One year has passed since the sudden death of Janeen White Gill, a 50-year-old mother, grandmother, and mental health therapist from North Platte. Her daughters say their grief remains matched by anger — not only over the medical events they say led to her passing but also over the way they feel she was treated in her final days and even after her death.&nbsp;

“This is our family’s story,” wrote Anastasia Miller in a Facebook post calling for accountability. “It’s a story of unimaginable loss, medical negligence, and the total lack of dignity shown to our mother. Not just in her final days, but even after her death.”&nbsp;

On the night of September 22, 2024, Janeen went to the emergency room at Great Plains Health (GPH) in North Platte, suffering from severe abdominal pain. Doctors determined she had a twisted colon, a condition known as volvulus, and she underwent emergency surgery performed by a traveling surgeon.&nbsp;

Anastasia said her mother was transferred to the ICU, where she spent several days in pain. According to her daughters, Janeen repeatedly complained of extreme discomfort, yet no abdominal CT scan was performed in the days following the operation.&nbsp;

By the morning of September 26, doctors discovered that Janeen had suffered a gastrointestinal perforation — a hole in the stomach that can quickly become life-threatening. She was rushed, said Anastasia, into another emergency surgery. Afterward, doctors placed a wound vac and put her on a ventilator to rest.&nbsp;

That evening, the family stated they received a phone call from a nurse. Janeen’s blood pressure was low, and her scheduled procedure to remove the wound vac and close her abdomen was postponed. The nurse told them Janeen was no longer sedated but that “her body was putting itself into a coma so that it could heal.”&nbsp;

Through the night into the morning of September 27, Janeen developed hyperpyrexia — an extreme fever reaching 107°F. Hyperpyrexia is a medical emergency that can cause irreversible brain damage, organ failure, and death if not treated immediately. According to the family, Janeen endured this fever for more than 12 hours without the urgent intervention they believed was necessary.&nbsp;

By the following day, her organs were failing, and she was in septic shock. Her daughters were told that if she regained consciousness, she would likely lose her limbs due to restricted blood flow. On September 28, 2024, at 9:33 p.m., Janeen died surrounded by her four daughters.&nbsp;

Weeks after Janeen’s death, the family discovered a post in the “NO LIMITS – North Platte, Neb.” Facebook group alleging that an ICU nurse, identified by the family as Luci Duggan, removed Janeen’s wound vac after her death, took photos of her organs, and shared them with others. The post suggested the nurse had been fired.&nbsp;

The family contacted the patient advocate at Great Plains Health, who confirmed that Duggan had committed a "serious HIPAA violation" and apologized. The advocate also indicated that the hospital had attempted to remove the post quickly, suggesting, according to the family, that they did not want the public to see it.&nbsp;

“Sharing images of her body — after she passed, after all she endured — was a violation of basic human decency. Unfortunately for them, I saw it,” Anastasia said.&nbsp;

For her daughters, remembering Janeen is about far more than the circumstances of her death. Her daughters said she was a woman who had just reached milestones that marked both pride and promise.&nbsp;

“We celebrated her 50th birthday in June 2024, months before her life was taken,” Autumn Miller shared. “Also, in July 2024, she earned her doctorate degree, something she had worked so many years for. She spent 5 years writing her dissertation. She walked the stage to receive her doctorate just two weeks before she died.”&nbsp;

Janeen was a practicing mental health therapist in North Platte and had built her own practice. Her daughters describe her as a mother who never missed a moment in their lives, even when it wasn’t easy.&nbsp;

“She was the most amazing mom,” Autumn said. “She supported us 4 girls in whatever we did. She always showed up for us, no matter how inconvenient it was for her.”&nbsp;

Janeen was also stepping into a new chapter of life she had long dreamed of: becoming a grandmother. Her first grandchild was born in 2022, and her second was on the way when she passed.&nbsp;

“My mom never got to hold her grandson,” Autumn said. “A simple look at her Facebook would show you how proud she was of being a grandma. She’ll never get to meet any of her future grandkids. She’ll never get to practice with her doctorate. Not only was she a mother, she was a grandma, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a niece, a therapist, and so much more to those who knew her. She endured a lot in her life, but she taught us girls to keep going and not back down. She was a warrior. And I’m proud to call her my mom.”&nbsp;

For the Miller family, speaking out is about more than grief — it is about making sure no other family endures what they say they did. They say they want answers, change, and safeguards for patients at Great Plains Health.&nbsp;

ABC brought Jimmy Kimmel Live! back Monday, less than a week after suspending the late-night show over controversy surrounding Kimmel’s remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The network said internal discussions led to the decision to reinstate the program.

But two of the nation’s largest station groups—Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group—say they will continue to preempt the show on their ABC affiliates. Together, those companies own roughly one-quarter of ABC stations nationwide.

That includes Nebraska Television Network (NTV), which operates ABC affiliates KHGI in Kearney, KWNB in Hayes Center and their translators serving North Platte, Ogallala and much of western and central Nebraska. Sinclair owns the network, and as a result, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is being replaced with other programming on those stations.

The move means many Nebraska viewers, particularly in the western half of the state, won’t see Kimmel’s return on traditional broadcast. By contrast, Lincoln’s ABC affiliate, KLKN, is not owned by Sinclair and is expected to continue carrying the show as normal.

Nexstar and Sinclair both say their decisions stem from concerns over Kimmel’s recent remarks. Nexstar called them “ill-timed and insensitive,” while Sinclair said it wants a “formal dialogue” with ABC about promoting “constructive dialogue” in programming.

Jimmy Kimmel Returns to Late Night, but Western Nebraska Viewers Left Out

NORTH PLATTE – Ten-year-old Kassidy Frick may only be in her second year of 4-H, but she’s already diving into projects that showcase her curiosity and love for animals.

Frick, a Lincoln County 4-H’er, has explored cake decorating, cookie jars, wildlife conservation, and shooting sports, with archery quickly becoming her favorite. “It really helps build my shoulder muscle,” she said with a laugh. “Archery is probably my favorite so far.”

Her enthusiasm extends beyond the range. With help from her family, Frick took on a wildlife conservation project, tracking deer along the Platte River and learning how to make plaster molds of their footprints. The hands-on project earned her special recognition and a rainbow ribbon at the Nebraska State Fair.

“One mistake in this project and the whole thing is ruined,” Frick explained. “You have to get the right measurement of water or it won’t set. But I was really excited when I saw my ribbon at State.”

For Extension Educator Caitlyn Jacobson, who works with 4-H in Lincoln, Logan and McPherson Counties, seeing youth like Frick embrace new opportunities is what the program is all about.

“4-H is about finding your spark,” Jacobson said. “Kids try different projects—sometimes they love them, sometimes they don’t. But through that exploration, they figure out what they’re passionate about.”

Frick said she’s already thinking about what’s next. She and her mom are considering showing sheep and goats, although she admits goats may be more her dream than her mother’s. “I love every animal equally,” Frick said.

Jacobson noted that fall is a key time for families to think about joining 4-H. With the year-end celebration on October 12 and the awards banquet just around the corner, enrollment for the new year begins again in late October.

With help from her family, Frick took on a wildlife conservation project, tracking deer along the Platte River and learning how to make plaster molds of their footprints. The hands-on project earned her special recognition and a rainbow ribbon at the Nebraska State Fair.“One mistake in this project and the whole thing is ruined,” Frick explained. “You have to get the right measurement of water or it won’t set. But I was really excited when I saw my ribbon at State.”For Extension Educator Caitlyn Jacobson, who works with 4-H in Lincoln, Logan and McPherson Counties, seeing youth like Frick embrace new opportunities is what the program is all about.“4-H is about finding your spark,” Jacobson said. “Kids try different projects—sometimes they love them, sometimes they don’t. But through that exploration, they figure out what they’re passionate about.”Frick said she’s already thinking about what’s next. She and her mom are considering showing sheep and goats, although she admits goats may be more her dream than her mother’s. “I love every animal equally,” Frick said.Jacobson noted that fall is a key time for families to think about joining 4-H. North Platte, NE – The Straight Up Advocates, individuals with lived experience in system involvement, recovery, and parenting support, invite community members to a “Recovery Walk” on Saturday September 27, 10am – 12pm at Memorial Park. Walkers should gather in the gazebo area prior to start.

The purpose of the walk is to show support for individuals and families who have stayed strong through recovery. The journey through recovery is very challenging and requires a lot of self-discipline and self-awareness on the part of the recovering person. It also takes support from the community to keep taking&nbsp;those steps forward. The walk itself represents the need for positive direction and support in the recovery journey.

Besides the walk around the park to represent and support the recovery journey, other recovery support organizations or information will be available. A new feature is, “What’s my Spark!”, a place where those in recovery can display something that they’ve redirected their energy to. It can be artwork, crafts, poetry, with the possibility of vocal performance as well.

The Recovery Walk is not easy, and that’s why it’s important to walk with others. These organizations will be available: Deborah’s Legacy, Region II Human Services, Oxford House, and Department of Labor.

Straight Up Advocates is a lived experience group that has been meeting since October 2022. The goal of the group is to be peer support for those who have experienced system involvement. In their bimonthly meetings, they discuss coping skills, boundaries, local resources, and achievements. A new focus of the group has been community involvement and volunteerism.

Anyone is welcome who wants to support this cause. Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 5-7 pm. Straight Up Advocates to Recognize Recovery Month with Walk

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office: On September 20th, 2025 at 08:56 AM, Lincoln County Deputies were dispatched to 17504 South Highway 83 on report of a car versus semi crash. Deputies found a south bound car struck a semi tractor/Propane tanker trailer as it pulled out of the Sundoco Pipeline towards the north. There was heavy fog in the area at the time of the accident with Deputies reporting near zero visibility. The driver of the car was identified as 55 year old Timothy Young of Moorefield Nebraska. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi tractor trailer was not injured in the crash. A Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstructionist was contacted and will complete the investigation and mapping of the scene. Our sincerest condolences to Mr. Young's family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Holy Spirit Catholic Church is inviting the public to its 11th annual Fall Festival, set for Sunday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2801 West E Street in North Platte.

The festival will feature a traditional roast turkey dinner with dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, dessert and drink. Meals are $15 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under. Dine-in service will be available inside Nelson Hall, and drive-thru service will be offered in the church parking lot.

Along with the meal, the day will include a wide range of activities. A silent auction and baked goods country store will be open throughout the festival, while children can enjoy games with prizes.

Festivalgoers will also have the chance to win raffle prizes totaling up to $2,000 in cash along with gift cards valued at $50 or more. A special raffle will feature an authentic Indian dinner for six, prepared by Holy Spirit pastor Father Sagar.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, Sept. 22, at the Lincoln County Courthouse for a series of meetings, including a public budget hearing and regular agenda items ranging from land use to tax requests.

The day will begin at 9 a.m. with the board’s regular meeting, opening with prayer and approval of minutes from last week. Commissioners will also review claims and treasurer’s receipts, consider a resolution ratifying the county’s cash-in-lieu benefit amount, and decide on a right-of-way permit submitted by Dawson Public Power District.

The Hot Sheets: September 19, 2025

<a>September 18, 2025 (LEXINGTON, NEB.)&nbsp;&nbsp;</a>—&nbsp;&nbsp;Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Carrier Enforcement Division conducted local commercial vehicle inspections on Wednesday, September 17th, in Dawson County.

During this effort, the Metropolitan Aggressive and Prevention Selective (MAPS) Team conducted 21 vehicle inspections. Troopers discovered 45 violations of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and state law. Troopers placed 11 vehicles out of service (not allowed to return to the road). Additionally, troopers placed 1 driver out of service.

Vehicles are placed out of service for a variety of reasons relating to bad brakes or tires, or other problems that pose immediate safety risks. Troopers issued a total of 6 citations during the inspections.

During the inspections, troopers also issued a total of 6 CVSA decals. The decals indicate that the vehicle did not have any immediate safety issues.

The effort focuses on commercial vehicles that may not pass-through weigh stations as part of their regular routes.

The MAPS Team is funded largely by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Troopers check for compliance with federal safety regulations and enforce laws pertaining to weight, size, registration, dyed fuels, and permits associated with commercial vehicles. Troopers discovered 45 violations of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and state law. Troopers placed 11 vehicles out of service (not allowed to return to the road). Additionally, troopers placed 1 driver out of service.Vehicles are placed out of service for a variety of reasons relating to bad brakes or tires, or other problems that pose immediate safety risks. Troopers issued a total of 6 citations during the inspections.During the inspections, troopers also issued a total of 6 CVSA decals. The decals indicate that the vehicle did not have any immediate safety issues.The effort focuses on commercial vehicles that may not pass-through weigh stations as part of their regular routes.The MAPS Team is funded largely by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Troopers check for compliance with federal safety regulations and enforce laws pertaining to weight, size, registration, dyed fuels, and permits associated with commercial vehicles. Local Truck Inspections Held in Dawson County

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Nebraska Pride Chorus is bringing a lively afternoon of music to North Platte on Saturday, October 19, with their upcoming performance at the Episcopal Church at 2:30 p.m..

Nebraska Pride is a women’s barbershop chorus, performing four-part harmonies that showcase the unique sound of female barbershop music. While many are familiar with traditional men’s barbershop groups, Nebraska Pride offers a fresh take, blending rich harmonies with familiar hits from decades past.

The theme of the fall concert, “Dancing to the Hits,” features songs from the 1950s through the 1980s, including classics like Surfing USA, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and In My Life. The concert will also feature local favorite Rascal Martinez as a guest entertainer, adding his own musical flair to the afternoon.

Nebraska Pride formed in 2004 when two smaller choruses — one in North Platte and another in Kearney — joined forces for the dedication of the World War II Memorial. The partnership was so successful that they decided to make it permanent, welcoming women from across the region, including Kearney, Arapahoe, McCook, and beyond. Rehearsals are held in Lexington, and members often carpool to make participation easier.

The chorus currently has about 25 members and is always looking for new singers. Practices are held Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Lexington.

The performance is free will donation, with proceeds supporting a scholarship for young singers and covering expenses for regional and international competitions through the Sweet Adelines organization.

Nebraska Pride invites the community to enjoy an afternoon of sing-alongs, harmonies, and fun, celebrating both timeless music and the joy of singing together.

NebraskaLand Bank Welcomes Darby Smith to Mortgage Department

LEXINGTON, Neb. — A North Platte man was injured and another driver killed in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning west of Lexington, according to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 3:38 a.m. Sept. 15, the Dawson County 911 dispatch center received multiple calls about a motor vehicle accident about a quarter-mile east of Road 429 and U.S. Highway 30.

Deputies arrived to find a 1988 GMC pickup and a 2000 Honda CR-V, both heavily damaged, in the north ditch.

Investigators said the pickup, driven eastbound by 23-year-old Jay Cooper of North Platte, crossed the center line and struck the westbound CR-V driven by 39-year-old Luis A. Hernandez-Zavala.

Hernandez-Zavala was pronounced dead at the scene. Cooper and a female passenger in the Honda were transported to Lexington Regional Health Center with injuries. Authorities said seat belts were in use.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lexington Fire and Rescue, the Dawson County Attorney’s Office, Priority Medical, and Rand &amp; Brian’s Towing.

NSP: Local Truck Inspections Held in Lincoln County

UNITED STATES ATTORNEY LESLEY A. WOODS

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Mark Cooper, 73, of North Platte, Nebraska, was sentenced on September 11, 2025, in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska, for violating the Lacey Act. United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis sentenced Cooper to two years’ probation, a $5,000 fine, and $15,000 restitution. In addition to the sentence imposed, Cooper abandoned a 5 X 5 mule deer taxidermy mount originating from the illegal 2019 mule deer hunt associated with the conviction, three additional mule deer taxidermy mounts and antler sets, and several white-tailed deer antlers.&nbsp; Judge Bazis also ordered that Cooper shall not hunt, fish, trap, guide, outfit, or otherwise associate or be in the field with anyone engaged in those activities for a period of two years.

Enacted 125 years ago, the Lacey Act protects the nation’s wildlife resources by prohibiting wildlife violations that cross state or international borders. A joint investigation conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Law Enforcement Division determined that Dustin Noble operated a big game guiding and outfitting business from his North Platte residence and provided illegal hunting and guiding services to paying clients, family, and other associates, many from outside the state of Nebraska, between 2015 and 2021. Noble also operated a commercial taxidermy business providing services of converting hides, skins, antlers, and other trophy parts of wildlife into taxidermy mounts. Some of Noble’s taxidermy clients included hunters unlawfully guided by Noble.&nbsp; During those hunts Noble’s friends, associates and clients agreed with Noble to violate Nebraska hunting laws to take wildlife including mule deer and wild turkeys.

The investigation determined that on numerous occasions Cooper, a close associate of Noble, hunted with and on various occasions accompanied Noble while providing guiding services to hunting clients, and assisted Noble transporting raw hides for the Noble Outdoors taxidermy business. On October 31, 2019, Cooper illegally killed an approximately 172-inch 5 X 5 mule deer during the archery deer season in Lincoln County, Nebraska, while accompanied by Noble and two Noble Outdoors clients.&nbsp; Cooper killed the mule deer from a seated position within Noble’s pickup while parked on a public roadway with a center-fire rifle.&nbsp;&nbsp;Under Nebraska state law, hunters are prohibited from possessing firearms or using firearms to hunt deer during the archery season and from shooting from or over a roadway.&nbsp; On November 7, 2019, Cooper delivered a shipment of raw wildlife skins on behalf of Noble Outdoors to a commercial carrier.&nbsp; Cooper delivered the shipment containing numerous wildlife skins knowing the shipment was destined for a fur dressing company in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and knowing it contained illegally taken wildlife including at least Cooper’s 172-inch mule deer and another trophy-sized mule deer Cooper knew was&nbsp;taken illegally by Noble on October 28, 2019.

The investigation substantiated 114 unlawful hunts conducted and provided by Noble during the course of the conspiracy. Noble’s unlawful activities primarily targeted trophy-sized mule deer, including early season mule deer in velvet antlers. As revealed by extensive evidence obtained during this investigation, Noble’s illegal hunts included the taking of more than 12 species of wildlife, including most notably: 61 mule deer, 33 wild turkeys, 4 pronghorn, 3 white-tailed deer, an American alligator, a timber rattlesnake, and approximately 12 upland game birds, migratory non-game birds, game fish, and furbearing or non-game animals.

This sentencing completes the final prosecution of numerous defendants related to violations committed by Dustin Noble and Noble Outdoors associates and clients between 2015 and 2021. Twenty defendants have been collectively sentenced to 22 months’ imprisonment, 15 years’ probation, 32 years’ hunt/fish/trap restrictions, and ordered to pay more than $275,000 in fines and restitution for state and federal convictions related to this case. The investigation included the seizure and subsequent forfeiture or abandonment of more than 50 trophy wildlife antlers or taxidermy mounts from 27 Noble Outdoors clients or associates.

The operation was a joint investigation conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Law Enforcement Division.

In addition to the sentence imposed, Cooper abandoned a 5 X 5 mule deer taxidermy mount originating from the illegal 2019 mule deer hunt associated with the conviction, three additional mule deer taxidermy mounts and antler sets, and several white-tailed deer antlers.&nbsp; Judge Bazis also ordered that Cooper shall not hunt, fish, trap, guide, outfit, or otherwise associate or be in the field with anyone engaged in those activities for a period of two years.Enacted 125 years ago, the Lacey Act protects the nation’s wildlife resources by prohibiting wildlife violations that cross state or international borders. A joint investigation conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Law Enforcement Division determined that Dustin Noble operated a big game guiding and outfitting business from his North Platte residence and provided illegal hunting and guiding services to paying clients, family, and other associates, many from outside the state of Nebraska, between 2015 and 2021. Noble also operated a commercial taxidermy business providing services of converting hides, skins, antlers, and other trophy parts of wildlife into taxidermy mounts. Some of Noble’s taxidermy clients included hunters unlawfully guided by Noble.&nbsp; During those hunts Noble’s friends, associates and clients agreed with Noble to violate Nebraska hunting laws to take wildlife including mule deer and wild turkeys.The investigation determined that on numerous occasions Cooper, a close associate of Noble, hunted with and on various occasions accompanied Noble while providing guiding services to hunting clients, and assisted Noble transporting raw hides for the Noble Outdoors taxidermy business. On October 31, 2019, Cooper illegally killed an approximately 172-inch 5 X 5 mule deer during the archery deer season in Lincoln County, Nebraska, while accompanied by Noble and two Noble Outdoors clients.&nbsp; Cooper killed the mule deer from a seated position within Noble’s pickup while parked on a public roadway with a center-fire rifle.&nbsp;&nbsp;Under Nebraska state law, hunters are prohibited from possessing firearms or using firearms to hunt deer during the archery season and from shooting from or over a roadway.&nbsp; On November 7, 2019, Cooper delivered a shipment of raw wildlife skins on behalf of Noble Outdoors to a commercial carrier.&nbsp; Cooper delivered the shipment containing numerous wildlife skins knowing the shipment was destined for a fur dressing company in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and knowing it contained illegally taken wildlife including at least Cooper’s 172-inch mule deer and another trophy-sized mule deer Cooper knew was&nbsp;taken illegally by Noble on October 28, 2019.The investigation substantiated 114 unlawful hunts conducted and provided by Noble during the course of the conspiracy. Noble’s unlawful activities primarily targeted trophy-sized mule deer, including early season mule deer in velvet antlers. As revealed by extensive evidence obtained during this investigation, Noble’s illegal hunts included the taking of more than 12 species of wildlife, including most notably: 61 mule deer, 33 wild turkeys, 4 pronghorn, 3 white-tailed deer, an American alligator, a timber rattlesnake, and approximately 12 upland game birds, migratory non-game birds, game fish, and furbearing or non-game animals.This sentencing completes the final prosecution of numerous defendants related to violations committed by Dustin Noble and Noble Outdoors associates and clients between 2015 and 2021. Twenty defendants have been collectively sentenced to 22 months’ imprisonment, 15 years’ probation, 32 years’ hunt/fish/trap restrictions, and ordered to pay more than $275,000 in fines and restitution for state and federal convictions related to this case. The investigation included the seizure and subsequent forfeiture or abandonment of more than 50 trophy wildlife antlers or taxidermy mounts from 27 Noble Outdoors clients or associates.The operation was a joint investigation conducted by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Law Enforcement Division.

Noble Outdoors Associate Sentenced for Lacey Act Violation for 2019 Mule Deer Hunt

United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced that Michael W. Stroble, 32, of North Platte, Nebraska, was sentenced on September 11, 2025, in federal court in Lincoln for one count of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine actual. United States District Judge Susan M. Bazis sentenced Stroble to 138 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Stroble’s release from prison, he will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.

Between July 2022 and February 2023, Joey Romero, Jamie Hopkins, Michael Stroble, Luke Schwartz, and others conspired to sell methamphetamine in and around North Platte.&nbsp; The group was responsible for the distribution of pounds of methamphetamine and was subject to multiple controlled buys, search warrants, and arrests.&nbsp;

By January 2023, Stroble and Hopkins were dating, living together, and selling methamphetamine together.&nbsp; On January 17, 2023, a controlled buy of 48 grams of methamphetamine from Schwartz and Stroble occurred less than half a mile from Hopkin’s home.&nbsp; On January 30, 2023, another controlled buy of 36 grams of methamphetamine from Hopkins and Stroble occurred at Hopkins’s home.&nbsp;

A search warrant was served on Hopkins’s residence in North Platte on February 7, 2023.&nbsp; During the search, law enforcement found multiple baggies of methamphetamine to include on a nightstand, a bed, Hopkins’s purse, on the floor, and in the toilet.&nbsp; Law enforcement also found two bongs, 29 pills, owe notes, three scales, spoons with residue, 224 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a box of Winchester .380 ammunition with 23 rounds in it, and empty baggies in the house.&nbsp;

Stroble’s co-defendants were sentenced in 2024. Schwartz was sentenced on September 5, 2024, to 120 months’ imprisonment; Hopkins was sentenced on October 17, 2024, to 120 months’ imprisonment; and Romero was sentenced on December 12, 2024, to 120 months’ imprisonment.

This case was investigated by the CODE Task Force which is made up of law enforcement agencies throughout a 22-county area in west-central/southwest Nebraska and includes the North Platte Police Department, Lexington Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Ogallala Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security Investigations.
