Robert G. Lefevre, age 43, passed away on 29 September 2020, in El Paso, Texas. Robert was born on November 1, 1977 in San Gabriel, California to Guy Lefevre and Florence Magnuson. Rob grew up in San Gabriel, Chino, and Rancho Cucamonga, all located in Southern California, and attended school in Chino and Etiwanda where he was a member of the Etiwanda High School band, graduating from Etiwanda High School in May 1995. After a brief enlistment in the United States Army, he was discharged honorably and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from California State University at San Bernardino in 2005 while also a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. After a short stint as a substitute teacher in California, Rob re-entered the United States Army where he not only spent the majority of his career overseas but was also able to fulfill his dream of performing with the Army Band while also earning numerous awards and achievements. During his time in the Army Rob made countless new friends, met special people, and continued his passion for learning by completing his Master’s Degree in Sciences at the University of Nebraska in 2020, and had planned to enter into the field of Entomology after his retirement from the Army in 2022. His interest in this field led him to teach entomological education at Kaiserslautern High School while stationed in Germany. As a member of the Army Band he was fortunate in traveling to and performing in countries such as Japan, Germany, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Poland, Ecuador, Vietnam, France, Hong Kong, Australia, El Salvador, Guam, Netherlands, China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic.

As a child, Rob was a member of the Civil Air Patrol which assisted youths interested in pursuing a career in the Air Force after high school graduation. Rob was a deep lover of music, having been self-taught on the electric bass guitar since age 15, becoming involved in several local bands, as well as a competition where he ended up winning a bass guitar, taking that same bass guitar home and then redesigning it from the inside out to his exact specifications and liking. At age 17 he undertook his own project and built his own bass guitar from scratch. Rob also played the tuba, drums, cello, French horn, and standup bass, all of which were also self-taught. Rob’s music interests were eclectic in nature, listening to artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, NOFX, Green Day, Van Halen, R.E.M., Primus, New Order, Alice in Chains, the Reverend Horton Heat, jazz, and just about anything from the Motown era. Rob was a seasoned traveler, having enjoyed scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and riding his beloved motorcycle on the Autobahn in Germany. Rob was content spending time with family and friends, but, like any musician with their instrument, seemed to be at his absolute happiest when it was just him and his bass guitar. Outside of the Army Band, he performed in numerous club bands while he was stationed overseas, stepping in where and when necessary regardless of the music genre. Rob was also a lover of cooking, baking, and experimenting in the kitchen as much as possible, often flying by the seat of his pants when it came to his culinary skills. Rob was also extremely skilled in the world of computers and electronics and was generally regarded as his family’s own personal tech support as it seemed there wasn’t a computer dilemma he couldn’t handle.

He is survived by his mother, Florence; father, Guy; stepfather David; sister Lonni (Torres) Garcia, brother-in-law Vince Garcia, step-brother Eric Magnuson, sister-in-law Renee (Lammers) Magnuson, step-brother Joel Magnuson, step-sister Amy Magnuson, nephews Adrian and Nicolas Garcia, Adam Magnuson, Logan Magnuson, Ryan Magnuson, and nieces Marisa Garcia, Sarah Magnuson, and Amara Magnuson. Rob’s wit, intellect, and infectious charisma made him well-loved and admired by virtually everyone who ever met him. During various times of his military career, Rob was a volunteer music teacher giving selfless hours of music instruction to Department of Defense Educational Activity students. If you choose to do so, you may make a donation in Rob’s name to any local high school music program as music appreciation was something he was devoted to and very much loved passing on to children.

Robert G. Lefevre  (1977-2020)

Jack O. Schaeffer, age 87, of North Platte passed away at his home in North Platte, NE on October 4, 2020. He was born on December 19, 1932 at North Platte, NE to Pete and Edith (Gardner) Schaeffer. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School with the Class of 1950.

He served in the United States Army beginning February 17, 1953 and was Honorably Discharged on February 14, 1955.

Jack returned to North Platte and married Louisa Vath on October 10, 1959, and to this union six children were born. Jack worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Machinist his entire career. He retired in 1994 after 44 years.

He was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. He especially loved camping with his family. He really enjoyed working with the high school reunion committees.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Dan Boren; and special little friend, MaKenna Walters.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Louisa; children, Julie (Scott) Charlton, Deb (Paul) Gibbs, Barb (Rich) Boren-Stoen; Kent (Patti) Schaeffer, Rod (Sondra) Schaeffer, and Kathy (Lowell) Schmidt; sister, Virginia Bayne; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Interment will followed at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Carpenter Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Janet Rose Barnhart, age 73, of North Platte, NE passed away unexpectedly due to ALS on October 3, 2020 at UNMC in Omaha, NE. She was born October 22, 1946 at Scottsbluff, NE to Henry and Elsie Hass and grew up in Scottsbluff, NE.

She was united in marriage to Edward Lee Barnhart on September 5, 1965 at Minatare, NE. They lived in Sidney, NE and in 1975 moved to North Platte, NE. To this union 3 children were born.

Janet was a member of First Presbyterian Church in North Platte, NE. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Janet was thrilled to find out she was going to be a great grandmother again to 2 more babies both coming in December due just days apart.

She loved holiday and family get together’s and any chance to spend time with her family was so important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for these special events.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Elsie Hass.

Janet Rose Barnhart  (1946-2020)

Calvin “Cal” William Roggow, age 92, of North Platte, NE went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 2, 2020.&nbsp; He was surrounded by family singing hymns as he entered Heaven.&nbsp;

Cal was born November 23, 1927 in Burke, SD to William Godfried and Ione Grace King Roggow.&nbsp; He was raised in the small farming community of Lucas, SD.&nbsp; He was the first of his siblings to attend high school, graduating valedictorian of his class from Burke High School in 1945.&nbsp; In 1946, he entered the United States Army, where he served for nearly two years in postwar duties.&nbsp; Following his honorable discharge, Cal attended Grand Island Business School, where he received his degree in advanced accounting in 1949.&nbsp; He began his career at Orin Contryman and opened their first branch office in Kearney, NE.&nbsp;

He met his wife, Mary Lois Smith, while in college in Grand Island.&nbsp; They were married June 18, 1950 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past June.&nbsp; They welcomed their first son, Lowell Calvin while living in Kearney.&nbsp; In 1952, Cal accepted a job with Hansen Fuenning, a CPA firm in North Platte.&nbsp; After moving to North Platte, the family continued to grow to include Carla Lynne and twins Beth Rynae and Brian Ross.&nbsp; After receiving his CPA in 1970, he became a partner in the CPA firm that grew to be called Hansen, Fuenning, Raetz, Erb, Roggow &amp; Keck.&nbsp; He later founded his own CPA firm called Roggow, Miller &amp; Neidhart.&nbsp; Over the years, he mentored many young CPAs and had a special gift for guiding them into furthering their own careers.&nbsp; In 1990, he sold his practice to Dennis Miller and Tom Neidhart but continued to work part time filing tax returns for long-term clients and friends until the age of 82, thus ending his 61-year career as a CPA.

Cal was a hero of his faith and an inspiration to all who knew him.&nbsp; He had a deep commitment to Jesus, family, clients, and friends.&nbsp; For many years, he was a strong leader in his church, never hesitating to fill any role, including elder/board member, Sunday School teacher, treasurer, song leader and even occasional pianist!&nbsp; He sought to support missions in many ways, opening their home often to missionaries and pastors.&nbsp; His gift of giving was always generous, selfless, and discrete.&nbsp; He also served the community by offering his accounting expertise to Christian organizations.&nbsp; These included Youth for Christ, radio station KJLT, Calvary Assembly (now New Life Church), North Platte Berean Church, Maranatha Bible Camp, and many others.&nbsp; He belonged to the Gideon Bible Association, the Full Gospel Businessmen, and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.&nbsp; He deeply valued education and served on the Evangel University Council for many years.&nbsp; He also volunteered his accounting skills to Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, CO from 1955 to 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ione; in-laws Ross and Florence (Palser) Smith; brothers Vilas, Darrell, Stanley, and Larry Roggow; sister Avis Swift; sister-in-law Naomi Roggow; brothers-in-law Dwaine Swift and Hugh Townsend; and nephew Dwight Roggow.&nbsp;

Cal is survived by his wife Mary; his “baby sister” Darlis Townsend of Springfield, MO; Lowell (Cheri) of Colorado Springs, CO and their children, Brittany, Ross (Erika), and Braden (Katherine); Carla (Jay) Wardrobe of Gandy, NE and their daughters Gina (Les) Smith and Jana Woods; Beth of North Platte and her children Paige and Brendan Delany; Brian (Elaine) of Springfield, MO and their children Brinnae (James) Keathley, Brian Ross II, Bridget, and Brock; great grandchildren Liv and Bronson Roggow, Caspian and Bristol Keathley, one to be born in December, Sarah (Chris) Murphy, Blake and Jacob Smith, and Riley and Max Woods; sisters-in-law Amy Roggow of Colome, SD, Shirley Roggow of Gregory, SD and Donna Roggow of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew Brent (Shannon) Roggow of North Platte and their children Lyndsey, Whitney, and Brenton.&nbsp; The family would also like to extend their sincerest appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Andrea Alvarado and Allison Steele for their loving and tender care of Cal over the last three and a half years.

We were greatly blessed to have had him in our lives for so long. His kind and gentle spirit, smile, and the twinkle in his eye remained throughout his life, and he will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Cal’s life will be held at North Platte Berean Church on Saturday, October 10 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors Ray Corlew and John Stone officiating. Burial to follow with Military Honors at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens Cemetery.Visitation and Book Signing will be 9:00a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 with the family receiving friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.

 </figure>Calvin “Cal” William Roggow, age 92, of North Platte, NE went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 2, 2020.&nbsp; He was surrounded by family singing hymns as he entered Heaven.&nbsp;Cal was born November 23, 1927 in Burke, SD to William Godfried and Ione Grace King Roggow.&nbsp; He was raised in the small farming community of Lucas, SD.&nbsp; He was the first of his siblings to attend high school, graduating valedictorian of his class from Burke High School in 1945.&nbsp; In 1946, he entered the United States Army, where he served for nearly two years in postwar duties.&nbsp; Following his honorable discharge, Cal attended Grand Island Business School, where he received his degree in advanced accounting in 1949.&nbsp; He began his career at Orin Contryman and opened their first branch office in Kearney, NE.&nbsp;He met his wife, Mary Lois Smith, while in college in Grand Island.&nbsp; They were married June 18, 1950 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past June.&nbsp; They welcomed their first son, Lowell Calvin while living in Kearney.&nbsp; In 1952, Cal accepted a job with Hansen Fuenning, a CPA firm in North Platte.&nbsp; After moving to North Platte, the family continued to grow to include Carla Lynne and twins Beth Rynae and Brian Ross.&nbsp; After receiving his CPA in 1970, he became a partner in the CPA firm that grew to be called Hansen, Fuenning, Raetz, Erb, Roggow &amp; Keck.&nbsp; He later founded his own CPA firm called Roggow, Miller &amp; Neidhart.&nbsp; Over the years, he mentored many young CPAs and had a special gift for guiding them into furthering their own careers.&nbsp; In 1990, he sold his practice to Dennis Miller and Tom Neidhart but continued to work part time filing tax returns for long-term clients and friends until the age of 82, thus ending his 61-year career as a CPA.Cal was a hero of his faith and an inspiration to all who knew him.&nbsp; He had a deep commitment to Jesus, family, clients, and friends.&nbsp; For many years, he was a strong leader in his church, never hesitating to fill any role, including elder/board member, Sunday School teacher, treasurer, song leader and even occasional pianist!&nbsp; He sought to support missions in many ways, opening their home often to missionaries and pastors.&nbsp; His gift of giving was always generous, selfless, and discrete.&nbsp; He also served the community by offering his accounting expertise to Christian organizations.&nbsp; These included Youth for Christ, radio station KJLT, Calvary Assembly (now New Life Church), North Platte Berean Church, Maranatha Bible Camp, and many others.&nbsp; He belonged to the Gideon Bible Association, the Full Gospel Businessmen, and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.&nbsp; He deeply valued education and served on the Evangel University Council for many years.&nbsp; He also volunteered his accounting skills to Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, CO from 1955 to 2000.He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ione; in-laws Ross and Florence (Palser) Smith; brothers Vilas, Darrell, Stanley, and Larry Roggow; sister Avis Swift; sister-in-law Naomi Roggow; brothers-in-law Dwaine Swift and Hugh Townsend; and nephew Dwight Roggow.&nbsp;Cal is survived by his wife Mary; his “baby sister” Darlis Townsend of Springfield, MO; Lowell (Cheri) of Colorado Springs, CO and their children, Brittany, Ross (Erika), and Braden (Katherine); Carla (Jay) Wardrobe of Gandy, NE and their daughters Gina (Les) Smith and Jana Woods; Beth of North Platte and her children Paige and Brendan Delany; Brian (Elaine) of Springfield, MO and their children Brinnae (James) Keathley, Brian Ross II, Bridget, and Brock; great grandchildren Liv and Bronson Roggow, Caspian and Bristol Keathley, one to be born in December, Sarah (Chris) Murphy, Blake and Jacob Smith, and Riley and Max Woods; sisters-in-law Amy Roggow of Colome, SD, Shirley Roggow of Gregory, SD and Donna Roggow of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew Brent (Shannon) Roggow of North Platte and their children Lyndsey, Whitney, and Brenton.&nbsp; The family would also like to extend their sincerest appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Andrea Alvarado and Allison Steele for their loving and tender care of Cal over the last three and a half years.We were greatly blessed to have had him in our lives for so long. Robert Lawrence Shirley, age 90, passed away at Centennial Park in North Platte, NE on October 2, 2020. He was born on April 6, 1930 in Indianola, NE to Thomas and Isabel (Wagner) Shirley. He grew up in the area and graduated from Curtis Agricultural High School. He joined the United States Army and served in Korea from 1950 to 1952.

Bob married Jean Sloan on February 20, 1954 and to this union, two children were born: Mark and Brad. After marriage, Bob and Jean farmed near Stockville, NE then Bob worked for the Maywood Co-op. Bob and Jean purchased the grocery store in Maywood in 1959 from Deed Failing then moved it to the Perkins Building in 1965, owning and operating it for 35 years. Bob also was a rural mail carrier in Maywood and North Platte.

Bob was a member of the Maywood United Methodist Church for 58 years. Bob was a strong supporter of the area community being involved in the Community Improvement Program as well as many service organizations. Bob enjoyed buying and selling yearling cattle and spending time feeding them.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tom, Jim, and Bill as well as sister, Marge.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean of North Platte, NE; sons, Brad (Tawna) Shirley of Maywood, NE, Pam Shirley of Hutchison, KS and Mark (Deb) Shirley of Encampment, WY; sister, MaryAnn Norgaard of Maywood, NE;&nbsp; grandchildren, Joe of Lexington, NE, Laura of Montreal, Canada, and Josh of Denver, CO; four great-grandsons, Carson, Kye, Hamish, and Oscar.

Memorials are suggested to the Maywood United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Maywood United Methodist Church with Pastor Bequi Flores officiating. Robert Lawrence "Bob" Shirley  (1930-2020)

Jeffery L. VanCura (Jeff), 66, of North Platte went to be with the Lord on October 3rd, 2020. He was born August 24, 1954 in Lewellen to Henry and Marie (McVay) VanCura. Jeff grew up in various rural areas around Nebraska. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1972 and enlisted in the Navy as a Seabee in January 1973.&nbsp;

Jeff married Jody Brault on November 23rd, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jeff and Jody had three children; Angel (Jason) Foran, Jamie (Virginia) VanCura and Amanda VanCura. They divorced in 1995. Jeff later married Bonnie Marquardt on August 17th, 1997 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. From this marriage, Jeff gained two additional daughters; Sherri (Steve) Smith and Jenni (John) Peterson.&nbsp;

Jeff was discharged from the Navy January 1977. Jeff and Jody then moved to California where he was a member of the Carpenters Union in San Jose, until the family settled in Nebraska in 1983. &nbsp;Jeff worked various jobs from 1983-85 from driving a school bus to being a hired hand but mostly construction work. In 1985 Jeff joined the Perkins County Sheriff’s Department. In 1992, Jeff transferred to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in North Platte where he retired in May 2006. He then worked at Union Pacific until he retired in 2017.

Jeff loved his children and grandchildren so much. He loved attending their events and you could see his eyes light up when he was holding his babies. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed with friends and family. Jeff loved to camp and fish, playing pool and restoring old cars. He also enjoyed &nbsp;riding his motorcycle and attending the Sturgis Rally for many years. He loved football and would attend Husker games whenever possible. Jeff also loved construction and almost always had a “project” &nbsp;going.&nbsp;

Jeff joined Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church after he and Bonnie were married. Jeff is survived by his wife, children, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one grandson.

A memorial will be established at a later date. The family is having a private memorial service. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 am- 5:00 pm, Thursday, October 16 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey Lynn 'Jeff' VanCura  (1954-2020)

Lois A. Shea, 57, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 5, 2020 at Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lois was born May 8, 1963 in Cozad, NE to Elvin and Imogene Hansen Buss. Lois attended school in Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School in 1981. She then went on to a business college in Denver, CO.

Her first job was at Paulsen Building and Supply in Cozad, NE after college. Lois went to work for Bellamy Grain and All Points Cooperative for over 12 years.&nbsp; She was employed at Petersons Supermarket in Gothenburg for 17 years an was currently employed at Flatwater Bank in Gothenburg working as a loan clerk.&nbsp;

Lois married Thomas Shea on March 14, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union one son Matthew was born.&nbsp; She was a member of&nbsp; First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg, NE.

She loved attending her sons activities at school and was very active in her sons life. She loved taking long walks with her dog, and enjoyed kayaking.

Survivors include husband, Thomas E. Shea of Gothenburg; son, Matthew Shea of Gothenburg; Sister - Cindy (Dan) Finnegan of Cozad, Brother Tim (Kim) Buss of Cozad; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert Shea and special friend Madonna McGovern of Alexandria, VA, Jim Shea of Holdrege, Lisa (George) Hendricksen of Cozad, Amy Oxford of Broken Bow, Bill Shea of Fremont and Sally (Paul) Schumacher of Omaha, two aunts, Arlene Beans and Joyce Wolf, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She married Gilbert Gerald Bartman and they lived in Kearney until moving to North Platte in 1961.&nbsp; Carobell went to work cleaning houses until she and Gilbert bought Lions Cleaners. She worked until they closed the cleaners in 1995. Carobell was an active member of Harvest Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed going on church retreats and loved watching TV and DVD's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; parents, Clarence and Martha Mott; and brother, Everett Mott. Carobell is survived by her children, Don Bartman, Rosemary (Harold) Grandy, and Linda (Fay) Herndon, all of North Platte; grandchildren, Karen Herndon (Alan Sullivan), Todd (Alisha) Herndon and Amanda (Shane) Bishop; great-grandchildren, Britelahn and Javan Bishop, Taylor and Gunner Herndon, and Harper Sullivan; and other family. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;After a long, brave battle with cancer, Don Bratten passed away peacefully in his home on September 24, 2020 at the age of 70.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Donald Lee Bratten was born on May 24, 1950 in North Platte, Nebraska, the third of four children of Minnie (Anderson) and Joseph 'Joe' Bratten.&nbsp; Don grew up on the family ranch started by his Swedish immigrant grandfather, Charles Bratten, outside of Brady, Nebraska.&nbsp; He attended Brady Public School where he was the Valedictorian of his high school class, and his three children followed suit.&nbsp; He went on to attend Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska.&nbsp; There he majored in biology and played linebacker for the Lopers Football Team.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;While Don was taking his last semester at Kearney State College, he met Sheryl Olson of Minden, Nebraska and they married.&nbsp; They moved to Brady, Nebraska in 1973 and had three children - Adam, Chad and Aimee. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;While living outside of Brady, he worked proudly alongside his father and helped run the 3000 acre family ranch with his wife, Sheryl.&nbsp; Don was very proud of his Swedish heritage, and many of his relatives settled in Gothenburg and Brady in Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In the mid-1980's, Don transitioned into Ag Real Estate before becoming an investment advisor until his retirement.&nbsp; Don loved sports and competition, especially football and basketball.&nbsp; Don was his children's summer sports team, which often took them across the country.&nbsp; He enjoyed taking his children to Colorado for ski trips and to Lincoln, Nebraska for Cornhusker Football games, something he eventually did for his grandchildren as well.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Every Saturday he rooted for his favorite team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, or cheered on his kids playing football, basketball or volleyball at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.&nbsp; In the later years, he could be found playing racquetball multiple times a week.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;No one was ever a stranger to Don.&nbsp; He loved talking to people and learning their stories.&nbsp; Don loved to laugh and joke with people and he loved cards, especially cribbage and rummy.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On the ranch, one of his favorite activities was taking the family sledding in the pasture.&nbsp; After leaving the ranch, Don became an avid gardener, implementing Sheryl's designs.&nbsp; He worked tirelessly through the year to maintain his landscaping.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Don became a man of strong faith, and dedicated time to devotionals and reading the Bible up until his last days.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Don is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minnie Bratten; and his brother, Rich Bratten. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Bratten; his children Adam Bratten, Chad (Jodie) Bratten, and Aimee (Brian) Davis; sisters Carolyn (Joe) Straub and Madelyn (Gary) Bishop; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;With the hope of helping others, Don donated his body for medical research.&nbsp; The family will hold a private celebration of life.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family in his name for a later designation and can be sent to Berryman Funeral Home, PO Box 42, Cozad, Nebraska 69130, which is in entrusted with the arrangements.

Donald Lee Bratten  (1950-2020)

Marcia Misegadis  (1947-2020)

Louis "Lou" Jay Goold, age 70, of Wellfleet, Nebraska died on September 20, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; Lou was born on January 12, 1950 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Jay and Marie (Stone) Goold.

He grew up in Brule, Nebraska and graduated from Brule High School in 1968 and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Biology Degree in 1972.&nbsp; Lou married Vicki Seickman on February 10, 1973.&nbsp; To this union 3 children were born:&nbsp; Jamie, Jennifer and Aaron.&nbsp; Their family lived in Ogallala, Nebraska where he was a mechanic for Nebraska Public Power.&nbsp; He married Becky Andresen on July 24, 1988 and the couple lived north of Hershey, Nebraska for several years until they moved north of Wellfleet, Nebraska.&nbsp; Lou retired in 2013.&nbsp; He had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and was renowned for his mechanical abilities with pan head engines.&nbsp; He made many trips to Sturgis.&nbsp; Lou loved the outdoors, taking his family camping often.&nbsp; He had many friends and will be remembered as very loyal and treated them like family.&nbsp; He was a very honest person, sometimes to a fault, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

She always put her family above all others and was selfless to everyone.&nbsp; Samantha loved her family and her dogs, not always in that order.&nbsp; Samantha and her partner, Brad, created a family as they raised 6 girls.

Samantha Marie Markey  (1981-2020)

Fred Arthur Baugher, age 73, of Stockville, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

He was born on February 27, 1947 at Sandwich, Illinois to Harriet and Russel Baugher.&nbsp; Fred grew up in Marseilles, Illinois and spend most of his life being a collector and building outhouses as well as about 70 banks throughout Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska in his lifetime.

He served in the United States Army, doing a tour of duty in Korea from February 24, 1967 and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1968.

Fred is survived by his siblings John Baugher of Marseilles, Illinois, Theresa Rose of Tyler, Texas, James Baugher of Greenville, South Caroliina, David Baugher of Baytown, Texas, Ruth Higby of Washington, Missouri, and Gerald Baugher of Thompsville, Illinois;&nbsp; numerous nieces and nephews; longtime friends Jan Laux and Benny Lashley; his poodle, Inky; and many other friends.

Graveside services were held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Full Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to the family for a later designation.

 </figure>Fred Arthur Baugher, age 73, of Stockville, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado.He was born on February 27, 1947 at Sandwich, Illinois to Harriet and Russel Baugher.&nbsp; Fred grew up in Marseilles, Illinois and spend most of his life being a collector and building outhouses as well as about 70 banks throughout Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska in his lifetime.He served in the United States Army, doing a tour of duty in Korea from February 24, 1967 and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1968.Fred is survived by his siblings John Baugher of Marseilles, Illinois, Theresa Rose of Tyler, Texas, James Baugher of Greenville, South Caroliina, David Baugher of Baytown, Texas, Ruth Higby of Washington, Missouri, and Gerald Baugher of Thompsville, Illinois;&nbsp; numerous nieces and nephews; longtime friends Jan Laux and Benny Lashley; his poodle, Inky; and many other friends.Graveside services were held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Full Military Honors.Memorials may be made to the family for a later designation.Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, Nebraska was entrusted with arrangements.&nbsp; Online condolences may be left at www.carpentermemorial.com.

Cecilia Adams  (1921-2020)

Richard Laverne Hansen of Cozad, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 88. He was born a tiny 3.5 pound premature baby on January 19, 1932 in Cozad, Nebraska to Anton E. and Alene A. (Osburn) Hansen. They lived in the Cozad area and several other Nebraska locations while his father pursued work during the depression. Dick attended all 12 years of school in Cozad District 11, other than a short time at Dawson Co. Rural District 26.

He graduated from Cozad High School in 1950, debated college, but delayed that decision anticipating being drafted. Dick was offered a job at First National Bank in Cozad where he began his banking career in October of 1950. He served there until his retirement in March of 1994, with exception of 2 years he spent with the US Army in Korea during the conflict.

Dick was a member of the Cozad United Methodist Church. He was always available and delighted to be involved in many local celebrations and projects beneficial to Cozad.

His lifelong interest in airplanes led him to building, flying, and competing with radio controlled model airplanes. he also enjoyed restoring and driving antique cars.

Dick met Anne Gronewold of Gothenburg in early 1951. They continued with a 2 year flow of letters while Anne finished high school and he served in Korea. They were married on December 4, 1955. To this union were born 3 children, Lana Dee, Linda Kay and Lynn Marie. He, Anne and the girls, when possible, took numerous interesting trips to England, Scotland, Italy, and other close by countries in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China and Canada.

One of Dick and Anne's favorite trips was in 1990 when they shipped their small 1952 British MG roadster to England with a group of 88 cars of the same vintage. They drove 2500 miles from the Northern tip of Scotland to the Southern tip of England. Lana was able to join them for on week during their stay in Abingdon, England where all MG's were manufactured until 1980.

Anne's death was just 90 days before their 50th anniversary. He was especially thankful for the support of his family, friends and special friend Bev Anderson.

Dick was proud to have been born, raised and life long resident of Cozad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Alene; his beloved wife, Anne; and his daughters, Linda, Lynn and Lana. 

Dick is survived by his cousins, Marty and Dan Wright of Cozad, Ardyce and Gene Dickey of Cozad and Dale and Donna Holbein of Lexington; close friends, Dail and LaVonne Vetter of Cozad; and extended family and friends.

Richard Laverne Hansen  (1932-2020)

Maxine M. Klein of Cozad, Nebraska passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Summer Place Nursing Home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 97.&nbsp; Maxine was born March 12, 1923 at Hastings, Nebraska to Henry and Doris (Ronnfeldt) Boudreau. Her family moved to Cozad in 1932 where she graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1941. 

Maxine married Jacob Klein on December 1, 1942 in Cozad, Nebraska while he was home on furlough.&nbsp; Maxine worked at Armour &amp; Co until 1945 and then in 1960 went to work as a secretary at the Cozad Medical Clinic. She retired in 1993. 

She was a member of Cozad United Methodist Church and was in the Leah Circle Women's Society. She also volunteered at 100th Meridian Museum, Thrift Shop, Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.&nbsp; Maxine was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and making quilts. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob Klein and infant sister. 

Survivors include her son Bryan (Debbie) Klein of Texas; 2 grandchildren, Makayla Klein of Texas and Kaleb Klein of Colorado.

Maxine Marie Klein  (1923-2020)

Mildred C. Engler, age 80, of McCook, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Millie was born March 27, 1940 in Oconto, Nebraska to Elmer Robert and Ruth Lilly (Wright) Flint.&nbsp; She was one of three daughters born to this union.&nbsp; Millie attended school in Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School with the Class of 1958.

On June 8, 1958, shortly following her high school graduation, Millie married the love of her life, Billy Engler in Lexington.&nbsp; They became the proud parents of three children.&nbsp; Billy served his country in the United States Air Force and Millie was proud to be a military spouse. &nbsp;

Millie was instrumental in starting the Lexington Walmart in 1984 and stayed with the company until her retirement in 2008.&nbsp; Prior to her position at Walmart, Millie worked at Hellman’s Variety Store in Lexington. &nbsp;

Following the death of daughter Karla J. Engler in 1985, Millie began volunteering for the Nebraska Crisis Hotline. She found healing in her ability to counsel others and continued to volunteer until 2015. Millie also volunteered for the HOST Reading Program at Lexington Public Schools. &nbsp;

Millie faithfully attended the Lexington Evangelical Free Church and in her free time enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, bowling and was an avid reader. &nbsp;

Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Engler; daughter Karla J. Engler; sister Betty Gale; brother in law, Hugh Cheever; and grandson, Sean Swanson.

Those left to celebrate her life include her sons, Roger (Hillerie) Engler and Jeff Engler, all of McCook; sister, Marlyn Cheever of Hershey, NE; grandchildren, Allan (Jessica) Engler, Miranda (Ross) Spencer, Matthew (Chelsie) Thayer, Hunter Engler and Cory (Kirstin) Engler; as well as eight great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends. &nbsp;

A memorial service was held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Reynolds Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington, Nebraska.

Robert Ren Kramer was born on November 25, 1942 in Valentine, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was one of four children born to Ren R. and Sylvia (Copeland) Kramer.&nbsp; Bob received his formal education in the Valentine School system, graduating from Valentine Rural High School.

He served his country by serving in the United States Army, being inducted on October 27, 1964 and being honorably discharged on June 30, 1985.

Bob married Katherine Tappe on September 23, 1967 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wine making, and bird watching.&nbsp; His greatest love was his family and spending time with them

Bob passed away on September 21, 2020 at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine at the age of 77.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father, Ren Kramer, and his mother, Sylvia Sharp; a brother, Fred Kramer; and a sister, Phyllis Kramer Duryea.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughers Patricia Sherman, Roberta (Matt) Lomax, and Dorothy (Rex) Gallino; and a son, William Kramer; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Lee Kramer.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dick Witt was born to Walt and Grace (Taye) Witt on April 12, 1940 in Ainsworth, Nebraska.&nbsp; He attended Ainsworth School.&nbsp; Dick worked at Ford Motors in Ainsworth detailing cars. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He later made his home in Valentine, Nebraska to be closer to family.&nbsp; As time went on, he went to Oakwood Assisted Living on April 11, 2011.&nbsp; That is where he resided until his death on September 19, 2020 at the age of 80. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dick's hobby was collecting trucks.&nbsp; His greatest joy was being with Craig touring the city and visiting family.&nbsp; He loved his nieces and nephews and was very fond of dogs. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He leaves to morn his brother, Bob, and sister-in-law, Elsie Witt and his sister Judy Mayhew; along with a host of nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter &amp; Grace Witt; sisters Jackie Fowler and Shirley Witt; and brothers Walter and Kenny Witt.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dick will be missed by everyone. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A memorial graveside service was held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Ainsworth South Cemetery.&nbsp; Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine, Nebraska was entrusted with the service arrangements.

Dick Witt  (1940 - 2020)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta Arlene Wendt Draucker Thiems, age 102, of Ogallala, Nebraska died on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Welcov Assisted Living in Ogallala. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta was born on February 8, 1918 in Swedeburg, Nebraska to Emil and Olivia Swanson Wendt.&nbsp; The family moved to Kimball, Nebraska six weeks later, residing there for 7 years.&nbsp; Arta started school there at the age of 6.&nbsp; The family then moved to Elm Creek, Nebraska in 1925 and lived there for 5 years.&nbsp; The Wendt family settled at a farm north of Keystone, Nebraska in 1930, where Arta attended Liberty Knoll School. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta married Clyde Draucker on July 7, 1936 at Keystone, Nebraska.&nbsp; They were married by the Rev. Campbell.&nbsp; Two children were born, Carol and Roger. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta &amp; Clyde moved to the family farm that had been owned by Gar and Agnes Draucker, located 5.5 miles north of Keystone.&nbsp; They lived on the farm for 45 years, moving to the Pete and Wanda Peters place south of Roscoe, Nebraska in 1981.&nbsp; Clyde died on March 26, 1983 after a battle with cancer. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta married Roger Thiems on November 20, 1988 in the Keystone Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; Roger died on June 29, 2000.&nbsp; Arta remained in their home in Keystone until moving to the Welcove Assisted Living in 2013. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta was very active in&nbsp; her community, serving as a bloodmobile volunteer beginning in 1948 up until 2010, the Keystone Library Club from 1936 until her death - 83 years of active membership, and the Key Club in Keystone as well. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;During WWII, she would prepare sandwiches, along with other women from the area, get on the train at Ogallala, and travel to North Platte to help serve the soldiers at the Canteen in North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She also enjoyed cards with the neighbors, remaining an avid card player her whole life.&nbsp; She was a great dancer and never missed a dance here or in Arizona, where she wintered. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by four brothers - Ralph (Ethel Mae), Clarence (Wanda), Willard (Bus) (Lorna), and Dorsey (Thelma) Wendt; two sisters - Thelma (Harry) Trim and Beulah (George) Blomenkamp; and a son-in-law, Kenny Most. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta is survived by her son, Roger Draucker of Keystone, Nebraska; her daughter, Carol Most of Ogallala, Nebraka; her step-son Rick (Deb) Thiems of Alliance, Nebraska; grandchildren Jeff (Tena) Most, Fred (Carmel) Most, Lance Most, Dave (Natalie) Draucker, Jason (Diana) Draucker, Brian Draucker, Tyler Thiems, and Ashley Thiems Dudden; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; and her special friend &amp; caregiver, Daisy Garcia. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A memorial has been established in her memory.&nbsp; Online condolences may be left at www.draucker.com and clicking on the share a memory button.&nbsp; Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala, Nebraska has been entrusted with the arrangements.

 </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta Arlene Wendt Draucker Thiems, age 102, of Ogallala, Nebraska died on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Welcov Assisted Living in Ogallala. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta was born on February 8, 1918 in Swedeburg, Nebraska to Emil and Olivia Swanson Wendt.&nbsp; The family moved to Kimball, Nebraska six weeks later, residing there for 7 years.&nbsp; Arta started school there at the age of 6.&nbsp; The family then moved to Elm Creek, Nebraska in 1925 and lived there for 5 years.&nbsp; The Wendt family settled at a farm north of Keystone, Nebraska in 1930, where Arta attended Liberty Knoll School. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Arta married Clyde Draucker on July 7, 1936 at Keystone, Nebraska.&nbsp; They were married by the Rev. Betty Jean McWain, age 89, of North Platte, passed away at home surrounded by her family under hospice care on September 27, 2020.

Betty was born at Vesta, NE, on October 13, 1930, to Charles Fremont and Edus Irene (Hickey) Parrish.&nbsp; She grew up in Tecumseh and graduated from Elk Creek High School.

On July 2, 1950, Betty married Robert James McWain at Tecumseh and they made their home in Beatrice until moving to North Platte in '64. Betty was a swim instructor at the Y in Beatrice and later an aquasize and swim instructor at the Rec Center in North Platte for many years and worked at the Ranch Motel.

Betty was a member of the Church of Christ on Walker Road and the Red Hat Society.&nbsp; She liked to knit, make afghans and play cards but her family was her life.&nbsp; Betty especially loved her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her son, Michael McWain, of North Platte; granddaughters, Shari Johnson, Mistie (Matt) Carpenter, Shanda McWain, Angel McWain and Christina McWain; great-grandkids, Lars, Trevor, Jace, Haley and Addison; brothers, Kenneth Parrish, of Wymore, Jerry (Beth) Parrish, of Kansas City, MO and Charles, Jr. (Pat) Parrish, of San Antonio, TX; as well as other family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and daughter, Roberta Gillett; her parents, Charles, Sr. and Edus Parrish; brothers, Keith and Darrel Parrish; sisters, Cecile Burns, Shirley Straub and Carol Hespen; and grandson, Terry Gillett.

L.D. Walker, ag 78, of Ogallala, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.

L.D. was born on January 26, 1942 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Dale E. and Dorothy Lee (Linn) Walker.

He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1960.&nbsp; then moved on to Nebraska State College of Chadron, Nebraska, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Business Administration.

While attending college, he meets his sweetheart, Sherri Yvonne Floyd, sweeping his young wife off her feed and into marriage on August 16, 1964 in Walsh, Colorado to live in Chadron.&nbsp; They enjoyed a close relationship raising two energetic boys over a 56 year marriage.

L.D. found great pride in his work and the relationships he cultivated through business and community leadership.&nbsp; Over his lifetime a handshake was his bond with others.&nbsp; He service in the USDA Forest Service as an Administrative Assistant in purchasing and contract administration.&nbsp; For over 34 years, L.D. was associated with John Deer, including 22 years where he owned multiple John Deere Dealerships from Gordon, Nebraska to Blackwell, Oklahoma, then back to his beloved hometown of Ogallala, Nebraska.&nbsp; In his later years, he kept busy by selling real estate.&nbsp; He also assisted with the design of multiple equipment attachments for both Orthman Manufacturing and Hesston.

L.D. servied in multiple committees and organizations over the years.&nbsp; In Ogallala alone, he served in the Methodist Church, City Council, Cemetery Board and Airport Authority.

He was also an avid reader of biographies, collected western art, and was a proud member of the Ogallala Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.&nbsp; He loved flying, becoming a licensed pilot and member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association, teaching his sons the basics of flying while Sherri learned to navigate and read the maps.&nbsp; As an enthusiastic goose hunter and gun collector, he introduced his boys into the sport at an early age.&nbsp; Additionally, over 30 years he owned and operated a sizeable cow herd.&nbsp; His wife and sons were right there by his side supporting L.D. through every adverture.&nbsp; L.D. was very proud of his family and its heritage.&nbsp; His great-grandfather came to Keith County, Nebraska in 1876 establishing a homestead south of Paxton and his great-uncle was the legendary Sheriff George Heiser.

L.D. was preceded in death by his parents.

L.D. is survived by his wife, Sherri of Ogallala; two sons Brent (Rebecca) Walker of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Dana (Grace-Ann) Walker of Kerrville, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Connie (Charles) Washa of Grant, Nebraska; one brother Marvin (Shione) Walker of Lincoln, Nebraska; one brother-in-law Darl (Pat) Floyd of Rolla, Kansas; and 8 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. MT at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala, Nebraska.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. MT on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala, Nebraska with Rev. Chuck Ragar officiating.

Masonic Graveside Rites will be by Ogallala Masonic Lodge 159 A.F.A.M.

Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala in his memory.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kenneth “Ken” Lee Childerston was born December 12, 1938 in Hyannis, Nebraska to Harold and Maxine (Garrett) Childerston. He died September 24, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kenny (as he was often times called as a youth) became an Eagle Scout with Silver Palm in May 1956. Ken graduated from North Platte High School in 1957. He attended college in McCook graduating in 1959. He served in the army reserves, spending six months at Fort Ord, California.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ken worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant in North Platte for seven years until the operation closed. He spent the next 25 years as an auditor for the state of Nebraska auditing courthouses. As systems changed, he continued auditing courthouses for two different private firms until 2007 when he retired. Ken even found his wife, Anita Schocke Blake, while auditing the courthouse in Gering, Nebraska. They married in 1974 and Ken became step-dad to four, Jolynn, Craig, Janet “Jan”, and Brenda, although only the two youngest, Janet and Brenda Blake, moved to North Platte.&nbsp; Ken and Anita celebrated 46 years of marriage in 2020. They enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona after their retirement. Although Ken spent many nights away from home as his work took him from courthouse to courthouse in the western half of Nebraska, he was always ready with suitcase in hand to take a trip, often times with one or several “grands” in tow.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ken was a kind, gentle man with a dry sense of humor. He loved working with numbers, his birthday 12-12-38 was his favorite. He enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles wherever he could find one. He even liked to balance his checkbook; in fact, he balanced his checkbook in the hospital 10 hours before he died. Ken lived at Lake Maloney for 50 years and was happiest when surrounded by family who came to fish, water ski, or play in the water. He loved watching sports and following grandkids activities. He was a wealth of statistical information about college and pro sports.
