Pleasie “John” Roy Triplett, 93, of Lincoln, NE, passed away at his assisted living apartment on February 20, 2024. John was born on December 18, 1930 to Marion and Isabel Triplett in Holly, CO.&nbsp;

John was the second of five children, and cared deeply for his kids, grandkids, brothers and sisters. From a young age, he started working on numerous ranches and viewed himself as a cowboy. &nbsp;Through these experiences he developed a love for horses, rodeos and the outdoors.&nbsp; After starting his own family with Jean in 1952 in 1965 he started working on the railroad at Bailey Yards. He worked there until he retired in 1995&nbsp; John developed a love of hunting and fishing, and camping, it was not surprising to hear stories about his outdoor conquests. If you knew him well enough you heard them probably more than once. &nbsp;He later shared his love of the outdoors with his children, Debi, Kristi and Curt.&nbsp;

John was preceded in death by his sister “Pinky” and brothers Clifford and Jimmy.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Jean, daughters Debi Lahaye (the late Steve Lahaye) and Kristi Lunkwitz (Rod); son Curtis Triplett; and sister MaryEtta (Elmer) numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins and friends. &nbsp;

John's kindness, intelligence, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on through his family, stories and memories he leaves behind.&nbsp;

Brenda, the daughter of David and Wilma Rosencrants, was born August 5, 1961, in North Platte where she has resided all her life. &nbsp;Brenda graduated from N.P.H.S. then earned her cosmetology license. &nbsp;She was a hairdresser for a while then worked at various places including the Moose Lodge, The Sands, Detco, Farmers Insurance, AAA, and Cabelas Call Center. &nbsp;&nbsp;

On July 13, 1991, Brenda married Loren Roberts. &nbsp;She was a very patient woman who enjoyed reading, crocheting and watching stock car races. &nbsp;Brenda especially loved her family and her grandkids were the loves of her life. &nbsp;

She leaves behind her husband, Loren, daughter, Lindsey Mercer, and brother, Jeffrey Rosencrants, all of North Platte; stepson, Colton Wohlers (Jess) of Holdrege; grandkids, Cyrus, Rhyland, Soren and Toriana, and step granddaughter, Brynlee; niece, Tosha; nephew, Jared; and other family.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Korbyn Mercer.

Marian E. Sheffield, 91, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital.

She was born on July 24, 1932 in Jackson Twp., Webster County, Iowa the daughter of Marinus and Mareka (Ihnen) Poppen. &nbsp;She was married to Verlin Max Goforth on November 4, 1950 in Fort Dodge, IA and together they had 8 children. &nbsp;Verlin died on March 30, 1964 in San Jose, CA. She was married to her 2nd husband Woody M. Sheffield in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 8, 1971 and together had 1 child. &nbsp;Woody died on January 18, 2018 in North Platte. &nbsp;Marian loved children and was an in-home day care provider for many years. &nbsp;She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Verlin; 2nd husband, Woody; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna (Bernard) Fay; and daughter, Barbara Royce.

She is survived by her children, Verlin David Goforth, Justin L. (Cindy) Goforth, Mark E. (Vicki) Goforth, all of North Platte, Edward J. (Sharon) Goforth of Grand Island, NE, Stuart O. &nbsp;Candra Palmer, age 63, of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at St. Elizabeth’s in Lincoln, NE.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Candra Lee (Ferguson) Palmer was born December 8, 1960, in Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;Her family moved several times in her childhood to Omaha, Niobrara, Valentine, and Arcadia. &nbsp;She attended and graduated high school in Ansley, Nebraska in 1979, and then attended college in California. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; In 1981, she returned to Nebraska and welcomed her first daughter Melinda while working at the Ansley Cafe. &nbsp;In the mid 80's, she got a job at the Custer County Highway Department, first mowing ditches and later becoming the Secretary and Bookkeeper where she worked happily until her passing. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; In 1989, Candra was married to the love of her life Rodney Dean Palmer, and in 1990 they welcomed their son, Michael. &nbsp;In 1992, they welcomed a second daughter, Michelle whom after a short time went to be with the Lord. In 1994, Rod and Candra welcomed their last daughter, Katelyn. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Candra's biggest joys in her life were her children and later her grandchildren Miciah, Melakai, James, Oliver, and Kyzer. She always had a child in her arms. Candra was generous and kind and loved all people and her favorite quote was "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

&nbsp; &nbsp; Candra is survived by her husband, Rodney Palmer of Broken Bow NE; children, Melinda (Craig) Mohrman of Columbus NE, Michael (Nicoli) Palmer of Broken Bow NE, Katelyn Palmer of Columbus NE; grandchildren: Kelsi, Miciah, Melakai, James, Oliver, and Kyzer; father, Lawrence Ferguson of Ansley NE; brother, Larry (Gail) Ferguson; brother-in-Law: Steve (Connie) Palmer of Henderson NE; sister-in-Law, Sheri Palmer of Ansley NE; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Jim) Eberle, Nathan (Bobbi Joe) Ferguson, Tresia (Kiley) White, Daryl (Stacie) Palmer, Lori (Jeremy) Johnson, Cory (Angie) Palmer; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenneth (Ken) Nielsen, age 86, of Broken Bow, NE passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at Brookstone View in Broken Bow.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Kenneth (Ken) Nielsen was born to Hans and Irma Nielsen July 7, 1937, south of the Basin near Mason City, NE.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;He attended elementary schools in several country schools. &nbsp;The family moved to Ansley, NE, and he completed the rest of his education there. Following his high school graduation in 1955, Ken joined the army. &nbsp;He spent 31 months in Germany in the MedCor. &nbsp;He was honorably discharged in 1958. &nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;Ken married Aletha Imogene (Jean) McNulty in 1963. A son Ricky Dean Nielsen was born November 28, 1964. &nbsp;Ken and Jean divorced in 1967.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;He was employed by various companies, then in 1972 went to work as assistant manager for Cash and Carry Lumber in Broken Bow, NE. He worked there for twenty-seven years and retired in 1999. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;Ken married Olive (Mills) Turner in 1968. Olive had three children, Joseph, Toni, and Terri. &nbsp; &nbsp;A son, Scott Michael, was born and they became a yours, mine, and ours family. &nbsp;Ken and Olive were married 55 years. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing pool.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Irma Nielsen, his father and mother-in-law, Fred and Clara Mills, and stepdaughter, Toni M. Turner and son-in-law James Oehm. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp;Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Olive; three sons: step-son, Joseph Turner of Des Moines, IA, Ricky Nielsen of Sheldon, IA, and Scott (Mary Ann) Nielsen of Grand Island NE; step-daughter, Terri Oehm of Gretna, NE; sister, Linda Cure (Ralph); brothers: Richard (Javene), Marvin (Chris) and Ronnie; also two grandsons: Breckan and Nathan Nielsen. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

The family moved to Chicago when Ellen was five and she attended Miss Harris’ private school. &nbsp;She moved to Vincennes, Indiana, at age 13 to be closer to family. &nbsp;After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1947, she moved to Arizona for health reasons and attended the University of Arizona. &nbsp;While attending the University, Ellen majored in Theatre where she had the honor of being a leading lady in plays with the famous actor, Don Knotts, and a prominent Broadway actor, Ellis Rabb. &nbsp;During her “drama career”, she was approached by a Hollywood talent scout who wanted to help her get into the movies, but she declined. &nbsp;She was inducted in both the Zeta Phi Eta Speech Honorary Society and the National Collegiate Players, (an honor society for college participants in theatre). &nbsp;Ellen was especially proud to be a Kappa Alpha Theta sorority member in which she has enjoyed lifelong friendships. She was designated a desert beauty as she was a finalist for Desert Queen, the Queen of Queens. &nbsp;She was also honored as the ATO Dream Girl. &nbsp;Ellen graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1951.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;While visiting her mother and stepfather (Homer Molyneux) in Broken Bow, Nebraska, she met Charles Francis Beshaler, a handsome farmer from Arnold who she married in 1952. &nbsp; They made a home together on the farm where they raised 8 children: Richard Lee (Kim), John Francis (Mary Ellen), Jeanne Ellen (Frank) Staroski, Joan Marie (Kim) Adcock, Anne Michelle (John) Seibel, Mary Suzanne Yarrington, Elizabeth Lynn (Anthony) Romano and Michael Moore.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Ellen enjoyed being a world traveler visiting Russia, Alaska, and Egypt to name a few places. &nbsp;Ellen loved her catholic faith and visited the pilgrimage sites Fatima, Medjugorje, Assisi, and the Holy Land. She managed to see St. Pope John Paul II three times and also had the honor of meeting Mother Theresa. &nbsp;Back on the home front, she volunteered in various ministries in her parish church. Ellen was also instrumental in restoring the Rialto Theatre in Arnold. &nbsp;She participated on multiple boards including the Mental Health Board and DCCW, a catholic organization. Ellen was especially proud of her family ties with the comedian, Victor Borge and his family and she visited them often. &nbsp; She enjoyed having front row seats at his concerts and laughing hysterically. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; She leaves to mourn her passing seven children, 31 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Bud), of 56 years, son Michael, grandsons Ryan and Jason, infant great-grandson Ollie Xavier, infant sister Rachel Gross, stepbrother Bill Molyneux, nephew Dave Molyneux, sister and brother-in-law Bud and Patty Beshaler Parks, and her aunt and uncle Bob and Ruth Johnson.&nbsp;

Sue Beshaler (1929-2024)

Philip "Ed" Darby, 93, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Tabitha Prairie Commons in Grand Island surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 16, 1930, near Darr, Nebraska to Philip Edwin Darby Sr. and Clara B. Strohmyer. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1948. In 1951, Ed joined the United States Army where he did topography in the Philippines during the Korean War until 1953. On July 22, 1956, Ed married the love of his life, Karen Rupe at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. To this union, six daughters were born: Sara, Jennifer, Luanne, Linda, Patricia, and Karla.&nbsp;

Ed worked for three years at Reed Engineering in Columbus, Nebraska before dedicating 43 years to the &nbsp;Dawson Public Power District. There he worked for the engineering department for 20 years and transitioned to being a manager for 23 years before retiring in 1998. Ed loved being involved in his community and served on various committees. He was a part of the Founding Fathers of Lexington Foundation, was the president of the Nebraska Power Association, was a secretary and treasurer for the Tri-County Shrine Club, served on the board at Home Federal as well as several committees with the Nebraska Rural Electric Association, helped campaign for John Wightman, and was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge Thistle #61.&nbsp;

Ed was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church He loved Nebraska football, spending his days out at the lake, and gardening. He was an incredibly hard worker and was able to fix anything you brought to him. He was a doting father to his girls and always followed their activities as well as his grandchildren's activities.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sara (Craig Forester) Darby of Omaha, Jennifer Jo (Scott) Mitchell of Grand Island, Luanne Rae Gesell of Lincoln, Linda Kae (Rick) Petet of Lincoln, Patricia Ann (Andrew) Cohen of Lincoln, and Karla Lynn (Roger) Schmidt of Grand Island; grandchildren, Liza Jo (Chad) Lorenz, Clair Olivia Schmidt, Philip Payton (Jessica) Schmidt, Cameron Lee Petet, Erin Darby (Jared Kennedy) Gesell, Darby Linn (Dana) Kurtz, Sydney Kae (Tyler) &nbsp;Wilhelms, and Tanner John Gesell; great-grandchildren, Tatum, Taelor, Devon, Porter, Lettie, Lovelyn and one on the way; sister, Joan C. (William) Smith of Broomfield, Colorado, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Darby; sister, Jean E. Large; brothers-in-law, Dean Linn and Harold Benzel, sisters-in-law, Gloria Benzel, and Donna Linn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.&nbsp;

Philip Ed Darby (1930-2024)

David (Dave) Kalb, 81, of Chappell went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, February 16, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Chappell with Pastor Rich Graeff officiating. &nbsp;Burial with military honors will follow in the Chappell City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 3:00 to 5:00 Wednesday at the funeral home.

&nbsp;Dave was the only child born on July 17, 1942, to the late Harold and Illene (Kasparek) Kalb. He grew up on a farm in Chappell where he learned to ride horses (which were not his favorite thing), farming of various crops, and ranch. Dave graduated from Chappell High School and went to college for two years. Returning to the family farm a few years later, in his early twenties, he honorably served in the Nebraskan Army National Guard for six years in Ogallala, 1st&nbsp;Battalion, 168th&nbsp;Field Artillery. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class while he performed duties as the Chief of Firing Battery. After his service, Dave went into trucking and drove grain trucks, but his love of hauling cattle became his career for many years all over the United States. His last and favorite truck was a beautiful Peterbilt, that he called Rosie!!!&nbsp;

&nbsp;Dave had a very adventurous life. For anyone that knew him he had plenty of stories to tell on any given day. &nbsp; He loved telling stories of his adventures as a truck driver. He proudly displayed a large map of the United States in his shop with push pins in every city he had visited while driving. Many of his stories were followed by a lot of laughter as they were always entertaining, and some were more colorful than others. When it came to farming, he was always very proud of the work he did and if you drove by one of his fields you knew it was his because of the straight lines and no weeds. He was a perfectionist in many ways even when it came to removing snow from his neighbor’s driveways. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. At the end of a very hard day’s work, it usually ended with an ice-cold beer and conversation on what needs to be taken care of next.

&nbsp;His love for dogs was unmatched. He and his faithful companion, Annie could be seen out for a morning or evening drive on their UTV.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Dave is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Matt (Karen) Kalb of Chappell, Adam Kalb of Lodgepole, Jay (Laura) Weeter of Sioux City, IA, Dustin (Cristina) Weeter of Omaha, NE and daughter, Mindy (Justin) Crossland of Yuma, CO; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and his beloved canine companion, Annie.

Chrystele M. Botsford (1958-2024)

On February 12, 2024, Sheila Kay (Jaeger) Johnson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. &nbsp;Sheila was born June 13, 1949 in Imperial, Nebraska to Wayne and Ruth Jaeger.

Sheila graduated from Chase County High School in 1967 and in 1968, she graduated from Parks School of Business in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;After graduating from business school, Sheila worked for Data Documents in Englewood, Colorado. &nbsp;In 1969, she married and gave birth to her surviving son Cody Kimberling. &nbsp;Sheila moved to McCook, Nebraska in 1970 and while living there as a single mother raising her son, she worked for the McCook Public School Administration Office. &nbsp; In 1974, Sheila was recognized by the McCook Business and Professional Women’s Association for her work implementing computerized financial record keeping. &nbsp;In 1976, after the loss of her father, Sheila moved to Imperial, Nebraska. &nbsp;She worked as an administrative assistant for the Imperial School system. &nbsp;In 1981, Sheila started her social work career for Nebraska Department of Health. &nbsp;Eventually, she advanced to Southwest Nebraska Regional Supervisor for Department of Health and Human Services. &nbsp;Sheila remained in that position until 1986. &nbsp;While living in Imperial, she was elected to serve on the City Council in 1984. &nbsp;During her tenure, she also served on the West Central Nebraska Development District Board, Imperial Centennial Celebration Planning Committee and helped spearhead Imperial’s recycling program which benefited local citizens. &nbsp;In 1988, Sheila started her own in-home business helping families process medical claims. &nbsp;In 1992, Sheila and Barry Johnson moved to North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp;Together they operated Johnson’s Taxidermy for 25 years. &nbsp;Additionally, she was deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of her husband's PRCA rodeo career.

Shelia’s true passions in life were her family, travel, and volunteering. &nbsp;She was a selfless daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. &nbsp;After her mother’s death, Sheila devoted her life to care for her disabled brother, Ronald Jaeger. &nbsp;She was a devoted sister and had a special relationship with her brother, Duke Jaeger. &nbsp;Sheila was Duke’s best friend and confidant with all matters in life. &nbsp;She was a devoted mother who epitomized unconditional love and support. &nbsp;Most importantly, Sheila was a loving and deeply involved grandmother. &nbsp;Her love for her grandchildren was immensely palpable. &nbsp;She was pivotal in the upbringing of her son’s three children and swelled with pride as being the “Best Babysitter on the Planet”. &nbsp;Sheila was a loyal and genuinely devoted friend to many people from all walks of life. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling across the country, going to various rodeos with her husband. &nbsp;She also loved having the opportunity to travel the world with her grandchildren and brother Duke Jaeger. &nbsp;Her heart swelled with pride and joy watching her grandchildren grow and participate in school activities and sporting events. &nbsp;Sheila was also involved in arts and she enjoyed painting and music. &nbsp;She was a member of Heartland Singers and volunteered to serve as treasurer and record keeping. &nbsp;Sheila also served as elected president and treasurer for the HOA at Kristen Court. &nbsp;She was a devoted philanthropist for the disabled and underserved.

 </figure>On February 12, 2024, Sheila Kay (Jaeger) Johnson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. &nbsp;Sheila was born June 13, 1949 in Imperial, Nebraska to Wayne and Ruth Jaeger.Sheila graduated from Chase County High School in 1967 and in 1968, she graduated from Parks School of Business in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;After graduating from business school, Sheila worked for Data Documents in Englewood, Colorado. &nbsp;In 1969, she married and gave birth to her surviving son Cody Kimberling. &nbsp;Sheila moved to McCook, Nebraska in 1970 and while living there as a single mother raising her son, she worked for the McCook Public School Administration Office. &nbsp; In 1974, Sheila was recognized by the McCook Business and Professional Women’s Association for her work implementing computerized financial record keeping. &nbsp;In 1976, after the loss of her father, Sheila moved to Imperial, Nebraska. &nbsp;She worked as an administrative assistant for the Imperial School system. &nbsp;In 1981, Sheila started her social work career for Nebraska Department of Health. &nbsp;Eventually, she advanced to Southwest Nebraska Regional Supervisor for Department of Health and Human Services. &nbsp;Sheila remained in that position until 1986. &nbsp;While living in Imperial, she was elected to serve on the City Council in 1984. &nbsp;During her tenure, she also served on the West Central Nebraska Development District Board, Imperial Centennial Celebration Planning Committee and helped spearhead Imperial’s recycling program which benefited local citizens. &nbsp;In 1988, Sheila started her own in-home business helping families process medical claims. &nbsp;In 1992, Sheila and Barry Johnson moved to North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp;Together they operated Johnson’s Taxidermy for 25 years. &nbsp;Additionally, she was deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of her husband's PRCA rodeo career.Shelia’s true passions in life were her family, travel, and volunteering. &nbsp;She was a selfless daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. &nbsp;After her mother’s death, Sheila devoted her life to care for her disabled brother, Ronald Jaeger. &nbsp;She was a devoted sister and had a special relationship with her brother, Duke Jaeger. &nbsp;Sheila was Duke’s best friend and confidant with all matters in life. &nbsp;She was a devoted mother who epitomized unconditional love and support. &nbsp;Most importantly, Sheila was a loving and deeply involved grandmother. &nbsp;Her love for her grandchildren was immensely palpable. &nbsp;She was pivotal in the upbringing of her son’s three children and swelled with pride as being the “Best Babysitter on the Planet”. &nbsp;Sheila was a loyal and genuinely devoted friend to many people from all walks of life. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling across the country, going to various rodeos with her husband. &nbsp;She also loved having the opportunity to travel the world with her grandchildren and brother Duke Jaeger. &nbsp;Her heart swelled with pride and joy watching her grandchildren grow and participate in school activities and sporting events. &nbsp;Sheila was also involved in arts and she enjoyed painting and music. &nbsp;She was a member of Heartland Singers and volunteered to serve as treasurer and record keeping. &nbsp;Sheila also served as elected president and treasurer for the HOA at Kristen Court. &nbsp;She was a devoted philanthropist for the disabled and underserved.Sheila was preceded in death by her mother and father Ruth and Wayne Jaeger of Imperial; brother, Ronald Jaeger; sisters, Connie Jaeger, Debra Anderson, and Carol Chur.Sheila is survived by her grieving son, Cody (Donelle) Kimberling and their children, Chase, Jenna and Kinsey Kimberling of North Platte; brothers, Duke Jaeger of Imperial, and Sid Jaeger of Darr; husband, Barry Johnson and his daughter Renee (Bryan) Graysen, and their son, Rylan Grayson; numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.Memorials are suggested to be sent on behalf of Sheila to Mosaic Home Capernaum. Larry Ross Bland, 75, of Sutherland, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Centennial Park Nursing Home in North Platte, NE.

Larry was born on March 31, 1948 in Highland, Kansas the son of Victor and Ruth (Craige) Bland.

Larry graduated from college in California with a two-year degree. &nbsp;He was a UPS driver in Cape Canaveral, FL and finished his career as a truck driver with Crete Trucking, retiring in 1990. &nbsp;Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

He was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Ruth.

He is survived by a daughter, Cortney Bland of Richmond, VA; brother, Gregory (Marcia) Bland of North Platte; nephews, Douglas, Ryan and Michael Bland; cousins, Sheri Davis, Deb and Tom Beckwith; and many friends. &nbsp;

Per Larry’s wishes cremation has been chosen and there will be no services.

&nbsp; Tammara “Tammy” Ann Nickless was born to David and Leonella “Nelli” Gilkey (Meyeres) on May 9, 1972 in Larned, Kansas. Tammy grew up in Garfield, Kansas. She attended neighboring Lewis High School. Tammy was a lifeguard as a teenager. She loved to be in the sun and teaching people of all ages how to swim. She also worked at Buckle then went on to become a hairstylist. She graduated from Cosmetology School at Barton County Community College.

Tammy met and later married the love of her life, Jon Nickless, on the Missouri River Queen, May 11, 1995. Tammy and Jon always dreamed of having a big family. They went on to have four children and adopted many pets along the way. Tammy’s kids and pets were her pride and joy. Jon and Tammy moved around a bit from Kinsley KS, Hoxie KS, Great Bend KS, Kearney NE, then finally to Imperial, NE.

She had a range of interests and hobbies. Tammy enjoyed making things pretty from crafts she created or styling hair. She was a mom to all she encountered. She enjoyed working with children. She worked as a Special Education Para Educator. Tammy also enjoyed coaching the Special Olympics. Tammy spent much of her time dreaming up, planning, and going on family adventures with her husband, kids, and dogs.

Tammy leaves behind her loving spouse Jon Nickless, her son Colby Nickless (Kenna Terryberry), her daughters; Taylar Nickless and (Nick Ortner), Ragan and her husband Taylor Wilson, and Paige Nickless. Her brothers, David (Katie) Gilkey, Adam (Amy) Gilkey. Sisters, Stephannie (Mitchell) Nicol, Ammie (Robert) Schibler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents; a host of Aunts, Uncles; her nephews, Grant Mlinar and Ryder Nicol; her brother-in-law Jeff Weaver and her baby born into heaven.

The Family will host a Receiving of Friends Monday, Feb. 19th from 4:00pm-6:00pm (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home, Imperial, NE.

June Lunn, 93, of Ogallala, passed away on February 2, 2024, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

June's journey alongside her beloved husband, Ted Lynn Lunn, began on September 27, 1946, in Kansas City, shortly after his return from service in August of the same year. The couple made their first home in Kansas City, where they lived for 11 years before moving to Colorado. In 1986, seeking a quieter life post-retirement from Coors, where Ted had worked, they settled in Ogallala, Nebraska. Here, they indulged in their shared love for fishing, picnicking by the lake, and camping- creating countless cherished memories.

In 1987, their son Ted purchased a carpet and furniture store, and they ventured into helping with that business. June, known for her quiet and reserved nature, also had a creative side. She often made clothes for her grandchildren and cooked large family meals. Her chicken and noodles became legendary among family and friends. In later years, June suffered macular degeneration but never stopped cooking, which led to some interesting culinary creations, like her famous Mexican spaghetti.

June's life was marked by dedication to her family, her love for playing cards, and years of hard work. Despite living in Denver for a while, Ogallala remained her home.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; four sisters; and sons, Don and Jim Lunn.

Survivors include her son, Ted of Ogallala; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

June Marilyn Lunn (1930-2024)

Gordon Henry Reichenberg of Mitchell, South Dakota, formerly of Sutherland, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the age of 96. After several months of declining health, Gordon died peacefully at Mitchell Avera Brady Health and Rehab, surrounded by family.

Gordon was born in Arthur, Nebraska, on February 14, 1927, to father Henry John Reichenberg and mother Esther May Reichenberg. The third child born of six children, Gordon lived and grew up on the family ranch in Arthur County.

Gordon and his family moved to Los Angeles, California, at the beginning of WWII. He enlisted in the Navy at age 18 and served on several vessels until 1946. He was awarded the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.

At the end of the war, Gordon and his family returned to Nebraska. His parents opened a motel in Ogallala, Nebraska, and Gordon set out on his own. He met Josephine (Bonnie) Ellen Crouse in Arthur, Nebraska, and they were married in September of 1951. Four children were born to this union – Russell Gene, Peggy Jo, Craig Allen, and Gordon Dean.

After several moves, the family settled in Rushville, Nebraska, where Gordon started his lifelong career with Nebraska Public Power. A promotion led Gordon and Bonnie to move to Sutherland, Nebraska, in 1976 to manage the Sutherland Nebraska Public Power office. After his retirement from Nebraska Public Power, Gordon continued to work part-time at the Sutherland Schools.

After Bonnie’s death in 2002, Gordon relocated to Hay Springs and lived with his son Russell and wife Elke for 13 years. Upon Russell’s retirement, he moved with the couple to Ethan, South Dakota, in 2017. His later years were spent at Edgewood Assisted Living and Avera Brady Senior Living in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Gordon loved following Nebraska Cornhusker football and PGA golf. In 2015, Gordon enjoyed an Honor Flight to Washington DC with his son Russell. He made trips to California to see his sister and brother and trips to Texas to see Peggy. He enjoyed the visits but was always glad to come back to Nebraska.

&nbsp;Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, son Dean, and three brothers.

Janice Messersmith, 77, of Maywood, NE passed away on Monday February 12, 2024 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp;

Janice was born on January 3, 1947 at Oberlin, KS to John Gerald and Violet Evelyn (Clayton) Berry. She was living in Maywood at the time of her death. She attended school at Norcatur, KS.&nbsp;

On August 3, 1963, she married Larry D. Messersmith at the Methodist Church in Oberlin, KS; to this union was born four children: Danny Ray, Brad Lee of North Platte, Van Duane of McCook, and Vicky Dee Huntly of Oberlin, KS.

She was baptized into &nbsp;the Maywood Christian Church on August 20, 2003. &nbsp;Her life revolved around her husband, her children and their families, her home and her friends. &nbsp;She loved to cook, bake, crochet, read and entertain at her home. She loved to color and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Danny Ray, both her parents, two brothers Marlin (Bud) Berry and Merlin Berry, a sister-in-law Janice, niece Donna and one unborn infant child in 1965.

Survivors include two sons, Brad (Julie), Van (Rita), daughter Vicky (Gaylen) Huntley, 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, &nbsp;brother Steve (Chris) Berry of McCook, sister Joan (Joe) Thummel of Phillipsburg KS, sister-in-law Ardie Berry of Danbury NE; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends; Mary Jones of Idaho; Eric and Tami Ludeman of Colorado; Rachel Miller of McCook, NE.

Janice Messersmith (1947-2024)

William "Bill" R. Fread, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at his home in Lexington, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 29, 1949, in Petersburg, Virginia to Harold Lee and Lorene Ruth (Mansir) Fread. The family spent many years traveling and spent some time in El Paso, Texas, where Bill graduated from Irvin High School with the class of 1967. In later years, he would go on to Southeast Community College in Lincoln to obtain his trucking license. In 1969, Bill joined the U.S Marine Corps and then later joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. In the early 1980's, Bill made his home in Lexington, Nebraska. He was a jack of all trades and held many jobs over the years. He worked at Builder's Warehouse, worked for the Gas Company as well as did trucking and hauled fertilizer for the co-op. On May 30, 1997, Bill was united in marriage to Lisa Barker in Lexington, Nebraska where she welcomed his daughter, Molly.

Bill loved working with his hands, whether it was woodworking, leatherworking or maintaining his beautiful garden. He could fix just about anything and always found a way to make old things that had been thrown away work like new. He was one of the many comedians in the family and always had the best one-liners. He always wanted to make people smile and laugh. Bill held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews, who he would dote on. Over the years, Bill also became an animal lover and appreciated the unconditional love he would receive from his beloved fur companions. He was a good man with a heart of gold.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 27 years, Lisa Fread of Lexington; daughter, Molly (Brandon) Tipton of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Colin and Amelia Tipton of El Paso, Texas; brother, David (Chris) Fread of Lexington; sisters, Cindy Wheeler of Lincoln and Kathy Fread of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Dave Hall of El Paso, Texas and Tim Boomhower of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Tammy Johnson of Grand Island, Brenda Bodfield of Minden, Marsha (Don) Young of Lexington, and Rebecca Harris of Kearney; his loving fur companion, his dog Ralphie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and many friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, his sister, Debbie Hall, sister-in-law, Susie Boomhower, and the first fur companion who taught him how to love dogs, Sammie.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024, with family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

William Ralph Fread (1949-2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Ronald Eugene Weidner, age 68, was born on June 24, 1955, to Herman C. and Annice M. (Kattau) Weidner in McCook, Nebraska and passed away on the family farm southwest of Culbertson on February 12, 2024.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Ron attended country school #41 until 6th grade when the school closed. He then attended Culbertson High School, graduating in 1972. He was a farmer alongside his dad his entire life. He took great pride in growing a good crop of wheat and enjoyed seeing the baby calves born in the spring. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Culbertson and was a lifelong member.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Ron enjoyed antique tractors, collecting farm toys, feeding the turkeys and cardinals, and his pet cat, Romeo. He will be sadly missed.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; He is survived by a sister, Marilyn of Lincoln; cousins, Carleen Andersen, Bill Weidner, Russell Weidner, Diane Gropp, Denise Slama, Debra Ourada, Doug Kattau, and their families.&nbsp;

Melvin Slagle was born May 3, 1929, in Sargent to Ralph and Naoma (Huffman) Slagle. He passed away on February 10, 2024, at Bryan Memorial in Lincoln at the age of 94. Melvin graduated from Sargent Public School in 1947. In May of 1950, he married Jeanette (Gibson), and they had two children, Cheryl and Mark.&nbsp;

Melvin was hard-working and determined. When he was interested in a subject, he studied it and asked questions. Melvin and Jeanette, along with Mark, developed and improved their Angus herd over the years they were in business. Melvin was a visionary cattleman, and seeing the need for larger Angus cattle, bought a selection of cows from LeRoy Erdmann that carried these traits. In 1982, ’83, and ’84, they won the Grand Champion Angus Carload at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. The summers were spent farming and caring for the cattle, and in the winter, they settled a ½ mile south of their home in their sale barn, calving out their herd.&nbsp;

&nbsp;For a time, Melvin partnered with both Cheryl and Bernard Ritchie and Mark in agriculture. While in his 50s, Melvin “retired” and moved off the ranch west of Sargent. This allowed Melvin and Jeanette the opportunity to travel, but Melvin remained very involved in the activities on the ranch. They later built a vacation home in Ouray, CO. They loved the mountains. In 2002, they built their last home on the river near Walworth to return to the country where he was the happiest.&nbsp;

Melvin served as a mentor to area people getting started in farming and cattle. He loved strategizing on all aspects of agriculture from developing land, farming practices, adding pivots, picking out bulls, watching the markets, and attending sales. Melvin was a director of the Sargent Irrigation District for many years and a lifetime member of the American Angus Association. He had a creative side and would spend hours working on a pottery wheel, making everything from coffee cups to vases to pie plates to serving dishes. He would create the pieces, and Jeanette would add decorative details. His pottery pieces are truly works of art. They gifted many pieces to his family and friends.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Melvin’s faith deepened while attending the Church of Christ in Sargent, and he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He was actively exploring options for a new Fellowship Hall for the church at the time of his passing. Memorials are suggested to the Sargent Church of Christ for the Building Fund. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Slagle, son Mark Slagle, and great-grandson Ty Vincent. Melvin Slagle (1929-2024)

Erman Ellsworth Case passed away peacefully at his home in Cozad on February 11, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1956, in Hawthorne, California to Loyd and Rena (Cayou) Case.

Erman had a strong educational background. He graduated from Thornton High School in Colorado and furthered his education attending the University of Colorado. Erman's intellect and curiosity were evident through his membership in Mensa, showcasing his impressive intelligence.

Erman worked as a press operator at Monroe Auto in Cozad for many years. Throughout his life, Erman showcased admirable qualities that made him cherished by those around him. He possessed a genuine and selfless nature, always willing to lend a helping hand without expecting any recognition. Erman's mischievous spirit made him quite the prankster and brought laughter into the lives of those who knew him. He had a gift for storytelling and thoroughly enjoyed engaging people with his tales. Whether it was sharing anecdotes or simply having a pleasant conversation, Erman loved nothing more than spending quality time with friends and family.

Erman also had a zest for outdoor adventures. Hunting, fishing, and camping were among the various hobbies he held dear to his heart. Nature provided him solace and allowed him to connect with the world around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Clara as well as their children Chad Case and Nichole Case, all of whom reside in Cozad. His precious granddaughter Maya LaMascus brought immeasurable joy into his life. Erman is also survived by his brothers Steve and Dave Case, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Shirley Kugler, of Paxton, died peacefully in her sleep at the Birch Nursing Home, in Sutherland, Nebraska, on February 10, 2024, at the age of 87. &nbsp;She was born Shirley Jane Taylor, January 5, 1937. &nbsp;Her parents were Chester Carpenter Taylor and Laura Jane (Case) Taylor.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., (MT), Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Paxton United Methodist Church, Paxton, Nebraska with Rev. Shirley June Kugler (1937-2024)

Alta&nbsp;Stubbs was surrounded by her family when she passed away at Great Plains Health on February 9, 2024, at the age of 89.

Alta was born to Harold and Evelyn Frohman on May 6, 1934, at Atkinson, NE, where she grew up. &nbsp;After high school, Alta moved to Kearney and there she met Richard Stubbs. &nbsp;They married on June 5, 1955, in Mexico.

The couple lived in Long Beach, CA, then moved to North Platte years later. &nbsp;They had many different businesses over the years and Alta operated two Day Cares: Rent-a-Mom and Kids World. &nbsp;

She was a Christian woman who loved listening to gospel music. &nbsp;She liked reading, making candy, and celebrating with her family. &nbsp;To know Alta was to know love.

She is survived by her children, Kim Sellers (Martin), Rhonda Stubbs (Ham Hawkins), and Pamela LeDroit (Kevin), all of North Platte, and Rick Stubbs (Mary) of Stockville; grandchildren, Rickie Sellers (Maddi Karre), Angel Sellers (Cisco Plunk), Jason Sellers, Ronnie Stubbs, Roy Stubbs, Jolene Sabin (Jared Hartley), Janele Murrish (Jeremy), and Charity Stubbs; her siblings, Kay Bray and James Frohman of North Platte and LeRoy Frohman of Kentucky; and many great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and other family.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; sisters, Helen Jensen, Judy Eltiste, Jean Barr and Marian Abrams; and brother, Larry Frohman.

 </figure>Alta&nbsp;Stubbs was surrounded by her family when she passed away at Great Plains Health on February 9, 2024, at the age of 89.Alta was born to Harold and Evelyn Frohman on May 6, 1934, at Atkinson, NE, where she grew up. &nbsp;After high school, Alta moved to Kearney and there she met Richard Stubbs. &nbsp;They married on June 5, 1955, in Mexico.The couple lived in Long Beach, CA, then moved to North Platte years later. &nbsp;They had many different businesses over the years and Alta operated two Day Cares: Rent-a-Mom and Kids World. &nbsp;She was a Christian woman who loved listening to gospel music. &nbsp;She liked reading, making candy, and celebrating with her family. &nbsp;To know Alta was to know love.She is survived by her children, Kim Sellers (Martin), Rhonda Stubbs (Ham Hawkins), and Pamela LeDroit (Kevin), all of North Platte, and Rick Stubbs (Mary) of Stockville; grandchildren, Rickie Sellers (Maddi Karre), Angel Sellers (Cisco Plunk), Jason Sellers, Ronnie Stubbs, Roy Stubbs, Jolene Sabin (Jared Hartley), Janele Murrish (Jeremy), and Charity Stubbs; her siblings, Kay Bray and James Frohman of North Platte and LeRoy Frohman of Kentucky; and many great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and other family.Alta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; sisters, Helen Jensen, Judy Eltiste, Jean Barr and Marian Abrams; and brother, Larry Frohman.Private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the North Platte Cemetery. &nbsp;Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. &nbsp;Memorials are to the donor's choice. &nbsp;Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
