North Platte Community College will be the site of JobFest on Jan. 28, 2025.

The event is free and open to the public. It is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon in the NPCC South Campus gym, 601 West State Farm Road, in North Platte.

The fair will provide job seekers with an opportunity to network with representatives from area businesses and learn about open positions in a variety of fields.

Guests are encouraged to take résumés with them. At their discretion, employers may choose to interview candidates on site.

Stapleton, Neb. - The community of Stapleton has been working on raising funds for a new splash pad for the community to enjoy during the warm months at the Village of Stapleton Park. Since 2023, funds have been raised between grants and fundraisers.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The project has brought in a total of $148,000 at this time but still needs to raise $17,000 by February 28th to purchase vertical features for the splash pad. Vertical features include the bucket dump, spray cannons and arches.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Stapleton&nbsp;Committee is hoping enough community donations or more grant money is received in order to purchase the remaining vertical features. As of now, 77 bricks have been purchased but are still 23 shy of the goal of 100 bricks. Brick purchases feature&nbsp;name, business, memorials, or messages with a donation of $100 or more.&nbsp;

Village of Stapleton to Add Splash Pad in Late Spring 2025

Nebraska Library Commission Library Development Director Christa Porter recently announced the accreditation of thirty-eight public libraries across Nebraska.

Porter stated, “We are dedicated to helping Nebraska libraries meet Nebraskans’ information needs, opening up the world of information for citizens of all ages. The Library Commission continues to work in partnership with Nebraska libraries and the regional library systems, using the Public Library Accreditation program to help public libraries grow and develop.”

Public libraries in Nebraska are accredited for a five-year period. Callaway, Neb. -&nbsp;The Village of Callaway was recently awarded a $500 Lean on LARM Safety Grant to purchase flame-resistant apparel for the village utility workers. 

Lori Bonde, Village Clerk, applied for the grant offered each year by the League Association of Risk Management (LARM) to provide safety items for its members.

Eagle Media announced several key promotions and leadership updates within the Eagle team. These changes reflect the company's commitment to employee ownership and operational excellence in serving&nbsp; communities and customers.

Shannon Wiederholt – Chief Financial Officer &amp; VP of Corporate Operations

Shannon Wiederholt has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) while also continuing the role of Vice President of Corporate Operations. Shannon has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership within our accounting team and has been instrumental in overseeing Eagle’s budgeting processes.

In her new role, Shannon will help guide our employee ownership processes, audits, and valuation. She will also oversee our radio/media operations in St Joseph and Maryville, Missouri. Heading into her 15th year with Eagle, Shannon is also a member of the Eagle Board of Directors. She resides in Shawnee, Kansas, with her husband Brandon and their three children.

Olivia Hasenauer – Regional Vice President of Nebraska Media Group

Olivia Hasenauer has been promoted to Regional Vice President of Nebraska Media Group. While continuing her current responsibilities, Olivia will now take on broader leadership roles, contributing to the strategic direction and vision of the company.

Since joining Eagle in 2011, Olivia has played a pivotal role in driving growth across our media markets and spearheading company-wide sales initiatives. A passionate advocate for employee ownership, Olivia lives in Hemingford, Nebraska, with her husband Neil and their two children.

Todd Lynd – Associate Director, Eagle Board of Directors

Todd Lynd, Market Manager for Eagle Media of Hays, will join the Eagle Board of Directors as an Associate Director starting this January. Under Todd’s leadership, Hays Media has become the flagship group of Eagle, showcasing top-performing radio stations and the award-winning Hays Post.

Speed Marriott – New Ventures Group &amp; Training Leadership

Speed Marriott will transition away from a full-time position to focus on supporting Bryan Marriott, President of P1 Learning, in expanding Eagle’s New Ventures Group. P1 Learning is a leading training and educational platform offering innovative programs such as P1 Plus, Rising Above, and the 10 Minute Trainer Network.

Eagle’s Mid America Production division will be restructured and merged into P1 to create high-quality training video production. Speed will continue contributing to Eagle through his involvement in Flight Plan Marketing sessions across our markets. A current member of the Eagle Board of Directors, Speed lives in Shawnee, Kansas, with his wife Cathy.

Matt Althouse - Regional Vice President of Kansas Media Group

Earlier this month, it was announced the Matt Althouse was promoted to Vice President of Kansas Media Group. Matt will oversee Eagle’s Kansas Media operations along with his current leadership role in Hutchinson. Kansas Broadcasters picked Matt for their “Rising Star Award” in 2023 reflecting his success at Eagle Media.

Althouse is looking forward to this new role at Eagle, “As Employee Owners, our commitment is to continually enhance and refine how we deliver news, sports, and entertainment that matters to our communities”.

Matt has two children, and they reside in Hutchinson Kansas.

North Platte, NE- NebraskaLand Bank is proud to announce the 2024 recipients of its “My Fair Share” program, an employee-driven initiative that has been making a difference in our community since 2004. Through this annual program, NebraskaLand Bank employees contribute a portion of their paychecks to support nonprofit organizations and causes that uplift our communities.

This year, thanks to the generosity of our incredible team, $16,000 will be distributed to eight deserving organizations, including Bridge of Hope, PAW-itive Partners, North Platte Area Children's Museum, North Platte Skate Park, Kearney Animal Shelter, Kearney Area Community Foundation, Hospice of Sweetwater County, and Sweetwater Family Resource Center.

The “My Fair Share” program stands as a testament to the culture of NebraskaLand Bank, where giving back isn’t just an act—it’s a way of life. Employees not only nominate organizations close to their hearts but also pledge their support throughout the year, embodying the spirit of generosity that drives our success.

Since the program’s inception, NebraskaLand Bank employees have collectively donated an astounding $232,000 to support meaningful causes.

 NebraskaLand Bank Employees Donate $16,000 through "My Fair Share" Program

North Platte’s favorite community dance competition is back! Dancing with the Local Stars, an exciting fundraiser benefiting the North Platte Public Schools Foundation (NPPSF), will light up the stage on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the North Platte High School Performing Arts Center.

This year’s event promises glitz, glamour, and plenty of entertainment as ten local celebrities pair up with local choreographers to compete for the coveted title of “Dancing with the Local Star Champion.” Proceeds from the evening will go toward the foundation’s programs like scholarships. There will also be a "People's Choice Award" where the dancers are raising funds towards the purchase of a grand piano, an essential addition to enhance community events and the district’s music program.

The night kicks off with a red carpet event at 6:30 p.m. where guests can mingle with the stars and enjoy a dazzling atmosphere. The main show begins at 7:30 p.m. featuring performances by dancers who represent the heart and soul of our community.

This year’s lineup includes a dynamic mix of community leaders, business owners, and educators:

“These individuals, many of whom are NPPS alumni, are donating their time and energy to make this event unforgettable,” said Terri Burchell, NPPSF Executive Director. “Their dedication, along with the expertise of their choreographers, is what makes this event so special.”

Pals Brewing Company Celebrates new Lager Room with Ribbon Cutting

Lincoln, Nebraska, January, 2025— A multi-state extension workshop series for women in&nbsp; agriculture will offer strategies to evaluate and improve farm estate and transition plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Leaving a Lasting Legacy for Midwestern Farm Women: A Succession Planning Series,” will&nbsp; be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Central time on Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 at sites across&nbsp; Kansas, Nebraska and Indiana. The series is being produced through a collaborative effort by&nbsp; extension programs at Kansas State University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Purdue&nbsp; University.&nbsp;

Topics covered will include motivation for succession planning, communicating with family, the&nbsp; financial aspects of estate and transition plans, and the legal aspects of putting a plan in place. A&nbsp; keynote speaker will be simulcast to every workshop location during each meeting, with time for&nbsp; questions and a hands-on activity for participants. A meal will be provided on each date.&nbsp;

“Planning for what happens to your things when you’re gone can be daunting, but it’s so&nbsp; important, especially in agriculture, so that the transition to the next generation goes smoothly,”&nbsp; said Jessica Groskopf, director of the Nebraska Women in Agriculture program. “This series will&nbsp; help women learn best practices and new strategies to help the transition and estate planning&nbsp; processes so they can take that back to their farm or ranch and help lead the way in creating or&nbsp; reevaluating their plans.”

Groskopf said the program’s structure is intended to strengthen networks of women in rural&nbsp; areas, which can provide opportunities for building trust and sharing information. “Connections&nbsp; are so important to rural women,” she said. “We have seen the benefits that come from knowing&nbsp; your peers, having a place to share difficulties, and mitigate the isolation that so many of us in&nbsp; agriculture often feel.”&nbsp;

The registration fee for in-person attendance is $60 before Jan. 13 and increases to $75 on or&nbsp; after Jan. 13. A virtual option is available for $75. Participants are encouraged to attend all four&nbsp; sessions. Private Pesticide Applicator’s Certification Trainings Offered by Lincoln Logan McPherson Extension and Keith Arthur Extension

NORTH PLATTE, NEB.–– Nebraska Extension will offer commercial pesticide training for&nbsp; applicators who are seeking to recertify at the West Central Research, Extension and Education&nbsp; Center in North Platte.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The training program will offer a variety of dates for initial training and recertification for those&nbsp; interested in participating. All sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m., but it is recommended to arrive in&nbsp; a timely manner to check in.&nbsp;&nbsp;

There are several options for applicators that wish to recertify. They can attend an in-person&nbsp; training session, complete an online recertification training program, or attend a Nebraska&nbsp; Extension program or an industry-sponsored meeting such as the Nebraska Extension Crop&nbsp; Production Clinics, the Nebraska Turf Conference, the Nebraska Mosquito and Vector&nbsp; Association Conference, and the Nebraska Aviation Trades Association Convention.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The difference between a commercial applicator and a noncommercial applicator is important to&nbsp; recognize while considering commercial pesticide training.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A noncommercial applicator is a licensed applicator who applies restricted-use pesticides only on&nbsp; lands owned or controlled by their employer or for a governmental agency or subdivision of the&nbsp; state. This type of applicator also includes any person using restricted or general use pesticides&nbsp; for community-wide outdoor vector control on behalf of a political subdivision of the state.&nbsp;

Hypnotist Randy Andrews will take to the stage at North Platte Community College Jan. 23. His performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the McDonald-Belton Theater on the NPCC South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Road.

While the show is free and open to the public, it does consist of mature-rated content, and therefore, is restricted to those 17 and older. IDs will be checked at the door.

For over 20 years Andrews has performed as a comedy hypnotist, comedy magician, event DJ, event emcee, motivational speaker and performance coach at over 100 events each year.

Andrews creates experiences that entertain and inspire. Whether it's a burst of laughter, a sense of wonder, or a moment of personal insight, his goal is to make sure everyone leaves with a smile.

NPCC to Host Hypnotist January 23rd

Kimball, Neb. - The Kimball Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating 17-year-old Kylie Osborn. Kylie was last seen late last night in her home, however, has not been seen since. Kylie is believed to be on her way to Kansas. Kylie is approximately 5' 4" and weighs roughly 95 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Kylie was last seen wearing Tan in color sweats with presents and stuffed bears on them, along with a black crop top style shirt.

Kylie has left her home at her residence, and it is unknown what vehicle she may have left in or who she left with. If you have any information please notify the Kimball Police Department, or your local Law Enforcement agency.
