&nbsp;Susan Lake, 63,&nbsp; of Grant, Nebraska, died June 1, 2023 after a long battle with ongoing health issues at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney,&nbsp;

&nbsp;Susan was born on October 17, 1959 to William and Rosemary (Maifski) Sauer in Ogallala.&nbsp; Susan&nbsp; graduating from Ogallala High School&nbsp; in 1979, she went on to marry Lionel Brown and they welcomed three children: Nicholas, Erica and Amber Brown. On September 3, 1988 she remarried to Karl Lake in Ogallala, NE, where they welcomed a son: Taylor Lake.&nbsp;

Due to health issues, Susan retired and spent her time camping, gardening, spending time with friends and cherishing time with her beloved family, children and grandchildren. Her phone calls and presence will forever be missed.&nbsp;

Susan was preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter Amber Brown in 2022, brother Eric in 2023 and grandson Cooper Brown in 2014.

&nbsp;She is survived by Husband Karl of Grant, daughter Erica Brown of Crete, NE, sons Nicholas (Tonya) Brown of Ogallala, Taylor (Natasha) Lake of Lincoln, NE.&nbsp; One brother Rob (Judy) Sauer , 2 sisters Julie (Bill) Christensen, Cheryl Carter all of Ogallala, and 9 Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2023 9am - 6pm at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel. &nbsp; &nbsp;Rosary Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 with Funeral Services following at 10:30 am from St Luke's Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest officiating&nbsp;

&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala.&nbsp;

Cremation will follow services with no interment scheduled at this time.

Nancy R. Aden (1944-2023)

John Marc Hurley, 72, of Broken Bow, Nebraska passed away on February 5, 2023. Marc, as he was known by all, passed away with his wife of 40 years, Beverly, by his side after a short battle with cancer.

Marc was born in San Antonio, TX to John Gerard and Janice Ruth Hurley, on August 16, 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Sam Houston, a U.S. Navy Ballistic Missile Submarine.

After the U.S. Navy, Marc worked as a mason which propelled him to a long career in the construction field. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and sports of all types, especially NASCAR and golf. After retirement, Marc worked part time at local golf courses leading to many hours of golf.

Marc is survived by his wife Beverly; sons, Edward Hurley of Aurora, CO and Ryan Hurley (Amanda) of Littleton, CO; grandkids, Jillian, Genevieve, and Mason of Littleton, CO; sister Karen (Philip) Millis of Monument, CO; mother-in-law, Wanda Johnson and sister-in-law Sharon Johnson both of Broken Bow; brother-in-law Dale Johnson of Brady, NE; sister-in-law Kathy Hurley of Commerce City, CO; and brother-in-law James Downey of Norton MA.

Marc is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Kevin and Gregg, sister Janice Downey, and father-in-law, Dallas Johnson. His brother David died shortly after Marc's passing.

A small family burial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO, June 12, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to any VA hospital, Honorflight.org, or to any local animal shelter.

John Hurley (1950-2023)

Samuel K. Randall, 65, of Elm Creek, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.

He was born on March 31, 1958, to Lee Randall and Margery Wamser. Samuel and his family moved quite a bit back and forth between Elm Creek, Nebraska and Colorado where he graduated from Evergreen High School with the class of 1976. After high school, Samuel joined the United States Marine Corps from February of 1976 until February of 1980. He then served with the United States Army as a captain from July of 1985 until July of 1988. He then served with the National Guard until he was honorably discharged. Once he left the military, Samuel worked several years at Wheelers Farm Store before moving on to Hobby Lobby where he worked for 27 years.

Samuel was a serious coffee drinker. His family always joked with him that he needed to have an IV of coffee ready for him. He loved woodworking, going out to the shooting range, and walking around with his metal detector looking for lost treasure. The thing he loved the most was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would drop whatever he was doing to be with them. One day when Sam was taking his grandchildren out to visit a loved one at the cemetery, one of his granddaughters asked him why some people in the cemetery didn’t have flowers; that day Samuel decided he needed to change that. He spent the next 12 years going to local cemeteries in his area and Fort McPherson National Cemetery to leave flowers for all the fallen veterans who might not have had any family left. At one point, he and his family delivered more than 5,000 flowers to every headstone. He will be greatly missed.

Those left to honor his memory is his mother, Margery Wamser of Wheatridge, Colorado; daughters, Charity Marquardt of Funk, Nebraska, Penny (Terry) Davis of Kearney, Nebraska Faye Schram of Elm Creek, Nebraska, and Samantha Jo Taylor of Kearney, Nebraska; sons, Ronald (Michelle) Martin of Harvard, Nebraska, Thomas (Melissa) Martin of Shelton, Nebraska, and Henry Schram of Loomis, Nebraska; brothers, Richard Randall of Arizona City, Arizona, Jim Randall of Mead, Colorado, Jeff (Pam) Wamser of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, and Wesley Shurtleff of Elm Creek, Nebraska, as well as many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Lee Randall, his wife, Maxine Martin, and nephew, Jim Randall.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Samuel’s wish for cremation.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Elm Creek, Nebraska with Pastor Venedith Vargas, officiating.

Inurnment with military honors will be in the Elm Creek Cemetery in Elm Creek, Nebraska.

Scott Joseph Malleck, age 64, of McCook, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Scott was born January 17, 1959 in McCook, NE to parents Kenneth Charles and Nita J (Greenlee) Malleck. He was one of four siblings who grew up in McCook where he attended school and graduated from McCook High School in 1977.&nbsp; Following high school he begin his career working in the family Oil and Gas business.&nbsp;

On March 8, 1980 Scott married Debbie K. (Brown) Malleck at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook.&nbsp;&nbsp; To this union four children were born.

Scott was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the McCook Eagles Club.

He enjoyed shooting, bowling, playing softball and pool and attending the horseraces with family and friends. &nbsp;Scott loved watching his grandchildren’s events and fishing with friends Larry and Dave.&nbsp; He was an avid Nebraska Huskers and Oregon Duck football fan. &nbsp;

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Malleck; and a brother in law, Allan Otter.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Debbie Malleck of McCook; sons, Jeremy Malleck and partner James Lumbeck of Omaha, NE, Jerome (Kari) Malleck of Kearney, NE, and Justin (Lori) Malleck of McCook, NE; daughter Cami Malleck of McCook, NE; mother, Nita Malleck of McCook; brother, Sam (Chantel) Malleck of McCook; sisters, Jody Otter of McCook and Jan (Mike) Nitsch) of Arapahoe, NE.&nbsp; Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family as well as our dog Darling was a faithful companion.

&nbsp; Thelma Elaine Liewer was born December 18, 1937, at Webster, Kansas, to Hector L. and Julia E. (Jones) Conyac. As a youngster, she moved with her family to southwest Iowa, to a farm near Tabor, where she grew up and attended school. Thelma graduated from Tabor High School in 1955, earning a scholarship in home economics to Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. While attending Peru State, Thelma met Kelly Liewer and the couple were married on May 27, 1957, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Hamburg, Iowa. They settled briefly in Peru while attending summer school and then embarked on careers in teaching and secondary education administration. Thelma and Kelly resided in several communities in Nebraska, including Pilger, Saint Edward, Palmyra and Lincoln. In 1968 the couple, along with growing family, made their home in Peru, Nebraska. After raising their family, Thelma and Kelly moved to Auburn, Nebraska in 1988 and retired to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1998. Thelma was employed at several different locations while raising her family including AVCO Finance, Bank of Peru, and the business office of Peru State College. After retiring in Lincoln, Thelma landed her dream position in ladies’ apparel with the Von Maur Company. She received many “Pace Setters” sales awards over the years and thoroughly enjoyed serving her clientele. Thelma was a very classy and fashionable lady; her appearance was most always to the 9’s. Thelma was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Altar Society of Lincoln, and a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, stopping by a casino, and shopping. She especially loved spending time entertaining and cooking for her family. Christmas was a favorite time. Thelma passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, in Lincoln, NE. She was 85 years of age. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law; Edward and Leone Liewer; brother Bud (Iva) Conyac; nephew: Chris (Dee) Conyac; and sister-in-law: Patricia (Rollie) Beran. Cathy&nbsp;Heffner passed away at her home in Lemoyne, NE, on January 2, 2023, at the age of 87.

Cathy was born June 6, 1935, to Joseph and Catherine Spahn at Sterling, CO. She grew up and attended school in Sterling then got married. Cathy married Lenard Coakley in 1952. They settled in Sterling and started a family, then later divorced. While Cathy was raising the boys she worked various jobs.

On October 6, 1972, Cathy wed Ronald Heffner in Sidney, NE, and they made their home in North Platte. In 1994 the couple moved again, this time to their final home at the lake in Lemoyne.

Cathy enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and crafts. She was also a sports fan and loved fishing with Ron. Cathy especially loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; her parents, Joseph and Catherine Spahn; three infant brothers; her siblings, John, Pete and Jim Spahn, Pauline Gaines and Betty Booth; and stepson, Bobby Joe Heffner.

Cathy is survived by her sons, Dan (Debra) Coakley of Sterling and Ron Coakley of Lemoyne; stepdaughters, Sherri (Tony) Edwards and Ronda (Tony) Johnson of Ogallala; her sister, Marjorie Bettinger of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Coakley, Jessica (Trent) Kaufman, Taylor Coakley and Shannon (Wade) Wright; as well as five step grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and other family.

Clara A. Dunn, age 80, of Indianola, NE passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Tri Valley Health Systems in Cambridge, NE.

Clara was born on September 30, 1942, to parents Rush and Clara (Alston) Ledbetter in Petaluma, California. Clara’s father was in the military, so Clara grew up in many places like California, Minnesota, Colorado, and even England. She graduated high school with the class of 1960 from Petaluma High School, CA. Later in her life, she achieved her certificate in computer sciences.

Clara married Harvey L. Dunn, in Golden, Colorado on April 16, 1971. Together they raised eight children. Clara enjoyed creating her photo albums and scrapbooks, tending to her flower gardens, sharing her bible studies, and reading a good book. Clara loved her pets, and her favorite vacation spot was Branson, Missouri.

Clara was very involved at the Evangelical Free Church where she was the librarian and a small group leader. She supported many ministries and missionaries. Her tenacious love for the Lord has touched many hearts and led many people to the church. Clara will be remembered for being civic-minded, a prayer warrior, and patriotic.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a great granddaughter, Emersyn Heimann.

Gwendolyn Ruth Anderson, 93, of Ogallala, passed away on May 29, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Gwen was born October 6, 1929, at Loup City, Nebraska, to Atholbert "Bert" and Helen Marie (Campbell) Chase. She attended school in Loup City before graduating from Broken Bow High School. Gwen subsequently attended Kearney State College before earning her Master's in education at the University of Northern Colorado. After college, Gwen moved to California, where she worked in banking for a season of her life. She married and was blessed with two daughters, Judy and Janet. After a few years, Gwen and the girls moved to Grant, Nebraska, to be closer to family. Gwen reconnected with education, taking a teaching position at Venango Public Schools.

In November of 1968, Gwen married Albert "Andy" Anderson. The couple made their home in Ogallala, where she finished her teaching career at the age of 62.

Gwen was a woman of faith, service, and impeccable organization. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Her dedication was unyielding, her faith unwavering, and her heart was always eager to serve. Always an active participant, she involved herself in various activities the church offered over the years, but she was particularly fond of her weekly Bible study.

Gwen was a longtime member of the Eastern Star. She loved to play Bridge with friends and always enjoyed the camaraderie that came with it.

Gwen was a respected teacher by profession, known for her dedication and discipline in the classroom. She extended this commitment to her own home, which was always spotless and in perfect order. A testament to her exceptional organizational skills, everything had a place and was always in its place. Her house looked like it was out of a magazine, pristine and inviting, a true reflection of the woman who made it a home.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Anderson; grandson, Shawn Shaul; great-grandson, Devon Park; step-son, James Anderson; 2 brothers, Paul (Lynda) Chase and Bob (Mary) Chase.

Delores May (Connelly) May went to the loving arms of her Savior on May 31, 2023, at her home in Brady, Nebraska, surrounded by her family.&nbsp;

She was born on June 11, 1952 to Nobel and Maxine (Harr) Connelly at Gothenburg, Nebraska. &nbsp;They brought her home to Brady, along with her twin sister. &nbsp;She attended elementary school south of Brady through first grade until the country school was closed. &nbsp;She continued her education at Brady Public Schools, where she met her lifelong sister and best friend, Joyce Lydic. &nbsp;She graduated from Brady Public Schools in 1970.

Delores met the love of her life, Joe May, and married him in December of 1969. &nbsp;They made their home working for ranchers in the Sandhills of Nebraska before settling in Maxwell, Nebraska in 1978. &nbsp;Later the family moved to her family homestead in 1984 and made Brady their permanent home. &nbsp;To this union four children were born Tisha, Terrill, Tracey and Kevin. &nbsp;In the fall of 1996, they were host to their foreign exchange student Jian Hou. &nbsp;Jian immediately became part of their family and Delores loved him like her own child. &nbsp;So, her family grew even larger. &nbsp;

Delores graduated from North Platte Community College L.P.N. program in 1979. &nbsp;She worked at several health facilities, including Gothenburg Memorial Health, Linden Court, and the Red Cross. &nbsp;She made life-long friends while working, that she loved like family. &nbsp;Her compassionate smile and generous heart helped her to excel in the nursing field. &nbsp;She always promised to be the best nurse she could be and she proved to be very successful. &nbsp;After her retirement from nursing, she became CNA instructor. &nbsp;She passed on her love joy, compassion, and love of nursing to all of her students. &nbsp;

Delores is survived by her husband, Joe May, Brady, Nebraska; children, Tisha (Rick) Hood, Terrill (Ross) Widick, Tracey (Joe) Miles, Kevin (Tammy) May, Jian (Sara) Hou; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; to whom no one would argue they were the highlight of her life; brothers, Dean (Twyla) Connelly, Don (Starlette) Connelly; life long best friend and sister, Joyce Lydic; numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Michael Ray Olsson, 54, of North Platte, passed away on May 30, 2023, at his home. &nbsp;He was born to Gary and Cheryl (Carlon) Olsson on July 25, 1968, in North Platte.

Mike was raised in Gothenburg, attending schools and graduating from Gothenburg High School. &nbsp;Upon graduating, he opened his own painting company, “Olsson’s Painting”. &nbsp;He married Melody Boyer on July 24, 1989 and one son was born from their union, Joseph.

He always worked hard to take care of his family and the people he loved, as well as his dog Karma. &nbsp;Mike was a handyman and enjoyed working on cars and building things. &nbsp;He was fond of fishing and watching Nascar. &nbsp;Mike was so kind and always funny.

Survivors include his son, Joseph Olsson; father, Gary Olsson; sister, Rebekah Mills; among many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.

Those that preceded him in death include his mom, Cheryl Olsson; former wife, Melody Boyer; and brother, Joel Olsson.

Cherry Lee Needham, 79, of North Platte, NE passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her home.

Cherry was born on December 1, 1943 in Ogallala, NE. &nbsp;She was adopted and raised by Bert Edwin Needham, Jr. and Pauline (Mitchem) Needham. &nbsp;The family moved to North Platte and Cherry attended North Platte schools graduating from North Platte High School in 1962. &nbsp;She worked as a bank teller for a short time before deciding to join the U.S. Army. &nbsp;She served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and was stationed in many countries and states during her active tours of duty including: Turkey, Korea, California, Alaska, and Alabama. &nbsp;She was stationed in Leavenworth, Kansas until her retirement in 1987. &nbsp;She received many awards and citations during her time in the military. &nbsp;She then went on to work as a corrections officer with the KDOC at the Lancing, KS correctional facility for 18 years. &nbsp;Cherry was active in the VFW and a Gold Circle member. &nbsp;She enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia and was an avid reader.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Loretta Joan Glanzer and husband Jerald of North Platte and five nephews; brothers, Kirt Allen Needham of KS and a niece, and Clay Bruce Needham and wife Diana of IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Russell Needham who was killed in action during Vietnam.

Frances Kathrine Hauser passed from this life straight into the arms of Jesus, Thursday morning May the 25th, surrounded by her loving children, at the age of 94 years and 10 months. A life well lived filled with love and adventure, unfolding into an amazing story!!

Francis was born on July the 9th, 1928, into the waiting arms of Ray and Mary Davis. She spent an idyllic childhood, living her own version of what growing up in the rolling sandhills should really be like!! A carefree time filled with kittens to be played with and chores to be done, cousins sprinkled in and a pony to ride for fun!!

Turning a page at the ripe age of six, stepping straight into grade school at District 13. A little brick school building just a couple of miles down the road, where she learned her ABC’s with 7 neighbor children: riding that same pony to school every day!

After graduating grade school, she stepped straight into a new adventure as she then moved to the big metropolis of Dunning, where she attended high school there, and stayed with her Uncle Ory and Aunt Anna and those sweet cousins of hers during the week and went home on the weekends! - A fun-filled time!

Graduating with honors from Dunning High School, she was already turning a new page in her story. &nbsp;She had met this handsome young man at a dance and was already smitten! They soon became inseparable! &nbsp;She had found her love of a lifetime and it was fated to become a lifetime of love!&nbsp; On Oct. 4th, 1947, her story changed a bit. A promise was sealed with a kiss, and now she was in marriage bliss! First just a family of two and then it grew!! Soon they had a baby in the cradle! Not done yet, Glory Be, they soon had nine little sets of feet under the table!&nbsp; Their very own haying crew, all ready and able!! &nbsp;And the years were filled with sunshine and hard work! With a few baseball games throwed in!.... &nbsp; And she became a master of organization! She had to, you see, for God had opened yet another door and she took a job at Forest Reserve where she worked amongst her neighbors and friends for many summers and spent the winters driving the school bus. &nbsp;

In the fall of 1999, her story changed again as she lost that love of a lifetime and sadly turned the page to a new adventure , moving this time to the bustling city of Broken Bow, where at the ripe age of 71, she started a new career in the clothing industry, working at Bow Western Store, finding time to work as a hospice volunteer also, earning herself the hospice volunteer of the year award!! She also became an avid church worker through St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of Catholic daughters!

At the ripe age of 75, she turned another page in her story and followed what she believed to be her “calling” as she began helping the handicapped, working with Mid-Nebraska until at the ripe age of 84.&nbsp; She turned yet another page, stepping straight into RETIREMENT!! Spending time with her family, traveling to different places, enjoying life to the FULLEST! Always remembering to keep a little sand between her toes!! She leaves a broken-hearted family, a legacy of love and Christian hope!!

Vonda K. Parrott, age 83, passed away on May 25, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born on February 15, 1940 in Indianola, Nebraska.

Vonda graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 1958, a testament to her perseverance and hard work. Vonda was a proud resident of Lincoln, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of those around her. As the owner and operator of Alterations Etc., Vonda showcased her exceptional skills as a seamstress. Her work did not stop there; she also contributed her talents as a seamstress to the University of Nebraska athletics.

Vonda is survived by her sons, Jerry Jr.(Denise) Parrott and Donald Parrott; her grandchildren, Kevin (Alycia) Parrott and Ashlie Parrott; her great-grandchildren, MaKenna, Abigayle, Bentley, and London, and second great grandson due later this year; her siblings, Lonnie (Jo) Malleck, Phillip Malleck, and Jeannine Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Genevieve (Powers) Malleck; her brothers, Marvin, Tom, and Dennis; and her sisters, Jane and Judy. As we remember Vonda, it is important to reflect on the incredible impact she had on those around her and the legacy she leaves behind.

Jerry Dean Kisinger, age 61, of Orchard, NE passed away in Palisade, NE on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Jerry was born to Jack and Helen (Russ) Kisinger on August 2, 1961 in Goodland, Kansas.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kisinger.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Kisinger of McCook; brothers, Raymond (Lisa) Kisinger of Palisade and Roger Kisinger of Cheyenne, WY; and his sister, Jackie Kisinger also of Cheyenne. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Jerry Kisinger (1961-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Richard Walter, age 76, passed away at Rawlins County Health Center on May 24, 2023 after a long struggle with cancer.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Richard was born to Russell H. and Mabel L. (Powell) Walter on March 18, 1947 at the Stratton Hospital. He was one of two children.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He grew up on the family farm south of Stratton and attended and graduated from Stratton Public School in 1967. After graduation, Rich attended Wesleyan University and McCook Community College. On February 23, 1969, Rich married Penney L. Real in McCook, Nebraska. They moved to St. Francis, Kansas where they were blessed with two children. Richard worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company for six years. They then moved to the family farm south of Stratton after his parents retired, where they farmed and ranched for over 40 years. Their son, Brad, took over the farm until he passed away on January 28, 2020.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Rich enjoyed turkey and deer hunting with his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren about handling guns and archery. He served on the 4-H Council while his children were in 4-H. They were active in showing calves at the county fair. As his children grew, Rich taught Hunter Safety for several years. Rich’s dogs were also very special to him. Rich served on several committees at the Methodist Church in Stratton. He enjoyed being a liturgist and always had to add a *little extra* to the liturgy. Rich loved his Lord and Savior and read the Bible daily.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bradley Walter.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Penney Walter of Stratton; brother, Kenneth (Cheryl) Walter of Brandon, SD; daughter, Trina (Shawn) Winters of McCook, daughter in law, Laura Walter of McCook; grandchildren Lakken and Skyler Winters, Jarett, Kennedy and Cole Walter; and three great grandchildren, Kiefer, Myles and Stella.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be at Memorial Methodist Church in McCook at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, with Pastor Jeff Kelly officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a future date.

 </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; Richard Walter, age 76, passed away at Rawlins County Health Center on May 24, 2023 after a long struggle with cancer.&nbsp; &nbsp; Richard was born to Russell H. and Mabel L. (Powell) Walter on March 18, 1947 at the Stratton Hospital. He was one of two children.&nbsp; &nbsp; He grew up on the family farm south of Stratton and attended and graduated from Stratton Public School in 1967. After graduation, Rich attended Wesleyan University and McCook Community College. On February 23, 1969, Rich married Penney L. Real in McCook, Nebraska. They moved to St. Francis, Kansas where they were blessed with two children. Richard worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company for six years. Richard Paul Walter (1947-2023)

LELAND "Pete" ULRICH, 81 of Ogallala, NE, passed away, surrounded by family, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE.

Pete was born November 9, 1941 at Julesburg, CO to Herbert Ulrich and Irene Rochlitz. He lived and worked on the Big Springs family farm with his parents and siblings. Later he formed his own successful painting company in Denver Colorado. He married Pam and had two children Jeff and Darcy. He married Dee June 22, 1978, and to this union one son, Justin was born. The family lived in Denver, CO for many years.

Pete and Dee moved to their home near Lake McConaughy for their retirement years. Pete continued to work for several years at Lake McConaughy which was a place that brought him much happiness.

Pete enjoyed all things associated with the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, especially fishing on Lake McConaughy. He and his sons took yearly trips to Kansas and other favorite fishing holes. Pete and his family spent many hours on their pontoon boat at Lake Mac and shared their catch with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, two sisters, brother-in-law, a niece and nephew.

He is survived by his wife Dee, his daughter, Darcy (husband Brent) Robertson, sons, Jeffrey (Judy) Ulrich of Denver, CO and Justin Ulrich of Denver, CO. Grandchildren, Courtney, Kelsey, Cody, Elissa, and Connor. Great-Grandchildren, Azlee, Evelyn, Kayda, Addison, Emberly, and Ry. Sister-in-law, Dawn, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends were important to Pete. Unselfish even in death, Pete donated his body to research at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln in order to help others struggling with COPD.

A celebration of life will be held at the Hayloft located in Front Street, Ogallala, NE on June 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Leland Ulrich (1941-2023)

Stuart Jacob Koch, 85, of North Platte, passed away May 23, 2023 at home. &nbsp;He was born on March 9, 1938 to Frank and Emma “Hazel” (Barnett) Koch in Sutherland.

Stuart grew up in Hershey and graduated from Hershey High School with the class of 1955. &nbsp;He worked for Union Pacific Railroad, Gentleman Power Plant, and as a self-employed carpenter for many years.

Stuart was a very giving person. &nbsp;He loved horses and horse training, playing chess, and showing dogs, cattle, and horses in 4-H.

Survivors include children, Angela (Mitch) Musselman of North Platte, Sarah (Shaun) Crawford of Hershey, Susan (Steve) Conrad of North Platte, Norman Koch of North Platte; grandchildren, James Musselman, Shane Musselman, Samuel Musselman, Matthew Musselman, Jacob Koch, Eric Halsted all of North Platte; sisters, Shirley Brownfield of Hershey, Ruth Brown of North Platte; several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma “Hazel”; siblings, Margaret Parker, Francis Jorgenson, Frank “Wayne” Koch, Merlon “Skip” Koch.

Stuart Jacob Koch (1938-2023)

Billy Farr, a man of many trades, passed away on May 19th, 2023, at the age of 46. Born in Oberlin, KS on April 30th, 1977, Billy graduated from Imperial High School in 1995.

Throughout his life, Billy was always eager to learn new things. His career spanned several fields, including being a ranch hand at Bear Mountain Ranch and working as a cook at Curtis Cattle Company. However, he was best known for working at Klien's Motor and Electric on square bailers where he helped teach others the trade and how to fix their own equipment such as swathers, skid loaders, and combines. He had a reputation for being smart and knowledgeable about just about everything. He was always willing to help anyone out without expecting anything back in return.

Billy had many interests outside of work as well. He loved spending time at the lake fishing and camping with his family. Hiking and exploring were other favorite pastimes of his. He also had a passion for cooking and gardening - he would try his best to make sure that everyone enjoyed what he cooked and would take great pride in seeing his plants grow.

One of Billy's proudest accomplishments was serving as a volunteer firefighter for many years at Red Willow Western.

Billy was proceeded in death by his mother, Alma Farr, grandparents, Kenneth and Gwendelyn Farr, grandfather, Joseph Corey, aunt, Naomi Corey, uncle's David Corey, and Jerry Farr.

Billy had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered as a kind soul who touched the lives of many.&nbsp;

There will be a Celebration of Life on June 4th, 2023, at Red Willow Marina, &nbsp;at noon. Please bring lawn chairs, fishing poles, and side dish for potluck. Lake attire.
