&nbsp; &nbsp; Oralene Marie (Hall) Winchell, age 80, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, July 6, 2024, after a short losing battle with cancer. She was born in Mitchell, Nebraska on September 24, 1943, the daughter of Oral and Pansy (Trauernicht) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ruth Snare; sister-in- law; Judy Hall; brothers- in-law, Ken McMillan and Jesse Crain; nieces, Kelley Crane and Tracy Walker; nephew, Tyler Hall; and numerous aunts uncles, and cousins.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Oralene attended and graduated from Mitchell High School, received her B.A. from Kearney State College, and her master’s degree from Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. On May 5, 1990, she married Jim Winchell in Garden City, Kansas. Oralene and Jim began married life in Aurora, Colorado.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Oralene taught choir, vocal music and band from elementary school to college in Nebraska, Oregon, Colorado, and Kansas. She was the director of the Salem Argonauts Drum and Bugle Corp. She also taught piano and vocal music, in her home. She retaught herself to play organ for Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. She wrote and directed plays and musicals for various charitable organizations. In her spare time, she painted landscapes and greeting cards.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by her husband, Jim Winchell; her son, Ross (Kristen) Hoffman of Brighton, Colorado; daughter, Ronda Hoffman of Denver. Janice J. Sanftner, of Albert Lea, MN, passed away on March 27, 2024, at home in Minnesota.

Jan was born on May 2, 1947, in Covington, KY, to Joseph and Hazel (Land) Mertes. She grew up in the Air Force, attending different schools nearly every year before marrying Gail Sanftner, whom she met in Colorado. They were wed and blessed with one son, David, who was the light of Jan's life.

Jan was an entrepreneur who excelled in sales all her life. She was a true businesswoman, from owning a Kirby Vacuum franchise to selling Tupperware and even running a ceramic shop. Later in life, she ventured into the world of mortgage brokering.

While operating the Kirby franchise, Jan met Alex Jara, and their friendship eventually blossomed into a long and fulfilling companionship. In 2015, Jan and Alex moved to North Platte, NE, to be near the Jara family. Alex passed away in 2016. Most recently, Jan had been making her home in Minnesota to be closer to her relatives.

Jan's love for playing cards and gambling was a testament to her adventurous spirit, making many memorable gambling trips "up the hill" with her lifelong friend, Judy Dumler. While living in Minnesota, she always looked forward to playing Pokeno with her sister and their friends, a game that brought them joy and laughter. Her creative spirit was always at work throughout her life, most recently in her newest hobby of creating beautiful diamond art paintings.

Jan is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Christine Sanftner; her five grandchildren: Orion Sanftner and his fiancée Jasmyn Wright, Isaiah Sanftner, Noah Sanftner, Josiah Sanftner, and Emma Sanftner, all of Idaho; a sister, Bev Loos; many nieces and nephews-special among whom were Brian and his wife, Jennifer Loos, and Brandi and her husband, Tim Dirkes, all of Minnesota-along with many other relatives and friends and her loving dog, Annie.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gail Sanftner in 2000 and Alex Jara in 2016; and a brother, Steven Mertes.

Glenn Smith (1935-2024)

Jesse Rios, 68 Years, of Gothenburg, died July 4, 2024 at his home in Gothenburg.&nbsp;

He was born August 31, 1955 in Georgetown, TX, son of Julian and Consuello (Escobar) Rios.

Jesse was one of 14 children and lived in Texas and Nebraska growing up. He met Karla Bice in 1978 at a graduation party and they married in 1979 in Lexington, Nebraska. To this union two children were born: Zachary in February 1983 and Vanessa on her dad's birthday August 31, 1984. He received his GED in Lexington in 1983. They lived in Lexington until 1984 when they moved to Colorado after Vanessa was born. The kids were raised in the Denver metro area until they moved back to Gothenburg in 2001. Jesse helped with Boy Scouts and helped coach both soccer and basketball for Zac and Vanessa. He enjoyed golf until he injured his hand in a work accident while working at the City of Lexington. Jesse also worked at the Darr Packing Plant and Cornland Dressed Beef before he was hired at Dawson County Roads Department and learned to operate heavy equipment. In Colorado, he worked at a wholesale pharmaceutical company where he had the opportunity to receive tickets to many Denver Nuggets basketball games. He also worked at Anheuser Busch before settling in at the City of Greenwood Village to drive heavy equipment again. He returned his family to Gothenburg and worked at Lincoln County Roads in 2001. He started working at the City of Lexington in 2005. He continued driving heavy equipment and was responsible for maintenance and supervising the city cemeteries. Jesse was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021 and was treated until December 2023 when he retired from the city.&nbsp;

Jesse LOVED watching his granddaughters grow and participate in ALL activities and sports. He spent many weekends attending their events and games in the same manner he did with Zac and Vanessa. Jesse loved sports, and anything related to the Nebraska Cornhuskers-except baseball and said many times he'd rather watch golf than baseball! Jesse always had a smile on his face (which sometimes got him in trouble)! He loved to tease his family and children.

Survivors include wife, Karla Sue Rios of Gothenburg; daughter, Vanessa Holbein of Gothenburg; three granddaughters, Taysia Holbein, Audrey Holbein and Charisma Lenz; four brothers, Raymond Rios of Wahoo, Joe (Herminia) Rios of Kearney, Julian Jr. Rios of Fremont, and Gabriel Rios of Kearney; seven sisters, Herlinda "Linda" Reyes of Ft. Collins, CO; Guadalupe "Lupe" (Don) Jones of West Palm Beach, FL; Irene (Richard) Kacprzicki of Pensacola, FL; Mercedes "Mercy" (Refugio) Bueno of Lexington, Margarita "Margie" (Larry) Cain of Texarkana, TX; and Maria Rios of Lexington; sisters-in-law Maryann Rios of Prague and Cindy Soller of Gothenburg; three brothers-in-law David Bice of Eustis, Kevin (Patty) Bice of Broomfield, CO; and Ron (Zeth) Bice of Tampa, FL; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Jesse Rios (1955-2024)

Also known as Dr. Don Cain or “Doc” and “Donnie” to his Wife &amp; Burwell friends &amp; family.

Dr. Donald V. Cain, Jr. 64 of Broken Bow, NE departed this physical life July 1, 2024, at his home with his loving wife &amp; helpmate holding his hand.

Don was born August 9th, 1959, in Burwell, Nebraska to Jeanne L. (Chaffin) &amp; Donald V. Cain, Sr. Don was a 5th generation Cattleman &amp; Nebraskan and was very proud of that; he had one younger brother Randall “Randy”. He lived in Burwell until he went off to college to become a successful Veterinarian. He was very active as a youth in 4-H showing cattle and horses. His family owned and was active racing quarter horses. Some of Don’s favorite memories were the times he spent at his grandparent’s (Chaffin) ranch where they raised Hereford cattle, and where his love for Herefords and cattle began. Don bought his first cow around age 9 and his first bull when he was 15. In high school he played sports, was on the drama and speech team, and loved to sing; Don excelled in all he did. Like most teenage boys he loved his car, a gold Cougar XR7. In the summers he worked with his Uncle Paul Cain doing carpentry and painting.&nbsp;

&nbsp;After high school, he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; was a Farmhouse fraternity brother and part of the Innocents Society. Dr. Cain graduated with his B.S. in Agricultural Honors, Chemistry &amp; Biology. He then continued his education at Kansas State University and received his Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine, as well as his M.S. in Pathology.

During his career, he held USDA National Veterinarian Accreditation in Nebraska, Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio, Montana and licensing in South Dakota and Kansas. He was active in the Nebraska Livestock Emergency Disaster Response System and was an “Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska”.

Dr. Cain was an active board member of ICON (Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska), and recently appointed to USDA Cattlemen’s Beef Board. He put 100%+ into everything he did. He wasn’t afraid of hard work or to fight for what was right. He participated several times at the Governor’s Ag Conference, as well as testified in the Nebraska Legislature for the rights of cattlemen, landowners, and taxpayers, where he won several cases at the Nebraska Supreme court.

Don was not afraid of hard work and long hours, as that was pretty much his everyday routine; he worked harder and longer than anyone who worked for him; because he believed in hard work and “Get-R-Done”. He was passionate about all he did, and it showed; the Lord blessed Don with a brilliant mind, memory, strength &amp; stamina.&nbsp;

To name a few of his accomplishments: Veterinarian licensed in 7 states, Surgeon specialized in bull reproductive surgery, Pathologist &amp; Diagnostician excelling in cattle health &amp; developing 9 autogenous cattle vaccines. He was an Entrepreneur &amp; Innovator, developed Performance Cattle Scanning &amp; Cain USA Beef. He was a Visionary &amp; Land Preservationist, developing his irrigated native range cattle ranch, a Cattleman/Rancher with over 50 years of quality cattle genetics &amp; traits in their uniform Hereford, Red Angus, F1 cross cattle herd, and recently added American Wagyu beef as part of Don &amp; Maureen’s All-Natural Beef company providing Premium Beef for the USA &amp; Internationally. Don was truly talented and blessed with many gifts.&nbsp;

First and foremost, Don loved his God and Lord &amp; Savior Jesus Christ, and was baptized and raised in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. He continued this relationship and membership throughout his whole life, with a membership at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna, Nebraska.

Second, Donnie met “the love of his life” Maureen (Kennedy) Cain January 9th, 2010, and were joined in holy matrimony July 14th, 2012, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Sonora, California; then it was “Wagons East”, as Donnie said, to begin their married life in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Donnie &amp; Maureen were matched on E-harmony; he a large animal Veterinarian and Pathologist and Maureen a Registered Nurse; and, yes, she loved cows too! In fact, their first date was an emergency cow call in a pasture for a prolapsed uterus. Maureen jumped right in, and the rest was history as his “Helpmate” in all aspects of his life and career. It was a perfect match, a match made in heaven; they completed each other’s sentences and thoughts as if they had been married for 50 years. Donnie said Maureen was his other ½ neuron and his one true love. Maureen was Donnie’s “helpmate” and biggest encourager, and Donnie was the love of her life and vowed to be with him always (Ruth 1:16-17).

Third, Don adored his 2 children Nathan &amp; Jentry Cain, and loved his stepdaughter Heather Sparks as his own; family was very important to him. Donnie made lots of memories with his children and Jentry worked with him at the Vet clinic, and everyone, at different times, helped with the cattle and the ranch.

Besides his love of God, his wife, their children &amp; their cows; Don loved working on his cattle records – the herd’s genetics and knew most all of his cows by their number and Dams &amp; Sires. He loved horses and definitely fishing! He enjoyed music, singing, history, antiques, restoring his &amp; Maureen’s “Castle”, and spending quiet and fun times with his wife creating memories and “sparkles”.

Donnie loved everything Czech, especially his Kolachi, which he helped his “Pearl” (Maureen) master the old family recipe. He loved the accordion and had started learning to play. He loved to dance - Country, Waltzing, and boy could he Polka! Donnie swept Maureen off her feet and won her heart. Almost every time they danced in public, there would inevitably be someone who would come up to them and tell him “We love to watch you two dance”.

Donnie was taken from this earth far too early, but God knew that it was time to join Him in heaven, believing that each of our days were ordained before we were formed in our Mother’s womb (Psalm 139). Little did we know his time would come so soon. He is survived by his wife Maureen (Kennedy) Cain; his children Nathan R. Cain of Lincoln, NE, Jentry D. Cain of Berwyn, NE, Heather R. Sparks of Austin, TX; his father Donald V. Cain Sr. of Burwell, NE; his brother Randall L. Cain of Hebron, NE. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne L. (Chaffin) Cain.&nbsp;

Cain, Jr. 64 of Broken Bow, NE departed this physical life July 1, 2024, at his home with his loving wife &amp; helpmate holding his hand.Don was born August 9th, 1959, in Burwell, Nebraska to Jeanne L. (Chaffin) &amp; Donald V. Cain, Sr. Don was a 5th generation Cattleman &amp; Nebraskan and was very proud of that; he had one younger brother Randall “Randy”. He lived in Burwell until he went off to college to become a successful Veterinarian. He was very active as a youth in 4-H showing cattle and horses. His family owned and was active racing quarter horses. Some of Don’s favorite memories were the times he spent at his grandparent’s (Chaffin) ranch where they raised Hereford cattle, and where his love for Herefords and cattle began. Don bought his first cow around age 9 and his first bull when he was 15. In high school he played sports, was on the drama and speech team, and loved to sing; Don excelled in all he did. Like most teenage boys he loved his car, a gold Cougar XR7. In the summers he worked with his Uncle Paul Cain doing carpentry and painting.&nbsp;&nbsp;After high school, he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; was a Farmhouse fraternity brother and part of the Innocents Society. Dr. Cain graduated with his B.S. in Agricultural Honors, Chemistry &amp; Biology. He then continued his education at Kansas State University and received his Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine, as well as his M.S. in Pathology.During his career, he held USDA National Veterinarian Accreditation in Nebraska, Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio, Montana and licensing in South Dakota and Kansas. He was active in the Nebraska Livestock Emergency Disaster Response System and was an “Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska”.Dr. Cain was an active board member of ICON (Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska), and recently appointed to USDA Cattlemen’s Beef Board. He put 100%+ into everything he did. He wasn’t afraid of hard work or to fight for what was right. He participated several times at the Governor’s Ag Conference, as well as testified in the Nebraska Legislature for the rights of cattlemen, landowners, and taxpayers, where he won several cases at the Nebraska Supreme court.Don was not afraid of hard work and long hours, as that was pretty much his everyday routine; he worked harder and longer than anyone who worked for him; because he believed in hard work and “Get-R-Done”. He was passionate about all he did, and it showed; the Lord blessed Don with a brilliant mind, memory, strength &amp; stamina.&nbsp;To name a few of his accomplishments: Veterinarian licensed in 7 states, Surgeon specialized in bull reproductive surgery, Pathologist &amp; Diagnostician excelling in cattle health &amp; developing 9 autogenous cattle vaccines. He was an Entrepreneur &amp; Innovator, developed Performance Cattle Scanning &amp; Cain USA Beef. He was a Visionary &amp; Land Preservationist, developing his irrigated native range cattle ranch, a Cattleman/Rancher with over 50 years of quality cattle genetics &amp; traits in their uniform Hereford, Red Angus, F1 cross cattle herd, and recently added American Wagyu beef as part of Don &amp; Maureen’s All-Natural Beef company providing Premium Beef for the USA &amp; Internationally. Don was truly talented and blessed with many gifts.&nbsp;First and foremost, Don loved his God and Lord &amp; Savior Jesus Christ, and was baptized and raised in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. He continued this relationship and membership throughout his whole life, with a membership at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna, Nebraska.Second, Donnie met “the love of his life” Maureen (Kennedy) Cain January 9th, 2010, and were joined in holy matrimony July 14th, 2012, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Sonora, California; then it was “Wagons East”, as Donnie said, to begin their married life in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Donnie &amp; Maureen were matched on E-harmony; he a large animal Veterinarian and Pathologist and Maureen a Registered Nurse; and, yes, she loved cows too! In fact, their first date was an emergency cow call in a pasture for a prolapsed uterus. Maureen jumped right in, and the rest was history as his “Helpmate” in all aspects of his life and career. It was a perfect match, a match made in heaven; they completed each other’s sentences and thoughts as if they had been married for 50 years. Donnie said Maureen was his other ½ neuron and his one true love. Maureen was Donnie’s “helpmate” and biggest encourager, and Donnie was the love of her life and vowed to be with him always (Ruth 1:16-17).Third, Don adored his 2 children Nathan &amp; Jentry Cain, and loved his stepdaughter Heather Sparks as his own; family was very important to him. Donnie made lots of memories with his children and Jentry worked with him at the Vet clinic, and everyone, at different times, helped with the cattle and the ranch.Besides his love of God, his wife, their children &amp; their cows; Don loved working on his cattle records – the herd’s genetics and knew most all of his cows by their number and Dams &amp; Sires. He loved horses and definitely fishing! He enjoyed music, singing, history, antiques, restoring his &amp; Maureen’s “Castle”, and spending quiet and fun times with his wife creating memories and “sparkles”.Donnie loved everything Czech, especially his Kolachi, which he helped his “Pearl” (Maureen) master the old family recipe. He loved the accordion and had started learning to play. He loved to dance - Country, Waltzing, and boy could he Polka! Donnie swept Maureen off her feet and won her heart. Almost every time they danced in public, there would inevitably be someone who would come up to them and tell him “We love to watch you two dance”.Donnie was taken from this earth far too early, but God knew that it was time to join Him in heaven, believing that each of our days were ordained before we were formed in our Mother’s womb (Psalm 139). Little did we know his time would come so soon. He is survived by his wife Maureen (Kennedy) Cain; his children Nathan R. Cain of Lincoln, NE, Jentry D. Cain of Berwyn, NE, Heather R. Sparks of Austin, TX; his father Donald V. Cain Sr. of Burwell, NE; his brother Randall L. Cain of Hebron, NE. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne L. (Chaffin) Cain.&nbsp;&nbsp;Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burwell, Nebraska, with the Internment Service held at Cottonwood Cemetery, Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials suggested to Orphan Grain Train. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 5th, with family greeting from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Dr. Donald V. Cain, Jr (1959-2024)

Raymond W. Geiger, 89, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. He was born December 7, 1934 in Eustis, Nebraska to Robert and Martha (Kleinknecht) Geiger.

&nbsp;Raymond’s family moved from Eustis to rural Cozad in 1938, where they established themselves for years to come among the many “South Siders” who called the area south of the Platte River home. It is here that Raymond’s love for agriculture began to blossom.

Following his graduation from Cozad High School in 1952, Raymond furthered his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He graduated in May of 1956 with degrees in accounting and business administration. During his time at UNL, Raymond was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He also served in the Army ROTC where he achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Raymond’s work career began in June of 1956 with Bendix Aviation as a traveling internal corporate auditor. Eventually, he was promoted to senior auditor. Raymond enjoyed roughly four years with Bendix and made many memories and lifelong friends along the way. Following his stint at Bendix, Raymond’s career moves included chief accountant with Central Packing Company of Kansas City, MO, traveling auditor with Interstate Finance Company and treasurer of the commercial trucking firm Colorado Cartage Company in Denver, CO. Prior to his time at Colorado Cartage, the foundation was being laid for Raymond to put his growing, but yet untested, business savvy to use.

In the early 1960’s, Raymond was given the opportunity to own and manage a couple of satellite franchise H &amp; R Block tax offices in Roswell and Carlsbad, NM. He lept at the chance and immersed himself in outfitting the office locations and hiring and training staff for tax preparation and office management. Raymond made Roswell his home for a short time and was blessed with the likes of Oma Ruth O’Rear and Frank Shelton who assisted in keeping both locations running smoothly.

Tax season lasted only part of the year and the H &amp; R Block offices were closed during the off-season. While the offices were closed they required only limited management. Raymond occupied those times by helping out with his father Robert’s farm enterprise in Cozad. The old adage “you can take the boy off the farm, but you can never take the farm out of the boy” rang true with ‘ol Ray. While at home in Cozad during the summer and fall of 1964, another gem of an opportunity presented itself. He was offered the opportunity to rent his first farm from Olga Sheldon. He eagerly accepted. In the fall of 1966, he purchased his first two quarters of ground northwest of Elwood, NE. These quarters consisted of 2/3 dryland farm ground and 1/3 pasture. Soon after, two wells were drilled on the dryland farms and irrigation practices were incorporated. Working on a shoestring budget and operating with old equipment pulled from his father’s windbreak, Raymond said in his own words at the time, “Then I was a farmer, alternating between farming and the tax business.” Passion, insight, experience and a calculating mind propelled Raymond into a successful farmer and businessman, a status he enjoyed well into his late 80s. He was once referred to by an admiring family member as “a farmer with a tractor steering wheel in one hand and the Wall Street Journal in the other.”

Raymond’s success in life wasn’t solely measured by a balance sheet. On June 1st, 1968, he married Carolyn Waters Gealy, at which time he became a step-father to her young sons, Steve and Mark Gealy. The couple welcomed a son of their own, Jon Geiger, in late 1969. Raymond served as a role model and inspiration to all three boys and their families to the very end of his life. Carolyn passed away in July, 1988.

On August 25th, 1990, Raymond married Judith Roberts (Monaghan). The couple enjoyed over 33 wonderful years together through which Ray experienced some of the happiest times of his life. It was during these years that Raymond modified his day-to-day involvement with his farm operation to make room for “the good life”. He pursued his passion of sailing. He raced his Santana 23 sailboat in various regattas and crewed various yachts from the mainland US to the Caribbean Islands. In addition to racing his sailboat, Raymond fed his competitive spirit by playing tennis alongside friends in the Cozad and Lexington areas. He was also a member of the Goldenrod Car Club. He took time to capture his parents’ journey to America from Germany, along with his family’s story in his written work “Voyage to the American Dream: The Long and Challenging Journey of Robert and Martha Geiger”. Travel was another of Raymond’s passions. He and Judith visited many destinations both home and abroad, including Germany, Ireland, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Virgin Islands, Canada and Mexico. Judith was there with Raymond in his final moments as he sailed off into a glorious and peaceful sunset.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Otto and Edwin, a sister Rose Ann Paslay and her husband Michael Paslay, and brother-in-law Pat Monaghan.

Raymond is survived by his wife Judith, son Jon (Julie) Geiger of Cozad, grandson Landry Geiger of Lincoln, brother Robert (Colleen) Geiger, Jr of Thurman, Iowa, sister-in-law Marlene Geiger of Cozad, sister-in-law Trudy Geiger of Cozad, stepson Steve (Kathy) Gealy of Lincoln, stepson Mark Gealy (Diane Wolter) of Fargo, North Dakota, stepdaughter Debra (Ty) Noyes of Lincoln, stepdaughter Lisa (Matt) Hunke of Cozad, stepson J.P. (Jenna) Roberts of Johnson Lake, several nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jill Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.

William Darwin Hanlon, a skilled Millwright and Carpenter, passed away on June 27,2024, in Imperial, Nebraska. Born on February 10, 1942, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to William and Vivian (Sheeley) Hanlon, William's journey was one of dedication and craftsmanship.

William grew up and attended school in Sioux Falls, graduating from Washington High in Sioux Falls.&nbsp;

He proudly served in the Navy and received an Honorable Medical Discharge during his time of service. Apart from his military service, William's talents and passion for woodworking shone through in his career as a Millwright and Carpenter, where he left a lasting impact with his meticulous work.

Outside of work, William found joy in creating birdhouses and honing his woodworking skills. His love for these hobbies showcased his creativity and attention to detail. William also enjoyed being a member of the Free Mason MO, Moose Lodge and American Legion organizations.

William will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends including his sons, James Hanlon, Wade Hanlon, daughter Sally Miles, ex-wife Carol Hanlon, brother, Dave Hanlon (Pat Borovsaky) and girlfriend, Joyce Groves; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

William was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gwen Connley and sister-in-law, Heddy Hanlon.

Private family services will be held later.&nbsp;

William Darwin Hanlon (1942-2024)

Opal Marie (Refior) Muhlenkamp, 89, of North Platte, NE went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. &nbsp;Opal was born on November 28, 1934 in Lincoln County, NE the daughter of Carl and Naomi (Wilkenson) Refior.

Opal attended school in both North Platte and Elsie, NE graduating from Elsie High School at the age of 16. &nbsp;She then moved to North Platte, where she met her lifelong love, Nicholas Muhlenkamp, and they were married on January 2, 1955 at the North Platte Berean Church. &nbsp;Opal worked in the Dry-Cleaning business for most of her adult life working alternately for Ed Orr at Orr’s and Jim Orr at Parisian Cleaners. &nbsp;She was a member of the Berean Church most of her life and had only recently become a member of the Calvary Baptist Church until health made it difficult for her and Nick to attend. &nbsp;Opal was also a member of the Early Ford V-8 and Flatlanders Car Clubs, where she served multiple years as secretary for the latter. &nbsp;In her spare time, Opal loved painting ceramics, embroidering and cross stitch, making numerous tablecloths and quilts which she loved to give to family members. &nbsp;She was also known as an ardent dish collector, having collected multiple sets of depression glass dishes, as well as Shirley Temple dishes and dolls, miniature tea sets and multiple other collections. &nbsp;She was beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. &nbsp;

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Naomi; sisters, Mary (Bob) Doe, Delores (Paul) Schneider and Betty Refior; as well as nieces, Debbie (Vencill) Gilliam, and Sherry (Schneider) Shultz; nephew, Larry Muhlenkamp; sister in-laws, Katherine (Bob) Mason, Clara (Fred) Vencill, and Marcella (Don) Hille; brother in-laws, John (Betty) Muhlenkamp, and Antone Muhlenkamp; daughter in-law, Kimberly (James) Muhlenkamp. &nbsp;

Those left to cherish Opal’s memory are her husband of 69 years, Nicholas Bernard Muhlenkamp of North Platte; daughter, Mary Ann (Chuck) Anderson of North Platte; son, James (Anita) Muhlenkamp of Baker, West Virginia; grandsons, Charlie (Holly) Anderson of Hickman, NE, Ryan Muhlenkamp of Dale City, VA, and Nicholas (Jennifer) Muhlenkamp of Ladysmith, VA; granddaughters, Melissa (Dave) Ritner of Wilcox, NE, Audra Majors of Fredericksburg, VA, and Michelle (Christopher) Creed of Nashville, TN; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister in-law, Shirley Muhlenkamp of North Platte; brother in-law, Hank Muhlenkamp of North Platte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Berean Church with Bill Crooks and George Cheek officiating.&nbsp; Private burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery, near Maxwell on Monday, July 8th. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5th with the family receiving friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

 </figure>Opal Marie (Refior) Muhlenkamp, 89, of North Platte, NE went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. &nbsp;Opal was born on November 28, 1934 in Lincoln County, NE the daughter of Carl and Naomi (Wilkenson) Refior.Opal attended school in both North Platte and Elsie, NE graduating from Elsie High School at the age of 16. &nbsp;She then moved to North Platte, where she met her lifelong love, Nicholas Muhlenkamp, and they were married on January 2, 1955 at the North Platte Berean Church. &nbsp;Opal worked in the Dry-Cleaning business for most of her adult life working alternately for Ed Orr at Orr’s and Jim Orr at Parisian Cleaners. &nbsp;She was a member of the Berean Church most of her life and had only recently become a member of the Calvary Baptist Church until health made it difficult for her and Nick to attend. &nbsp;Opal was also a member of the Early Ford V-8 and Flatlanders Car Clubs, where she served multiple years as secretary for the latter. &nbsp;In her spare time, Opal loved painting ceramics, embroidering and cross stitch, making numerous tablecloths and quilts which she loved to give to family members. &nbsp;She was also known as an ardent dish collector, having collected multiple sets of depression glass dishes, as well as Shirley Temple dishes and dolls, miniature tea sets and multiple other collections. &nbsp;She was beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. &nbsp;Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Naomi; sisters, Mary (Bob) Doe, Delores (Paul) Schneider and Betty Refior; as well as nieces, Debbie (Vencill) Gilliam, and Sherry (Schneider) Shultz; nephew, Larry Muhlenkamp; sister in-laws, Katherine (Bob) Mason, Clara (Fred) Vencill, and Marcella (Don) Hille; brother in-laws, John (Betty) Muhlenkamp, and Antone Muhlenkamp; daughter in-law, Kimberly (James) Muhlenkamp. &nbsp;Those left to cherish Opal’s memory are her husband of 69 years, Nicholas Bernard Muhlenkamp of North Platte; daughter, Mary Ann (Chuck) Anderson of North Platte; son, James (Anita) Muhlenkamp of Baker, West Virginia; grandsons, Charlie (Holly) Anderson of Hickman, NE, Ryan Muhlenkamp of Dale City, VA, and Nicholas (Jennifer) Muhlenkamp of Ladysmith, VA; granddaughters, Melissa (Dave) Ritner of Wilcox, NE, Audra Majors of Fredericksburg, VA, and Michelle (Christopher) Creed of Nashville, TN; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister in-law, Shirley Muhlenkamp of North Platte; brother in-law, Hank Muhlenkamp of North Platte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Church.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Berean Church with Bill Crooks and George Cheek officiating.&nbsp; Private burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery, near Maxwell on Monday, July 8th. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5th with the family receiving friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.carpentermemorial.com.&nbsp;

Marjorie Ann Reigle was born August 11, 1938, to Ray and Myrtle (Shefneer) Reigle on Calf Creek in Cherry Co., North of Mullen, NE. She was joined by her sister, Doris, in August of 1940.&nbsp;

Marjorie started going to a country school North of Mullen, and later attended and graduated from Mullen High School in 1956. Marjorie married Donald (Dutch) Pearson on December 21, 1957. To this union, four children were born: Julie, Linda, Donnie, and Susan.&nbsp;

After graduating from high school, Marjorie attended a teacher’s college in Kearney. She then taught in Cherry Co. School District for 2 years in a mobile school. Following this, she took some time off to raise her kids. In 1965, she began working as a receptionist at the Mullen Clinic where she worked with many doctors for 15 years. Following her time at the Clinic, Marjorie began working at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in 1994. Here she served in many capacities including a CNA, Activities Director, and Medical Record Coordinator. Marjorie worked here until her retirement.&nbsp;

Marjorie was very involved in the Mullen community. She was secretary of the Alumni Association, active in the Retired Teachers Association, taught Sunday school, enjoyed the Red Hat Society, and was an avid bowler. While serving as secretary for the Alumni Association, Marjorie was a part of a lot of change and growth. She was an integral part of creating the Alumni newspaper and the alumni book that is still enjoyed today. After losing their son, Donnie, in 1983, Marjorie and Donald joined Compassionate Friends as a part of their healing and to help other parents cope with grief. More than anything, Marjorie enjoyed supporting and being a part of the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Marjorie is survived by her three daughters, Julie (Mitch) Pfeiffer, Linda (Doug) Boyer, and Susan (Phil) Hoyt; grandchildren, Nikki (Tyler) Gracey, Traci (Brad) McCully, Jeri (Jake) Graff, Scott (Megan) Pfeiffer, Brett (Jessica) Boyer, Dessa (Miles) Cooksley, Darci (Brandon) Holling, Jacob (Kayla) Hoyt, and Caleb (Nicole) Hoyt; great-grandchildren, Haley (Matthew) Furrow, Brady, Chase, Abigail, and Eleah Gracey, Brittni (JT) Bradley, Brooke, and Brynne McCully, Ava and Elsie Graff, Andi, Thomas, and JJ Pfeiffer, Jepson Boyer, Connor, Carson, Mason, Maddox, Cora, and Mila Cooksley, Emersyn, Eden, and Lincoln Holling, Monty Hoyt, and Sutton Hoyt; and great-great-grandchild, John Tyler Furrow, and brother-in-law, Dean Marshall.&nbsp;

Becky L. Carson-Fitzgerald, age 63, passed away on June 30th, 2024, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Becky was a firecracker baby, born on July 4, 1960, to Jerry and Sharon (Porter) Carson in Alliance, Nebraska. Becky was the oldest of two children and deeply loved her little brother Stuart who gave her the nickname of Gus. She enjoyed her childhood living on the ranches where her parents worked, but especially loved it when she was old enough to get out of kitchen help and could work in the hayfield. Becky graduated from Hyannis High School in 1978. She attended several colleges and obtained several degrees throughout her lifetime including veterinary technician, accounting, and practical nursing. In the late 80’s, Becky met Matt Fitzgerald while working as a horse race association accountant and they were married on September 28th, 1990. While married, Becky and Matt welcomed two girls to the world; Jera on June 9th, 1994, and Page on August 25, 1996. In addition to loving her daughters, she was a devoted Aunt B to her niece, nephew, and great-niece. After divorcing in 2006, Becky spent the majority of her time following her girls to sporting events and the county fair but also enjoyed spending time with her friends. Later in life, Becky became a caregiver to both of her parents which required relocation from Rushville, Nebraska to North Platte, Nebraska. While in North Platte, Becky loved her job as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Great Plains Orthopedics. She greatly enjoyed her Ortho family. Becky found the most joy when spending time with her grandsons and was a devoted Grammy.&nbsp;

Additionally, she loved gardening, yardwork, working on her home, spending time with her friends, and taking trips with Stuart and Leah. She will be remembered for her love of Dr. Pepper, gas station Tornados, and Peeps; as well as her ability to crack jokes at the best times, her love for giving others a scare, enjoying western wear, and décor, her love for Independence Day, and her witty sense of humor. Becky spent the past year battling cancer and a variety of other health issues but has now found peace and comfort. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.&nbsp;

Left to cherish Becky’s memory are daughters Jera (Tyler) Werner, and Page (Tyler) Dahlgren; three grandsons Owen, Bo, and Baby Werner due in September 2024; Brother Stuart (Leah) Carson; Niece Ashley (Tim) Dowhower; Nephew Ben (Haley) Carson; and Great Niece Molly. Becky is also survived by her aunt Pat Porter and numerous cousins and friends who she loved dearly. Becky was preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Sharon Carson, grandparents Carroll (Bud) and Lucille Porter, and Gerald and Mabelle Carson.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2024, at 2:00 pm in North Platte, NE. At Becky’s request, the Celebration will take place at Another Round at 1008 W 18th Street, and attendees are encouraged to wear casual clothing; jeans, boots, and cowboy hats are always welcome! Darlene L. Welsh (1939-2024)

Martha L. (Edelman) Donason, age 86 of Ogallala, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.

Martha was born July 9, 1937; in her grandparent’s home in rural Thomas County near Seneca, NE. to Leo F. and Josephine M. (Morey) Edelman.

She attended rural school during the first and second grades, moving to Seneca for third grade through Junior High School. She graduated in 1955 after spending her Senior year at Thomas County High School in Thedford, NE. She then attended Chadron State College to receive her teaching certificate and continued taking classes in the summers and off-campus classes to keep her certificate current. From 1955 she taught for 17 ½ years in Sheridan, Dawes, Cherry, Garden, and Grant Counties. She stopped teaching in 1971.

She married Louis Jack Donason on July 1, 1958, at the Cherry County Courthouse in Valentine, NE. Together they lived on various ranches, where Louis worked and she taught in nearby schools. They leased land and began to fulfill Louis’s dream of ranching for himself. Martha became his main hired man and general helper. She was a cook, calving assistant and always worked in the hayfield. Her least favorite jobs were fencing and windmill repair.

She loved her horses and enjoyed calving and tagging her babies. In summer she always had a garden and canned much of her produce. She enjoyed knitting, and crochet and made clothing for her family. In 1983 she discovered craft shows and began selling her handmade items.

In 2004, they purchased a small acreage in Ogallala, NE, and retired there in 2005. Because of Louis's health was poor, they spent most of their time enjoying their home. They did enjoy attending horse sales and an occasional local roping.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Jean (Scott) Ladely, and son, Shane Donason; six grandchildren, Deri Ladely, Kassie (Fletcher) Hodges, Aron (Nancy) Ladely, Dalton, Colton and Morgan Donason; and six great-grandchildren Khain Ladely and Hunter, Blakely, Abbie and Ella Hodges and Sebastion Donason; her brother's and their wives,) John (Suzanne) and Mark (Dori), and Tom Edelman.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Louis Donason; her parents, Leo and Josephine Edelman, a sister Jill Edelman and brother Sidney (Linda) Edelman.

A private family inurnment will take place in the Lavaca cemetery in Irwin, NE.

Martha L. Donason (1937-2024)

Dallas Dean Petersen, 82, of Curtis, Nebraska, died June 30, 2024 in Curtis, NE. Dallas was born August 5, 1941 in Farnam, NE.

He was a Member of the Curtis Methodist Church, the Curtis American Legion and the Curtis Honor Guard. He served on the Curtis Airport Authority, the Curtis Telephone Company Board and the Frontier County Extension Board. He was very active with the 4H program and worked as a leader and as the Livestock Superintendent for the fair for several years. He was instrumental in getting the hometown carnival started in Curtis and participated in the Curtis Easter Pageant for many years. He enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, working on his Model A and his grandpa Nutt’s '54 Ford pickup.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Petersen of Curtis, NE; daughter, Tonia Petersen Hlavac of Lincoln, NE; son Bert Petersen and wife Deb of Curtis, NE; grandchildren Samatha Scherbarth and husband Kyle of Curtis, Dallas Petersen and wife Kaetlee of Curtis, Rachel Hlavac of Lincoln, Gavin Hlavac of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Natalie Scherbarth, Kaylee Scherbarth, Henry Scherbarth, Gabe Petersen of Curtis; sister, Joan Werkmeister of North Platte, NE.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents Harry Christian Petersen and Winifred Mae Petersen and his brother Delmar Lee Petersen all of Curtis, NE.

Dallas was born August 5, 1941 in Farnam, NE.He was a Member of the Curtis Methodist Church, the Curtis American Legion and the Curtis Honor Guard. He served on the Curtis Airport Authority, the Curtis Telephone Company Board and the Frontier County Extension Board. He was very active with the 4H program and worked as a leader and as the Livestock Superintendent for the fair for several years. He was instrumental in getting the hometown carnival started in Curtis and participated in the Curtis Easter Pageant for many years. He enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, working on his Model A and his grandpa Nutt’s '54 Ford pickup.Survivors include wife, Joyce Petersen of Curtis, NE; daughter, Tonia Petersen Hlavac of Lincoln, NE; son Bert Petersen and wife Deb of Curtis, NE; grandchildren Samatha Scherbarth and husband Kyle of Curtis, Dallas Petersen and wife Kaetlee of Curtis, Rachel Hlavac of Lincoln, Gavin Hlavac of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Natalie Scherbarth, Kaylee Scherbarth, Henry Scherbarth, Gabe Petersen of Curtis; sister, Joan Werkmeister of North Platte, NE.Dallas was preceded in death by his parents Harry Christian Petersen and Winifred Mae Petersen and his brother Delmar Lee Petersen all of Curtis, NE.Visitation will be held at Curtis Methodist Church, Curtis, Nebraska; Monday, July 8, 2024, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm.Services will be held at Curtis Methodist Church, July 9, 2024 at 11:00 am with Donna Johnson officiating.&nbsp;Interment will follow at Fort McPherson Cemetery.Memorials may be sent to the family for later designation.&nbsp;

Richard James Richter passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024 at the age of 71. &nbsp;

He was born August 18, 1952 in Huskerville, NE to Robert and Goldie “Irene” Richter. Because of his dad’s career with the Soil Conservation Service, the family lived in several cities while Richard was growing up, among them Broken Bow and Holdrege NE, Torrington, WY and Sioux Falls, SD. Richard graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1970.

&nbsp;As an adult, Richard had many jobs and just as many hobbies and friends. He owned and operated a successful lawn care business for many years and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed woodworking, listening to music, expanding his comic book and movie collections and traveling. Richard loved American history, particularly the Native Americans, and could tell story after story about battlefields, conflicts and heroes. He loved a good western movie and was a Nebraska Cornhusker football fan through and through. Richard was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand and his beloved father at his side, on a beautiful lake somewhere.

After Bob passed away in 2010, Richard and his mom lived in South Dakota until Irene’s health forced a move closer to family. Irene passed in 2016 and Richard moved to Sutherland, NE and later Gothenburg with family. He never knew a stranger, had the kindest heart and could see the good in everyone. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

&nbsp;Preceding Richard in death are his parents, Bob and Irene, his grandmother Minnie Dowson, and numerous aunts and uncles.

&nbsp;Richard is survived by his sister and a much loved niece, Carsen, of Palmer AK, his uncle Dean Dowson, as well as cousins Pete and Beth Cullan and family of Gothenburg, Eric and Janet Dowson and family of Great Bend KS, Tom and Meriann Emerson of Whitman, Leo and Judy Porter of Oshkosh and Leslie Moorhead of Gering.

Richard Richter (1952-2024)

Ted Lunn, age 77 of Ogallala, NE passed away peacefully at his home and joined his soulmate and best friend, Rita on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Ted was born in 1947 in Kansas City, KS to Ted and June (Garst) Lunn.

He entered the Navy and this led to meeting his beloved wife, Rita. After they wed, Ted left the Navy and moved to Colorado. They welcomed their first child, a daughter Mandie in 1971, and then their son Ty came along in 1973.

Ted worked on various construction sites and even helped build the Chatfield Dam. Ted and his wife then moved and opened their first carpet store in Thornton, CO. After Rita had her first bout of cancer, they wanted a fresh start and moved to Ogallala in 1984. They opened a small carpet store on the west side of town.

They then bought the Arthur Bay C-store and ran that for many years. As the carpet store grew, they moved to a larger location and incorporated a little thrift area called Mr. Bargain. A few years later after he purchased Central Auto and Diesel they moved to a larger location and started a furniture store as well, working alongside his family.

After the loss of his beloved wife in 2003 he sold the carpet and furniture store along with the auto shop. Retirement didn’t sit well with him and he decided to start Central Lock and Key.

In life, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and hanging out with his buddies.

In parting from this earth, he left behind his daughter Mandie (Marc) Block of North Platte, NE, and Son Ty (Tania) Lunn of Ogallala, NE; two grandsons Christopher and Benjamin Knudsen of Sandy, Utah.

In his passing a family reunion has been had with Ted and June Lunn, his parents; brothers Jim and Don Lunn, and best of all his beloved wife, Rita.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ted A. Lunn (1947-2024)

Our dear mother, Marcia Bieber, sadly passed away on June 30, 2024 at the age of 93. She was the wonderful mother of eight children who was always there when we needed her most, offering support, wisdom, humor, and love in abundance&nbsp;

Marcia Roddy was born November 29, 1930, in North Platte, NE, to Pauline Jeffers Roddy and Vincent Roddy. She lived her entire life in North Platte, the town she loved, with the exception of a brief period in Kansas City when her father was transferred for the Union Pacific Railroad, and the last four years when she resided in Lincoln. A 1948 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, she married Carl Edward Bieber in 1951 in St. Patrick’s Church. They were together 42 years until Carl’s death in 1993. All of their children graduated from St. Patrick’s.&nbsp;

Marcia was involved in several of St. Pat’s organizations and was an active member of the D.A.R., Catholic Daughters of America, and Lincoln County Democrats all her adult life. She valued the regular company of a large circle of women friends. After the last child left home, she enjoyed working with her friends at The Shepherds in downtown North Platte for 22 years.&nbsp;

She loved shopping for clothes, eating out, funny greeting cards, and a house full of family. The back door was always unlocked for anyone to stop by and stay overnight.

Marcia was devoted to her mother Pauline Roddy, and visited her daily after she gave up her home in 1998 and moved to Linden Court. She continued to visit residents there until 2019 when she moved to Lincoln to be near most of her children. &nbsp;

She is survived by her eight children: Diane Rawicz in Oakland CA; Mark Bieber (Ronda), Roddy Bieber (Diane), Carol Johnson, Gail Brabec, Steve Bieber (Melisia), all from Lincoln; Cecilia Sanford (Jeff) in Aurora CO, and Karl Bieber (Heather) in Omaha. She loved all her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law for their devotion to their spouses and their children. Marcia enjoyed the company of all 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her younger sister Frances Bushey lives in Omaha.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Haller, also of Omaha.

Marcia Bieber (1930-2024)

Janice Rae (Walton) Beza, 77, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at her home. &nbsp;Janice was born on August 4, 1946 in Sutherland, NE the daughter of Laverne E. and Leona M. (Isaacson) Walton.

Janice graduated from North Platte Senior High School in 1964, with continuing education via night courses at Mid-Plains Community College with an emphasis in business accounting and real estate.

She married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Beza in North Platte on March 7, 1964, and were blessed with the birth of their son Michael in 1970. &nbsp;She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, LWML Circle, American Legion Auxiliary, and a volunteer for the “Goodfellow Shoe Fund” and North Platte Christian Women’s Club, and a former member of NP Volunteer Firemen’s Auxiliary.

She spent over 40 years in the workforce, and had the privilege of working at several local businesses before retiring in 2011 from the IRS as a Taxpayer Resolution Representative.

She enjoyed Bible Studies, meeting friends for coffee, cards, board games, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku. &nbsp;She and Dick enjoyed taking dance lessons and dancing. &nbsp;They traveled throughout the U.S. and including overseas to Germany.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Warren “Baldy” Linstrom; sister, Betty Jo Warwick; brother, Jerry Walton; nephew, Jeffrey Walton; her husband’s siblings and family members to include sister-in-law, Karole Bell; great-niece, Wende White, and great-nephew, Bill White.

Those left to cherish Janice’s memory are her beloved husband of over 60 years, Dick; son, Michael; stepsister, Debra Sparkman of Oregon; many nephews and nieces and their families, including Patrick McNeil of North Platte, Dennis McNeal of Lincoln, Deborah Essex of Cozad, her Goddaughter, Kimberly Grimes of Omaha, as well as many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or donor’s choice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Deardoff officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th with the family receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Janice Rae (Walton) Beza (1946-2024)

&nbsp;Leona Duryea, age 85 of Broken Bow, formerly of Mason City, NE passed away on June 29, 2024, at the Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow.&nbsp;

Leona Luise Bradford Duryea, was born February 12, 1939, in McNary, AZ to Andy and Pearl “Richardson” Bradford and was raised in California.

On August 15th, 1958, she married LaVern Albert Duryea in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked as a Civil Service contract employee and LaVern was stationed in the Army.

They returned to Nebraska and raised a daughter and 2 sons, owning a small engine mower and welding shop on Green Street, Mason City, and raising gardens and small livestock completed activities on their acreage.

Leona and LaVern also drove the school bus and were members of the Mason City Fire &amp; Rescue squads.

She was a lifelong member of the Ansley Methodist Church.

Leona finished her career as a CNA in Broken Bow for over 30 years in long-term care. Most recently, she has received wonderful care from former co-workers at Brookestone View where great staff provide Angel’s work!

&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVern; and her two brothers, Wiely and Fred, daughter-in-law Betty Duryea, and numerous in-laws.

&nbsp;She is survived by children, Cynthia (Bryan)Trimble, Matthew (Paula)Duryea, and Andy (Angela) Duryea; 5 grandkids; Katrina, Brooke, Erica, Evah, and Andy Jr.; and lots of great-grandkids.

&nbsp;A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Dean Millsap officiating. The inurnment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. Most recently, she has received wonderful care from former co-workers at Brookestone View where great staff provide Angel’s work!&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVern; and her two brothers, Wiely and Fred, daughter-in-law Betty Duryea, and numerous in-laws.&nbsp;She is survived by children, Cynthia (Bryan)Trimble, Matthew (Paula)Duryea, and Andy (Angela) Duryea; 5 grandkids; Katrina, Brooke, Erica, Evah, and Andy Jr.; and lots of great-grandkids.&nbsp;A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Dean Millsap officiating. The inurnment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. A visitation and time to greet the family will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Harold Bose, 83, of Palisade, passed away early Thursday morning, June 27, 2024 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Cremation was chosen and memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. &nbsp;Committal services with military honors at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska will take place at 3:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2024.

Dennis Allen, 80, passed away June 28, 2024 in Ogallala with his family at his side.&nbsp;

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Oshkosh. Services will conclude at the funeral home with a gathering of family and friends to follow at the Oshkosh Eagles Club.

Dennis Lee Allen was born in the Oshkosh Hospital on July 4, 1943 to Charles “Murl” and Gladys Alta (Nigh) Allen. He was welcomed home by his parents and older brother Herschell to the family homestead northeast of Oshkosh.&nbsp;

He was welcomed home by his parents and older brother Herschell to the family homestead northeast of Oshkosh.&nbsp;After graduating from Garden County High School in 1961, Dennis moved to California, where he worked at multiple bowling alleys, first as a manual pin setter, then maintenance. It was there that Dennis learned the trade of machining, which he would carry throughout his life. Dennis also became interested in Harley Davidsons and the open road while in California. In 1965, Dennis became a father to Dana Lee, and went on to raise her as a single father for the next decade.&nbsp;Dennis and Dana returned to Oshkosh and Scottsbluff for a number of years before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the early 70s. It was in Milwaukee that Dennis would meet and marry Betty, combining their families in 1974. Tammy Lee was born to the couple in 1981.In 1986, Dennis returned to Oshkosh and moved to the homestead Allen Ranch for good. He owned and operated Allen Machine Shop in Oshkosh until 1999. At that time, he joined the Garden County Road Department, where he was the Garden County Road Superintendent until retirement in 2008.&nbsp;Dennis was known for his love of life and especially his boisterous laugh, which could be recognized in any crowd. Dennis was always creative, and it seemed like he could fix anything. He enjoyed working with his hands, building and restoring several Harleys and classic cars throughout his lifetime. He loved living on the Allen Ranch, knowing that after exploring in his youth, Garden County was his home. Dennis was able to live out the remainder of his life at the ranch he so loved.&nbsp;Dennis is survived by his wife Betty of Oshkosh; daughters Dana Martinez of Oshkosh and Tammy (Craig) Chamberlin of Kearney; son Mert of North Platte: grandchildren Amanda, Nathan, Jesse, Scott, Trenton, and Madison; 8 great grandchildren; cousin Bill (Lynn) Jameson nephew Pat (Sue) Allen, niece Joanne Allen as well as many other relatives and friends.&nbsp;Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Herschell, nephew Mike, and son-in-law Ryan.
