor, continuing to volunteer during her free time. &nbsp;She loved teaching others and sharing her love of Jesus, but nothing compared to her devotion to her family. &nbsp;Wilma was often found crafting, in front of her sewing machine, or quilting. &nbsp;She and Richard enjoyed bowling, volleyball, watching football together, and of course, numerous church events. &nbsp;Eventually Wilma worked her way up to a full-time employee with the church, helping with bookkeeping, human resources, and various office duties. &nbsp;She remained working there more than 30 years, retiring in 2019.

Wilma was a quiet, yet strong woman, battling numerous health issues all her life, but never allowing them to stop her. &nbsp;She will always be remembered for the countless lives she impacted.

Wilma was proceeded in death by her parents; infant brother, Johnathan; infant daughter, Joanna; beloved husband, Richard, in 2015; sister, Christine; and in-laws, Walter and Imogene. &nbsp; She is survived by son, Nathan (Jennifer) of North Platte; granddaughter, Cydney Spady of Lexington; siblings, Dennis Gilbert (Sharon) of Ft. Worth, TX, Margaret Kaczmarek of Omaha, Dave Gilbert (Jeanie) of North Platte, Charlene Nicholas (Perry) of Hershey, Tom Gilbert (Becky) of North Platte, and Shirlene Smith (Randy) of North Platte, and hundreds of nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family, and friends.

&nbsp; Dorothy Irene Blomstedt peacefully passed away on October 8, 2023, at the age of 90, at her son's home in Hershey surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on the Birdwood Table, northwest of Hershey, to Edward and Coral (Refior) Godfrey on May 22, 1933.&nbsp; She grew up and attended school in North Platte and then got married. On May 22, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edward Blomstedt at Julesburg, CO.&nbsp; They lived south of Tryon for three years, south of Dickens for 26 years, then moved south of North Platte in 1978.&nbsp; After Edward died in 1999, Dorothy bought a house in North Platte then sold it a few years later and moved into Autumn Park. Dorothy was a ranch wife and raised four sons.&nbsp; She was on the Lakeview School Board, near Dickens, for many years, worked at the Thrift Center from 1988-2021, and worked at a day care in North Platte. Dorothy was devoted to her family and her Savior.&nbsp; She loved crafts, flowers, puppies, kittens and beautiful things and was a member of Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene.&nbsp; Dorothy had a special place in her heart for service to others. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Earl Grover; and sister-in-law, "Marty" Godfrey. Dorothy Irene Blomstedt (1933-2023)

Paul St. John, age 80 of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Paul was born February 21, 1943, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Robert “Ole” and Edna (Passage) St. John. He attended school in Lexington and graduated with the class of 1961.&nbsp;Paul attended Kearney State College where he received an associate's degree in business.

On May 16th, 1964, he was united in marriage to Laraine Trew from Cumro, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Lexington, Nebraska where they raised their three children: Kelly, Kim, and Scott.

Paul enjoyed a 43-year tenure at Union Pacific Railroad where he was a Clerk. Along with his railroad career, he and his wife Laraine owned a cleaning service that they continued until 2008 when they retired and moved to Kearney. Paul continued to work various jobs throughout his retirement, primarily at Railcrew Xpress, driving railroad crews to areas around Nebraska.

Throughout their younger years, Paul, and Laraine, along with their children, enjoyed spending weekends and summers at their cabin at Johnson Lake, where Paul taught his children how to water ski and ride dirt bikes. He was a man of many words, and always had a new joke or story to tell friends as well as complete strangers. &nbsp;In conservations with those he knew or just met, Paul was happiest when he could offer up a book that would match that person’s interests or needs.&nbsp;

He spent countless hours at the library where he would read every available newspaper.&nbsp; He was an avid reader, with specific interests in historical events and finances.&nbsp; Outside of his family, Paul’s all-time favorite way to spend time was to enjoy coffee with his friends, where he would discuss local and world current events. &nbsp;Paul always had a place in his heart to help his family and others in need who were experiencing challenging times in their life.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Ole” and Edna; older brother, Gerald “Jake”; half-sister, LaRae; and son, Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Laraine of Kearney; daughter Kelly (Mike) Forde of Dallas, Texas; daughter Kim (Rick) Sheldon of Kearney; daughter in-law Shelley St. John of Omaha; sister in-law Imogene St. John of Kearney and his grandchildren: Bryce (April) St. John of Lincoln; Nichole and Brandon Sheldon of Kearney; Parker and Kaden Forde of Dallas and great grandchildren: Finn, Charlie, Oscar, and Oliver, all of Lincoln.

A service will be held to remember Paul’s life on October 10th, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating.&nbsp; Paul will be cremated and buried at Greenwood cemetery. Coffee reception to follow at Kirk’s Nebraskaland Restaurant.

Paul St. John (1943-2023)

Wesley Dean Kohl, Jr., 53 of North Platte, Nebraska passed away October 5, 2023 at his home in North Platte surrounded by his loved ones. &nbsp;He was born October 13, 1969, to Wesley Kohl Sr., and Lillian Herbst, in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Wes grew up in North Platte. &nbsp;He moved to California where he married Frankie and worked for Simon Trucking. &nbsp;Then he moved back to North Platte where he worked for Bridge Street Auto as manager. &nbsp;Wes enjoyed his job there. &nbsp;In 2005 Wes was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Guerra. &nbsp;He loved and lived for her. &nbsp;Wes loved watching football, fishing and playing pool. He was a member of the Eagles Club. &nbsp;Family time on Sundays was always a special time. &nbsp;He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. &nbsp;Spending time with them was what he loved to do.

Wes is survived by his wife, Mary, North Platte; mother, Lillian Kohl, North Platte; children, Sam, Wes (Natalie) Kohl, III, Heather (Ryan), Alyssa (John), Angel (Daniel), Ashtyn (Carlos); grandchildren, Annalisia, Travis, Leah, Myah, Kristina, Tre, Dallas, Emily, Xavier, Isabella, Haylee, Andre, Isaiah; siblings, Brad, Fred (Chris), Shawn; along with many other family members and friends. &nbsp;

 </figure>Wesley Dean Kohl, Jr., 53 of North Platte, Nebraska passed away October 5, 2023 at his home in North Platte surrounded by his loved ones. &nbsp;He was born October 13, 1969, to Wesley Kohl Sr., and Lillian Herbst, in Bowling Green, Ohio.Wes grew up in North Platte. &nbsp;He moved to California where he married Frankie and worked for Simon Trucking. &nbsp;Then he moved back to North Platte where he worked for Bridge Street Auto as manager. &nbsp;Wes enjoyed his job there. &nbsp;In 2005 Wes was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Guerra. &nbsp;He loved and lived for her. &nbsp;Wes loved watching football, fishing and playing pool. Wesley Dean Kohl Jr. (1969-2023)

Larry Malcom, 83, of Cozad, Nebraska, died October 5, 2023 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE with family by his side. &nbsp;

He was born on February 13th, 1940, in Custer County north of Cozad, NE, to Arven Sr. and Alice (Melstrom) Malcom. &nbsp;After graduating from Cozad High School, Larry worked for a plumbing company in Cozad and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. &nbsp;On November 27th, 1965, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Yvonne Thomalla in Gothenburg, NE. &nbsp;Larry and Carolyn established Malcom Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, and he was self-employed as owner for decades until his retirement in the early 2000s.

Larry was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. &nbsp;He was a hardworking and generous man with a great sense of humor. &nbsp;Although he was a man of few words, words spoken were ones that were important. &nbsp;He had a gentle, quiet spirit and a contagious laugh. &nbsp;Those who spent time with Larry enjoyed his jokes along with his frequent humming, and occasional singing of country music tunes.

Larry enjoyed reading, music, card club, spending time with family, visiting Fonner Park, having coffee with friends and helping family with home renovations. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Cozad. Larry's children have fond memories of time spent with him going sledding in the hills north of Cozad, &nbsp;pheasant hunting, boating and skiing, going to rodeos, bike riding, going for walks, &nbsp;attending family gatherings, playing board games, enjoying checkers and ping pong matches, having lots of family pets, and going on family vacations to Colorado, South Dakota, and Kansas. He was a wonderful dad and family-oriented man.

Larry is survived by his children Billie Jo (Steven) Schrad and their children Sydney and Mallory Schrad of Omaha; Angela (Kurt) Fessler and their children Logan and Matthew Fessler of Lincoln; Tony (Norma) Malcom and their children Natalie and Westyn Malcom of Cozad; Jerry (Katie) Malcom and their children Carter, of Avondale, AZ, and Brooklyn (Logan) Stewart of Cedar Bluffs; one great-grandson (Callan) of Cedar Bluffs; sisters Rachel Loyd of Lincoln; LaDonna Williams of Wichita, KS; Joanne Peden of Cozad; brothers Arven Malcom Jr., of Cozad and Dennis (Sheila) Malcom of Callaway; sister-in-law Deb Malcom of Callaway, along with many extended family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, &nbsp;his parents, Arven Sr. and Alice Malcom, and his brother Dave Malcom.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 4:00 - 6:00 PM, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 Tenth St, Gothenburg, NE, with the family present.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023, 10:00 AM , at Christ the King Catholic Church, 613 W 13th St, Cozad, NE with Fr. Joseph Ravi as celebrant.

Burial will follow at the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Larry Malcom (1940-2023)

Kathleen Ann Sullivan (Kathy) passed away at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE, on Friday, September 29, 2023, after a short illness.

She was born December 13, 1959, in Grant to William and Mary Alyce Sullivan of Wallace, NE.

Throughout her life, Kathy enjoyed listening to music, eating different foods, and touching and feeling different textures. Even though Kathy was non-verbal, she didn't hesitate to let you know how she was feeling, whether she was happy or disliked something.

Because of Kathy's disability of being profoundly physically and mentally handicapped, her siblings' lives were shaped as they were growing up. She was the middle of five children, and she taught them patience, compassion for others, humility, and never taking anything for granted.

They are so happy to have a saint praying for them in heaven.

Kathy is survived by her siblings, Mary Therese (Doug) Carey, and Loretta Beals, all of Lincoln, William (Marianne) Sullivan of Imperial, &amp; Noreen (Robert) Placek of Alliance, Aunt Donna Sullivan, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Doug Beals.

Kathleen Sullivan (1959-2023)

Wesley Earl Cooley was born to Wilber and Louise (Wright) Cooley in Imperial, Nebraska, on June 27, 1943.&nbsp; He passed away on October 3, 2023, in Coweta, Oklahoma, at the age of 80.

Wes spent the first ten years of his life on a farm in the Hiawatha Community in Dundy County, Nebraska. Wes moved with his parents to a farm east of Lincoln, Nebraska, in March 1953.&nbsp; He graduated in 1961 from University High School.&nbsp; Wes received his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1966.

On August 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Oelke of Brock, Nebraska.&nbsp; Three children were born to this union – Trina LaRae Yoder of Coweta, OK, Dianna Jane Cooley of Bartlesville, OK, and Tonya Louise Mason of Skiatook, OK.

Upon earning his Bachelor of Science in Education, Wes and his family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where he taught cabinet making and Vocational Home Building.&nbsp; In 1968, Wes accepted an Auto Mechanics teaching position in North Platte, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

In June of 1975, Wes and his family moved to Imperial, Nebraska, to the Wilber Cooley home place.&nbsp; The Cooley family operated the agricultural and livestock operation until the sale of the family farm in January 1991.&nbsp; Wes also spent much of his time coaching boys' high school basketball with Danny Lenners, where he impacted students’ lives.&nbsp; Wes served as a board member on the Chase County High School Board of Education.&nbsp; He also worked numerous hours teaching Sunday School Classes at Eden Missionary Church in Wauneta, NE.&nbsp; He also served as the youth director at the Benkelman Friends Church in Benkelman, NE.&nbsp;

In January 1992, Wes and his family moved to Olathe, KS, where he purchased rental property.&nbsp; While in Kansas, Wes attended Kansas University to obtain his Kansas teaching certificate.&nbsp; He taught Driver’s Education at Blue Valley School in Overland Park, KS.&nbsp; Wes and Mary also involved themselves in a small mowing business, which somewhat helped, them make the adjustment from farm and ranch living to city living.&nbsp; In 1998, Wes sold the rental property and moved to Branson, Missouri, where he built a log cabin on Table Rock Lake.&nbsp; Wes enjoyed hosting many families at the log cabin.&nbsp; His highlight while living in Branson, MO, was a small chauffeur business.&nbsp; During that time, Wes met many people from all walks of life and received joy in ministering and fellowship with them.&nbsp;

Wes Cooley was a member of the Skyline Baptist Church in Branson, MO where the message of the Lord Jesus Christ was preached and taught.&nbsp; Wes took part in many parts of the church through coaching Upward Basketball, Bible School, and being a host. &nbsp;He loved all the people he met, especially the children and young people.

Wes is preceded in death by his parents Wilber and Louise Cooley, sister Vivian Johnson, brother Burdette Cooley, and great niece Jessica Cooley.&nbsp; Wes is survived by his three daughters Trina Yoder (Mark), Dianna Cooley, and Tonya Mason (Steve);&nbsp; brother Claire Cooley (Linda) sister Laura Renollet, and sister-in-law Pat Cooley;&nbsp; six grandchildren Daniel and Timothy Gleason, Cody and Jake Odden (Samantha), Danielle Hartzler (JC), and Abby Mason;&nbsp; two great-grandchildren Emerie and Millie Odden;&nbsp; along with many nephews, nieces, and numerous friends.&nbsp;

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Real Life Church in Hollister, MO.

Chester Harold Tridle Jr., age 80, of North Platte, passed away on October 5, 2023, at Great Plains Health. &nbsp;He was born to Chester Harold and Lucille (Razes) Tridle Sr. on January 9, 1943, in North Platte.

Chester spent his entire life in North Platte, receiving his GED in 1961, just before enlisting in the United States Air Force. &nbsp;He served our country for four years before discharging in 1966. &nbsp;On May 13, 1966, he was married to Louise LeDroit in North Platte. &nbsp;The couple had two sons, James Leroy and Ronald Lee. Chester then hired on at the Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist. &nbsp;He worked in this position for 38 years and retired in 2003. &nbsp;

He was an outdoorsman to the core, enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting. &nbsp;He was well liked by many of his coworkers at the railroad. &nbsp;Chester was always quiet and mild mannered until one of his morals were crossed. &nbsp;He was most proud of his service in the Air Force. &nbsp;Chester was a volunteer fireman in North Platte for 20 years and he helped establish and participated in the first Fire Rescue Dive Team.

Those surviving Chester includes his wife, Louise of North Platte; children, James “Jim” Tridle of North Platte and Ronald Tridle of Fremont; grandkids, Marilese (Troy) Robertson of Trenton, MO, Brooke, Ashtyn, and Hunter Tridle all of Omaha; brother, Larry (Susie) Tridle of Omaha; several nieces, nephews, and other family.

Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Patricia Speck, Robert Tridle, and Marilyn Funk.

Chester H. Tridle Jr. (1943-2023)

Cindy Joanne (McEntee) Blaesi, 74, of Maxwell, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 following a battle with brain cancer at Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte.

Cindy was born on July 11, 1949 in Stapleton, NE the daughter of Dennis E. and Phyllis I. (Haines) McEntee.

Cindy graduated from North Platte high school and was married on June 7, 1970 in North Platte to Larry Howard Blaesi. &nbsp;Together they had a son and a daughter. &nbsp;Cindy worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years. &nbsp;She loved cooking, gardening, Husker sports, and everyone’s children. &nbsp;Cindy also looked forward to riding her 4-wheeler and exploring the family ranch near Maxwell. &nbsp;Cindy loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Cindy’s memory are her son, Scott Blaesi of Maxwell; daughter, Michelle Nelson of Gretna; grandchildren, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Evelyn, and Zarah Blaesi, Jacob, and Jesse Nelson; great grandson, Remington Blaesi; and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, and by her six siblings.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. &nbsp;A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;Burial will follow at a later date in Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. &nbsp;Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The family requests that plants be sent in her memory, if desired, since Cindy loved live plants and gardening.

(Haines) McEntee.Cindy graduated from North Platte high school and was married on June 7, 1970 in North Platte to Larry Howard Blaesi. &nbsp;Together they had a son and a daughter. &nbsp;Cindy worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years. &nbsp;She loved cooking, gardening, Husker sports, and everyone’s children. &nbsp;Cindy also looked forward to riding her 4-wheeler and exploring the family ranch near Maxwell. &nbsp;Cindy loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.Those left to cherish Cindy’s memory are her son, Scott Blaesi of Maxwell; daughter, Michelle Nelson of Gretna; grandchildren, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Evelyn, and Zarah Blaesi, Jacob, and Jesse Nelson; great grandson, Remington Blaesi; and many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, and by her six siblings.The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. &nbsp;A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;Burial will follow at a later date in Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. &nbsp;Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.The family requests that plants be sent in her memory, if desired, since Cindy loved live plants and gardening.

Dean Jensen of North Platte passed away at Bryan West in Lincoln on October 3, 2023, at age 81.

Dean, the son of Carl and Mary Jensen, was born June 29, 1942, in Gothenburg, where he grew up. &nbsp;He attended country school, then went on to graduate from Gothenburg High School. &nbsp;In March 1964, Dean enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served until July 1968. &nbsp;

While still in the Navy, Dean married Margaret Campbell on November 11, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in North Platte. &nbsp;They lived in Long Beach, CA, then returned to North Platte following his discharge.&nbsp;

Dean worked in the Press Room at the North Platte Telegraph before hiring on at the Gerald Gentleman Station as a Control Room Operator. &nbsp;He worked there until retiring.

Dean was a member of the American Legion. &nbsp;He enjoyed fishing, gardening, Big Red Football, and NASCAR racing. &nbsp;He loved making salsa and earned the name "Jalapeno Deano" for his creations. &nbsp;Dean also loved the 4th of July and would host friends and family for a big 4th of July block party.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Dean is survived by his daughters, Kristi Smith of Omaha and Kari Jensen of North Platte; granddaughters, Kaitlin and Chloe Smith; his sister, Rochelle (Ralph) Jung of Colorado; brothers, Brad Jensen of Colorado and Doug Jensen of Cozad; as well as other family.

Lyle David “Dave” Brunkhorst, age 58, of Mitchell, Nebraska, passed away at home on October 1, 2023.&nbsp; Cremation was chosen and there will be no public services at this time.&nbsp; 

Dave was born January 19, 1965, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, the son of Lyle and Verna Dell (Aunspaugh) Brunkhorst. 

He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the Class of 1983.&nbsp; He married the love of his life, Melody Lee on January 20, 1995. 

A lifelong truck driver, Dave spent many years traveling the country and took scenic routes any chance he got. In his off time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycles and taking trips to the Black Hills with his friends. 

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Melody Brunkhorst; parents, Lyle and Verna Brunkhorst; and brothers Mark and Mike Brunkhorst. 

Dave is survived by his daughter, Danielle (Jereme); grandkids Elliott and Isla Smith; three nephews, Wayne (Amanda) Brunkhorst, Cassie Brunkhorst, and Nick (Brittanie) Brunkhorst; niece, Desiree (Ben) Sidders; sister-in-law, Paula Brunkhorst, and great friends Jim (Deb) Sanders.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lyle David “Dave” Brunkhorst (1965 - 2023)

&nbsp; Scott Russell Wiese passed away on September 30, 2023 at the age of 68. He was born to his parents, Lyle and Esther Wiese, on August 1, 1955, in Pierce, Nebraska. He was raised in the Norfolk, Nebraska, area and attended Christ Lutheran Parochial school until age 10. In 1965, Scott and his family moved to Benkelman, Nebraska, where he would forge lasting friendships and lay the foundation for his future endeavors.

Scott grew up and attended school in Benkelman and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1973. In the early years following high school, he tried his hand at several different professions. Scott worked as a ranch and farm hand on Verle Raichart Ranch, served as the County Weed Control Officer, and even a part-time sheriff's deputy for a short time. His unique path led him to graduate from Missouri Auctioneer School in 1976, earning him the honorary title of "Colonel." He worked with his family at the Benkelman sale barn, where he served as the auctioneer for several years.

On August 23, 1975, Scott married his wife, Debra Neitzel. Their union blessed them with three sons and a daughter. When the Wiese family retired from the Sale Barn, Scott used his experience working on the Raichart Ranch to start a hog farm and a custom haying business. When the market shifted, Scott and Deb refocused their efforts solely on “Wiese Hay.” This endeavor became a true family business in every sense of the term, with Scott, Deb, and their children working hand in hand. Deb would always be right by Scott’s side, doing almost everything together. Their names would become almost synonymous because if you said one of their names, you normally said the other. As the children grew, so did their responsibility in the hay farming business. It wouldn’t be uncommon to see Scott and his family driving machinery all over Dundy County to tend to the fields they would be working. If you saw Scott working, odds were you would see him with his kids and Deb. Scott instilled his own personality traits in his family, raising his children to have determination and a strong work ethic.

In 1991, Scott and Deb purchased land from Roy Miller, and in 2005, he expanded his farm ground by acquiring John Snyder's land after his passing. This fulfilled Scott’s dream of being a substantial landowner and farmer. Summers were always busy farming, and he dedicated his time to delivering bales to clients during the winters. Scott took great pride in his truck, which became a symbol of his dedication and hard work. Scott also collaborated with his friend, Dr. Tom Noffsinger, to establish S&amp;T Cattle Company, where they ran a profitable cow/calf operation on the farm.

Scott's focus was always on his farm. He never ventured far away, but he was passionate about his hobbies. He truly loved fishing and always looked forward to the yearly dove hunt with his boys. Scott also had a genuine passion for engaging in conversations and will forever be remembered as a captivating storyteller. Rarely did a morning pass without him joining the local coffee crew in town for a cup of coffee and some “story time.”

Scott is survived by his brothers, Rod, Larry, Brad, Kip, and his sister, Bonnie Willis. He also leaves behind his wife Deb, son Gavin (friend Jennifer, granddaughters Hailey and Hannah), son Jason (daughter-in-law Lindsay, grandson Brody and granddaughter Alexandra), daughter Jill (son-in-law Brent DeLong, granddaughters McKenzlie, Brooklyn, and Holly), and son Jared (grandson Jadyn and Axel, and granddaughter Adison) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-laws, Trudy and Sherri Wiese.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 5 from 5:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M (Mountain Time) at Benkelman Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 6, at 10:30 A.M. (Mountain Time) at Zion Lutheran Church with Jim Gleason officiating. Interment to follow at Benkelman Cemetery. Scott Russell Wiese (1955-2023)

On October 1, 2023, Eric Joseph Burke, passed away at his home in North Platte. &nbsp;The son of Joseph Kent and Jill Lynne (Hannan) Burke, he was born on September 21, 1980, in North Platte, NE.

Eric was raised in North Platte, graduating from North Platte High School in 1999. &nbsp;He started dating long time friend, Reina Vieyra, in 2001. &nbsp;They were married on July 5, 2008, and welcomed three kids from their union: Jazlyn, Tyler, and Beckyt. &nbsp;Eric worked briefly in construction before suffering from a stroke at the young age of 21. &nbsp;He was a stay-at-home dad, enjoying every second he was given to spend with his kids; his children were his soft spot. &nbsp;He was heavily involved in their events and activities, he became a “soccer dad”, and even coached several of Tyler’s football teams.

Eric was full of life and laughter; he was always telling jokes and was always loud. &nbsp;He was an adrenaline junkie to the core and loved living life on the edge. &nbsp;Eric enjoyed any activity that involved the outdoors from football and BMX to dune buggies and camping. &nbsp;He was also a lover of music, if Eric was there, music was playing and he was singing. &nbsp;He had a special love for not only his children, but also for his grandmother, Gloria, and his dogs, Debo and Jax. &nbsp;Eric marched to his own beat and loved with intensity.

Eric J Burke (1980-2023)

Gary Lee Farmer, 77, of North Platte, Nebraska passed October 2, 2023 at his daughter’s home in North Platte. &nbsp;He was born April 26, 1946 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Eldon and Mary (Powers) Farmer. &nbsp;

Gary graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1964. &nbsp;He entered the US Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam. &nbsp;Gary was united in marriage to June Paxton on November 13, 1971. The couple lived in North Platte where Gary started his career with the Postal Service, where he worked for 28 years. &nbsp;After his retirement he continued working for a contract mail service. Gary was very family-oriented, especially favoring his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. &nbsp; He loved animals especially his horse, Fancy and her mother Cindy, along with his pup, Charlie.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; parents-in-law, Von (May) Paxton; sister-in-law, Bess Aupperle, niece, Sheila Shafer; brother-in-law, Leonard Pyzer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Bethel Church, North Platte, Nebraska with Pastor Geoff Safford officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow the service at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. &nbsp;There will be a luncheon served at the church following the burial. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M.- 7, with family receiving friends from 5-7, Thursday, October 5 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home who is assisting the family.

 </figure>Gary Lee Farmer, 77, of North Platte, Nebraska passed October 2, 2023 at his daughter’s home in North Platte. &nbsp;He was born April 26, 1946 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Eldon and Mary (Powers) Farmer. &nbsp;Gary graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1964. &nbsp;He entered the US Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam. &nbsp;Gary was united in marriage to June Paxton on November 13, 1971. The couple lived in North Platte where Gary started his career with the Postal Service, where he worked for 28 years. &nbsp;After his retirement he continued working for a contract mail service.
