Carol J Robb (1940-2022)

Corrlis (Cory) Joan Walkom Aabak passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home, Lake Ogallala, Keystone NE on January 31st, 2022 at the age of 65 years. She was surrounded by her loved ones.&nbsp; Cory was brought into this world alongside her twin sister Corrine on September 24, 1956 to Walter Irwin and Fern Audrey (Friedrick) Walkom in Midale, Saskatchewan. Being the youngest of 6 children encouraged her to be a spirited, athletic and inquisitive child. After her father's passing when she was 3 years old, her mother Fern worked several jobs to support her family. Fern also provided Room and Board to many local hockey players from the Estevan Bruins. In 1963, when Cory was 6, Fern married Clifford MacPherson and added 4 more children from Cliff’s previous marriage into the fray. After graduating from Estevan High School in 1975, Cory went on to work several jobs, sometimes three at the same time. She lived in Calgary for several years, making many friends until moving back to Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1979. It was back in her hometown, where she met the love of her life; Edward Aabak. The first time she met him she told a coworker that she “was going to marry that man one day.” Six years later, in 1987, she did. After their three children were born, Cory and Ed moved south of Canada and made new roots in Denver, CO due to Ed’s thriving career in Oil &amp; Gas.&nbsp; Although Cory and Ed had three biological children, they also had many unofficial ones that were just as loved. Cory always said, she could have had ten children if she had gotten the chance. Her unconditional love and nurturing spirit shined through everything she did. Cory’s favorite thing in life was to nourish others with good food and even better conversation. You would often find her sitting across the kitchen table listening with an open heart and a steaming cup of coffee as others shared their struggles and successes with her. In 2007, Cory and Ed built their forever home on Lake Ogallala, just across from the Lake Mac campground where they had spent nearly 15 summers. One of Cory’s favorite views was right in her kitchen staring out at Lake Ogallala, watching all the wildlife fly or amble by while her Labrador companions Cajun and Jackson chased some of the slower critters. For more than a dozen years her and Ed created innumerable golden memories with their family and friends at the “Shack on the Lake”.

Cory's witty, feisty, and beyond generous spirit will always be remembered by her loving husband Ed; sons, Chad Aabak, Lake Ogallala, Kyle (Ava) Aabak, Warsaw Missouri; daughter, Codi Rae (Hale) Rosendahl, Montgomery Alabama; brothers, Keith Walkom, Grand Prairie Alberta, Allan (Donna) MacPherson, Sylvan Lake, Alberta, John MacPherson, Indian Head SK Canada; sisters, Corrine (Wayne) Blomberg, Estevan Sask, and Myrna Henry, Regina SK., brother-in-law Brian (Linda) Aabak, Edmonton, AB, sister-in-law Linda (Mike) Leblanc, Joussard, AB; and grandchild-to-be (Kyle &amp; Ava; due in August). There are also countless nephews, nieces and other cherished family and friends that will treasure her memory forever. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Clifford MacPherson; brothers Marshall Walkom, Conrad Walkom, Grant Walkom, and Blaine Walkom (in infancy); and sister Dorene; and brothers-in-law Allan Marr and Harvey Henry.

Finch Albert Nicholas, age 100, died January 29, 2022 at Centennial Care Center in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was born August 12, 1921 in North Platte to Harley and Golda Nicholas.&nbsp; He grew up on a farm in the Platte Valley area.&nbsp; Finch worked at PFE Railroad at least thirty years and retired in 1981.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Alice J. Page on December 17, 1941 in Ogallala, Nebraska. They were married sixty-two years.&nbsp; Finch and Alice built their own home along Hwy 83 in 1951, he has lived there for seventy years.&nbsp; Finch was always helpful with any projects his family had big or little, even remodeling and building homes.&nbsp; When anyone in the family had vehicle problems, he was the person to call. Finch leaves behind a daughter, Jackie Konruff, North Platte, Nebraska; sons, Perry (Char) of Hershey, Nebraska, Edwin (Dianne), Glendale, Arizona, Gary (Kristi), Littleton, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He is preceding in death by his wife, Alice; parents, Harley and Golda; a sister, two brothers and a son-in-law.&nbsp;

James M. “Mike” Johnston, 69, of North Platte passed away January 31, 2022 at his home in North Platte.&nbsp; Mike was born September 13, 1952 to James Albert and Mary Lou (White) Johnston in North Platte.&nbsp; Mike moved with his military family all over the country.&nbsp; He graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of 1971.&nbsp; He entered the U.S. Army in 1972 and served in Hawaii.&nbsp; After his discharge, he returned to Sutherland and then worked for Monroe Auto in Cozad for several years. Mike moved to North Platte and worked with his father in their honey business.&nbsp; He also worked for Pony Express as a courier, later working for the City of North Platte.&nbsp; Mike enjoyed movies and was devoted to taking care of his parents.

Mike is survived by his brother Pat (Bobbie) Johnston, North Platte; two nephews, Ryan (Emily) Johnston, Worland, Wyoming and Travis (Michelle) Johnston, Hutto, Texas and nine great-nieces and nephews; along with numerous other family members and friends.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Lou; two sisters, Cheryl and Barbara.

James "Mike" Michael Johnston (1952-2022)

Ronald Dennis Padgett, 75, of Curtis, Nebraska, died January 29, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; Ron was born September 7, 1946 in Colorado Springs, CO, son of James and Lela G. (Lamb) Padgett.&nbsp; He grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and attended his schooling there graduating with the class of 1964.&nbsp; Ron served his country in the Air Force as a Sergeant from October 1968 - October 1975.&nbsp; On May 28, 1983 Ron married Rhonda Davis in Garden City, KS.&nbsp; He worked as a meat inspector for the USDA until his health wouldn't allow him to.&nbsp; Ron loved to fish, hunt, and being with his family. On Wednesday, December 27, 1967 he married Sharon Phillips in Aurora.&nbsp; Royce served on multiple boards including in Elwood: School board, Care Home board, senior center board, and from the Chamber of Commerce help start the Old Fashioned Christmas.&nbsp; He also served on the Regional and General boards of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Board of Trustees of Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma.&nbsp;

Family members that will always remember him are: his wife of over 54 years, Sharon; daughter, Brenda and husband Kendall Weyers; sons, Kirk and wife Karen Corder and Darin and Philippa Corder and grandsons; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Lowell Gehring; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard and Sally Phillips along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends everywhere.

Royce Rex Corder (1941-2022)

Rosalie (Kay) Etherton of Cozad, Nebraska passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 82. Kay was born December 3, 1939 north of Willow Island to Luther Clarence Ristine and Thelva (Elliott) Ristine. Their family moved to Waco because of Luther’s declining health. There, he opened a barbershop. Luther passed away when Kay was 3 years old. Thelva, Kay, and sister Kathy then moved to Ravenna to be close to family. Kay attended Kindergarten in Ravenna. Thelva met Austin Fredrick Bates at a farm sale where she had bought a load of cobs to burn for her stove. Austin offered to deliver the cobs for her and a courtship began from November to June. Thelva and Austin married and their family lived in two different farmhouses with no electricity or indoor plumbing outside of Hazard, NE where Kay attended 1st grade, and in Litchfield, NE where she attended 2nd grade through her Sophomore year. The family moved to a ranch outside of Halsey, NE and the family grew by 5 more children: Jeanne, Lois, Austin Jr., Cheryl, and Joan. Kay finished the last two years of high school in Halsey, NE and then attended the Teacher’s College at Kearney State. She accepted a position at Gothenburg, NE teaching 4th grade for 2 years. Kay met Lloyd Clayton Etherton on a blind date set up by Kay’s college friend and Lloyd’s friend, Shirley &amp; Max Beyl. They married on June 4th, 1961 beginning their lives together on a farm south of Cozad. Their farm produced corn, alfalfa, soybeans, hogs, and cattle. They filled their modest farm home with love and laughter which they lavished on their three children Kathy, Clay, and Debbie. Their children were taught a love for the Lord, love of country, and gratitude for the things we were blessed with…mostly each other. Kay spent much of her time being a stay-at-home mom, gardening, canning, cooking, and baking to feed her family. She loved baking and was known for her pies and baked goods. Once the children were in school she enjoyed substitute teaching for country schools and Cozad Elementary. She also worked for several years during the ’90s at the Educational Service Unit #10 where she served as a house parent and homework supervisor. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She loved to take trips, vacationing many times in Estes Park, Branson, Oklahoma, Pinedale, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, as well as trips to Washington State and California to visit family. There was a special trip to Hawaii their children surprised them with for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. Kay and Lloyd were life-long members of the First Presbyterian Church of Cozad, NE.&nbsp; Kay enjoyed Faith Circle and Women’s Association. She was an Elder in the church that served on the Fellowship Committee. One of her favorite duties was accompanying the minister while taking communion to shut-ins and enjoying a good visit. Kay and Lloyd enjoyed the birth and lives of their seven grandchildren. They celebrated the gift of their lives, their activities, and interests. Kay was so proud of all of them.

Preceeding her in death was her husband Lloyd; her sisters: Kathy Ristine, Doris (Gunnard) Johnson, Helen (Bob) Voisey, Betty Anderson, Ruth (Russ)Hunter, and Jeanne (Larry) Brooks; brothers: Austin Bates, Archie (Lois) Ristine, and Beryl Ristine; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law: Roger Nespor, Violet (Pete) Brooks, and Ken (Betty) Etherton. Surviving Family includes sisters Cheryl Nespor, Lois (Jim) Hughes, Joan (Gary) Waugh, and Sister-in-law Betty Bates; many loved nieces and nephews; children: Kathy and Craig Simpson of Lincoln, Clay and Robin Etherton of Cozad and Debbie Eisenhauer of Lincoln. Kay Etherton (1939-2022)

Larry D. Lashley age, 83, of Culbertson passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022, with daughter&nbsp;Paula&nbsp;and grandchildren present. He was born north of McCook in Red Willow County on July&nbsp;30, 1938, to Elmer and Hazel (Blake) Lashley. &nbsp;He attended school and graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1956. In August of 1958, he was united in marriage to Jeniene&nbsp;Weskcamp. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2021.&nbsp; Larry served his country in the U. S. Army and was Honorably Discharged. He and Jeniene lived in Colorado Springs where&nbsp;they&nbsp;owned and&nbsp;operated&nbsp;a drywall supply company. In 1997, the couple moved to the farm&nbsp;in Nebraska. Larry enjoyed the farm, raising crops&nbsp;along with a herd of Black Angus cattle. He&nbsp;enjoyed playing pool,&nbsp;hunting,&nbsp;and fishing. He and Jeniene loved to go to Vegas, Tahoe, Cripple Creek, Blackhawk, and Reno to partake in the joys of gambling at the casinos.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Larry Dale Lashley (1958-2022)

&nbsp;Calvin Ward Vincent, 82, a longtime resident of Trenton, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at his home in Trenton.&nbsp; He was born to Ward and Martha (Greene) Vincent on January 9, 1940 in Huron, South Dakota.&nbsp; He was one of eleven children.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Calvin was a of jack of all trades.&nbsp; At a young age, he was employed by a company that built grain elevators. This work took him all over the Midwest.&nbsp; He also worked in a tire and service station, and as a crane operator, he then worked his way up to being a driller in the oil fields.&nbsp; Calvin made his final move to Trenton in the mid 1970’s where he was known for being a local handyman, welder, and started a long career in the tree trimming and removal business.&nbsp; He worked with and mentored most of the men currently serving southwest Nebraska as tree trimmers. &nbsp; &nbsp;Calvin was married to Carol Jean Sutton, Shirley Ione Vanderveer, and Debra Elaine Seybold.&nbsp; His first two marriages ended in divorce and Debra preceded him in death in 2010.&nbsp; He was a loving father and a friend to everyone.&nbsp; Calvin enjoyed hunting and butchering in his younger years.&nbsp; He was not one to sit still, unless of course, there was an episode of Gunsmoke on the TV.&nbsp; He will be fondly remembered by his family and countless friends.

 </figure>&nbsp;Calvin Ward Vincent, 82, a longtime resident of Trenton, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at his home in Trenton.&nbsp; He was born to Ward and Martha (Greene) Vincent on January 9, 1940 in Huron, South Dakota.&nbsp; He was one of eleven children.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Calvin was a of jack of all trades.&nbsp; At a young age, he was employed by a company that built grain elevators. This work took him all over the Midwest.&nbsp; He also worked in a tire and service station, and as a crane operator, he then worked his way up to being a driller in the oil fields.&nbsp; Calvin made his final move to Trenton in the mid 1970’s where he was known for being a local handyman, welder, and started a long career in the tree trimming and removal business.&nbsp; He worked with and mentored most of the men currently serving southwest Nebraska as tree trimmers. &nbsp; &nbsp;Calvin was married to Carol Jean Sutton, Shirley Ione Vanderveer, and Debra Elaine Seybold.&nbsp; His first two marriages ended in divorce and Debra preceded him in death in 2010.&nbsp; He was a loving father and a friend to everyone.&nbsp; Calvin enjoyed hunting and butchering in his younger years.&nbsp; He was not one to sit still, unless of course, there was an episode of Gunsmoke on the TV.&nbsp; He will be fondly remembered by his family and countless friends.&nbsp;&nbsp; Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife Debra Vincent; son, Melvin Stehlik; son, Clint Vincent; and siblings: Rusty, Tommy, Dorothy, Shirley, Mavis, Gene, Dale, Jim, and Sandy. &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his son, Calvin Wade Stehlik of Nevada; daughter, Anita Marie Flanigan of Trenton; daughter, Dawn Annette Krueger and husband, John, of Tehachapi, California; daughter, Joleen Renae Neel and husband, Gordon of Belleville, Illinois; son, Jeffrey Shannon Vincent of Atwood, Kansas; daughter, Amanda Kay Felker and husband, Scott of McCook; sister, Linda Johnson of Gettysburg, South Dakota; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp; Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM at the Herrmann-Jones Chapel in Trenton. &nbsp; &nbsp;Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Church of God in Trenton with Pastor Johnny Walker officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow services in the Trenton Cemetery. &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the family of Calvin Vincent for future designation.&nbsp; Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.&nbsp; Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Deborah "Deb" Ann Klein, age 59, passed away at the Aurora Medical Center in Aurora CO on January 22, 2022.&nbsp; She was born in McCook on January 26, 1962 to Donald and Norma Reiners Klein.&nbsp; Deb graduated from McCook High School and then attended McCook Community College on an Art Scholarship earning an Associate Degree.On June 7, 1997, Deb married Donny Reis and to this union one son Zachary was born.&nbsp; Zach was the pride and joy of Deb's life.&nbsp; Along with being very active in her son's life, Deb also worked for Klein's Motor &amp; Electric until the business closed in&nbsp;2018 and Midwest Livestock Commission.&nbsp; Deb went to work for Tri State Livestock after Klein's closed and worked the sales as the internet&nbsp;clerk and checked in cattle which she really enjoyed.&nbsp; She also worked at D &amp; D Cattle helping on the farm and with the cattle.Deb was an outstanding artist and used her talents to design logos for local businesses. She&nbsp;enjoyed gardening along with watching wildlife, especially the cardinals.&nbsp; One of her favorite places to visit was Estes Park, CO where she did have a close encounter with a bear that was memorable. Mava Jane Hurd was born March 7, 1931, at Haxtun, Colorado, to Frank R. and Eleanor M. (Seaman) Schultz. As a youngster, she grew up and attended school in Imperial, graduating from Chase County High School in 1948. She continued her education attending Colorado Women’s College, in Denver, Colorado. Mava Jane married Ralph Clayton Hurd in July of 1949, in Haxtun, Colorado, and the couple settled in Imperial. Mava Jane assisted Ralph in his construction contracting business and together they owned and operated Hurd’s Café and Steakhouse on Broadway Street in Imperial for many years. Mava Jane was a member of the Episcopal Church, and the local Eagles Aerie. She served on the Imperial Library Board, and the local Freedoms Foundation. Mav Jane enjoyed crafting, playing bridge, and she especially loved to cook. Mava Jane passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. She was 90 years of age. Mava Jane Hurd (1931-2022)

On Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 94, Stella Donovan Cheek joined her beloved husband, Merle, in Heaven. Stella was the first child born to Francis and Mamie (Lyon) Donovan on March 12, 1927, in Phillips County, KS. Her parents had three children in three years, all born in March. Due to drought and repeated crop failures, the Donovan family was encouraged by others to move to Colorado and they did. They first lived in Coal Creek Canyon above Denver, then to a small ranch near Grover, then Gill, and after a few more moves they returned to the Grover area and by 1939 welcomed four more children. Over the years the Donovan family made other moves around Colorado. When Stella was young she did not have the opportunity to attend church so her mother taught the children that they should strive to please Jesus by being kind, obedient, helpful and live for Him. Later on, Stella had a Christian teacher named Loraine who was a wonderful role model and friend as she grew up. In 1942, Stella went forward at a revival meeting and trusted Christ as her Savior. Stella attended grade school at Barnesville and high school in Grover, Greeley and Briggsdale. After graduating Stella received an emergency teaching certificate so she taught in rural schools right out of high school. She attended summer school then enrolled in Rockmont College (now Colorado Christian University) in Denver. While in college, Stella met Merle Cheek, a student a year ahead of her. It was his love for the Lord that brought them together as friends. In December 1950, under a gentle falling snow, Merle proposed to Stella. They were united in marriage on June 27, 1951, and their love kept them together for 70 years. As Stella and Merle were finishing college, they lost their first child due to a premature birth. They moved to South Dakota for a short time to help with a small Christian high school (Stella was dorm mother and cook) but returned to Steamboat Springs. Over the years they welcomed four more children and raised their family in Steamboat Springs. They were members of Euzoa Bible Church where Stella was involved with teaching Sunday School, conducting Children's Church, was Christian Education Director, and attended Women's Fellowship. In 1969, the Cheeks bought the inventory of a Bible bookstore and started 'Bible, Book and Gift Shop' right out of their home. Stella was the owner/manager for over 18 years and had the privilege of serving several small towns in the area with Bibles and Sunday School supplies. Their son, George, and Dr. Ivan E. Olsen approached Stella and Merle and invited them to Maranatha Bible Camp as retiree volunteers in 1987. Stella was given the opportunity to be a manager of the gift shop and she had the privilege of doing so for 20 years. She continued volunteering in her later years in the kitchen laundry, doing a small but helpful job. Stella enjoyed good health all her years and was able to take life one day at a time with the help of the Lord.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband and infant daughter; her parents, Francis and Mamie Donovan; brothers, Walter, Paul and Clyde Donovan; and sister, Lois Grouns. She is survived by her sons, George (Janice) Cheek of Maxwell and Warren (Carol) Cheek of LaGrange, WY; daughters, Lavon Cheek of Steamboat Springs, CO and Donna (Gary) Mahnken of North Platte; grandchildren, Kris (Natalie) Cheek, Tara (Jeff) Kautz, Silas (Amanda) Cheek, Elaine (Nora) Cheek, Charissa (Ethan) Cole, Michael (Cassandra) Mahnken and Katie Mahnken; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jocelyn, Kristyn, Kristopher, Josiah, Kate, Emma, Isaac, Isabella, and Maddox; her sisters, Ellie (Tony) Nass of Mankato, MN, and Mamie Johnson of George, IA; sister-in-law, Shirley Donovan of Beaver City; as well as many other family.

Cindy grew up and attended school in Colorado where she graduated with the class of 1977 from Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado. On August 9th, 1979, Cindy married Randy Ray Roesener in Boulder, CO, and the couple settled in Imperial, Nebraska. Cindy was employed at the Chase County Roads Department, Hill’s Family Foods and Prairie States Communications. She was a member of the Imperial Library Board and in her free time, Cindy enjoyed knitting, reading, camping, fishing and playing cornhole. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Cindy passed away January 29, 2022, at the Imperial Manor, Imperial, Nebraska. She was 63 years of age. Lynn Derry Kramer, 76 of Sutherland, passed away on Thursday,&nbsp; January 27, 2022 at the Sutherland Care Center .&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;He was born on July 4, 1945 to Archie and Opal (Arnett) Kramer&nbsp; in&nbsp; Ogallala, NE.&nbsp; He attended district 33 rural schools in Grant County and graduating from Arthur County High School in 1964.&nbsp; Lynn moved to Denver where he was employed at Denver Auto Tech as an auto fender and body technician for about 20 years.&nbsp; Lynn then went on to sell real estate in Colorado until the 1970's when he moved to Lemoyne, NE and started an auto body shop.&nbsp; In the 1980's, he relocated to Sutherland where he worked for Hub repair, eventually purchasing that business.&nbsp; In the 1990's, Lynn went to work for Ogallala Ready Mix as a gravel pump operator.&nbsp; Lynn enjoyed helping his brother Bob on the ranch at Arthur whenever he could.&nbsp; Lynn loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing and hunting arrowheads.&nbsp; He found many over the years.&nbsp; Lynn was a generous man and would do anything for you.&nbsp; He enjoyed children and loved his nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Lynn was also very talented and could do anything he set his mind to.&nbsp; He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Survivors include 1 sister Joan Larsen of Arthur, two brothers Robert (Ann) Kramer of North Platte and Lyle (Sue) Kramer of Highlands Ranch, CO.&nbsp; Sister in law Arlene Kramer of Loveland, CO. Lynn D. Kramer (1945-2022)

Ashley Marie Maser, 37, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away suddenly in the evening of January 24, 2022. She was born April 6, 1984 in Alliance, Nebraska to Vicki Reno and Mark Maser.

Ashley attended North Platte High School. She later had her two children Kylie, 19, and Kaeden, 17, Adams.

Ashley was a bright and energetic soul who loved to spend time with her children, family, and friends. She always had a smile on her face and brought joy to everyone around her. A few of her hobbies included painting and listening to music, and she loved watching her niece and nephews. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially cats and owls. She also loved her children with everything she had and enjoyed watching them play sports.

Ashley is survived by her children Kylie and Kaeden Adams and her mother Vicki Reno, her brothers Jon Zimmerman, Chris and Seth Maser, as well as her sisters, Candice Turner, Samantha Maser, her nieces and nephews, Allison and Michael Esmeier, Brayden, Benjamin, and Adelynn Maser, and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Maser, her sister, Laurie Esmeier, her grandparents, John and Gladys Maser, her uncle, Michael Maser, and her other grandparents, Charles and Leona Reno.

Margaret Elizabeth “Maggi” Welch, 75, of North Platte, passed away January 30, 2022 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; She was born September 27, 1946 to Hershy and Kathryn (Kirk) Welch in North Platte.

Maggi has been a baptized member of Episcopal Church of Our Savior since she was nine years old.&nbsp; Her hobbies include painting, drawing, crocheting and other crafty projects.&nbsp; Maggi loved to read and write; she was a self-published author of a book of short stories and wrote an unpublished novel entitled “Crusade for the Lost”.

Maggi is survived by brother, David Welch; nephew, David Welch; cousin, Linda Greeley; best friend, Shirley Quig.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Hershy and Kathryn; sister, Ann Gamble.

North Platte resident, Greg Bailey, unexpectedly died at Great Plains Health on January 30, 2022. He was 55 years old. Greg was born to Cecil, Jr. and Kathleen Bailey on October 5, 1966, in North Platte where he grew up. Greg graduated from NPHS and later hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as an Engineer for over 20 years. On August 4, 1989, Greg married Ranelle McIntosh in North Platte where they made their home. After retiring from the railroad, Greg had more time to enjoy being with his family and playing with his grandson. He also liked to do leather work and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen and Cecil Bailey, Jr.; brother, Mike Bailey; and Ranelle. Survivors include his sons, Mitchel Bailey, of North Platte and Marcus Bailey, of Grand Island; grandson, Jett Carter Bailey; his special friend, Carrie Easton, of North Platte; his brothers, Tom (Yvonne) Bailey, Pat (Wende) Bailey and Kelly Bailey (Janean Dorram), all of North Platte; sisters, Brenda (Neil) Deertz, of North Platte, Lisa (Mark) Johns, of Chicago, IL, and Sharyl (Dave) Poletti, of Pennsylvania; and other family.

Greg Bailey (1966-2022)

Ronald&nbsp;Connick, of Sutherland, NE, passed away surrounded by his family at Great Plains Health on January 30, 2022, following recent health complications. He was 74 years old. Ron was born at Lynch, NE, on November 22, 1947, to Darrell and Frances (Thompson) Connick. While growing up, Ron attended school in Niobrara, NE, Colon, SD, then Spencer and Bassett, NE, and eventually Elgin after moving there in the summer of '63. He went on to graduate with the Elgin Public Class of 1966. On June 14, 1969, Ron was united in marriage to Diane Bennett in Elgin and to this union three sons and a daughter, Patrick, Kelly, Troy and Michael, were born. Ron worked at the Hormel Plant in Fremont, was the parts man for Bennett Implement in Elgin, then sold insurance for Liberty America. After living in Marble Falls, TX, the family moved to Windsor, CO, in the '90's then to Tryon. Ron hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a Diesel Mechanic until retiring in 2015. Ron was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte. He loved being around children and enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader and a youth coach. He also served on the Elgin and McPherson County Fire Departments. Ron was a wonderful husband and loved being around family, his children, grandchildren, great-grandson, nieces and nephews. He also loved camping, fishing, hunting and just being outside. Anytime he could, he would take the family camping and fishing. They spent a lot of time together on the Missouri River and Ron even taught his kids and others how to water ski. Ron was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Connick; brother, Ken Connick; sister-in-law, Karen Connick; and stepfather, Jerry Prewitt. North Platte resident, Ed Doucette, passed away at his home on January 29, 2022, at the age of 70. Ed was born to Edmond and Alfhild Doucette on August 16, 1951, at Scobey, Montana, where he grew up. After graduating from high school, Ed went to mechanic school in North Dakota. He married Bonnie Zessin on February 3, 1973, at Scobey and they have been together for 49 years. Ed worked for a plumbing company in Grand Island and for Buckyrus-Erie before hiring on with the Union Pacific Railroad. Over the years, his work took him to various places in Montana, Idaho and Nevada until September of 2000 when the UPRR brought him and Bonnie to settled in North Platte. Ed had many hobbies and was a member of a gun club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Alfhild Doucette; son-in-law, Aaron Burks; and grandson, Adan Luke Burks. Survivors include Ed's wife, Bonnie, and daughter, Amanda (Marshall) Gallegos, of North Platte; sons, Michael (Debra) Doucette, of Honeyville, UT, and Douglas (Sharla) Doucette, of Chubbuck, ID; his brother, Daniel Doucette, of Seattle, WA; sisters, Linda (Mike) Bellows, of Thompson Falls, MT, Karleen (Terry) Howard, of Puyallup, WA, and Laura Ide, of Eagle River, AK; as well as 6 grandkids, 3 great-grandkids, and other family.

Ed Doucette (1951-2022)

Patrick McKane Kasson, 94, of North Platte, NE and formerly of Wilsonville and McCook, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home in Linden Estates.&nbsp; He was born on December 31, 1927 in Wilsonville, NE, son of George and Ada (Cline) Kasson. Patrick grew up near Wilsonville and was the valedictorian of his class at Wilsonville High School.&nbsp; He grew up and attended school with his childhood sweetheart, Norma Jeane Wilson, and on Christmas Day 1945 they were married.&nbsp; He then entered the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was honorably discharged in 1947 at Point Ft. Lewis, Washington.&nbsp; He started work as a farmer alongside his dad and brother and then went on to a career as a loan officer and manager of the Farm Credit in McCook, retiring in 1993.&nbsp; In 1999, they moved to North Platte to be closer to their grandchildren.&nbsp; Patrick was a 70-year member of the Masonic Lodge and 50-year Order of the Eastern Star Eureka Chapter 86 in McCook, McCook Lions Club, Lake Maloney Golf Club, and was a politically active Democrat.&nbsp; He enjoyed golfing, fishing, walking, mountain climbing, and held his pilot license for flying.

Surviving him are his wife of 76 years, Norma; sons, Steven P. Kasson (Connie) of Claremore, OK, and Stuart Kasson (Colleen) of Liberty, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Kasson Evans (Steven) of North Platte; grandchildren, Shane Kasson (Gina), Kari Williams (Vince), Kandi Buchwald (Darrin), Kraig Kasson (Morganne), Sarah Evans and Laura Evans; 8 great-grandchildren; nephew, Mike Kasson. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ada; brother, Curtis Kasson; and nephew, Dennis Kasson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with Masonic Service at 5:30 p.m., and on Thursday, February 3rd&nbsp;from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.&nbsp; A luncheon will follow at the Wilsonville church, with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Wilsonville Cemetery with Kurt Kasson officiating.

Lewis, Washington.&nbsp; He started work as a farmer alongside his dad and brother and then went on to a career as a loan officer and manager of the Farm Credit in McCook, retiring in 1993.&nbsp; In 1999, they moved to North Platte to be closer to their grandchildren.&nbsp; Patrick was a 70-year member of the Masonic Lodge and 50-year Order of the Eastern Star Eureka Chapter 86 in McCook, McCook Lions Club, Lake Maloney Golf Club, and was a politically active Democrat.&nbsp; He enjoyed golfing, fishing, walking, mountain climbing, and held his pilot license for flying.Surviving him are his wife of 76 years, Norma; sons, Steven P. Kasson (Connie) of Claremore, OK, and Stuart Kasson (Colleen) of Liberty, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Kasson Evans (Steven) of North Platte; grandchildren, Shane Kasson (Gina), Kari Williams (Vince), Kandi Buchwald (Darrin), Kraig Kasson (Morganne), Sarah Evans and Laura Evans; 8 great-grandchildren; nephew, Mike Kasson. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ada; brother, Curtis Kasson; and nephew, Dennis Kasson.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with Masonic Service at 5:30 p.m., and on Thursday, February 3rd&nbsp;from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.&nbsp; A luncheon will follow at the Wilsonville church, with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Wilsonville Cemetery with Kurt Kasson officiating.Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.&nbsp; Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in North Platte.&nbsp; Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed to the family at&nbsp;<a href="http://www.carpentermemorial.com/">www.carpentermemorial.com</a>.&nbsp;

Audrey Kissell, age 92, of Broken Bow formerly of Sargent died January 29, 2022, at Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. Memorial services will be held on February 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Don Schauda officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Mt. Audrey M. Kissell was born on December 3, 1929, at Palmyra, NE to Harold D. and Doris (Baldwin) Maloy.&nbsp; Audrey graduated from Palmyra High School and later graduated from Wesleyan Teachers College in Lincoln.&nbsp; While attending college Audrey met Duane D. Kissell at a dance at The University of Nebraska, where Duane was attending college.&nbsp; The couple was married on June 14, 1952.&nbsp; After Duane’s service in the Navy, the couple moved to the Kissell family farm west of Sargent in 1956.&nbsp; Audrey worked side by side with Duane.&nbsp; She milked cows (41 years), fed cows, and helped with all aspects on the farm.&nbsp; Duane died in 2005.&nbsp; Audrey moved to Arbor care in Ord, then eventually Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. Audrey enjoyed horses.&nbsp; She rode five gaited horses in English style. &nbsp;Audrey was also equally talented riding bareback.&nbsp; She loved music and played the piano especially enjoying violin duets with her father.&nbsp; She also did crochet, sewing, gardening, canning, and helping her children with 4-H projects.&nbsp;

Audrey is survived by her son Greg (Sue) Kissell of Sargent, a daughter Laura Lea (Jeff) Miller of Kansas City, MO, three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, her&nbsp; husband Duane, a son Kirk, brother Eugene Maloy, sister in law Viola Maloy and daughter in law Wendy (Dearmont) Kissell.
